Ross Chastain Fights, Arguments and Temper

good start for Blaney this time freakin Smith hanging right there though not going to give up on this opportunity oh and look at this thing's heating up down here on the front straightaway Ross Chastain being told not so happy with the way you drove Orion ravy ended up in the wall in turns three and four on that last lap Florida Stroeve into us into one he afterwards he just said it was a green white checkered which I'm not sure what that means cuz I've done a lot of green white checkers and hey you know you doesn't mean it's just a free-for-all you go down there and dump somebody I'd like to know what he said you know he was talking to me I couldn't hear because his helmet was on but you know it's just it's one of those racing things it's a green white checkered at Iowa and can't say enough no sponsors on the car brought a home Tim Cole Custer again through the grass damage this time a lot more damage to the front end of the five the last time was some contact made between Bowl and Matt DiBenedetto we'll see if this was contact again he was running 18th still a lap down you see all the damage to my front of that number five [Music] the racetrack [Music] how car could've hit him they were down the straightaway is that was really odd looking you ah stayin we've heard his name a lot today's qualified 11th you've had a good run going and I heard on the radio so back and forth about the 51 car what happened you guys first of all on track and then when we came in under caution well with our two teams we run together every week you know knows the tale wonder from the other and we've ran into each other for three years now had a bunch of stuff off the track happen and I'm I've been good with it I've I feel like been the bigger man in a lot of cases so I started it today I got into him when the six and the 48 we're we're crying you know trying to wreck each other and get into one I pushed him up and went on by and we were in the bottom and pulled away and then the caution came out for rain he got on my back bumper on the front stretch and tried to wreck us and I told my owner Johnny and said if when we get out I'm gonna go talk to him and I'm not doing anything in the car I don't want to crash a racecar so we got out and I'd kind of forgot about it to be honest and tonight grabbed me by my shoulders kind of pushed me I just turned around saw who it was and hope he realizes now that you can talk we can talk it's but you can't grab somebody by the shoulders and I've had to happen before and I said right then I've never let it happen again so what's done is done I hope we get to go back race in our GK's services car is good really good I found some grip on the bottom there and want to get back up there really eleventh or twelfth place car you know realistically we're back in nineteen can we miss the wave-around so I'm not trying to be like Kevin by any means I didn't go I don't want to go look for it but I gotta stand out to myself at some point Rick yeah Ross Chastain in the for Brenda God in the 62 and those two trade in the little paint the 62 on the floor it seems like it's never ending between these two this is for trying to get by the 62 up the racetrack they go and sideways is Ross Chastain in that for but able to clear the 62 these two keep banging into each other at this kind of speeds and it's not going to end well this is some of the that was the punt right there Cory on Joey and you can see it bent up the hood on Ross's car yeah it was a pretty solid hit there yeah that's been pretty aggressive but you know we don't know everything that took place before that and Parker there's a bit of a dust-up after the race who's involved down there right Davers it was basically Ross Chastain and Joey GaSe you guys we saw a little bit video on Twitter between you two what happened out there on the racetrack uh basically I drove him hard into the key and passed him clean and he left the hope and I went there and I had the five round on me I had to go and then go into the esses he hit me I don't know three or four different turns and never got off my bumper and pushed me to the sand so I don't really appreciate that a whole lot he's kind of Johnny Davis's golden child and can't do anything wrong and he forgets that we're right there with them now and the funny thing is he also forget is that he was trying to get in the chase and only way we can do that where we win so he's trying to do that off a point so can make that a really really difficult for him and people just got to remember that we're here the race two people are used to me I mean this is the most fun the ship I ever had so this is the best I've ever ran this year and we're improving every race so people forget I guess where I've been and where I am now so I guess that's pretty much all you got to say but I just gotta thank sparks energy and Patrick and Bobby daughter and Archie and everyone for giving me this opportunity and we'll just keep on getting better every week well guys you heard it there from Joey might make it a little tough on Ross going forward here after that sort of ggressive