let's take a look at the road Caster Pro 2 screen and what everything is so that you get familiar with how to use it and configure the system itself so at the top left corner you'll see that Unity symbol if you recall in the previous video you had the option of choosing an icon specific to that show so if you chose the soccer ball it will show the soccer ball if you chose the unity symbol like I did it shows the unity symbol if you want to change the show that you are using you go ahead and click on that and it will allow you to edit the actual default show name that's right there right now you can change the image here by clicking on that or you can import new shows that might have been saved on other SD cards export the current show and then also create a new show as well now the other function that this allows you to do is to access any of the other recordings that you may have used so I'm just going to go back out to the main screen here and on the road Caster Pro 2 you'll see here is a big record button when you have a an SD card installed or a Micro SD card installed on the back of the road Caster Pro 2. you'll now have the ability to record your audio directly to the unit itself so in fact you don't even need to have this road Caster connected to any computer system to do anything you can if you're just doing podcasts you can take this unit with you your microphones and your headsets with you and the power cords and simply record directly to the unit by using this record button so to access those recordings you would just go to here and you would click on the recordings and that's where all of the previous recordings that are saved on that SD card that's where they will be so let's go back to the home by clicking on the top right section here now the next area you can see is the time and the date personally as I said I do like to see it because you know I just quickly look over to my left and I can see the date and the time instead of looking on the wall Dollar on the computer system itself if you happen to click that it doesn't really do anything so if you want to change the date and the time you're going to have to go in here and click on the Cog wheel you're going to have to go over to system and date and time here and that's where you can adjust the information if you needed to change it the next little block over here you can see it looks like a little SD card a Micro SD card and it says 12 plus hours so that means I have over 12 hours of recording capacity on the micro SD card that's installed now you'll notice that as you continue to record audios and if you're not deleting from that SD card it will go down gradually and it'll tell you and give you that little bit of a warning to say Hey you better watch out you're going to run out of space so to manage the micro SD card that's installed you can actually click on that little micro SD card icon on your screen and here you can see you can go ahead and erase the actual SD card itself you can eject it so this is typically how you want to remove the SD card from the device always go to this box go to this and click on eject and then take out the micro SD card don't just willy-nilly take it out just in case right you don't want to corrupt your card itself now this other button here says it's transfer mode so what's really nice about the road Caster Pro 2 is you don't actually have to take out the micro SD card out of the device itself and then put it into your computer system you don't have to do any of that all you now have to do is click on the transfer mode button and your computer system will now recognize it as a unit or a device a drive that you can go ahead navigate through copy the files over to your computer system and then when you're finished you click end transfer mode and then all of a sudden it just goes back to the normal Road Caster Pro 2. and it's amazingly fast like rode has done an amazing job with regards to utilizing the fastest type of USB connections and your podcast files and all that stuff transfer extremely quickly it's it's it's amazing so the next icon here is a little circle it's green and it has a little speaker inside of it essentially your road Caster Pro 2 you can connect a set of speaker monitors to it it's another line output and you can configure what is actually being sent is it post fader or pre-fader are there any effects or No Effects so if you're using like let's say monitor Shelf book speakers bookshelf speakers that you normally would connect to your computer system you can go ahead and connect those speakers to the two outputs on the back of the road caster and that's called L and R left and right you can also with the right cable output the audio from those two connectors out to like something like an A10 mini pro which is what I'm using here or you can set it up to go into another mixer if you have a series of different types of mixers that you're using for different types of events so to configure that speaker itself you would go essentially into the Cog or the settings you go to outputs and then and over to your monitor speakers so this setting here is going to help you depending upon what you're doing and how you configured your computer system and the output of your audio because most of the time when you're using things like mixers especially for podcasts you actually don't want to be listening to things on speakers because they can interfere and the audio can bleed back into your microphone so by default what road has done is they Auto mute those speaker outputs so when any of these sliders here are above zero right like I'm just going to move these down to zero right now but once you move it above zero it will automatically mute that output so you'll see here I've got