RWBY Theory - Aura Mastery: Those Who Push Aura to it Limits

trained huntsmen and huntresses have a wide variety of tools at their disposal but by far the most versatile of those tools is their access to their aura something that's possessed by every living being in the world of remnant that also possesses a soul Huntsman and huntresses in particular having unlocked their aura are in a position to take full advantage of it able to apply its offense/defense perceiving the world around them not to mention the inherent healing factor and climate protection that comes along with active aura now between individuals of Huntsman and huntresses the level of mastery or experience in each of these categories is by no means equal most of them have a basic understanding of defense and offense and defense that's their aura cloak and making it so that a lethal blow doesn't necessarily end up being lethal though they would still feel the pain from it they want to strengthen it enough to the point that an opponent can't cut cleanly through their aura and their limbs along with it because that's probably not a good situation to be in just as yang and everything but in terms of offense that comes with using their weapons as conduits for their aura most Huntsman and huntresses even the students have a basic understanding of this and just through normal combat this inherently is increased with their experience with basic defense and offense but beyond the basics this is when the diversity in the amount of experience that they have really comes into play because Huntsman and huntresses at this point decide what to put their time into training and often this is driven by what a person's semblance is if it's a purely combative semblance or one with very high combat applications then that's what they're going to be putting it towards able to use their semblance more efficiently with their aura so it drains it less and they have more aura available able to use their semblance more in battle and that influences their combat style etc there's a lot of aspects other than order to train as well you know just fighting with their overall weapon able to gain strength etc but we're gonna focus on aura for this one but when you see characters that have semblances that aren't inherently combative that's when we see aura being pushed beyond its boundaries in each of these categories and seeing what aura can actually be capable of been stated into the Ruby series are in the world of remnant episode that focused on aura that if you train aura enough you can become something more than a man this was of course referring to uh spin and having many lives to master aura so I'm really looking forward to seeing what Oscar will eventually be capable of and if he'll be able to push each of these categories to its limit becoming a master in and of himself but today we're not going to be talking about oscar there are other characters introduced into the ruby series that are pushing aura to its limits I would argue or have the potential to in the future of Ruby now when it comes to perception I'm of course talking about Ren he is very in tune with his aura in general but also with the world around him sensing it through his aura also probably in conjunction with his semblance there's definitely a bit of emotion sensing going on there as well he was able to sense tyrion and his bloodlust coming for team ranger moments before tyrion got there allowing them time to be ready for him though you know tyrion did kind of overpower them but still if they weren't ready could have gone a little bit worse as well in volume seven he was able to sense the Aesop's and their intentions highly-trained huntsman not that tyrion wasn't but still before they were able to capture the entire group now Ren didn't sense it in enough time to be able to do anything about it but still he was the only one in the group who did sense them coming and this includes crow who's a highly trained world-renowned huntsman in his own right so Ren's perception is on a very high level I was also able to sense Ironwood and clover just entering the room when he was meditating but that was likely just due to his perception he was very focused at the time etc Ren is the highest or has the highest ability of perception that we've seen in the series so far and I'm really looking forward to seeing where he will push this in the future if you've ever watched one piece and know about observation haki and know what kata curry is able to do he has a slight sense of detecting and opponent's moves and intentions before they actually happen I don't know if it would be pushed to that limit per se in Ruby but I wouldn't be surprised if it could and Ren being you know kind of a ninja in his own right I could see that happening so he can become a master at perceiving the world around him perceiving opponents moves and used that to you know his advantage in battle but he's not only a master of perception he's also very skilled at defense and offense when he's first introduced he was able to use his aura as a barrier as well as kind of a shockwave to blast the King taijitu s Fang through its head and in a sense blasting its head off now whether that has been retconned at this point because it was Volume one and hasn't been used since is still a question but in terms of offense and defense there are certainly other characters that show what aura is capable of when it comes to defense and I would argue healing factor on top of this look no further than hazel Reinhardt because this man is the epitome of durability crow even described him as sheer