international church today if you notice it's the last sabbath of may today is may 29 and next sabbath it will be june already if you notice the sabbath school program is sponsored by the barangay the bing e-look i just don't know what will be the program for next sabbath but for today the program is handled by barangay now as i welcome you the sabbath let me share with you the passage found in exodus 20 verse 3 a verse 8 sorry it says remember the sabbath day to keep it holy just like the song that we sang for the opening song don't forget the sabbath may we not forget god's love and goodness to us today again welcome and happy sabbath in the city of siem reap cambodia liv ceja a tour guide he takes tourists to ancient and historic spots around the city not on vans or buses but by motorbike this unique adventure creates opportunities for ceja to share his journey of faith in christ so god called me since i graduated he said you have to start a tour business to reach out to the tourists so i start my business with four bicycle and seven dollar in business it's like a medium like a bridge to gap so i can reach out to the business people here in cambodia and fitness and i can reach out to people who's traveling the world even out of christianity to search for some things but they come up to the real truth of what christian all about what christians should be through his business ceja has met people of different faiths and world views from all over the world business is just a way of reaching out to people in the area that you cannot invite them to church these people no way you can go and invite them to church because in their mind they hate christianity seja's love for motorbikes and people is contagious his way of giving tours is well known by other tour guide services that regularly hire him but he has specific requirements before accepting those requests so in my business every of my clients they know that i'm an advocate they know that i i don't party i don't drink i live a different life most of the company that i'm involved if they don't allow me to share god's in my business through my work i wouldn't take it first is keeping the sabbath if they cannot let me have the sabbath i wouldn't do it even though it's a hundred dollar per day second if they try to stop me from sharing my testimony and my experience with god to peoples around me i wouldn't take over the job ceja runs his business with integrity and strong values his first rule is honesty here his integrity stands out from other tour companies whose main goal is to make more money by any means one day there was a man who booked seha's tour service this customer had used five other companies before with those tour companies the man had always paid 25 to rent a room in a certain guest house but when he asked ceja how much he needed to pay seha said the price was only 13 the guest was so surprised he said that's impossible i always paid 25 dollars to stay here ceja asked him to pay for the room himself at the front desk and he found out that the price really was only thirteen dollars so when he went pay thirteen dollars he come to me he said why are you different i say what you're honest i've been here with different guy different company always 25 so i said because i'm a believer in christ and then he said i hate christine but i like you so he asking about the seventh-day adventist church and when he went home he sent me a message on facebook he said i'm reading my bible now even in the last message he sent to me he said i just want to let you know in this world you are the only person who doesn't rip me off even my family member they just want money from me but you are the only person who doesn't rip me off who i can trust in this world so people who've been on my tour most of them they are at this they don't believe in god some of them went back they sent me a message and some of them said oh because of the experience i've been with you yo i'm reading my bible back what are friends we have in jesus we sing the song and jesus is a true friend to us and if you are true friend to them they open up everything for you and when they open up everything's for you when they fully trust you then they trust your god we can share god's love through almost any job hobby or talent that god has entrusted to us ceja is a wonderful example of this in siem reap cambodia one thing i learned from him is honesty and i want to be on us with those people who come to my shop please pray for seha and all the customers and tour companies he has shared jesus with may say continue to share the love of jesus through his tour company [Music] i don't understand [Music] such as mine then consider me worth every minute when i think of my savior alone on the cross i know without him that my life would be lost if he had not been willing to suffer the cost to a describe like me [Music] to rescue a sinner like me [Music] and his kingdom to rescue us [Music] my mind is so limited that i cannot see the reason he died and arose just for me [Music] to rescue a sinner [Music] to rescue a sinner like me he abandoned [Music] us worthless [Music] hallelujah [Music] like me [Music] ah me a sinner like me a sinner like me good morning and happy sabbath to all of you truly it is a pleasant sabbath morning for us to be here together here and in the comfort of our own homes uh this blessed sabbath morning we are going to discuss the sabbath school lesson this week and here with me in the panel are bada-jun and sir nimrod so do you have something to say to greet our fellow believers this morning hello brethren happy sabbath everyone especially to our congregation and to our online worshipers we are happy that we are here again to discuss our lesson this morning to my fellow believers at pic and our fellow believers online shabbat shalom to all of you um i have not attended sabbath worship here at pic for the past months because of the copied quarantine restrictions and also because i have some personal concerns for my children and so it is truly for me a pleasant day and a great opportunity to be here to worship with you the pic congregation and to participate in a meaningful way the sabbath celebration today so uh again i'm happy to be with bada-jun and brother nimrod we are brothers and sisters so the sabbath throughout the quarter we have been studying about the covenant between god and his people between god and abraham and abraham seed between god and us the seed of abraham by faith and this week specifically was studying about the covenant this covenant in relation to the sabbah that's why that the title of the lesson this week is covenant sign the sabbath is the sign of this covenant between god and his people the sabbath looks forward or rather the sabbath first looks backward to the time of creation when when god lovingly shaped man and also created everything and the sabbath looks forward to the time when god will finally consummate his act of redemption and finally restore everything to its perfection by creating a new heavens and a new earth okay ah nah thank you vadojan for reminding me before we continue on i'm asking everyone to please bow your heads as we pray father in heaven we humbly come before your presence this morning thank you for this opportunity to worship you to fellowship with you most of all we thank you also that we can intellectually intelligently discuss the concepts that you have put before us this week especially about the sabbath in the context of the covenant between you and us father by your holy spirit be upon us guide us so that we will be able to understand this lesson this morning we ask for this in jesus name amen okay so we will not just discuss the lesson here and allow you to listen to us we want you to participate okay so uh brethren you will be answering a quiz this morning okay as we go along with the discussion you will also answer several questions for the congregation here you can raise your hand to indicate what uh answer you are choosing okay whether it is a b c or d to our online worshipers you can educate your answer by making a comment whatever that may be in your messenger account okay or in our facebook account okay so let's now go to the quiz question number where does the sabbat have its origin a sinai big creation c the first coming of jesus and d during the early christian church or the apostolic church who among you are choosing letter a please raise your hands be okay i think most of you let us see the first coming of jesus and letter d the early christian church so what is the right answer ayon tamaao but what does this about have its origin