everything at zero and if you look really really closely you can see that the speaker has nothing through it but once I now move the slider up you'll now notice inside here that the speaker has a little red slash because what it's done is it is is actually muted the speakers so they do not interfere in your recording itself so the other options for your speaker outputs is you can have Auto monitor Bluetooth output Auto mute Bluetooth output so again you don't want that Bluetooth to interfere with anything else and then fix output levels the fixed output level essentially turns this into a general line output which means that the the the the the Audio Level that's coming out of those two channels is a very minimal level that can be Amplified by another device so for example I've got an atem mini here and I do not need Amplified audio going into it so I'm going to enable this option here and I'm going to leave for myself my purpose is I'm going to leave all three of these enabled because I don't want anything to interfere coming back into this microphone so for the A10 mini which needs a line input I'm going to have what I'm going to enable this fixed output level so again so it's a a it's a lower level that's not going to sound distorted as it goes into the other devices and so now that you can see that I've got the fixed line output it actually doesn't matter because it knows that I'm not really connecting any speakers to it so that speaker icon is now gone okay the next option here that you see on your screen is the actual line levels so this is your master output you can see that the my the lines are going up and down now I'm not really using that microphone at the moment but when I am using the microphone you'll see that that output actually matches what's coming up through channel one but if I had other different channels that were running sound effects you'll see that that top meter moving accordingly so this is my master level output and right now I it's a little bit on the loud side so I probably will want to decrease this it was actually past unity and this is like the comfortable area for your actual output of your audio okay now on to the next icon here the top right icon here it looks like a little USB cable is exactly what that is it's USB it basically says that USB 1 is connected to the computer system and that's all it is and then the little Cog wheel there is to get into the settings of the road Caster Pro now you can see here on the six channels here you can see the little white bar that goes up and down as I slide the actual physical sliders so as I move these up and down you can see that those little white indicators will move along so it gives me a nice visual indication of where these units are at and are they at Unity or not typically most of the time I want to keep these things at Unity so that I'm not overpowering or using too much power on any of these devices and it's not going to sound distorted again through your broadcasts so I've got six channels here and then I've got six six visual indications of where these are at and what they are for what you'll notice is this you can see here uh channel one here the bar is white you can see up here the bar is actually white but as it goes down and once it goes down to zero the bar turns into a an outlined bar that gives you the visual indication that that channel is completely zeroed out on the fader so by accident if you know if you had a little bit up you know you sometimes people don't notice this and they don't bring the slider all the way down you'll see that it has a little bit of a white indicator on it means that hey by the way there's still a little bit of audio coming in through that channel okay now in each of these six channels that you can see here these are the physical channels they're not virtual channels if you clicked on the number one here if you clicked on that this will take you to the settings for channel one now I'm just going to go back home and you can see that it's the exact same function whether I click on the screen on channel one or if I click on the actual button above Channel One it'll take you to the exact same screen and this is where you get to change the microphone type you can change the amount of gain that's included on there and you can go ahead and change some of the processing or the effects that were enabled so if you recall in the Wizard I had chosen the podcast default and so with the podcast default what that does is it sets the depth the spark Circle the punch and that processing specific to allow my voice to sound more podcasty like so in this page here I can now go ahead and click on specific types of presets so remember the neutral podcast or the broadcast type of preset I can go ahead and click on that or I can go ahead into the advanced modes and I can go specifically into each of these different types of settings so if I just clicked on the first one you can see here it's the high pass filter or I can go ahead and click on the arrow and then move over to the de-esser Noise Gate let's see the compressor equalizer Exciter and panning left and right so you can actually make one microphone more left panned and the other other microphone more right panned on this one and you can turn them all on or off as needed so this is available on every microphone channel so if you have a line input it's going to be a little bit different um but generally speaking the processing uh will still be the same now the other section here on the right side these are all of the pads so these are the sound pads you so you can see one two three four five six seven eight and they match here to the eight different pad or buttons on that right side so if you click on those pads it allows you to