RUDNIKS GTR IS GETTING RESTORED! ( ITS JUNK!)

welcome i don't like that we have to do this right now so as you know we started a skyline restoration shop in this little this little village in new milford and uh we got a lot of gtrs we got one two three four five six seven eight and a bunch outside so we got about 12 gtrs to my knowledge but today we got a new one my favorite one mine look at this all this junk merch is perfect for today i was dreading this video for a while now to be honest when ronick said he was going to move home and we had a shop ready i was like dude i'll store your gtr and he sounded excited but then he last couple the last couple of days he's been a little concerned i'm definitely excited i'm just like the car looks like such [ __ ] right now but this is it and i know it's my fault because i had this like kit installed and stuff but as soon as as soon as it got on i hated it like absolutely hated it and it's just like stupid [ __ ] like you got this wiper don't you don't start i'm gonna start and you're gonna explain yourself okay you don't start taking tearing [ __ ] apart okay so there's a lot i disagree with on this car and the biggest thing that i would say i disagree with is the whole style that you and roberto were going for when you bought this car so that's my first point in this whole video if there's anything i can teach you it's don't take the scumberto route and go oh we'll get a cheap one and we'll make it nice because it always [ __ ] cost you more and this is example [ __ ] eddie so let's just start we could just say what you paid for the car you know you paid 16 five for the car was a great deal now that is perfect for a part out at now if you paid 65 and parted out now before you went and [ __ ] it all up you would have profited but you know what i'm saying the first thing that happened is rodney put chinese coil packs in and dildo the engine that was the first thing that was the first thing that was my fault right not really uh that was a multitude of things the biggest one is the first thing i told you not to do what was the first thing i told you not to do well you told me not to do a lot what was the first thing i told you not to do on this car that was part of your oh the stock turbos yes so i told him do not max out the stock turbos and roberto and other people around him said it's fine the exhaust is going out so when you blow a turbo it just goes down the exhaust it's not true if you blow a rear turbo in these cars the equivalent of stopping a bullet with a fan is basic that's it the [ __ ] is spinning at like 30 000 rpms explodes and it's gonna go whatever direction it wants whether you're on the throttle or not so you probably just killed cylinder five and six you definitely had lower compression in those two it happens every time the engine was garbage after the engine was garbage what year is the car it's not 91. 91 so it's not the worst but okay so 91 so right there the engine blew because of his fault and his influences right even though i tried to influence him and told not to he took i took the contest he took the content around blew his engine what it cost you luckily well luckily before all this what are these engines now like 10 10 12 grand was this an r33 yeah this is an r3 r33 would have cost you like 12. so i i mean i got pretty lucky then well i'll keep them pretty lucky so okay so right off rip your cheap car immediately 21. cost it cost you 55. yeah okay right off rip then the paint had to be addressed now what'd you do wait the paint the paint oh well so the door handle had barnacles the roof the roof was sun faded um like the bonnet lip um completely i was going like a hundred down the road completely fell off it that had to be rebuilt and then just the hood needed to be re-sprayed okay so oh and since they are did the roof they had to like kind of fade blend yeah blend the clear coat back right how much were you into just that don't talk about any other body stuff that you had done probably three grand two grand yeah i have probably around there okay so now we get to pick apart the bodywork so when you have a skyline and when you see the value of them today they are worth a lot of money but not when you get cheap bodywork done so looks okay through here looks like they removed that they did not remove the rear window so all this paint is attached to your trim if you run your finger it wasn't taken off or wasn't taped correctly i think you can actually peel this back put your finger on it and run it and it will chip to [ __ ] so stop what you're doing right now yeah so this is one piece now here let's get in there it's like molded together he put tape so if i were to take this off this whole thing it would look like [ __ ] and you should have because these these rear windows that's how you replace this trim you have to buy the whole rear window like 300 bucks so not bad so then you have no rear trim but yet did he paint in there or did the trim come off after i feel a tape on so it looks like there's paint in there so that's okay-ish as long as he did it all the way around so now this is devaluing even though it cost you money it devalued the car right you think painting the whole roof devalued it