Roadside Pyrite near Gold Mines

[Music] here's a nice band of pirates me minor here I'm on the side of a highway in Northern Ontario outside an active Gold Mine can't go into the mine but I noticed in the ditch there's miles of tailings or waste rock and some seem pretty interesting don't think I'll find any gold but for sure there's some Pirates some crystals let's go take a look they're very clear they don't watch you up there Pate in this Rock plus a courtz vein lots of white quartz and then iron staining you what they say gold rides on an Iron Horse so it's tough to tune my eye to what I'm seeing but the gray rocks seem to have pirate on them in them and then look at here crystals there's a little vug ooh [Music] ooh look at this [Music] one by right beautiful there we are split you can see that the nicer formed crystals the real cubic shapes are inside a gap or a hole in the rock I wonder if that one's any good let's take a look sure is [Music] shiny yeah shy see the cubic shapes of the Pirates they're very small but they're plentiful so the Pirates on this one are on the ends nothing huge but I'm wondering if some might be in where the rock can [Music] split okay so we have cubic pie right up in this [Music] end but it doesn't doesn't go through the rest of the rock so it's mostly on the edges kind of crystally there's another one that tried to go crystally looking closely all this gray rock which I think is a type of shell seems to have at least some pyate in it iron pyrates so what I'd be looking for if I want to take one home is nice cubes especially if they're a bit bigger and while looking for the cubes are they gold so there's something that call by himself let's shade him see weic Go's dark that'd be pyate not gold there's another one on that rock see right there and shade it goes dark gold won't go dark gold to Stay Gold [Music] H there's a Stringer Pirates doesn't go all the way through or does it oh maybe it does that's kind of neat oh yeah it's all through that rock I want [Music] bigger here's another one that went crystally see them down in there on that vug that goes in my pocket if I can take off that black stuff it might have some undamaged crystals under it very cool to remove this black and going to use diluted muratic acid that's in water let's see what happens because the white is quartz there's no reaction to the mtic but we'll see whether or not that other Stone shouldn't soften up a bit ptic acid doesn't affect quartz but I was hoping that this other Rock in through here would be slightly affected and made softer or dissolve because you can see down in here there are little crystals I don't know how well formed they are but they're in there I think they'll remain hidden for me the acid did not affect this rock either that's the ditch far side of it and up top is the mine you can see you don't have to trespass to at least explore for Rocks Crystals in those holes it's kind of a wormy quartz well inspect it with microscope to see if there's any gold showing as well doubt it but you never know that's going to my pocket certainly try to crystally oh maybe that's the kind of Crystal that formed I'm not keeping it now this one might be really cool see it's got vugs in the quartz and crystals in the vugs I actually think there might be bugs in the bug bugs in the bugs too I'll take that maybe try to break it up in here somewhere so we only have the quartz part of this rock and uh and clean it up see what it looks like sound like a plan so I did Hammer this rock and what happened is the quartz shattered and fell fell off I don't see any crystallization I'm seeing a bit of iron but no iron [Music] Pirates it might be fun to crush this and pan it and see whether or not we can't find at least an indication of gold I've not seen any big pieces of course but if I do a panding that'll be in a separate video which I'll only make if we successfully find at least some colors in the pan so thank you so much for watching we'll do it again real soon bye for now