reconfigure what that specific pad is doing and you'll uh you know so I also showed you that you've got the page buttons on the bottom here so if I go ahead and click the page button you can see here that it's actually changing and so let's zoom in here so it's going from different types of sound effects effects and it's moving now over to the actual voice effects so these are the default ones that come with the road Caster Pro 2. you can go ahead and change them even if but if I go to the next page you'll notice that it's actually empty so if you clicked on any one of these little buttons here you can now change what that specific pad does so you can see here uh this one says it's a music bed I can change the color of the icon itself I can rename it I can edit or I can clear what's on that so if I clicked on edit now I can say you know there's actual music playing you don't actually hear it because I'm not routing the audio through them by computer system but I can go ahead and make adjustments to the audio by either cutting the actual audio itself or um you know basically fading it in or out I can go ahead and record a new a new audio if I want directly to that channel a lot of different cool features and these are a little bit some of the more advanced ones that we'll get into in another video now let's dive a little bit deeper into the settings themselves so you can see what's happening here so if you remember just a couple seconds ago the fader options so here I can reroute and change some of the faders so if I didn't want USB to be the second Channel like if I wanted to move it from here and move it to the third Channel I can actually just go ahead and kind of Click drag it and move it over and move it back into the third channel so now all of a sudden you'll see here like Bluetooth is now on channel three and the the colors actually change themselves see this is kind of pinkish oranges and then blue but if I go ahead and move this back over here you'll see every time I move it like if I turn it off this light goes off but if I move Bluetooth back it's blue so there's a little cool things that you can do if you want to actually go ahead and you know change the actual colors themselves so let's just go back into settings let's go to faders and click on the actual Channel here's where you can change the color in the bottom right corner you can switch specifically to different outputs you know one two three or four from the back of the unit itself or you can go ahead and choose you know any of the virtual inputs or just completely disable it and then go back to the settings so you can do that with any of the options that are here okay so the next setting under the configuration here are the outputs so here is where you configure anything that the road Caster Pro 2 is sending out whether it's a physical device or a computer device on the USB line so the headphones by default it selects the nth 100 headphones luckily I actually have them but if you don't have those you can go ahead and choose High sensitivity headphones or low sensitivity headphones whatever you choose you'll notice that the sound quality adjusts and changes a little bit so go ahead and play with those as needed now the second section here is Monitor we've already gone through that option the third option is routing now routing is very very cool in the road Caster Pro 2. you now have the ability to change what channels you know so we've got six physical channels and I can have additional three virtual channels you can you can select which channels go through which types of outputs so if you only wanted certain sounds or certain people's microphones to go through you know USB chat 1 or USB main one then you can go ahead and select those different options here so in the middle section here you can see it's USB one this is called USB one main it's the main mix which basically means everything that's in there even if I'm routing my computer system audio through to the broadcaster Pro 2 main Channel then that means the broadcaster Pro 2 is going to pick up that information or I can go ahead and select mix minus which means that whatever computer software audio is coming through to USB main 1 that audio will not go back to the actual computer system so you would use this in instances of like if you're using this for Zoom you want to use mix minus mode and then custom here basically sell says that you can sit you can choose one channel or all six channels or minus itself so mix minus re is basically equivalent to this this is what makes minuses but you could also say I don't want any sound effects right to go through to this channel as well so you can you know make those differences and changes here if you click on the right arrow then this is now you can see the little chat bubble opened so this is called the USB chat and by default mix minus is enabled on that and then USB 2 if you have the second USB connection connected to the same computer system or to another computer system it's on mix minus so now the next item under here under outputs is the listen option so listen option basically means in the actual headphones cells right you're on port number one what are you listening to are you listening to things that are after the fader so after the actual volume changes that from the faders here um or are you listening to things in pre-fader mode so pre-fader mode means that no matter what everything that people are saying through the microphones can be heard on the headphones right even if you've got the volume all the way down you know on the microphone channels themselves but if you're in monitoring mode and you want to hear exactly what is being recorded and what is being transmitted then you're going to hit this