many today are discounting the importance of the sabbath i mean not among us 70 adventists but the some of our many of our countrymen or our fellow men who do not belong to this faith are not really giving that much importance to the sabbath they just they are saying that the sabbath is just for the jews cheetah chatter so from my fellow panel members this morning where does this about have its origin we can discuss that for a while yes as uh as as we all know shabbat we can trace uh sabbath observance during the creation week okay in uh genesis chapter 2 verses 2 and 3 i'll i'll read and on the seventh day god ended his work which he had done and he rested on the seventh day from all his works work which he had done then god blessed the seventh day and sanctified it because in eight he rested from all his work which god had created and made although the word sabat here is not mentioned but if you look at the hebrew word seventh day okay it arrested it is uh [Music] derived also from the noun shabbat sabha which is uh res seventh day so they are related and [Music] during that the time the seventh day god rested he he sanctified it and he made it holy actually this is the first according to the one commentary that i've read this is the first complete day that uh adam and eve humanity have experienced the seventh day because they were created on the sixth day right whether it's what time is that in the morning or in the afternoon but during the seventh day this is the complete day that they experience and that is uh the blessings of the sabbath worshiping god during the seventh day okay thank you i can imagine the first day that the first couple communion with with their maker on sabbath day and this kind of experience god designed sabbath for all of us to commune with him on the seventh day nowadays many people are doing other things and not minding of the importance of the seventh day in their lives i hope that all of us here believe in this kind of covenant sign because in this day on this day the seventh day god is the one who instituted it it is not man it is god who instituted it between him and his people when god created this covenant sign being the great designer of creation he knows already the benefits of making this day a significant day between god and humanity there is the the daily resting no because our body is designed for work and rest you work during day time you rest in time but that is not designated by god god designated the seventh day after all of these resting moments during days work god designated the seventh day the sabbath which is his day between him and us so if we disregard this kind of cycle weekly cycle not minding of the sabbath we are violating the design and the plan of god actually that's why in the ten commandments god said remember the sabbath day to keep it holy so we we need to remember and remembering is a kind of a kind of experience where all of us not mainly of physical aspect but more of psychological aspect of of experiencing the sabbath blessing because of this pandemic we are restricted to come in the synagogue in the church like this but we can still retain the blessings of the sabbath although you know at home we are in the house just maintain the restrictions of the common days but establish things that with utmost importance with that covenant between you between you and the maker what are those things meditate to him talk to him in prayer and bible study because in that day god said we have a rendezvous we have a meeting we have an online meeting on the seventh day so please be there and you can talk to him you can talk to me and commune with me during sabah okay uh brother brother nimrod sir has already given us some of the applications for our lesson this week but we will be going back to the applications so but the most important point that we can do that we like to emphasize at this point is that the sabbath was instituted by god at the time of creation even before the giving of the ten commandments to the jews even before the entrance obscene into this world the sabbath was there and so the bible is very clear in isaiah the last chapter we will be celebrating the sabbath those who will be redeemed the redeemed will be celebrating the sabbath from one sabbath day to another from one new moon to another we will be celebrating it from eternity to eternity because it was created there at the time of creation institute instituted by a loving god who wants to have that warm personal fellowship with us his creation yes in addition the sabbath was not only given to the jews it's very clear in the bible and in our lesson it says in mark chapter 2 verse 27 that the sabbath was given to man to humanity so it was given to the filipinos to the indonesian to the other nations so it's not only for the jews okay so sabat already existed before the jews was here because it was created or it was uh made during the creation week okay so now let's go to the second question the sabbath is designated as a covenant sign on the following the following except one god our sanctifier god our creator see knowing god and this salvation by world from our front of the congregation among you are selecting letter a none letter b let us see letter d okay so salvation by work by the way i think you can also allow the congregation to participate in the discussion maybe you can also ask questions or probably also stand and come up to the front and give your comment okay so i'm just reminding all of you that we can together discuss this lesson okay so what can you say brother neighbor about the second question i will re-emphasize the text that is found in mark chapter 2 verse 27 it says the sabbath was made for man and not man for sabbath if we will try to reverse that man was created you know for the sabbath man for the sabbath man was created for the sabbath it will become righteousness by works as we have identified in letter d meaning through all the years man will work out the requirements of sabbath man was created for the sabbath meaning man will make some requirements do his requirements which many people were doing already but void of the me of the substance which is the faith believing that god is the creator of the sabbath mark 27 says the sabbath was made for man and not man for the sabbath so it is god's intention that sabbath will give will benefit humanity in its practice uh yes uh in addition with that the uh four times according to our lesson in scripture this sabbath is designated as a sign okay in exodus chapter 31 verses 16 and 17 and also in ezekiel chapter 12 verses uh chapter 20 verse 12 and verse 20. so it was designated as a sign okay [Music] when you say sign it is not a symbol okay but according to our lesson the sabbath was a covenant sign between me and you throughout your generations what is it in the sabbath that it was made by god as a covenant sign okay what is it in the sabbath well in in in our choice there we can see there the god as our sanctifier okay god as our we consider god as our creator and keeping the sabbath we can know more of of him we can know more god our creator because uh in our lesson in the hebrew thought when you say knowing him it's not only intellectual but it also includes relational and also emotional so it's really a deep having a deep relationship with god so in keeping the sabbath we are having this uh deep that should be our goal having knowing him having this relationship with god in whatever we do during sabbath yeah right that's a very important point uh that brings us also to the text in exodus 31 verse 13 say say to the israelites you must observe my sabbaths this will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come so you may know that i am the lord who makes you holy who sanctifies you so our lesson this week emphasizes this text and the two important points that this text relates to number one the sabbat is a sign of knowledge knowledge of what a knowledge of god most important of all knowing god that's the greatest the deepest privilege that a person could ever have we can know a lot of things here in the academy we can study all concepts from the science and the arts but the knowledge of god is only reserved for those who have really come into the presence of god in humility and more okay so that's the first uh sign of uh the significance of the sabbath the second is that the sabbath also is a sign of is a sign that god is our sanctifier god is the one who justifies us from sin and also sanctifies us all these are god's grace and god's gifts to us justification and sanctification and these are all enshrined within