race we've called these tracks basically the the road courses like short tracks and obviously we're seeing some tempers flare here you saw as the battle for the lead heated up to the point where they were side by side trying to come out of turn two and contact with the wall for Ross Chastain spin for Kevin Harvick and the caution has come out here in Darlington we've seen this before haven't we gale two cars just cannot fit on the accident turn two then there was a lap card make it three wide and you can see the results not enough real estate for everyone and Steve Ross came on the radio and said he wrecked us they all dream take another look at what happened all started right here getting into turn one that lap car of the 40 is definitely hold up 242 Harvick knows it he tries to get through there the 42 squeeze his dad Harvick does not get out of the gas he slides up they both run out of real estate I'm not sure how hard the 98 was into the 42 before the 42 hit the outside wall and out of the car already is the driver of the 98 Kevin Harvick Dave burns too soon so Kevin describe what you saw is your opportunity there with a lap car and then how much you tried to stay off of the 42 yeah I mean I tried to stay as low as I could and he just rode on my door that's just a really an experienced racer and a really bad move there and got not the air on got on beside me and just kept going through racetrack I couldn't do anything with the wheels so got a really inexperienced guy in a really fast car that made a really bad move and then wrecked me you know down the back straightaway hooked me to the right so just probably the reason that you'll never get to drive many of them again shortened day for Kevin Harvick Ross Chastain ends up 25th after winning both stages Ross what happened there down and turned to with Kevin Harvick for your point of view I just can't think everybody CGR enough honestly Jeff Polikarpov giving off this opportunity is is once in a lifetime man and I'm trying to race for these guys and you know felt like I was holding my own learned a lot on the restarts with them and I was really happy to be out there racing with them up into that point so DC solar Chevy was fast man jeez it's so crazy how how fun that was the drive tried to run the wall I've been working with Josh wise and her bytes EGR shifflett they've been on me just just drive the car do what I know how to do and still have a long way to go but just thankful for the opportunity do you feel like you squeezed Kevin Harvick off too man I'm just just trying to race and up to see the film you know if I made a mistake it's on me being a leader there I felt like you know I'm just I'm just trying to race man and and just we've given each other room all day so you know it's just it's unfortunate because I really wanted to make DC solar proud and Jeff and Paulette and everybody CGR I mean they gave me this opportunity and just really thankful for that obviously a disappointing day end of the day for Ross Chastain his position which is you know what it's just pressure even if I can't do anything else pressure pressure pressure force these drivers to beat him this is a difficult pass driving underneath the 60 a Briscoe car gets really loose Chastain make any loose with the rear bumper up the racetrack he catches a 60 into the wall he goes caution comes out an aggressive move by a driver who's trying to continue his playoff hopes chase Briscoe in that 60 he want the most recent race one at the Charlotte rovol he got into the wall the caution came out that means restart Matt Tifft he cannot lose this cool I know he's upset and I'd be upset too at Ross chess team but he's gonna have to keep his career don't damage your car under caution just be cool here man you're gonna get a restart get him back then Rick you can't take away the storybook season certainly can't take away the win that happened earlier this year but for Ross Chastain the playoff run is over with walk me through those final 17 laps after that restart you move the two were you thinking for a moment we're in the right spot well it's too many mistakes on my part first thought I spent on pit road they're just trying to roll up to those guys and be the best we could and slight guys behind and then just playing catch-up from there and then we had the car looking at it now to do it just I didn't I was just trying to go by those guys so he ran into me after we stopped down there for lug nut check but I'm not sorry at all this is awesome this four car and what we've done with JT Motorsports and Chip Ganassi Racing that as a to help me get here um you know running that car a couple of times there by a DC solar is is awesome and I don't apologize for what I do on the racetrack I bring my friends with me and I'll use your melon Chevy was fast enough to do it so it's racing man it's awesome we were in the heart of it we did our job you know coming here and we got a lot to be proud about who would have thought it this race team this small race team made it to the round of 12 Dillon they nearly made it to the round of 8 but and the guy that did that just beat him for that