first option it's called after fader listen the next option here is called multi-track multi-track essentially allows you to change uh similar to the listen option but it allows you to change what is being recorded to the system to the SD card or through to USB if you have like a software Daw that records multiple tracks over USB so on the recording side uh right now multi-track recording is disabled by default but I can go ahead and click on pre-fader and then include the option to bypass any processing which means that those voice effects and all that stuff is not being recorded it's basically the raw audio that's coming from your microphones or your line input devices it allows you to do all of the editing afterwards when you bring each of those tracks into your software system so this is pre-fader so again anything you know when you're when your faders are down that information is still being sent and recorded on each of the individual tracks from the road Caster Pro then your third option here is post fader so this again if you have your fader all the way down to zero that means that channel will be down to zero in that recording and so that may or may not be what you want typically most people who are doing isolated audio recording where they're recording each and every single of those channels you don't want post fader simply because you can't edit it afterwards you can't make something from nothing if you accidentally left that channel to zero so most people will use pre-fader option in this case and enable bypass processing which again means it's raw audio coming from those microphones or those instruments and being recorded directly to SD card now the USB option is the exact same thing so if you enable sorry if it's USB is off then what that means is your computer system won't recognize the multiple channels that are coming from the road Caster Pro 2 and it's very specific software that sees that so things like audacity or Adobe Audition are too popular softwares that can see the multiple tracks from the road Caster Pro 2. so but if you are that type of person who wants to record those multiple channels on your computer system rather than just the SD card then you'll go ahead and again select pre-fader option here now since I have not enabled it it's actually saying okay by the way when you do this stuff is going to be interrupted so if I just go ahead and say apply and so now with this section here pre-fader and then bypass processing now that raw audio from the microphones and the instruments that are connected into the system is going directly into multiple channels in my software on the computer system and that basically means that I can edit that audio afterwards so I can cut I can mute you know if I had two people on microphones and one person went and coughed in the microphone I can actually delete that out in the software and the final product will not have that cough at all so these are some really really cool features and functions of using these types of units and so this last option here is processing so this is the master processing now there are two options that you will find under here something called the master compeller or compressor and then the option here is called the output delay let's go back to the master compeller the master compeller essentially is an overall uh setting that affects the actual full output so it's not each individual channel that you were able to affect this is now the final broadcast and so it's kind of like um a universal setting on your entire output so you can go ahead and change threshold release attack and gain essentially this means um different Advanced features where uh what are you how is it going to affect and change that audio output for the most part most people do not need to touch this one so typically speaking I don't even touch it so I'm just going to leave it as is okay so the second option here is output delay this essentially uh delays that audio from being transferred to the recording or even to the computer system for like live streaming applications it will delay that by milliseconds so you can actually reduce that up to two full seconds um but you know you probably wouldn't need that kind of a massive delay it might only be milliseconds so they're in 100 millisecond increments plus or minus on this setting here all right so now we're going back to the main configuration page this is the Smart Pad section again you already saw this it allows me to change um the the voice effects or I can add sound effects to the system here and that's going to be another video because this is going to be diving really deep into that the next option here is the delay sorry display option you can change the brightness of the display itself you can have a dim after a certain amount of period of time personally I don't like it to dim because I always want to see at a glance without touching anything what is what and what is set so you can change the display on the brightness on the display but also the buttons themselves and what you're going to do is you're going to select that option and then use the rotary encoder to change the brightness levels of the unit itself now let's go back one this next one is metering so the default metering essentially shows you the the lines that were going up and down when the audio comes in but you can go into a broadcast metering mode which is preferably where I like it so I'm going to select this option and what this does is it adds some additional lines to the actual screen itself so these now these markers here and the unity level is gone you don't see that little Unity marker there but beside them our really really faint numbers you probably can't see it if you you might want to dive I've