Rookie Stars Shine on SNF! (Eagles vs. Cowboys 2016, Week 8)

[Music] the NFL season is approaching the halfway mark and the marquee matchup of week eight is here in Arlington Texas as the Dallas Cowboys take the field set to face the Eagles on Sunday Night Football well the Cowboys came into the league in 1960 Eagles Cowboys meeting every year since 57th season a lot of legendary quarterbacks have played in this rivalry but tonight the first meeting where each team will start a rookie quarterback I'm not surrendering trust me not with a record of 5 and 1 and the kickoff a couple of yards into the end zone and lucky Whitehead and he gets wrapped up at the 10-yard line and the Eagles who have great special teams they're able to recover the Cowboys are saying that they can't let the Cowboys get off to a fast start Dallas has outscored the opponents 37 to 10 in the first quarter but a third and 9 here and the - Elliot Elliot is able to gain yardage Africa flank wide to the right just you get the play off before the play clock expires and there's a sack back to the 16 yard line Marcus Smith this team ranking very high in almost all categories to this point the season third and 12 and the pass is underthrown the star which has to be the greatest training facility in the world for any sport no doubt and once his first play is a pass and a first down running back his Ryan Matthews and the pass goes out to the left side brought there by Josh Scott sweaty so right tackle was an issue a couple of weeks ago last week Whiteside did much better and the pass is caught outside but shy of a first down Jordan Matthews with three passes they have sprawls lined up and running back fake it to him little roll to the right whence is going to keep it but he's going to be knocked down 3 yard shy of the first down but Jones boy Cole Beasley back at the 10 yard line flag is down our first of the game cowboys may have had an extra man on the field and if the too many men on the field will see the team 5-yard penalty resulting in a first-time 39 they've yet to run the ball [Applause] and once rolls and then throw Cowboys moving around on that defensive front the toss to Scrolls and Scrolls we'll get the first down and a lot more inside the twenty third down and six and that pass is dropped maggle or that they're still in the market looking before the trade deadline Kaleb Sturgis 30-yard field goal from the 25-yard line corner blitz it's picked up going deep downfield and on the run making the catch is Dez Bryant all the way down on the Philadelphia 20-yard line welcome home dead down there started practicing a little bit this week and tough spot we will delve into that in a minute this through the middle goes Elliott to set up a first down and gold the league's leading rusher Elliott averaging 5.1 yards per carry a squirt five touchdowns this season and this night Prescott keeps him wide open touchdown beautifully designed play as Prescott rolls into the end zone and that didn't take long waiting to happen you mean they're bringing back the wide nine I might see a little bit of that the second and ten so Elliott is the I back they bring in a fullback its Keith Smith and they're gonna go play action and flare it out to the running back Elliott Frank's away goes down the sidelines boom goes to the 40-yard line of the Eagles so the penalty moves them back to the Philly 43-billion out of the outside gets around the corner gets by McElveen another hurdle job at the Philadelphia 20-yard line empty backfield Prescott good protection fires too high intended for Bryant cowboy career 38 yard attempt and that one is good and here come the Cowboys they blitz and it catches me refuted stories that self out come through correctamundo third down and 11 run a stucked up front and that takes care of mr. and made at the 11 yard line by Cole is everything you want a football player too big Prescott throws that's Beasley making the cash he have lined up in the backfield Prescott from the 22 give it the Elliot Elliot has a lot of room Elliot out patch the 40 in the Eagle territory Elliot with a flag on the play all the way back up field at the 22 yard line in fact there are two flags took away a great play for the Cowboys 60 yard game goes away sting and pass is caught up with the 26 yard line coming to the line creeping up indicating blitz to the right he goes throws and reaching and making pressured again and he as he gets away eighties better go big does not know it's incomplete yeah on the ground yep fresh got forcing him out of the pocket he likes it out there second down and 10 now he's gonna go downfield here adjusting and making the catches Dez Bryant for the touchdown we threw that one outside Debbie you know I love watching young players correct their own mistakes he missed inside with the first one didn't miss inside with that one looked like he was ready to blitz and this is Scrolls and Scrolls is able to knife his way for a gain of second and two from the 33 and it's a low throw and that's going to be a loss they would have been better served with an incomplete vast Matthews [Applause] three-man rush bass to the outside juggled and knocked away incomplete he goes Lee comes in that Anthony Brown has played a lot of football he was the slot for standard the last four games once looks that way hits man four-man rush look keeps it alive gets buried from behind and it was only could do to hold on to the football that's Orlando Scandrick second and ten there's Bryant bottom of the screen look at fresh guys gonna get sacked back of the 15 by Conner Barwon those of you who were watching the Cubs and the Indians Carson Wentz tonight almost everything he's thrown has been short good accurate but underneath Prescott meanwhile started out real slowly got hotter Elliott police leading rushers 17 rushing yards but on 17 attempts brawls has been a very key factor tonight and Dez Bryant able to haul that one in Philadelphia Sullivan he and his tale comes out of the game in this situation second down and six in the 29 and [Applause] they can Eliot Prescott hanging in there is caught easily through the 38-yard line Jason Witten came down to help second son gets it away that's caught Beasley again lucky white had to come in and walk sometimes as well there were none one so it's only Romo on the sidelines into Elliot and he is not going to get it so the league's leading rusher despite bringing in the full-back for leverage is stopped short for the 28 [Applause] they push you to a first down four-and-a-half into overtime through the middle for a first out of the 14 bring Witten in as the extra protector [Applause] we'll take the ball very close to a first down first and goal from the floor here and to no avail that is [Applause] in the backfield Prescott got knocked down Rallos wide open Jason waiting to win the game friendly fire got the Philadelphia and Jason Witten [Music] not much of a factor tonight clouds going to pick off Jenkins on the back handle right here then there goes jason witten for the game winner and the dallas cowboys have won six in a row and have a two-game lead in the NFC

JG going for it on that 4th in OT and not going for the 4th against Houston in 18 made me really huff at this video.

I live in Joplin, MO, but I moved from Denver, CO. In June of 2016 I purchased 4 tickets to this game. One for me, two buddies of mine, and my brother. They flew together from Denver to Dallas, I drove down to DFW and picked them up. We spent the weekend in Dallas and Arlington.

This was my first NFL game, I passed over several Broncos games because I wanted my first game to be a Cowboys game. When we bought the tickets originally, we were so excited to see Tony Romo throttle the Eagles. Romo, as we all know, for hurt in the preseason, but the early signs pointed to a return in 4-6 weeks. Well, it then turned into after the Cowboys bye, which was set to be the Eagles on Sunday night.

My friends and I grew to love Dak, but Romo was still our boy. But we made shirts that said, “Homo For Romo” on one side and “Dak’s Out For Prescott” on the other (still have the shirt!).

Outside of the night I became a Christian and my wedding night, this night was the best night of my life. We had great seats, we were around people of all different races and ages, all Cowboys fans. It was loud in Jerry World. We were down late, came back to send it into OT, Dak to Witten in the back of the end zone. Our section went nuts. I was hugging strangers. “Eagles suck!” chants until we got back to the car. Lost our voices.

We got Whataburger on the way back to the hotel, and as soon as we got back to the hotel we rewatched the game on my friend’s laptop.

Man, what a night.

I was in AT&T Stadium for this game. Gosh, what a great fuckin experience it was.