i think because of that had he painted the roof and took the glass out uh it would have raised the value because it's not like i mean it's it's not a great paint job you can see how like foggy it is and like textured it is dirty yeah but i can see the paint so what you're looking for is a crisp edge around the light reflection so that's when you look at good paint you see the light reflection it looks foggy yeah that's because i mean tj could attest this that's because the there's no clarity in it isn't that what a good buff job's for well you can buff it but if it's clear-coated and any any if this is a clear coat well that's what all that is and look i mean you got like nibs in the paint it's called solvent pop well like this is nibs right that's like dirt those are nibs yeah and then when you and then no that's in the paint why are you saying that's not that is all the way down that that was a piece of dirt on bare metal even this all those i didn't i swear to god i didn't even know you won't notice it a lot of people all this fogginess now that's all they sprayed their sealer and didn't let them dry enough so when they sprayed their clear coat clear coats the shell it locks everything in the solvent from the sealer is trying to come up so as this dries first all those bubbles get trapped in the clear coat and then now you're clear well i mean can you buff that to make it better but it'll it'll never have [Music] regardless from five feet that looks okay but with a cheaper skyline you get all this i mean there's trim missing here but you get all this bad trim like this like this is all terrible well don't open the door we're not doing the interior yet we're not doing we're not there yet so then you went and [ __ ] it up and did a body kit which we know it's whatever but the mounting of the body kit is very questionable there's drywall screws and machine screws holding your body kit on it it was expensive there's an argument that you did that wait did what remounted the body kit i've never touched this body kit so what happened was i bought this body kit for 500 bucks because my friend josh he got like ripped off on a skyline or something he was going a different route so it's like all right 500 bucks whatever like it's cool see what it looks like and um i brought it to the body shop and i was just like yeah throw this together and i just i guess i didn't ask for a price which was my bad and um did he do the roof and stuff all the same time yeah everything at once i mean the door handle handles were separate but everything else was done at once but um well the body kit didn't even make it the way home so this car was never driven after the body kit pretty much you drove it like one time to your house yeah i would say with that body kit there's probably 10 miles okay so so what's holding the body kit on are two different screws i don't know those are the same but these are self tappers so we have to oh god we have to weld all that back up the side skirts are are hideous but they're kind of is there double sided tape holding them on or is that old okay these are the same and it's cracked already and it's not even lined up because the kit didn't fit well so look see how there's like this gap hold on let me get the camera to see that gap there that should've been pushed all the way in this is barely on the edge yeah that's not just cracked it's been popping your diffusers so that actually literally happened just trailering it yeah just dropping who did this bracket made out of like old home depot uh okay so that's heinous i didn't do any of the body kit okay so this one started coming off this one fell off completely on the highway or um so we pulled out at a gas station it was literally just like hanging there so i took a bunch of pictures and stuff and then i literally was just able to pop it right off so this is the [ __ ] you get with buying like a cheap skyline you have to replace all the trims so just to give you an idea if you buy a cheap scouting like oh replace lgm it's about three grand plus a glass guy because you can't just put this back in the retainers that hold it are under the glass they get glued in so yours are all missing which means your rear window has to come out yeah did you know that i was kind of hoping we just pop a trim in yeah that'd be cool right so all this trim is pretty expensive these are an okay shape but this is attached to it so it's evenly painted but these are attached to it and this is a rubber this sucks and it's gross and it looks nasty from even here so body kit aside so right now how much you have into it paint body work engine you're five grand four grand into paint bodywork yeah about probably five grand setting and then you're 55 into the engine let's just say we put it in stock so 26 26.5 now when you just rather bought a 26 000 gtr and not had the mileage that your car has i guess but at the time i sold a car to get the 16 000 and all of that makes sense i'm just trying to prove my point that you don't want to go the cheaper now we can get in the interior going the cheap route usually means higher mileage which usually means a bad interior i mean in fairness though every gt most gtrs have this how many sets of seats do