you know what's the bad thing about stuff in this rig is you have to go back to yourself [Music] [Applause] the whole thing and now i'm back again [Applause] [Music] [Applause] good it's good to finally meet finally meet you yeah hello how are you great to meet you in person so how did you get that red to match on the locks it doesn't really match that well it doesn't okay it doesn't tell people can't understand why we never buy a semi to pull a trailer they keep asking us what'd you buy that part well one of the things resale we'll be able to sell this thing off in five seconds and if the market stays the way it is right now you know yes yeah sure marcus saying we're coming here and he goes i bet you trish is going to pass you on the airstream [Laughter] she was behind you know why she didn't get behind margaret she didn't because she was stuck behind me we went to a guy in grand rapids and he didn't know how to speak hot rod at all he's like trying to rig us up with a truck for pulling loads you know i said no no no we don't understand we're playing with this yeah congrats to concept i don't know if you're ready for this mark oh dear oh my goodness wow look at the seating you can get in and out of that [Music] like a 40 something it's a 44 fl okay not living so 44 foot locks it's really 45 is it 44 11. all right so you were a 747 pilot 747 how many years i was at the airlines i was at the delta northwest for 15 years in delta for another 15 almost wow wow and uh when they they inherited our 747s when they when we emerged and i was flying asia writing with northwest at the time i continued to do so to the end of my career i was checking out on the a350 when i decided to retire because i wasn't doing a good job yeah yeah yeah it was hard for me to admit that but it's just what this disease does you know yeah let's take a quick timeout to share with you a little more about markham maryland they are not new to crazy ideas mark is a 747 pilot but he's also an aircraft mechanic they've been sailing and they've done all sorts of crazy things in their life in fact once they even got a russian mig brought it over to the united states reassembled it and flew in air shows and let's not even forget the hot rods oh yeah that's right drag racing yeah and he's turned the he's turned the wrench on every motor he's ever had his entire life we wanted to share that with you because recently they've been thrown a curveball mark was diagnosed with parkinson's but what they really wanted to get across to you today is that no matter what life throws at you you got to still get out there and find your joy and your happiness and lean into the things that you're good at just go at your own pace and you're still traveling and you're traveling this you just augmented your plan we want to we want to make we think we want to do something with that we want to try to get people out there you know don't think this is a death sentence i mean and help them to realize you can still do stuff yeah i did all the mods on this thing with the help of maryland of course wouldn't you get me out of a hole i couldn't get it out of myself you know um but you know i did all the mods to this electrical system on this thing and to the truck yeah um it just took me twice as long it took a little longer but like you said you give yourself grace yes and you just you just do it it's just a little slower pace and free labor so still skin off your back yeah it's we we have time yes i don't know how strong marilyn is oh i'm your lithuanian noodle [Laughter] that's awesome all right well thanks for sharing your story i mean i do i think it's inspiring i think i mean i think it's cool as anything but then it's also inspiring well just before this we had a 48-foot um sailboat we said we had two of those and we sell the great lakes with the kids and then they of course they get older they don't want to come with us anymore so we this we can do ourselves here's our half pan oh stop i was already jealous now i don't even know where to go wow no you go right in here trish that's what they're used to seriously a half bath that's awesome oh and here we go oh my beautiful glass tile so beautiful you did such a great job ready yeah sure oh wow hello i wish i had more pillows [Laughter] wow look at how much space there is i know there really is a lot of room it's such a deep slide that when you come together the bed wow impressive [Music] we thought that was all show and then you know you get your first chilly morning you turn it on and it's ambience and heat yes this is really great i love what you've done in here in the black panther it's so much fun every joke lands now on kyd never joke a joke that's gonna get some good use hey oh yeah it is what are you doing in here what are you doing charlie he lifts the grass yeah you good charlie boy this thing maintains it it's such a wide flat torque band yeah it maintains it now i don't know if you guys know or not but this thing is an automated 18 speed is that then that's a is that a custom order from peterbilt yeah i mean you can you can they're not you can get them anywhere but it's a custom order so maryland could drive it i mean i i would personally like to have that oh it pulls like a son of a gun oh my bad oh dad all right so what is this 605 20 2050 foot pounds of torque 605 horsepower and it's like it's made it to a automated 18 speed so what that does is basically it's air shifts a manual