Merlin people love their blue crap when you go down to Florida you gotta try the stone crap if you are ever in Alaska the crap is king but here in the Bay Area and basically anywhere on the Pacific west coast they swear by the Dungeness and there are a ton of places where you can find the Dungeness crab in the Bay Area cooked in a multitude of ways probably the most popular is simply steamed with butter but come on I feel like that's kind of boring and that's why I'm in the Outer Sunset District of San Francisco because my friends tell me if you are ever in San Francisco if you ever want a Dungeness crab you've got to have the classic roast crab with garlic noodles and apparently this place here ppq Dungeness crab they do it really well let's go check it out I got to give a shout to my friend Lee who recommended this place to me and it's supposed to be Vietnamese cuisine but I think everyone here is Chinese so I'm gonna go for the dinner for two and here you get Imperial rolls cabbage salad with chicken and roasted crab house garlic noodles deep fried banana with ice cream here the different ways to make the crab this is the most popular roasted crab and it's basically roasted with a lot of garlic and butter this is also a really popular a peppercorn crash so we're gonna go for that for now and we'll see I don't know why but I love going to restaurants that give you a bit it's kind of like a like an unspoken permission to just go wild with the food by the way guys strictly dumpling will start coming out with our own bibs because I noticed that hot pop places at Szechuan restaurant it gets really messy so we're gonna have our own brand advance how exciting is that whatever I put this on I feel like I can get in there get rough get messy and nothing's gonna happen to me this is probably how Superman feels where maybe Aquaman these are the Imperial rolls should I bow down to them or something inside it's pork and vegetables outside it's very light layer of skin it's dip that in some sauce wow that's quote Pleasant the truce you're done I expected I think the skin is made out of rice really really light you know that skin is uber thin I do chase the vegetables more than I chase the pork but still delicious this is the chicken salad if you ever see chicken salad on the menu at a Chinese restaurant with a Asian restaurant it never really is what you think it is when you think of chicken salad it's gonna be salad with chicken guys check out how beautiful this crab is it's like steering it at a beautiful model from every angle it's so perfect and sitting on the bottom of the crowd all that garlicky butter goodness man I am so excited for these noodles holy powders so I could smell the garlic before this needle came out to me Dracula could definitely not eat this that's so yummy it's so bad for you though how you taste is garlic and butter I'm covering soaking into these noodles hey that's not a bad thing for me I love that so let's go from a little bowl of butter noodles to a huge plate of basically a butter garlic covered crap let's lift this it's shy so let's hold this is the tamale this is the organs of the crabby you can't eat all this stuff simply I don't like eating all this but you know what let's give a try that is really organized a little bitter for the more YouTube it's got a little livery flavor especially quite good you know why that's so good you can taste a lot of fat most of the fats from the crab that's in that part that I just put in my mouth and now let's dig into one of these legs and let's just soak that in garlic butter that's a legendary buy it the meat is so succulent and tender got that beautiful natural sweetness now I got to get a little surgical with this thing these are my tools let's get to work don't be afraid to get messy guys put your hands in there get yourself dirty look at that oh this came right out tip dad in garlic butter this is gonna be a miraculous bite we can absolutely taste how fresh and the bouncing does crabmeat is well this is a wonderful plate of crustacean right here and claws my favorite we gonna stink it's already pre crap Oh spritz apart little piece of meat can't waste that I'm gonna get that out claw is where it's at like amazing buttery crab lollipop sorry guys this kind of messy well like I said you're allowed to get messy you got the pit box we can get to the knuckle there's some good meat in that knuckle don't let that deter you I know it's hard but get every single bite into this crab I'm telling you guys the knuckle meat is the sweetest you know why because you work the hardest for it guys I just thought of something I don't know if others have done this before I'm sure they have but I started this what what if I just you know take this noodle to the source like right in the garlic butter and that is what you should do when you come here you can never have enough butter and garlic and you need to take these noodles for a swim and dunk it in there oh my goodness if I had bread right now I was just like wipe all this up guys if you come here you got to leave something at the door okay first of all your dignity because you're gonna get messy and you need to enjoy that without any judgment from anybody also you're not getting kissed tonight okay you're just not I don't care if the person you're with loves you to Earth's and you're not gonna kiss you because you're gonna smell like a vampire repellent for the next two days so you know what that's all worth it cuz all you need is the gentle soft delicious kiss of this right here so that's it crab is gone so kind of sad right now but - hello guys - crab number two with the peppercorn crap now this crab is a lot different than the roasted crab it's not saucy at all it's completely dry look at all the seasoning here it looks like little bits of chives and garlic I want to try some of this a little bit of seasoning here oh yeah that's a lot of garlic some sesame seeds hmm alright when a peppercorn in here organs this time it look much more appealing because they're just not like slimy and stuff I'm gonna push some of the seasoning in here so the organization s so overwhelming this is a lot better a lot less bitter taste more fragrant I should quite enjoy that and check out the crab is shell Wow and it is covered in peppercorn yeah I'm I like this better than a roasted crab flavor of this crab it's incredible I mean you got we've got the garlic you got the pepper the spiciness of the pepper of little numbing sesame seeds oh man this flavor profile is a lot more complex than the other one you don't want any is good is delicious but it's basically basically just butter and garlic but this it's got a lot of stuff going on here then because it's deep-fried you can actually eat some of the shells and that gives you a nice crunch let me break this baby open and I was gonna dip that and some of the seasoning I think I like this one better than the roaster crap I think I do I mean look at this guy's it's all fried you can just take a bite of this area here and if the bone was chewable just just eat it that's awesome that's so good that perfect corn flavor that works so well with the crab like I said the crab meat is really sweet so the peppercorn kind of contracts it and really gives this another dimension of flavor it can't be that it's a desert I feel like frying is the best way to do penance especially a really satisfying conclusion to this meal something cold and sweet is definitely needed after eating that much crap wow what a great meal I'm not full though I don't think you can actually get four when you're eating crap when I go to a buffet and I see crab legs I leave the crab legs usually when I'm taking a break from eating what I kind of feel bad about is that they have four or five different types of crap on the menu and I've only tried to and I'm leaving so I'm definitely gonna think about those three other types of crab also can't tell you guys a short story the first time I ever really wanted to eat Dungeness crab I was I was in college and this is when the movie boys and girls first came out the character of Freddie Prinze was playing in the girl they wins in Fisherman's Wharf and they had this delicious-looking crap now I don't think I've paid much attention to the entire movie but when that crab came out of the screen that got my full attention so the first time I came to San Francisco I went straight to Fisherman's Wharf and I got half a Dungeness crab and it was really simple steamed and they gave me some butter it just tasted okay to me but guys don't want to do what I did come here war a place like this and get a roasted crab get a peppercorn crab actually the peppercorn crab I liked a lot better so maybe get the peppercorn crap but then I really did like dipping the noodles and all that garlic butter so you know what hit him go so the same menu I had which was dinner for two was $68 68 95 if you want to just get the crab I think right now is $45 because it is in season also make sure to eat crab between I think November in July and that is Dungeness crab season and