i have out there how many of them have this how many of them no none of those seats are from yeah there's not a car in this shop i've seen personally a lot of gtrs like that that roberto [ __ ] sold somebody there are in this in this shop there is not another gtr the seat that looks like this in this whole shop it's annoying because all of this happens it gets everywhere like you have to take the seed out just to be able to clean up this mess like just right so we got some here which is the seat belt which that's just pure mileage that's just pure mileage that does that this is all pure mileage i don't know what you were sold on for the for the mileage but it has a lot he's got a dash bubble but the the dash looks like it has varicose veins yeah the dash is not the dash is bad but i mean the interior's you know it's okay the interior i sold you these door panels yeah with these door panels right here this was all ripped yeah that's all from milo if you rested your arm on this you would literally cut your arm if you bought this car now the parts that you needed would be triple the money that then when you bought them and it's crazy the tesla system was bad i had to sell you in a tessa palm yeah and that sucked to do it that's a so engine a tesla pump yeah interior exterior what was the redeeming quality of this car that it was a gtr that existed on the earth it was a cheap gto yeah sick dude let's be realistic though it's 16 grand for a gtr if i got a dj for 16 grand i would just thrash it i wouldn't do anything to make it prettier but i guess but now you're here so moving along you you are responsible for all this so i can make fun of you here no i can take responsibility for 90 of this okay so first and foremost first and foremost the radiator is barely held on you have no shroud so starting in the beginning of the car what kind of intercourse i remember you said it was something cool um it's the arc arc that's cool there's no bolts in your inner core piping that holding it these intakes are scumberto spec for sure why isn't the timing cover on did you want to see the camera the timing cover was on but when we did the trigger kit um this didn't fit behind it and i just took that like this and like the body kit was kind of all happening at the same time i gave it to him after i saw it back from the body shop i parked it and never looked at it again okay i hate this thing let me ask you something your door handles have barnacles yes what are these barnacles from did you did you dock this in west palm or honey we were just talking like 30 minutes ago we opened the engine bay and that's the first time i saw it i have no idea it's growing barnacles is that a thing like no it's it's oxidation from the brake fluid all over it and your frame rail yeah it's leaking it's coming through the pores who knows so engine bays whatever i mean we knew we know this we know this is all rudding this isn't from his purchase but this thing has hella miles and we're gonna restore this whole thing for one where'd you get this oil filter relocation kit nice listen there just tell me they're not bad who told you that roberto send you the link for that got it from ebay so rav performance is an ebay shop i love calling people out dude this is he puts these on every car i've seen him they're [ __ ] heinous take a drill bit drill it out to board out a little bit jb weld the fittings and then it doesn't leak you had to do all that is that like a normal did he did he preface that so yeah you buy them from ebay first thing you do is you take a little dremel you dremel out the holes and then the fitting how much is that how much is that 50 bucks so you know like a grady it's like 119 dollars the ones we run all our cars so so he told you buy this all you have to do i just want to make sure no but this is heat's not hiding this so he gives you the plans how to modify the oil filter housing yeah so you so you dremel it out you dremel out the holes so how long do you think it took you super restrictive oh yeah um how long did it take me to drill them out i should do the whole modification of the ten minutes ten minutes ten feet literally just take the fittings off jb weld like the threads screw it back up so they don't ever leak yeah so happened okay so that's what you can expect that's convertible spec this dude has some spec what was it rob spec or something uh that's heinous and and it's just so weird to save 70 in probably the most important part of the car the oil it did not break do not do not stand up for that that thing is getting [ __ ] melted down i mean i have one on my roadster too every every um oh i have it on the rice or two every single oil relocation oil filter relocation has that on my so the cool thing he has is high mount uh hks blow-off valve pipe um what's with the tomato what's with the fuel system why change the fuel system just curious did someone tell you to did you want the pretty bling what was the deal i played the fifth so this was just it's okay it was the special pack you know someone sold you that pack yeah jesus christ so this is the next thing we had a car come in and the guy had enough fuel to make like 1200 horsepower i've yet to find a person that i've talked to