the sabbath as the covenant sign i would like to emphasize the second phrase god our creator in law in line with sabbath covenant relationship from this perspective the observance of sabbath defies evolution evolution it the sabbath defies evolution because in the observance of sabbath we acknowledge that god is the creator and we believe that man was not a result of a big bang theory or other theories in the world but it is a perspective a philosophy of life that god is the creator of humanity we are not a byproduct of a big bank theory but somebody in the universal universal experience got the ultimate being created man fearfully and wonderfully made and from this covenant sign jesus god said you will know me as your creator because of the sabbath and you will go back to remember that somebody during the time of grace created you in his image yeah that's an important point as well um cersei mentioned mark 27 mark 2 27 and 28 the sabbath was made for man not man for the sabbath so the point there is very clear the sabbath in a personal nota the sabbath is made for me okay it is made for you but take note the sabbath it does it is not just made for me and for you because most of all the sabbath is about god the sabbath is about the creator sometimes we we we tend to not just sometimes i think oftentimes we tend to forget that important fact that the sabbath is is not just for me it is about god most of all okay so we can talk more about it but we have to go to the next question okay so what's the next question question number three what what is the common denominator between sabbat and salvation and the relationship who among you are choosing letter a raise your hands letter b ah letter a is array okay letter b god let us see salvation letter d relationship oh what about the others who are not sure raise your hands oh so what is the answer let's go to the answer relationship okay in the in our lesson this week uh the sabbath or the common denominator between sabbath is the relationship that we have with god so i think we can dwell more on that uh concept for a few minutes there is already the answer that sabah connotes relationship there is a danger for all the believers at aup to come to come to church without a relationship with god when we observe sabbath without a relationship it becomes formalism it becomes salvation by works so there is a call or a demand for all of us to come to our relationship first then we dwell in our relationship with with god and then we can observe the sabah if you if we void ourselves with a relationship and observe the sabbath it makes no sense to come to church without a relationship so i urge everybody to firstly establish an experiential knowledge two kinds of knowledge theoretical and experiential we need to experience the goodness of god you know in us then we can observe the sabbath fully in addition in our covenant with god the crucial aspect of the covenant is that we are saved by grace and not by works and then the sabbath is a sign of god's saving grace so yeah if we have this relationship with god uh that because he save us by grace so we have that relationship so we are keeping the sabbath because we have this saving relationship already okay so the sabbath now is a delight it's not a burden and as a covenant we promise because he saved us we promise to follow him in the comments yeah that's true i think we can also at this point we can use this analogy that is common to many of us in a marriage relationship when a man and a woman choose to live together as husband and wife as long as they leave they will son sign a marriage certificate okay that's the law the the law that binds the two together okay or that that uh finalizes the covenant the marriage covenant the marriage certificate and then uh in the western western societies and even among many of us here in the philippines the corporal will also have a sign between them about this marriage covenant they will wear a ring okay that's the sign of their personal uh relationship that's i think is the closest analogy that of this relationship between god and man okay the marriage relationship uh for example my wife and i are celebrating our anniversary 10th anniversary today uh happy anniversary yeah thank you mother john so that that day is special for us as husband and wife diba but what is that to you i mean we uh if we will have yes indeed we have a date today i mean this is a special day because this is a sabbath day and also because this is uh today is our um anniversary for us it is this day is truly meaningful but for the rest of the people in this world that is nothing to demo that it is that it will it is not that significant that's what i want to emphasize that is also the same with the sabbath and in connection with our relationship with god if you come to church on the sabbath without that very intimate personal relationship with your god the sabbath is nothing no the world will never understand us sabbath keepers why we are doing this because they don't have that personal relationship with god in the first place uh i think we we we adults we we cannot over emphasize this point in educating our young people about this concept this about having this relationship with god our creator we really have to educate many of you about this and we adore i really praise the lord and thank the lord that this week when i studied the lesson the sabbath has come to me with a deeper meaning because of this concept let me again emphasize that point the sabbath is made for me but it is not just about me it is about god most of all right okay so no we will not go to the application i think we don't have much time now let's go to the last question according to this week's lesson the sabbath as a day of delight or joy means the following except we receive double or greater greater blessings we fellowship with their family and friends we commune with god we unwind from daily labors letter a sinopo muy billionaire letter a raise your hands letter b we fellowship with our family and friends letter c we commune with god and letter d we unwind from daily labors it seems nobody is raising your hand what have what's what's happening are you still with us congregation is the question confusing again let's repeat it letter a raise your hands okay then letter b letter c and letter d okay but only a few of you are raising your hands i guess uh you're not sure okay so what's the answer okay we fellowship with family and friends actually um all the answers are correct but we have chosen letter b because the lesson this week is not emphasizing this point in fellowship with family and friends okay so that's the reason why we have chosen b letter d could also be the right answer okay so well i think you have sir do you have a letter b answer is very superficial if that is our intention to observe sabbath just for fellowship with family and friends very superficial it should be go deeper and go higher the deeper is to commune with god this is the intention of servants of sabbath now there is a great difference from people of today whom they just take it take it for granted for the day of rest sabbath and they are not so conscious of sabbath day as a special day between god and humanity that's why they just go for the week without this kind of experience but for all of us from our graduates i have many that i've heard from our graduates my what made uh graduates of aup you know become so serious of the sabbath issue why made it become so a serious issue to all of you not to take exams during sabbath you see when you dwell on the experience experiential knowledge about your covenant relationship with god it becomes your habit and it becomes your character the moment anything that in that is in conflict without covenant relationship for you you will decide to be to discard those things much more if you are graduate and you will be taking and i license your exam during sabbath it will become a big issue to you when it conflicts with your belief on the covenant relationship with god much more for our graduates who are looking for work job opportunities when it comes to the issue of sabbath you will stand for your faith because this is your lifestyle this is your covenant relationship with god so that makes a big difference from others you will decide in favor of god amen yeah in addition with that in the spirit prophecy uh god has given us a guidelines okay i'll reading from the desire of ages page 207 says but as god sees his labor of creating and rested upon the sabbath and blessed it so man is to live the occupation of his daily life and devote those