willpower this man before he even injected dust crystals into his body or anything like that he was blocking Ren's attacks and other people's attacks with his just bare arms and wasn't being fazed by it at all this man is going to be one that is absolutely difficult to defeat and his defense is not only to penetrate but his healing factor is crazy on top of that because we didn't actually see his aura get broken during the fights in the fall of Haven Academy but we know that it did because he was speared by the Lancer or the queen Lancer that Y summoned the stinger went right through Hazel's gut and the man kept going which means that his oral regeneration which was stated to be on a completely another level by Nora his oral regeneration was to the point that even though his aura was broken by Nora's colossal hit after Hazel electrocuted her he was broken enough to get gored by the stinger but after that point he was dragged back inside he took him moments for his aura to regenerate to the point where the wound must have at least closed otherwise he would have bled out in a matter of minutes sure there was adrenaline pumping anger and everything would have a fact to keep him standing during the fight but even after the fight after he fled from Haven Academy he was carrying emerald and running after his anger and adrenaline had run out so um yeah even with adrenaline and everything he should have dropped by that point if the wound didn't close and well not necessarily closed he probably still had a hole in his gut but the bleeding would have stopped and it would have started healing already hazel is on a completely other level when it comes to defense and healing offensive capabilities kind of because he's able to use the dust crystals very efficiently aura is used to activate the dust and create that elemental burst when the dust bullets hits anything or in Hazel's case the dust that he's injecting into his own body and firing outwards through his hands like friggin Iron Man so yeah hazel is a master in aura because his semblance in and of itself numbing agent being able to numb his own pain not inherently combative but hazel has definitely found a way to make it work for him and the reason he's able to increase his defence and healing capabilities is because of the way that he decides to tackle combat he goes in barehanded when he injects dust into its body he's constantly dealing damage to himself so for his aura to keep up with that and keep him standing it has to increase its own healing factor and he's given it a lot of practice at that just look at the scars that he has on his arms similarly with Ren his semblance of masking emotion has given him some other capabilities as well he's able to project his aura outwards and because of that projection he's able to be very in tune with his surroundings a lot of other things that tie in with a person semblance how they decide to tackle fighting plays a lot into what a person is capable of with their aura now we get to the fun category offense not gonna really touch on to the climate protection because I feel like that would come inherently with strengthening your aura cloak and other things on top of that but offense and the master of offensive aura that we have seen is by far crow Bronwen this is one of the reasons why he's known as a legendary Huntsman throughout the world and although never inherently stated in the ruby series it's easy to see why in the first fight that we see him in with winter Schnee he displays a technique utilizing aura that we hadn't seen up until that point done without assistance he's able to use his aura as an aura arc not to mention that he was also able to strengthen his weapon use it as a conduit for aura enough that with a quick jump and slamming it to the ground he created a massive crater that's not something to be underestimated but back to the aura arc the ability to swing your sword in a fast enough and focus your aura enough on the edge of a blade to swing it outward and project a slash attack that distance away is not something that should be underestimated we see it a lot in various other anime Ichigo and his getsuga tensho for example but in the Ruby series this is something extremely high level and the peak of offensive aura I would argue now the reason I say it's stream' ly difficult because just think about what you would have to do for this regular Huntsman and huntresses are used to using their weapons as conduits for their aura but to create an aura arc send out a perfect slash and arc outwards that would hit your opponent and actually deal damage to them you would have to focus your aura at the edge of a bladed weapon swing it with enough speed and power to launch it outwards so you have this clean arc that could deal damage to an opponent we've seen this I believe once before in volume 2 when Blake was enhanced by Isis time-dilation glyph she sent out a bunch of aura arcs to cut or cut apart the missiles that roman torchwick was firing in the paladin but that was being or having the time dilation which not exactly sure what the time dilation was doing it was definitely accelerating Blake's momentum thus accelerating her speed and power but it could have also been accelerating her time and Blake has not used this at all since then no other character has used this other than crow just inherently and not to mention there's another example as to why crow is a master an absolute master of enhancing his weapons or using them as conduits his aura you ever wonder why crows punches seem to land a lot harder than any other characters you know