i'm sure it's happened that is max out the stock fuel rail um there's no evidence that you need to to do do a fuel rail there's no evidence that you know this aftermarket fuel pressure with his gauge all that stuff nismo fuel pressure regulator fuel pressure sensor in line and an oem fuel rail and we've made well i mean on the on the r32 the four-door we made 500 horsepower 493 horsepower on that without even doing a nismo fuel pressure regulator to be honest looking at like the the stock fuel like everything that you do it looks better way better and there's less failures because there's i mean i actually mounted i'm sure you did there's one bolt in it i mean realistically there's not much not many places yeah there is you could put it here where it's flat but then that's it no no no no you could have put it somewhere flat so this is jank this is this isn't jank that doesn't move too much it's just [ __ ] i wish shank about it here come on come here what we do is we make a horizontal one that uses these two has a plate that goes this way and mounts a relocation right there similar place but it uses two existing holes already already there and this is realistically what your engine should look like this is the beautiful stock fuel rail this is the nismo fuel pressure regulator we put a fuel pressure sensor in and the hall attack can read all that so if we ever have a drop in fuel pressure the hall tech stops instead of having a gauge that you have to pull over to check and you can't check wide open throttle so there's that okay so the this is [ __ ] that's jank you the hds is cool but you just don't need it you spent money where you didn't need it how much would you say the fuel rail the tollway fuel press regulator all the am lines i mean you're 600 bucks into that yeah not too much but just 600 i could have gone somewhere else you're still on the old ass unknown mileage itbs you know none of that's been restored so um it's cool you have a tome uh make brakemaster stopper yeah what's up with the mono wiper that is the most aids thing i've ever seen somebody do honey um i asked alex to put my wipers on just said hey put my wipers on yeah and he put one on um i guess he could only find one okay so he put it like that but that's that's kind of his style that's what he likes to do i hate him tell him to stop that was another thing i wasn't really driving this car so i was just like [ __ ] it and i just literally parked it in my garage and never looked at it because i i knew my lmgt2s were coming in and stuff i knew i wanted to take this off so i was just waiting for the lmgt2s and then i realized i was coming back here and then you're like oh don't put him i've been a full-time job to not get him to just put his wheels on for some stupid [ __ ] video and do the whole one we're gonna do the whole if you put the wheels on and took this body kit off this car would look sick guaranteed sure look it look great especially on camera body kit is aids though i [ __ ] hate this like this is stupid too look at this what is that great stuff spray foam insulation or wood what do you mean it's too it's yellow tape it's a glue to it i don't know it's stuck there though it's glued and well they glued the splitter hey that's not that bad huh we can take that right off now yep you can probably is this ebay what yeah it's ebay is it ebay i didn't put that that's a they have nismo breaker or intercooler air guides so the hike has been deleted but not correctly we've got high gas lines the highest on the palm how did you uh wait the steering rack was welded in the back yeah that's converto spec i can't believe people bring their cars to this guy so anyway we're gonna just correct all this that's that's our goal we have to correct all of this body kit drive train we're gonna jet hot coast stuff we're gonna zinc plate stuff we're gonna upgrade some stuff we're going to make stuff actually work the way it was supposed to in fact it's so funny to spend 600 on fuel stuff you don't need and not buy the 12 bushings someone told you you needed this but not those this wasn't always like this doesn't matter you could tell this one's still good but it's [ __ ] dry routed to [ __ ] it's gonna happen to that one honestly if that one looked like this i'll be honest i never would have replaced it yeah that's your problem all right i'm sorry if this one looks yeah i understood what you mean yeah now we're gonna get this on the lift and how does it look underneath i think good pinch welds frame rate no the whole car is pretty solid that's good abs delete replace master clutch master clutch booster what do you think of this i hate that what's so bad about it though okay so do you see these proper though okay do you see these open this don't look at it just open it from the back do you see these oh these are nice i didn't know they made these yeah so they make these instead of using three two zip ties this is roberto spec i've seen him do it before i actually think marcus came up with it no mark roberto showed him how to do it he did it on my on my car and i cut them all off so oh these are the wrong size but it would do the same thing i mean other than the zip ties i mean no i mean it's it's something it's