sacred hours to helpful rest to worship and to holy deeds the last part is holy deeds so it it's not only resting as in resting communion but we can also do holy deeds holy works like although this pandemic is not allowing us to visit our friends visit those who are sick okay but we can still do things which could make our relationship with god uh strengthened by uh praying for maybe online online bible study praying for our friends online those who are sick because of the kobe 19 restrictions or warranty restrictions whether we like it or not ourselves the quality of our sabbat keeping have been affected one way or another so i don't know about you but with my fellow panel members here uh maybe you can say one how how was you affected by the clever copy 19 restrictions how how's your sabbath keeping the quality of it affected maybe in a little aspect it was affected because before we cannot go to the church for worship you know physical worship but although we can worship online actually uh it's a it's a blessing also because we can go to different churches in uh three sub three churches in one sabbath no because of online but for me it also not affected so much because my my communion with god my prayer with god wherever you are you can still do those things amen bible study prayer yeah okay i mean fortunately i was affected as well though okay so i think we don't have time anymore sir [Music] but there's one more thing i think one more thing now we have to remind everyone in the natural world we measure a year by the revolution of the the earth around the sun we measure the length of the day by the rotation of the earth on its own axis we measure a month by the rotation of the moon throughout the around the earth but how do we measure the weak clearly it is only from god's word the bible god instituted instituted this weekly cycle six days of labor one week of intimate personal date with god the creator so six one six one i have read somewhere that the rhythm of the music affects us powerfully in so many ways and i think the authority to that is sir he will teach us now the rhythm of life that god wants us to practice daily sir we are created by god with a built-in rhythms can you can you observe can you feel your pulse the beat of your heart the heart rate the beat of the heart is constant 24 7. that's why the doctors will put his stethoscope to your heart maybe at the back because he can still he can still hear the rhythms of the heart and if there is abnormality of the rhythms then the doctor will say probably you will proceed to the to the next test next step which is to to determine the health of your heart okay now going back to the inquiry that our body has a built-in rhythms in relation to to music those of you who are taking music we have the fundamental rhythms we have two four we have two four one two one two we have three four one two three one two three we have four four one two three four and there are also uh rhythmic signature like six eight i will identify this six eight okay very close to sabat observance six beats in a measure one two three four five six one first day monday tuesday wednesday thursday friday one two three four five six one now you try to make this to uh to revise this to other rhythmic patterns there is a direct effect to your body there is another element of syncopation syncopation will will give unrest experience to the person playing or doing the music and to those listeners if you are a sensible musician you cannot afford to end your music with syncopation it should be rested music because if you end that with syncopation syncopation beat the music will become unrest that's why in relation to our topic today god at the end of the week he instituted sabah as the rest day of experience you know the blessings of communion with god for each week the rhythm cycle of our spiritual life so sir one more point what what him reminds us of this rhythm of life that god has instituted for us what him him him what him that has this there is there is a hymn in our hymn book don't forget the sabbath don't forget the sabbath is in six eight one two three five one two three four five six one two three four five six you see when you try to beat it in a longest way one two three four five six it is become become laborious but you know musicians we shortcut it to make it less effort so we we make it two four nine one two three four five six don't forget the son but that's the song yeah that's the six eight i hope that when we sing six uh don't forget the sabbath we we always remember the intention of the sabbath itself plus the rhythm of life which is six seven let's bow our heads six days on the seventh day thank you sir let's bow our head father in heaven thank you for giving us the sabbath may we commune and enjoy the blessings of this day as you have intended it for us in jesus name amen for our closing song let us all stand and sing blessed assurance [Music] blessed assurance jesus is mine oh what a far taste of glory divine ear of salvation purchase of god born of his spirit washed in his blood this is my story this is my song praising my savior all the day long [Music] this is my story this is my song praising my savior that day long perfect submission perfect delight visions of rapture now burst from my side angels descending free from above echoes of mercy whispers of love this is my story this is my song praising my savior this is my story this is my song praising my savior all day long perfect submission [Music] watching and waiting looking above filled with this lost in his love this is my story this is my song praising my savior all that they love this is my story this is my soul praising my savior shall we bow our heads as we pray our great god heavenly father we would like to thank you for this beautiful sabbath day that you have given to us thank you lord for this another opportunity for us to be able to worship you in spirit and in truth thank you lord for your covenant to us which is the sabbath a sign of your saving grace to each one of us thank you lord for all the blessings and as we continue our worship this morning with you be with us may we feel your presence thank you lord for hearing answering our prayer in christ holy name we pray amen good morning and happy sabbath everyone it's a delight that once again we are here you know every sabbath every week is an opportunity to really praise god to really thank him because nowadays it's really very uncertain we do not know when will be the next uh lockdown that we will not be able to get to have our worship here but we praise god that we are able to have our worship service here let me remove my glass first because i cannot see you well anyway and by the way these are not sunglasses it's just that the glare is uh affecting the glass but anyway we are very happy that you are here worshiping with us then that goes the same with those who are worshiping with us online we really appreciate the posts that you are putting when you inform us that you are worshiping with us and so we are uh we are happy and we really appreciate that you are part of the pic family and i hope that as you worship with us you will really be blessed now for those who are here inside the church we may still be practicing physical again i don't want to call this social distancing i don't like that term but we are practicing physical distancing okay we are social beings and we just uh practice physical distancing but not social distancing right and so let us at least look at the people around us and greet them happy sabbath even though we will not be shaking their hands at least we can greet them happy sabbath [Music] thank you very much now at this juncture i would like to request sister lia fabito to join me here because we will once again have the reading of the transfer havien is part of the college of theology and he has served the lord in our church for in so many capacities now and we are happy that he has accepted the invitation to be our speaker this morning and i hope and pray that god's spirit will dwell in our hearts and minds as we worship be participative in the worship service and listen to the message that's entitled the will of god in our challenge to follow god bless us [Music] [Music] so [Music] do [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] make a joyful noise to the lord all the earth serve the lord with gladness come into his presence with singing know that the lord he is god it is he who made us and we are his we are his people and the sheep of his pasture psalm 100 100 verses 1-3 this psalm calls us to worship and serve our