RuYi's Royal Love [Episodes 56-58] Recap + Review

hey today I'll be talking about episodes 56 through 58 of Reeves Royal love the emperor finally sacks up and goes to see his mom really he'd made up his mind not to go to war a while ago he was just too scared to tell her so he starts with the excuses we're too poor what about the soldiers he even says hongshuo should have someone to grow old with which foreign ER wanting to save her daughter but I'm really not liking her attitude of course and don't make that sound like he's the one being heartless you don't care at all about the soldiers that would die they've got mothers too she's being completely selfish and pretending that she's taking the high road but really what she's asking for is the death of hundreds or thousands so her daughter will be safe and it probably wouldn't even work the emperor makes it clear that he considered it but if they do declare war the new king will probably rape and or kill hongchua before they get a chance to save her I mean it's harsh but true if he's not marrying her then why would he bother to keep her around hang Cho's fate is already sealed and that's just the way it is now I'm obviously not expecting the emperor zoja to sip her tea calmly and say okay so my daughter is screwed either way so let's force her to get married but what exactly does she want him to do anyway she's pissed foreign ER become estranged consort shoe was given permission to bring her son back into the palace the emperor was called by astrologists into thinking that he and the temperance are ill-fated so he had him sent away but re managed to convince him to bring his son back on the trip back to the Palace as if to confirm the astrologer's words 10th Prince dies she goes to see the emperor for the most awkward comforting I have ever seen so so awkward Shu falls into a serious depression blaming herself for being too weak to protect her son not so it was all Yen one she bribed Midwife Tien to mess with shoes prenatal care making her sick and making 10 friends weak at Birth then bribed the astrologist to make the emperor believe in all this mumble jumble then convince the emperor to send ten friends away but to the emperor it's just the astrologers were right as always thinking only of herself despite all that's been going on yenwan has spent the last few weeks practicing her singing she sets up in a garden that she's heard the emperor frequence hoping to accidentally run into him instead she's overheard by rui who is not impressed she sends wrong pay over with a message by the way I love how much respect even Reese made commands actually creepy eunuch purposely gave Yen one a bad tip about this location still a bit upset about their argument and wanting to remind her who has the upper hand still it was really stupid of her to do this a prince literally just died I think for a second Yen one anyway he is ready to make up and tells yanuon how she can use this punishment to her Advantage when Shu comes to pray for her son yenwan is there waiting out of the kindness of her heart Yen once tells her the truth about the medicine that the emperor had been giving her yeah she tells her that the emperor never wanted her to get pregnant and it's his fault her child was born so weak when Marie found out about this she was really conflicted she wanted to tell Shu but what good would it do information like this can only cause pain of course that's exactly what yenwan wants shoe goes straight to the emperor never want to beat around the bush she tells him directly that she knows the truth and wants to know why the Emperor as always turns it around to make himself the victim do you know how hard it was for me to give you the contraceptive I wish I were kidding but no he actually says this [Music] is there's no going back from this as they both well know Shu bounced to him one last time goes home locks the gates and sets fire to her Palace committing suicide I really love this scene burning all of the poems she had written for him her baby's clothes just turning it all to Ash oh and not to be insensitive but damn it it would have been so nice if she could have just mentioned that it was yenwan who told her the truth before she died I'm so mad that she got away with this so cleanly Marie arrives at shoe's Palace to find chaos the servants are trying to put the fire out but with the doors barred there's only so much they can do it's too much for the very pregnant Marie and she goes into labor luckily she's able to safely give birth to a daughter the fifth princess Jing Su RI is fine but the daughter is in poor health with an incurable heart condition she won't be able to do anything too strenuous luckily she's a girl so while this is bad news it is still possible for her to have a normal life because of shu's recent death and because the country is kind of poor right now the payment to The Midwives and doctors is hats bad news for Midwife Tien who needs money to care for her daughter she ends up accepting even more money from yenwan putting herself further into her debt meanwhile Marie gets the news that she saw yenwan at the 10th princess Memorial just before she died the emperor's Dodger also finds out and calls yenwanin to see her before Marie can the emperor Soldier knows everything yanwan did messing with shu's meds meddling with Dr Jung and giving Shu that final push towards suicide it's quite a list but with May ching and now Shu useless to her the empress The Witcher is a bit desperate for lackeys so