transmission with a computer by itself okay but it's still a manual transmission can handle all the torque but it's just switching of the gears and the downshifting and the jig breaking and all it's all automated i used to love shifting but i i really like this thing a lot yeah nice and slow and then when you get it down just give it a little push oh really that wasn't me that's a no okay where are you right now on a scale of one to ten on a scale of one to peterbolt i'm a scale of one to peterbilt how much do you like this peterbilt we added that open that door right there oh wow is that a composting toilet no no it has liquid in the bottom yet we haven't used it yet but we just thought whatever why not well you got to i think because otherwise you're i mean the whole idea the whole the benefit of it in my mind of traveling in an rv is having your own bathroom so well you got the locks we do but if we say we just wanted to go on a weekend mark and i yeah just quick to visit my dad or whatever we can just take the truck yeah i like it this is a lot of space back here actually it is yeah and you slept in here when you just first when you first got it yep it's so it's just a little bit wider than a twin uh a little bit not quite a full yeah like tell me about the process of driving process of driving well i mean like from like okay we're getting a peterbilt to now you're doing most of the driving okay and and again mark is such a great teacher i wouldn't be sitting in the driver's seat if mark wasn't with me the whole time he he is my co-pilot so he checks the gauges because i look at these and i see a bunch of you know pretty pretty look at how beautiful they are and i'm i'm learning but right now for me to just take the wheel and drive and and take down the road and you know just enjoy it and be in my element um i just love it is it fun to drive it is when i say it's a gas to drive mark and i would just before we you know we before we take the lux so that we just go to rest steps all over you know up north luddington and further white lake and stuff and just sit at rest stops mark would get an ice cream and i'd be just sitting there and waving at everybody else we have the air horner i want a present um yeah it's just it's just cool and and it's automated so here's the tower this is what helps me the manual drive neutral you know everything and it's really just like driving a truck we also have an f350 and you know it just it feels very natural a lot of looks oh trish is definitely yeah she's on board yeah um a lot of looks from semi truck drivers they pass you they look over and you get a lot of thumbs up yeah a lot of thumbs up that is so fun and you know other drivers um they totally get that we're gonna swing wide i keep telling mike i said i think we should get something that says we swing wide like a regular semi and stuff and he's like i don't think so so i'm just like you know the nicest thing we can do is thank you so much you know i'd love a thing on the back of the rig that i could press that says thank you like a ticket yes and then you can have an alternate um ticker too i'm really i'm i'm pleased very pleased that i can do it and uh but i have the ability and that i love to do it right i really love it that's just the site what are your plans to where you like thinking about going uh i think right now we we actually thought after trish asked me that um we um would like to do the first couple of years seriously just enjoying michigan we love so much we love up north especially in the fall the wineries and just the drives and everything and we do have a granddaughter up in traverse city and um you know i would like to see her and just kind of stay local my dad's still in illinois and my siblings and stuff so we don't want to go crazy you know with the whole doctor appointment getting you know medical needs met um we have you know dogs that are getting up in age they're needing to go to the vet more often um i'm thinking about going to their vet i really like her [Laughter] it's great you should know though from personal experience because i saw that for a bit the way they take their temperature is definitely awkward the first time it is yeah in the whole there's several things that are a little awkward there's a little difference one two they were gonna give me a shot and um and then next thing you know they wanted me to like lick peanut butter off the wall and like to to keep my attention off of something else really i'm like no i'm fine you don't have to like distract me like that well and then yet they they have to weigh you all the time all the time it's probably yeah nutella i would look nice let's be honest yeah so i mean this is i mean i'm gonna be honest this is you know when i'm driving just like a a co-pilot would do a first officer um your camera's gonna think i'm big truck big garvey i think jd actually wears a very similar ring too so i think it could be very confusing very confusing and i know he's watching this by the way oh good because anything to do with the truck video he tunes in it's happening so i mean i know you know batteries and but when when i'm mark goes well how are your gauges looking when i'm driving down the highway and we just came through some construction i said sweetie i'm gonna we're gonna do a real good sit down one of these days and we're going to go through everything right now i just want to dry yeah i just want to drive it