living god because he is our creator provider sustainer and redeemer he deserves all worship for he alone is god god calls us to be joyful and happy in serving and worshiping him we should not feel burdened or obligated to worship him but instead let us feel his loving presence as we commune with him because he created us to worship him and bring him glory isaiah 43 verse 7 god welcomes us into his presence which is a theme throughout the bible from the garden of eden to the tabernacle in the desert as found in exodus 13 verses 21 to 22 from the temple in jerusalem first kings 8 verses 10 and 11 to the new jerusalem coming down from heaven revelation 22 verses 1 to 3. god's presence is an amazing gift to his people even amidst this prolonged pandemic crisis we have been experiencing so let us empty ourselves from any worldly thoughts and cares that may hinder us to receive the blessings of god's holy presence today as we worship him please kneel [Music] is [Music] oh [Music] is [Music] is is please be seated for our thoughts and sabbath i'll be reading from ellen g white's desire ages pages 281 to 289 entitled the sabbath the sabbath was hallowed in the creation as ordained for men it had its origin when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of god shouted for joy job 38 verse 7 peace brooded over the world for earth was in harmony with heaven god saw everything that he had made and behold it was very good and he rested in the joy of his completed work genesis 1 verse 31 because he had rested upon the sabbath god blessed the seventh day and sanctified it set it apart to a holy use he gave it to adam as a day of rest it was a memorial of the work of creation and thus a sign of god's power and his love the scripture says he hath made his wonderful words to be remembering the things that are made declare the invisible things of him since the creation of the world even his everlasting power and divinity genesis 2 verse 3 psalm 104 111 verse 4 and romans 1 verse 20. all things were created by the son of god in the beginning was the word and the word was with god all things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made john 1 verses 1 to 3 and since the sabbath is a memorial of the work of creation it is a token of the love and the power of christ the sabbath calls our thoughts of nature and brings us into communion with the creator in the song of the bird the sighing of the trees and the music of the sea we still may hear his voice who talked with adam in eden in the cool of the day and as we behold his power in nature we find comfort for the world the creator created all things is that which speaks life to the soul he who commanded the light to shine out of darkness hath shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory in the face of jesus christ ii corinthians 4 6 and the lord says if thou turn away thy food from the sabbath from doing the pleasure and my holy day and call the sabbath a delight the holy of the lord honorable then shalt thou delight thyself in the lord isaiah 58 verses 13 and 14 to all who receive the sabbath as a sign of christ's creative and redeeming power it will be a delight seeing christ in it they delight themselves in him the sabbath points them to the works of creation as an evidence of his mighty power in redemption while it calls to mind the lost piece of eden it tells of peace restored through the savior and every object in nature repeats his invitation come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and i will give you rest shall we all stand [Music] and worship [Music] is [Music] a sign that all may understand we [Music] loving father we come before your throne of grace senior as we are we come to you because we want to give you thanks honor and praise and glory for giving us this privilege and opportunity to come before you to worship you in beauty and holiness and in spirit and in truth thank you for the holy spirit that will open our mind as we understand things that are so deep because they are spiritual accept our worship forgive us all our sins we thank you for many wonderful things you have done for each one of us and so we give you honor and glory accept our worship in jesus name we pray amen happy sabbath yes indeed it is a wonderful and blessed sabbath day for our sabbath expressions of praise we will [Music] oh my god go great [Music] again first stanza man great is [Music] as they [Music] great is thy faithfulness great is thy faithfulness morning by morning [Music] [Applause] [Music] summer and win [Music] in their courses [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] to thy great [Music] great fatefulness thy faithfulness i have is thy faithfulness [Music] peace [Music] strength [Music] [Applause] [Music] and [Music] is my faithfulness morning [Music] and [Music] [Applause] [Music] is [Music] putting god first can be difficult what can we learn from the pharisees who refused to put god first [Music] pharisees and teachers of the law were among the most respected people in israel in the early first century most could recite the torah by heart and tried to follow each of its precepts with extreme precision giving them a sense of safety and pride actually they were almost perfect almost but there was a new preacher around maybe a prophet and he took the law to a whole new level it went from something difficult to follow to something impossible to follow he said for instance that god expects us to exceed that pattern of the pharisees have you heard exceed the pharisees were believed to be the perfect law keepers but the preacher taught that we become like god when in addition to doing what is right which is external obedience we also love to do what is right which is internal obedience and to be perfect we still need to love and show mercy toward those who do not deserve it or do not perform like us even if you are a sinner you may sometimes choose to do what is right even though you don't like it but in order to think feel and take pleasure in what is good and right you need a miracle from above worked by the holy spirit and this was exactly what that preacher came to offer on one occasion he addressed the pharisees directly woe to you scribes and pharisees hypocrites for you pay tithe of mint and a niece and human and have neglected the weightier matters of the law justice and mercy and faith these you ought to have done without leaving the others undone the pharisees would go to the extreme of counting how many new leaves of mint grew in their garden and would take the tenth leaf to the temple jesus was clear continue counting the leaves of mint but seek justice mercy and faith so it isn't surprising that the pharisees were the main force behind killing jesus but at the same time many marginalized people learned through jesus that believing that you are not good enough is the very condition to be accepted by god and then to be transformed by his power jesus taught that putting god first means that we should still count our mint leaves but more than that is necessary for salvation by regularly spending time with him every day we open our minds for the holy spirit to change us from the inside to the outside in his likeness leading us to mingle our mint leaves with love mercy and compassion the pharisees refused to put god first the consequences were terrible for them and the people around them god's love compels us to put his kingdom first while the pharisees example is a warning for us today as we return our time and promise we are challenged to put god first [Laughter] [Music] [Music] do [Music] do [Music] do [Music] do [Music] do [Music] do [Music] do [Music] please stand [Music] let's [Music] is [Music] our great god our provider our sustainer and redeemer we humbly return these tithes and give our offerings dear lord because we do recognize that without you we are nothing as written in malachi 3 verse 10 that we have to give our whole thais back to you dear lord and you promised that you will open the gates of heaven to pour out the blessings and lord we claim this blessing today that you will continue to bless those who faithfully give their tithes lord and cheerfully give their offerings that you bless them many folks dear lord that they will be able to continue in helping the furtherance of your work here on earth so that you will hasten to come dear lord and take the faithful to your heavenly kingdom and we will live with you forever this we pray in the loving name of jesus christ our lord amen good morning and happy sabbath everyone the verse power scripture reading if you have your bibles with you could be found in