something put it back in there proper ish so those exist we're gonna change the location we're gonna not unrelocate your battery because i hate that you hate that i hate relocated batteries it just causes problems so abs delete clean up oem fuel system itb is restored oil pan restored powder coating vapor blasting replacing of jank intakes uh that i know those were on a car roberto worked on because i've seen them before were these filters brand new um yeah they were they were brand new they look like [ __ ] and just cleaning new cowl underhood painting we're probably gonna take this thing off unfortunately even though i love the under hood insulation this one's got no outer life that's that's probably what did it huh got caught in the fan shroud yeah and we just got to address all the maintenance and we're just gonna give you a twenty thousand dollar bill oh that's not bad we'll work something out anyway i don't know what we're gonna do about the seats but that's on him we'll jet hot coat we'll do a head gasket because once again roberto likes to use the oem paper gasket he did it on my guard it's not they're not good head studs he didn't take the head off and refinish it he dropped one head stud in at a time i'm sure am i wrong no that's how we did it well yeah that's i mean that's how he does it so it's really really shade tree mechanic the way it does and he gets it done this card runs drives the cold starts trash but it runs drives it moves um inconsistently makes power breaks up occasionally causes some ruckus and still has the old original engine harness which will change out we'll put his timing stuff back on i mean how close could this be to just we'll delete all these coolant hoses drain to the radiator you'll have no coolant hoses right behind the engine you're going to film the whole thing so your viewers can see it sure yeah all right well i guess let's get to work yeah we're going to get it on the lift now and we'll show you the other side and then just going to get to work so rodnick's engines out looking kind of grody how junk was his clutch josh [Music] yeah well he just built the car so here's his car all raped and pillaged um and we found some interesting stuff tj falwell scraping the bay and getting it ready this entire frame rail is exposed steel and you can see the rust starting there he must have a loose brake line i would assume that just soaked underneath the undercoating and was about to cause a problem like another year or a couple months that would have been severe rot i would think so engine's out it's ready for sanding and getting ready for rehab rehabilitation uh we're gonna be able to get it back together as soon as possible once we go through the engine what else you got yeah something else funny oh he reused his old motor mount and it ripped very common he had a bad axle i can see at some point or currently very dumb ass he used garage door springs this is the scumberto fix puts garage door springs on to keep the wastegates closed i mean it's okay for a temporary situation if you're trying to test something on the dyno you don't leave it like this that's hack you get the right wastegates the amount of boost you want to run that's the whole point of wastegates you target the boost with the wastegate and then you're good to go so we got a little bit of work ahead of us with this um but the guys are gonna get on it we gotta get it on the stand tomorrow i'm gonna end the video there you have anything to say about this gem uh not really i mean it is this [ __ ] redneck's engine it's funny because this is like a fresh build well it's funny that he has this no one has this no one has the one that has it supposedly they needed that to tune it that's what they told rudnick yeah so pretty much stock car they needed a prp cam uh what is it called trigger kit it's a little better it's a little worse there's positive negative i don't think this build needed it he does need axles probably all around yeah all bad and he needs just a lot of work so we'll get into it we'll bang this thing out and we'll see you guys next time um like i said our goal is like two maybe three weeks depending on parts availability and what i can trick him into buying uh to upgrade because that clutch is jank he just needs to do a bunch of little upgrades and he's considering doing turbo so if we can talk him into some better turbos i love how he had arp pressure plate bolts but then rounded out stock flywheel bolts for the azetti plywood that's sick it's almost like you couldn't just about the the right flywheel bolts you know where that's from you're not tightening brake line and brake fluid leaked all over and that's exposed steel so if you didn't do this dumb like restoration you would it would have started rusting bad it's still early that's so this is just surface i think so yeah so we can just we can fix it but had you just continued about your thing well you couldn't even see it until you blew the [ __ ] undercoating off all right susie pressure was under the undercover yeah as soon as you press watch it all came off if it was like that it would have been rusting the whole time so we saved it we saved you that's good we're gonna add five grand to the bill nope