spot is Matt Tifft you can breathe sigh of relief take us through I mean what is it like when you are in that position and you were trying to go get every single position you can how intense is that behind the wheel it was it was very intense especially the last part of the race we just we weren't very good today we've had a lot of really good strong runs but unfortunately today just wasn't one of them but you know just getting ourselves back in the hornet's nest you know between fifth and 20th place back there is gonna be a mess so I got underneath the 60 car and I don't know I guess he was just gonna drive through us lucky I was able to save it but you know we got out of it and we're able to focus on the next round that's out of my head now and we got big picture things to worry about and we've had some great top five runs this first round so we got a lot of speed we'll find it back and that's we're focused on the championship we don't need worry about that the bumper tap on the fork are coming back in what was that about foot slipped off the clutch and tap tonight I didn't mean anything honestly but you know like I said we got bigger things to worry about if you know if we didn't make it might be a little more upset but we made it through and we did what we need to do so we'll get better he's on to the next round by three points Matt Tifft continues to race on the car hard into the wall so Allgaier one of the drivers we expected at the beginning of the season will be running for a championship and be a competitor here at this race into the wall looks like nobody around it well this is the rest I love to call to come get tires because it opened up the strategy but you have to take care of your car back in the pack something has got seven turned around and some pretty heavy damage to that right rear quarter panel now let's see what happened here going through there side by side is almost impossible for the you can see right there just a difficult situation for all drivers involved and he gets the worst of it Roz Chast agents consensus ODB drives into the left rear quarter panel and then I think Malayalee said hey I've already spun up so let me spend pletely out Ricky has been released from the infield care center so there was initial contact then there was a second set of contact what is your thoughts or opinions on the second set of contact now the buckle up section melon buckle up New York Chevy was running good we really had we really had a pretty good car for for no decals on it but the biggest thing was that I did have my seat belts on our nine-point safety harnesses didn't hold me in it might just did their job the tires really were aggressive I guess I don't thing I've ever hit tires before so I didn't expect when I did slide into him I thought it was a sound off up and keep going but they grabbed the car and destroyed it so hate that hate that for Johnny Davidson Gary Keller you know if we've had a long history together we love you love each other like like two fathers to me and that will always go on for the into the end of time so just proud of the effort to show up here together again and everything with seat went smooth promote everything up your Monday and Tuesday and just really proud to drive there number four car a pretty beat up number seven car for Justin Allgaier but it winds up finishing four so it kind of walked me through coming back to the field and also on that next last restart the contact with Bell yeah you know the the day was up-and-down for sure I mean we had to battle some adversity you know Jason did a great job on pit calls and he left his out there and I and when we come in and put tires on my new we're catching this guys in front and just kind of hoping it would go green to be honest and then when we had the cautions you know I got kind of behind I won and then we were three wide getting into the essence I don't think Christopher knew we were three wide he pulled off a heck of a save but that let the 22 go biasing it hit damage I left from pretty good but you know I had talked to Austin he drove a great race cool to get the first win so congratulations to him just a long day for our brand profession our culture Camaro but still a solid points day and we can go to the next week to mid-ohio know they have a good time we rarely see you upset but you and Ross Chastain had a run in mid race and and then you ran back into him was that intentional in your behalf to go back out and seek him or how did that develop in your mind oh you know Ross and I have had a rocky relationship you know we've had some contact you know he just eat you took advantage in the bus stop and wreck me on purpose and that was disappointing I had every intention of probably turning him around I didn't want to run into the fence so my apologies to Johnny Davis and that for team I had no intention to wrecking their car but I wanted to make sure that I got the point across that you know that's not the first time that he's run into me and and and you know hurt our day and it's just frustrating when people race you like that weekend a week out so just a shame that it had in that way