been really close looking here but you can see some of the decimal or the gain numbers that are in here and I like to see that personally because I like to have my audio reach certain levels as you're going through here so let's go back to display haptics so this touch screen actually has feedback physical feedback kind of like a smartphone so you can go ahead and just have haptic feedback on uh when when you hold your finger down on the screen you can have zero feedback or you can actually have every time that you tick you tap on something on the screen it goes Zip Zip you know so you can you can do something like that personally I just leave it when I'm holding my finger down now the record button here remember this is the record button that's on the side of your road Caster Pro you can enable it so that when you hit record and you hit it again it'll pause the recording or the other option here is you can just press it to stop the recording most people will probably use it to pause the recording I think because it's like if you want to go take a break or you wanted to you know you started coughing and you just didn't want to end the recording itself you just pause it right now if you have this enabled option here for you to actually stop the recording you're going to hold down on the record button and then that will stop the recording itself otherwise if you just want to keep hitting stop and start then you can just choose the second option here I like the first one personally and that's all the settings on the actual screen itself okay for display now the next one is show so this was the exact same option where you clicked on the top left corner of the home screen where you saw my Unity symbol or the icon of your show this is the same way to get through there and the last one is system now system you probably only ever need to get through this once or if you move locations you may have to go ahead and change the network option so you can see that I'm connected by ethernet but you have the option to switch over to Wi-Fi and on the advanced box here this will tell you your IP addresses on your network um so you can go ahead and do that here's where you can configure your Bluetooth options so by default I don't have any connections on Bluetooth that I've saved so you can go here now if I went onto my phone it'll say Road Caster Pro 2 is available you synchronize and you pair it up and then it'll show up there midi this is for more advanced users people who are connecting different types of uh devices to the road Caster Pro 2 and the computer system you can control so you can actually make these smart pads control other devices through midi control uh date and time we already talked about language changing if you wanted to change it over there and this information screen is the last button now this information screen allows you to do a few things one is it allows you to check for updates for firmware Now by default when you turn on your road Caster Pro 2 it's going to check for new firmware and if there is a new firmware available it'll say new firmware available do you want to download it and install it you can do that or you can kind of force force check it by clicking on that middle button here is the device information so this is the current firmware that's installed on the unit itself and then also the serial number of your device now if you want to go again erase your unit to factory use that button here if you really love to read different types of documents you can go through here and then the last one is the analytics page again which allows you to enable analytics to be sent to the rode parent company that helps them essentially improve their products so usage statistics and resource statistics are available here as well for those individuals who want to read the privacy policy you can go in through there did you know that you could have had access to this entire Road Caster Pro 2 Series first like a month ago but you missed out because you weren't on my streaming platform called nebula and it's not just me it is all my Creator friends we are putting an amazing amount of content on nebula let me show you you can see all the latest videos from all the creators on this platform hey look epos box and you get original content that isn't even uploaded to YouTube from your favorite creators you've got nebula first extended versions maybe bloopers or extra additional information that you don't get on YouTube nebula first things that are exclusive Early Access on this platform there's so much great stuff here and here's the cool thing usually nebula is 50 but with my exclusive link it actually goes down to 333 a month for you so you can find that link in the description and that's it that's that's how you navigate the screen on your broadcaster Pro 2 so you can go ahead and change all the different settings of the different items that are available now you'll notice that this was a long video and the reason why is because the road Caster Pro 2 is extremely powerful and allows you to do a lot of things it allows individuals who are very new to audio and different types of mixer units to be able to use it at a very basic simple level and then it moves all the way into the advanced levels for those people who are really you know huge audio files and they have multi-track recordings and sessions because they've got all these devices connected to the road Caster Pro too so it serves both types of individuals both spectrums and that's why this tutorial kind of took a long time but hopefully you've figured it out all out and remember there's no way to really mess this thing up if you've really really screwed the whole thing up go ahead and reset the device as you saw in the instructions