hand-to-hand combat in the series just look at the hand that crow is punching with it's always his right hand when he punched Tyrion in the face and when he most notably in volume 7 punched clover hard enough to break the remainder of his aura not something you'd think a normal punch would be able to do right and you are correct because on crows right hand are two rings on his ring finger or on his ring finger and his pointer finger there are two rings and we know that anything can be a conduit for your aura look back at volume two and the food fight that they had food can even be used as a conduit for aura so no doubt crow is using his rings as a conduit for aura and is able to punch that or have a punch that lands so much harder than anyone elses in the Ruby series thus far he has mastered offensive aura because he doesn't like using his semblance or a guess in some cases he could use his semblance so that the points of contact which are the Rings when he punches land in the part of an opponent's body that would do the most damage so crows definitely a master of offensive aura of course he also has decent defense as well but offense is where he's put his time into training but there is one character that I certainly believe will surpass crow in these offensive capabilities and that's of course Jean or in his full name Jean arc I know he's based on Joan of Arc but the fact that there is an aura technique although it hasn't been officially named in the Ruby series called an aura arc I feel like it's only fitting that jean will be the one to master this technique and push it to its absolute limits because most people train to enhance or train to make their aura more efficient when using different word techniques or their semblance etc rather than increasing their inherent stamina bar increasing the amount of aura that they inherently have but in John's case he already inherently as a stupid amount of aura so he doesn't have to be that conservative when actually using it in various techniques not to mention his semblance can amplify aura in other people by transferring his aura to them but most notably in volume one when we saw Cardin about to punch him in the face John unconsciously amplified his aura at the point of contact meaning the aura arc having to focus your aura on the edge of a blade which John just so happens to have a bladed weapon with his sword and no ranged attacks at this point in the series so it's gonna fit quite perfectly for him he'll be able to focus his aura at the edge of his blade use his semblance to amplify it and send out an aura arc that is going to be absolutely devastating for any opponent to come and contact with not to mention if we look at cloak at crows or arc close up doesn't that look very similar to a symbol that we have seen somewhere in the Ruby series before oh wait that's John's symbol now it was stated in the volume 1 commentary that John symbol is actually a rainbow but just the arc shape of its itself definitely coordinates well with this though I'm gonna be curious if the rainbow aspect of it plays some factor into this again returning to the one-piece analogy there is conquerors hockey and there are colours of conquerors hunky which hasn't really been touched on that much in the one-piece series or the one-piece manga but if there's well there is colours of aura obviously but if different colors of aura have different power associated with them John's aura is white after all which is supposedly the accumulation of all colors along with it so John could have the strongest aura out of any Huntsman or Huntress that has ever lived in the world of remnant potentially so I think John will become a master of using his weapons as a conduit for his aura and being able to send out the ultimate aura arc you know ichigo's gets agate tensho I wonder if John will be able to surpass the devastate of power that we saw even in the bleach anime that might be pushing it a bit far but with John's aura stash that he already has I wouldn't be too surprised and I'm looking forward to see where each of these characters can push aura in the future and what other aura masters we will see in the series now one thing I will note when it comes to defense we have seen what the ultimate capabilities of aura are in the form of talk but this was driven by talks assemblance her semblance was just sheer invincibility for 60 seconds she could activate her aura any hit that was on it would be reflected off of it she wouldn't take the damage so I don't know if anyone could train their aura cloak up enough to get to that point on their own but it's curious to see if they could and in talks case having this semblance she inherently just wanted to end the fight within that 60 seconds not training her aura up past that point as frankly there wouldn't really be a need to in her case though I do wonder if she did train and actually put effort into training her defensive capabilities could she extend the 60 seconds longer could her aura maybe not break at the end of the 60 seconds etc a lot of different questions that come about around aura but I would love to know what your thoughts are in the comments below as to what other capabilities you think aura could achieve what other characters are going to be capable of eventually in the Rubies series what characters will push aura to its limits what other aura techniques do you think are possible that haven't been shown in the Ruby series so far or even any techniques that have been shown in the Ruby series just not been explicitly touched on like crow using his rings as conduits for his aura