the book of matthew chapter 7 verse 21 i repeat it's in matthew chapter 7 verse 21 i will be reading from the english standard version it says here not everyone who says to me lord lord will enter the kingdom of heaven but the one who does the will of my father who is in heaven please kneel [Music] sphere [Music] spirit of yours [Music] me [Music] living room [Music] our great and mighty father who art in heaven our creator and sustainer the author and giver of our lives the source of all knowledge and wisdom this sabbath morning we lift our praises to you father not because of what you've done but because of who you are we come into thy throne of grace with humility to ask for the forgiveness of our trespasses deliver us o lord from the bondage of sin and let your love transform us as such you have said if we confess our sins you are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness create in us a clean heart of god and renew the right spirit within us in a special way father we pray for those who are weary because of the uncertainty of this life we have been overwhelmed father for the things that are happening around us but in your promise we claim that you will give rest to those who are weary to those who are heavy-laden if we come to you we ask and pray for the healing and recovery of those who are sick we ask for your comfort for those families to have lost their loved ones during these hard times oh lord our anxious hearts often lead us to doubt your plans for us remind us o lord that you know that you have your plans for us plans to prosper us and not to harm us plans to give us a hope and a future we pray father for our speaker this morning may the words of pastor rico having and the meditations of his heart be acceptable unto thy side o lord may the outpouring of the holy spirit be upon us as we listen and contemplate to your message for us lord we thank you for thy mercy which are new every morning we are grateful that you've sustained us in ways we can't even imagine you've blessed us continually with this life that we have we thank you for this sabbath day wherein we can worship and come unto your presence o lord bless us o lord and help us enable us to here can unto thy voice this is all we pray in the loving name of our lord and savior jesus christ [Music] amen [Music] is [Music] god [Music] please be seated let [Music] in us and in me in my father's house are many mansions i [Music] the lord is coming are you ready the lord is coming are you ready would your lord be right if he came to the night the lord is coming are you ready why will you wait my brother promises o god all are true jesus brought your life on copyright and soon he would come again lord is coming are you [Music] ready the lord is coming are you ready [Music] is lord is coming are you episode everyone thank you brothers for the timely message and so on the question of the song is are you ready we have taken for granted many times in our christian life that the coming of the lord is so important to us so significant because it changes the history entirety of this planet yet many of us are so complacent how do we prepare personally for his coming i'm inclined to see to tell that many christians around the world are complacent in preparing personal preparation for christ's coming today we're going to do a lot of bible study the title of my sermon is god's will and our challenge to follow i was at young adventists in my local church in bukitnu i was a young theologian studying at mountain view college i grew a little bit mature when i took my master's degree in systematic theology and philosophy while ayas was still here i grew up a little in understanding the will of god when i took my phd in systematic theology the more i studied the more i confused i was confused reason because many pastors many elders do not discuss the will of god in fact more question rather than answers until now i can hear that from thousands of members where i visited around the world what is god's will for me 30 years 40 50 years in adventism do not know the will of god there's something wrong in the thinking there's something wrong in the teaching we need to go back the will of god 101 in the scripture because we cannot understand god's will because our will dominate over the will of god tell you frankly let's go to what uh the sister was reading open your bible mateo 7 21 that is categorical statement of jesus non-negotiable it is non-negotiable jesus says not everyone who says to me lord lord enters in the kingdom of heaven but he who does the will of my father which is which are in heaven clear and we are on that group and many have i heard all it is poor outside there it's not for adventists when jesus was in his ministry on planet earth he always tell the truth the will of the father to his people especially the 12 disciples who would later convey what is the will of god can you go to heaven without following god's will no i cannot go in fact the experts many will say to me on that day lord lord have we prophesied in your name prophecy is the best prophecy according to paul in 1st corinthians 14 verse 2 desire prophecy and in fact i want you all to prophecy because that is god's will of education of the church and they said we cast out demons in your rain that is god's will we have done many miracles in your name those are high caliber will of god verse 23 jesus says i do not know you depart from me you who do lawlessness that is hurting that is piercing word from the lord transgressor because when you are lawless you are violating god's law prophesying casting out demons doing a lot of good miracles how important is it to you and to me god's will i hear them in all people pastor anoka young you read the bible it is there clear as the non-day young people courting lord what is your will ministers asking lord what is your will they cannot see the will of god because our will dominate over god's will we want to twist god's will you know people have invented several will of god there is the called public will of god there is also so-called the decree will of god there is a moral will of god there is a permissive will of god there is affirming will of god there is directive will of god and there is command will of god which will we are going to do to offer did not our lord says matthew 6 9-10 jesus says give us the model of prayer our father which are in heaven hallowed be thy name your kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven the scope of god's will is not only here human must follow god's will on earth until in heaven that's why the will of god is so important i said non-negotiable we cannot go to heaven and what is the the privilege that god has given us the opportunity is found in matthew 12 verse 15. it says anyone who does the will of my father in heaven he is my brother he is my sister he is my mother are you do i belong to a brother of jesus christ that's the highest privilege because jesus was doing a lot of miracles and his mother brothers and sisters who were not converted yet at the time because it gets your son your son is out of his mind out of his senses and then people said your mother and your brother and sisters are here and jesus says my father my mother my brother and sister is the one who does the will of my father which are in heaven question are you the brother are you the sister because you have done the will of god the father i have not yet answered what is god's will meaning to say the will of god since it is to be it is so holy as he is so sacred non-negotiable represent this character we ought to obey let me go to the old testament where the word will of god is not stated unlike in the new testament where you can find the will of god clear genesis 2 verses 15 17. when adam and eve was created adam was created first and jesus told him the verse says and the lord god took the man that he created into the guardian obedience to ten and to keep it and the lord god said saying to the men of all the trees in the garden you can eat but of the tree of golden evil thou shall not eat because in the day you eat thereof you will surely die is there clear will of god clear what is the will of god you ate all that is not prohibited but do not go against my word my command clear they wreck because it is understandable as a kinder will understand his teacher of his subject that's the will of god and so what happened he did not then what happened all the mysteries of the world because god's will was dominated by the will of men that is selfish dangerous sinful destructive and finally will separate human from its creator there are