i know where the fuel is we have fuel let's go let's go we got this so a piece of advice for anybody that has like just a little trepidation they're not ready to make the leap but they want to start driving more and maybe not necessarily a peterbilt maybe it's a class a maybe it's just maybe it's an f150 150 exactly um a little piece of wisdom from you i already love that you said go slow take your time you're on your own time so but anything that you'd share with them to give them maybe just that little boost of confidence they need i'd say just get in and go for it you have to it's like just dive in well and i know when you drove and you pulled the trailer the first time yes we picked a highway in utah where it wasn't really busy and they were like crammer lanes they were kind of cush and so it was pretty nice and i think you know then you know you could do it and then what ends up happening is you know you're on a highway and it's all fine until it's not right and then you gotta focus and then you gotta focus and you get through it you realize all right i did i did that and then every once in a while you hit a cone yes now is it possible to carry the fifth wheel or connect the fifth wheel where the tractor fifth wheel is no because this this this hit here this it's called an 18 senior hitch okay it fits down at the very bottom of the frame rails gotcha and so there's no way you could there's too many cross members and stuff in here that you couldn't sink it down you got the drive shaft right there in the rear end gotcha so this thing has to go in an area where there's nothing below it okay uh so i cleaned all that out there's a crosstalk but i ordered it with this this frame extension on here yeah now normally they dug they you know they taper it yeah and it kind of makes a ramp for the the fifth wheel um but um and then i'm kind of surprised too like is is this fifth wheel okay so the issue with the fifth a regular fifth wheel does not pivot uh left to right it only pays forward so what happens is it transmits a ton of stress to the to the frame adapter right here yeah when you go over twisty roads like let's say the tractor dips into a you know around the corner yeah and this doesn't follow right away it puts a torque load on here that can damage the trailer okay here right suspension on all four corners yeah uh and it's got independent adjusters mm-hmm and they i can i option those to dump so i can dump the front end instead of waiting for it to come down you know for just for parking and looking cool hey does it sound there in it right now um yeah the truck still is there in it it keeps here for a couple days and wait motor again tell me again just for romans x15 605 horsepower and 2050 foot-pounds of torque and you said it's kind of like a car hauler design so you can lower it in the front this is the car haul right front axle okay that's what you're talking about with the front axle will be lower fit under a bridge with a car on the roof of the truck gotcha but then you used it just for the mean look of it right you know in the old days you see a truck gas it uh-huh it's waiting for the turbo to catch up that's why all that black smoke comes out of the exhaust until the turbo catches up and makes the fuel air makes you more correct uh-huh so um this truck here will only meter the manifold pressure as the fuel comes in at the same time so there's never any excess sod or smoke coming out of it oh it's already it's always delivering a clean burn so because it's not like i said when you have mechanical fuel injection put your foot on the pedal it just dumps fuel in there yeah and the heat has to generate this turbochargers don't run in wind they run in heat when the temperature starts spinning then the manifold pressure increases and the fuel mixture is then correct but it takes some time in the meantime you're burning soot off the exhaust now for the best part of the tour of all we've saved this for the very end because it's fantastic but we're talking about the air horn and these things don't have just any old air horn right no it's got a train horn train horn yeah but it even has some sort of like don't how do what do they do with the air how do they i got an air manifold right here okay there's a handle right here so when you open it up it's you can modulate it yeah make it sound like a train horn when you open it up you get a lot of flow you get a lot more much more flow than the lanyard style valve all right so you got the lanyard up there for just letting it rip yeah how does this work okay so here where do i want to stand here i want to see your hand and i also want to hear it so there we go [Music] wow that's loud how many horns is that under there there's some five of them that's awesome oh man that's loud well hold on so hold on how does that different than the the horns up top the horn the the lanyard up top it's the same horns uh it uses two less horns oh okay wow okay is that a peterbilt mod or is that is that a um target okay because i've seen this before so this is the manifold that controls the air right and you can just do it a little bit oh that's fantastic yeah can i try it's just a little too much okay so it's this lever right let's move it back back just a little bit isn't that awesome oh oh too loud yeah i kind of so that that lanyard up top is cool because it's just it's just three horns that's right it's for maryland just to nail somebody you know
