hey gang so today we're gonna focus on pressure and rotary I'm gonna do it a little different today I'm gonna take you along for the ride and give you the experience of what it is that I am doing what I am feeling what a short radius turn feels like alrighty so let's get started oh yeah my past life I was a ski racer these days short radius turns I'm loving it I want to give you guys the feeling of what I'm experiencing while I'm making these turns first off I'm foot to foot meaning outside foot outside foot I find my new outside foot really early new foot new foot new foot new foot that's pressure the cuff right cuff left cuff right cup that's ankle alright so I'm not going fast right now I'm focusing on my feet then the outside foot what am I feeling here I got the ball on my outside foot the pad right where my big toe meets the pad of my foot so getting my rotary action my turning action coming from my knee down my lower leg I got a lot of turning action out of my lower leg and my ankle and foot I'm stroking that ski damn gonna stop here and I'm gonna show you that lower look at this turning action see how much turning I have right there out of my lower leg that is golden in the moguls golden when I'm on the flat keeping my foot to foot rotary happen let's do a few more [Applause] I'm not pivoting you guys I'm steering my feet in my boots are so active right cuts left cuff right ball of my foot left ball steering lower leg how about my upper body posture and my pole plant side of the wrist still getting up and balance okay so I'm use it maybe a little more rotor or use it a little more retraction to manage my pressure then I am for half that I emphasize so much with the general public who's kind of in the back seat [Applause] tired people wonder if I feel my heel which I do follow the foot then I stroke and I do feel the heel somewhat how much is my femur turning I don't know but I sure feel my lower leg and foot I haven't talked about edging yet of course I'm using my edges but it's not as much of a focus low edge angle not high edge angle like carving one of the things about short radius turns is a deep complete turn shape which most people don't do requires a lot of separation keep in mind these short radius turns relate to your success in moguls so we're gonna break over onto a steeper pitch here to be successful in moguls you need to be able to make sure radius turns with consistent turn shape and speed control like we're experiencing right now [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right gang so there's three things we do on our skis we pressure we steer and turn and we edge for this video I was focusing on pressure my favorite I think pressure makes rotary and edging better and then rotary probably my favorite skill