so many other sudan god's will let's look at abraham genesis 26 verses 4 and 5. god said i will give this land to your descendants and all the earth will be blessed because i know abraham obey my voice keep my charge my commandments my status and my loss get the point what is god's will obey my voice just like genesis 2 15-17 but eve listen to another voice and that is our sin today listening millions of boys not discerning which is true look at how you look at your television think of that did you understand during the preaching when paul preached until the morning no one was complaining somebody fell down and died he resurrected today look because our will the will of the stomach the will of the eyes the will of the last of the flesh dominated god's will and god's will is placed in the corner that's reality that's why we are so weak let me go again exodus 19 verse 5 and 6. moses was called to the mountain of sinai and he told moses tell this to israel if you indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant you will be a special treasure on me above all people on planet earth because all the earth is mine verse 6 to me you will be a kingdom of priest and a holy nation understand again what's god's will if you indeed other persons say hey if you faithfully obey my voice that's the problem why there is adultery why husband and wife something there's something wrong in the family because the wife listened to other boys the husband listen to other boys and they are musical they are so attractive but in the end it is a distraction not only in the family but before our god because we have not done his will in the old testament it's very clear let's go to deuteronomy 28 verses 1 and two it come to pass that if you obey my voice and observe all the commands that i have given you i set up you today all these blessings will be upon you and they will overtake you because you have obeyed the voice of the lord clear what is god's will verses 16 now verses verse verses 3 up to 14 all the blessing clear verse 15 says but it come to pass that if you will not obey my voice nor observe the commandments that i have spoken you today all these curses will be upon you and they will overtake you and the curses is stated in verse 16 of the verse 68. you read we don't need to ask what is god's will finally the scripture however jeremiah chapter 6 verse 16 and 17 says god said thus is the lord stand and seek and ask the old paths which is the good way is and you walk in it and there will be it will be will with your soul but people say no we will not walk in it hardheaded israel is not a model 17 chapter 7 verse 23 i have commanded them god said obey my voice and you will be my people and i will be your god but what's the answer we will never obey we will never walk and god said these people did not obey my boys they not inclined their ears but they listen to their evil hearts and they walk backward rather than forward you see we will never have a progress in a spiritual life when we don't hear can we don't listen we don't walk in the will of god that is stated let's go now to the new testament it's clear okay thessalonians is saying us first thessalonians 5 8 this is the will of god now it says and everything give thanks because this is the will of god in christ for you clear what is the will of god in everything give thanks can you give thanks when your family are experiences of catastrophe that is a serious can you give thanks when disaster just follow just like job only job because he follow god's will to the litter so clear and everything give thanks when you fail in classes praise the lord when your sweetheart find another one better than you are praise the lord you can find another one the problem is that our will is so and that we don't listen when our will is not follow we do a lot of foolishness tantrums blaming god living circumstances and blaming everything and finally god are you following god's will it is not we need let's go to number two it's in peter 2 15 it is the will of god that by doing good you make silence of those foolish men clear doing good not bad before we are created according to paul in episodes to 10. he said for we are his workmanship created for good works created beforehand and we should walk in it right before god created human there was already a will of god that we do what is good how many of us in the day of judgment could stand because every work that we do that has declared by god is not good is against us that's very clear in ecclesiastes 12 14 that is clear in 2nd corinthians 5 10 that's why the book of titus chapter 3 verse 1 obey the rulers and your leaders that you do good works we're saying this is a faithful saying he who believes in god should maintain good works verse 17 let our people do good works so that it will do good for the church that is god's will the problem we want to twist god's will we as a light signs and all the best thing is once you read the will of god execute do it leave the consequences to god that's what happened to job that what happened to noah that's what happened to abraham that's what happened to daniel and his friends and all others who have done god's will they don't care about dignity honor reputation they go to prison nonsense they were beaten they are not thinking of that because they know they are doing god's will but to us we have a lot to complain in my own book because meaning to say my brothers and sisters we need to understand now let's go to the third thessalonians first thessalonians 4 3 and 7. paul says this is the will of god your sanctification because god did not call us to uncleanliness but holiness this is what god says that we need to be sanctified sanctified means to be holy blameless faultless because a life that is sanctified is moving to a life that has no sin that's why jesus says say no more that is sanctification but i like it to express in the writings of illinois she has seven elements what is a life of being sanctified and being holy acts of the apostle page 51 it says sanctification or holiness is the entire surrender [Music] of the will of god one entire surrender of our will to the will of god and then he said it is living by the word of god that proceeds from the mouth of god number two it is trusting god in triumph in the dark as well as in the life for it is obeying god's will of the father it is walking by faith not my side it is relying on god with unquestionable confidence that is number six number seven and resting in his life are you sanctified when we have this pandemic what is our attitude as gay as the brothers forsaken relying in islam relying unquestionable confidence walking by faith at my side trusting in god in time of trials in times of difficulty in times when there is everything is good you know i challenged my ideology and many of them were offended because i said i want to prove you that you do not know how to read the bible and many of them got angry well i allow them to get angry with me because i want to prove i said you know how to vocalize how to verbalize but you do not know really what it means what you are reading so i give them examination the one hour aniha the ass served until five o'clock we will pass our paper because i said you read only what is the litter there but what is the intention of god for that particular verse for you you did not understand ellen white would say reading the bible without the smear of the holy spirit does not help us to grow spiritually when we are destitute with holy spirit no matter what is our degree our position and wrong is useless because our will dominate over the will of god let me ask the most difficult yeah luke 9 verse 23 jesus says anyone who comes after me should deny himself and take up his cross and follow me what are the crosses you are carrying do not know i know i know what are my crosses but i'm not going to tell that to my wife and my children i give it to god what is my process my authenticity anyone who follow after me and does not carry his cross is not worthy of me because we think that christianity is a patra it's a party everything is joy when there is a problem there is a conflict there is a trouble we christian god why is this wrong wrong did you understand what paul says in everything that's why he says in philippians 4 rejoice always regardless of what happened but we cannot do it unless our heart has not been surrendered to the lord only those who do the will of god will go to heaven we will understand that one day because we always bargain with the lord as i told you his will is non-negotiable heaven and earth will pass away but it's