rather than punish yanwan the emperor zoager agrees to keep it quiet if she devotes herself to her the only hiccup is that rui knows as well and will no doubt want her head for this so the emperor's delivery intercedes giving yanwan a punishment herself wrong pay will go to her Palace every day for 100 days to slap her 10 times this is for sure way too light of a punishment but since the emperor zoager has already decreed it RI can't add to it or change it she could go to the emperor but one she hasn't got enough evidence and two doesn't want to get into a fight with the ambristo wager wrong pay makes sure to get her times worth though with some seriously heavy-handed slap could not have picked a better person for this and it's thanks to this punishment that we get literally the funniest scene in this drama Melody I love wrong pain so we have never seen anyone talk to the emperor like that though I guess if anyone it would be his mom it's just such a shame though that it's not for something he's actually done wrong I really don't think the empress The Witcher has a leg to stand on in this argument it's not like he wants to do it it's just what it has to be she keeps saying not protecting his sister will make him a bad Emperor but you know what would make him a worse Emperor disregarding his subjects to protect his sister instead of arguing over lost causes I wish the empress villager would use her power to get him to treat his sons better or get rid of Yen one I don't know anything useful finally rest in peace consort shoe she was just not built for this life all she wanted was to be happy with the man she adored she never schemed against any of the other women or children she worked so hard to toe the line between mother and son and keep everyone happy and this is what it got her in the end and once again the empress Dowager does not care she's already on to her next victim yanwan is ready to be used and now for a look at the book things for Shu pretty much shake out the same but she's actually actually with the temperance when he dies re and Hylan go to see her and have to coax the dead baby from her arms RI gets angrier and angrier as she thinks about the emperor's hand in this and the fact that he hasn't even been to see shu Hylan looked at re worriedly I'm afraid it's not simply politics maybe the emperor is also worried about causing pain by being here ree's heart jumped she sneered causing pain by being here right why wouldn't his being here cause pain Temperance had been born weak he had grown up taking medicine for his illness how could anyone know that it was really due to the contraceptive medication the emperor had been giving ejuan that had weakened her body and harmed the mother and child it was no wonder he didn't dare come wasn't willing to come Ruiz heart hardened in an instant she reached out for Johan forcing herself to speak gently and with the cold objectivity of an onlooker she said the child is dead go and make the emperor look with his own eyes look at how his son died despite all of the Medical Treatments only letting him see it with his own eyes will carve it into his bones so he will never forget it when Shu leaves Highland Commons that it seems ree has begun to resent the emperor and this is why they had to make the emperor so much nicer in the drama as cold as he is in the book If ree were still in love with him it would point to something seriously wrong with her mental state whereas in the drama he's terrible but still warm enough that I can understand the childhood sweetheart not yet falling completely out of love with him so Shu goes to see the emperor then she gets comforted then things turn out exactly the same with Yen Juan revealing the secret to her at 10 Prince's prayer site and then one of my favorite scenes in the book so far the scene with yenwan singing and trying to get the emperor's attention plays out a bit differently and is very hilarious yanuon sets herself up in a garden and to her credit she sounds wonderful she's overheard by rui Ying fifth Princess and the Emperor who is enraptured RI unwittingly took a step back and her eyes met Ling Yun ches as he was following behind the emperor Ling yincha had also guessed the identity of that person he merely shook his head slightly and turned his gaze as if he had not heard a thing the owners of rui's mouth sank and her expression darkened so the emperor is captivated by the voice and yuncha chirps up that I must be a really talented singer from the non-food troupe the same Troop that may came from then RI gives ying a look and she takes the hint pulling the emperor away to go listen to music at her Palace re let out a sigh of relief falling a few steps behind is it consort Ling you and Cha smiled bitterly it's her voice when we were younger she loved to sing opera she had some skill I can recognize her voice wrong pay snorted I thought she had been quiet these last few days so this is where she was hiding Rie glanced at Hearn said since you don't like it Go punish her on my behalf tell her she's not allowed to act like such a fox going forward then wrong pay and Liu go to see her and they turn it all around lying to yenwan and saying that the emperor had mistaken her for a lowly non-fu singer and they hope he doesn't end up calling her in to perform for everyone anyway I just love this scene because I feel like I can so easily see their expressions as they struggle to handle Yen won they are sick to death of her as am I till next time thanks for watching