not his will that's clear let me tell you for a few minutes when i become adventist everything changes i was persecuting in the school with my teacher and my classmates and my friends i remember especially the cet i giving always post up in the every monday because i have not attended the training i was a captain of company b and our commandant give me a bien 50 puss up you know i have a big body at that time and what i can make is only 20 25 30 i've already collapsed and my father and my mother was against me when i we become an adventist persecution in the home during worship we wonder why my father and mother you know we have our our our farm is nine kilometers in the hometown we have another ho we now have other house and about 75 meters it was the church evening my father come and then my mother drunkard when we start worshiping we didn't know that the second song is a closing song my father would say okay rico bibi my younger sister prepare the table we cannot play four months it happened and on a sabbath day our house there was a balcony and there if this is the balcony that is a highway going to the market my father would watch the adventist because it will pass in my home to the church when they say my father saw that they are coming my father said oh riko you get one kilo of pork because in front of our house was a slaughterhouse exactly when i come the adventists will pass with bulging eyes with judgmental look are we in your baptized you're still eating pork when i attend church there was a question because i'm bringing every sabbath it has been done all works in the week my father come is too difficult the disobedience to god's will because jesus said anyone to follow after me should carry his cross daily because those who follow me does not carry his cross he's not worthy of me i decided to run away from home i told my brothers because though my brother and sister three of us were baptized my mother told me rick you better run away your father will kill you you know he is a drunkard my mother sympathizes but my father was really different she started to slice my shoes and my pants so terrible i was not given money you know at the time when i work one day that is two pieces and 50 centavos under the sun i left home i cried i went to our church nailed the air and the neighboring atmosphere what i'm doing when i went out i saw the deacon i said brother where are you going sir i'm going to bohol i said i go with you but i don't have money say oh you come did you understand when you do god's will he's leading his guidance he's so close so we took a bus going to kaguyandi oro city he sat on the other i in the other way we are not talking until we both take it and then we were in the ship going to tagbilaran city in in the boat i cried and cried i said lord first time to be separated from my parents where shall i get a means of living but i was surprised there was a young man who come to me and he told me bye are you a missionary i said no and then he left when i arrived in bohol the district pastor was pastor gulfan the late pastor and he told me oh you come i said oh i ran away from home because i cannot maintain my faith there either my father become a murderer and i will be killed and he told me okay i'll pay you 250 pieces per month though as a lead preacher i said what i'm going to do nothing i do not know of the bible i only memorize three texts one psalm 27 10 when my father and mother leave me the lord will take care of me that's my comfort because i am loved by my mother i am a mother's boy the other is that matthew 19 29 it says anyone who live houses brother sister mother father houses and land will receive hundredfold and inherit the kingdom of god this are my comfort the other one is acts 14 22 it says that we will go enter into the kingdom of god through many tribulations i understand because i was in trouble really a big problem when i started evangelistic meeting yonobu hall is home of the catholic stones how many times i did evangelistic effort together with pastor goldman but god blesses and he said go to mount india college study theology i said no way when i try to go home when i arrive home still problem i run away and go back to bohol again but i since god's hand i said lord well i was not yet an adventist every sunday i go to the cockpit arena my father on the other side i was on the other side my brothers on the other side there was harmony at home but when we became an adventist i lost my friends i supposed to be studying priesthood i lost my scholarship many things that i have lost because that is the way how god's will when you follow god's will do it by duty not by inclination leave what is the result in the hands of god jesus says you know when jesus was on the cross you need to understand jesus jesus says according to paul philippians 2 5-7 let this be mine in you which is the mind of jesus although in the form of god he took the form of a servant and in the likeness of man and having that he was obedient of the things he was suffering heaven to death even the death to the cross him to himself so that he can do god's will that's why we understand he empty himself with his omniscience with his omnipresence and these three attributes of god that's why many of you are asking why he does not know the day of his coming because god empty himself with that that's why he says in john 5 30 i cannot know my own will but the will of him who absent me chapter 8 verse 29 and 30. if you leave the son of man you will understand that i am he that the father is me because i always seek his will not mine many of us did not understand all the miracles of jesus all the words of jesus jesus saying it is not me who speak it is not me who work is the father because i did not do my will but the father's word in fact john 12 is clear 49 i have not spoken my authority but is the father who upset me and he commanded me what shall i speak and what shall i see 50 because i know that his commandment is eternal life therefore what i see i speak because god has told me to speak just imagine that emptying himself following god's will many of us has misread that jesus performed miracle and jesus says no everything works you have done i have done is done by the father every word that i've spoken to you is not mine it's god the father that is how to follow god's will then let's look at again in matthew 22 42 he says he was on gethsemane here there his soul was pouring because of the sins of the world but he said father let this cup pass before me not my will but yours that cup if you want to read revelation 18 the cup of babylon the wrath of god that's what jesus wanted to pass away and he said it in matthew 26 the next verse 39 father let this pass but not my will but yours and then 42 he said father this cup will not pass unless i drink i do your will our model of following god's will is jesus we need to understand do not keep on asking questions asking questions without reading the scripture you will not find the will of god my brothers and sisters it's time for us we are in the verge of eternity yet we do not know god's will my wife and my children know my personality things that are difficult i keep quiet because that i learned from jesus when he was on trial he kept quiet he seldom talk because when we talk when we are in distress satan will insinuate and bad words will come from our mouths do you want to go to heaven i want to all of us will go but we need to obey to observe to lessen his voice what is in the scripture because that is god's will may the lord bless us as we as in this pandemic it should be a time where we search our soul it's a time by which we need to dig deeper deeper deeper into the scripture and we understand god's will his will is non-negotiable but it is joy that's why paul says in romans 14 27 the kingdom of heaven is not eating and drinking it's not bad luck is that joy that's why regardless of what happened give thanks but peace and joy of the holy spirit we can only have peace when we are not guilty before god we may cover everything but god knows the best thing for us to do my brothers and sisters when we learn how to surrender you started to be triumphant because the bible repeated that those who overcome the world and sin and everything in the world you have the inheritance because it is god's will that we overcome everything on planet earth by the modeling of jesus because he give us all the power to do it through his grace his love his mercy dispensed by the power of the holy spirit this is my prayer for our hymn of consecration we will sing oh jesus i have promised him number
