three bravo bravo clear direct BBY cross BBY at 10,300 Clear arv Delta Runway 30 Z approach okay clear direct bot B across at 10,300 clear for the arv Delta approach welcome to the channel flying this Arn have approach in this awesome SR22T while in IMC and icing watch how important it is to brief the approach and properly set up the autopilot trying to catch a couple times my student got behind the autopilot it was a perfect teaching opportunity to show just because there is automation doesn't mean you can rely on it comment below if you catch the slip ups and what corrective action you would have taken is going to be 3 39 we got that it's going to be Arnav this is a GPS approach arav Delta and oh we know that our plates are not expired cuz we just updated them circling not available for cats 3 and D we class D or uh um cat D so that's good a Miss approach it's going to be a climbing left turn the 9,600 direct one key on track 277 then lipy and hold continueing the climb and hold that's that one over here that's what the plan VI we're coming over here make right turn that's our next turn we're going to make right turn the B once we go bopy right turn forther approach now so 8,100 at Vivi which B so after we go B we're 12,000 after we hit bopy in between B and Viv viz we can go down to 8,100 next inside is Rojo 6,800 Miss approach is the end of the runway at minimums at our you're hitting this at 103 you're hit that at 81 no no you hit this at whatever altitude they give us oh okay but by there once you hit poy then you can descend down to 81 and have to be at 81 by there yes or above or slightly above four above that's exactly right so then the three things I say is how low how long which way so how low is 4280 which is a th000 AGL how long are we going to be out our minimums for until the end of the runway okay so how low how long which way it's a left turn climb to 9,600 does that make sense once once we go Miss we're on a left turn climbing to 96 9600 which is what we have there good number three bravo bravo to 10,300 send and maintain 1,300 three bravo bravo altitude 1300 because that's what he told us and that's it matches that are we descending no why cuz it switched back to vertical speed nope because you didn't capture like it was right on the edge he called it so it captured 12,000 so always always always double check tell it how to what to do and how to get there always no matter what no icing on the wings sweet okay oxygen is required we can actually turn the oxygen off next checklist before landing is loaded up we're back to Flight Plan good maybe I see some icing so okay there we go see that's some icing that's just see how it thickened up there for a second yeah that's that's the start of icing but it's breaking away look at that go look at the wing go man it's breaking it away one thing to keep in mind about the serus icing system is it's a weeping Wing or a wet wi design it can be very effective system there are of course pros and cons a con is that there's a limited supply of di ice so you need to plan accordingly and a pro is if you pre-wet the wing or you turn on the system before you enter conditions it can be very efficient what iing system do you have experience with and what's your favorite let me know below there three bravo bravo clear direct BBY cross BBY at 10,300 Clear RF Delta Runway 30 Z approach okay clear direct bot B across at 10,300 clear for the arav Delta approach three bra Bravo all right I already got it I did three z z Now nav check clear your flashes and we're clear for the approach which is a thing that you should always know you're clear for the approach arm approach mode okay always now we have Glide path in there cross at that that takes nav off because it's uh because approach mode is a more sensitive nav okay because see how we're still in nav mode in GPS mode s up your heading bug things are going to start getting chaotic here so we got to be ahead of it and icing is breaking off good yep I'm a pretty big big stickler with my students about sinking their heading bug and there's a good reason why one of the basic reasons is if you mis program or get behind the autopilot as long as your heading bug is always towards the direction of where you're flying you can instantly go heading mode and save your bacon on making sure that the plane doesn't turn where you don't want it to be Glide path is armed you see how Glide path is armed yeah so this is really cool because you know this thing will have you um this will you'll just buy the vnav right which is really really so we need to push vnav when we um yeah you could I think you could um yeah actually here here's a good thing let's prep what's our next altitude uh 81 81 so put 81 in another cool feature of this autopilot and what makes the G1000 nxi is so amazing is we can go ahead and move our altitude bug even though we need to be holding our current altitude and that's because if you look in the autopilot bar the autopilot will tell you what altitude it's holding and at that point you can always swing The Heading bug to your next objective so you can always stay ahead all right Watch What Happens vth V arm so that's good arm but it's not going to do it till exactly looks like bases are we're really close to the bases look at that we're out of it but we're going to still fly the approach so we're cleared for the approach which means we're clear to turn clear for the Approach at 10,300 and we're clear to descend you're clear to the approach you're clear to descend I want you to get that in your brain it's like being cleared to land you're cleared to execute this move exactly exactly clear for the approach cleared uh to turn clear to turn for one and cleared to descend if he didn't clear for the approach technically we would have to have him still step us down so just always vertical TR yeah here we go vertical path V path is armed V path is armed top of descent is at B so we have to cross at 103 so everything you're looking here you're just making sure that the everything's doing its job exactly that you did it properly because remember you put dumb in you're going to get dumb out and I think we did Smart in and we put Smart in so we're getting smart out so V path is armed clad path is armed 10,300 where everything is good so there we go B Crossing b b path is armed and we'll watch it come in turn your heading bug to your course bth is captured here it comes now we have a 1100 foot minute percent so let's bring some power out here because we're going to start hauling ass yeah it's pretty good we're getting a little bit it's a little bumpy but this thing can take it bravo bravo contact tower contacta Tower good day three bravo bravo three bravo bravo Tower three bravo bravo is Arnav Delta uh Runway 3 Z three bravo bravo Tower rep the Airfield sight going 32 V tax golf monit ground okay here's 8,100 100 and then put it there boom put it so put in 68 68 68 left left left left and vertical speed vertical speed and shove this over like that and then Flaps in 50 Flaps in 50 bring your power back up so it doesn't cool so always when you're doing fast make sure you clean the panel V path is captured we're going to fly that back in 6,800 all right we're in a low let's do checklist let's do before coming up on the Final Approach fix this might be a little early but might as well get it done icing conditions we have the switch on and the wings clean and we are vmc so I would say if you want we could turn it off three bravo bravo has field in sight gra your ENT left L 30 and think left 5 off L 3 0 be 3 left base left base three Z three bra Bravo three bravo bravo all right okay heading bug break it off heading bug heading bug or take the autopilot off I'm just going to do no okay left base he said left base right so we're super high but let's create distance right a 5 mile final is right on the edge of the airspace that's what he said did you hear that yeah he said enter left base for a 5 Mile finy keep the power where it's at power power solid slowly transition like as we go file because we're creating distance now right does that make sense yeah so we're creating distance which means we're increasing the time that it takes us to get down to our altitude all right don't turn away don't turn away too much too fail I got it don't turn in you just fly now it's a normal but I would you can bring out a little bit of power to help you slow down we're fast so what I would do is I would I would personally put in flaps now cuz we're high right but get below 110 so level back out kind of thing there we got below 110 yep get your nose [Music] up please for don't push the nose over so much look at your nose you're like you're dive bombing here power for altitude pitch for air speed okay we're at 80 Bravo 3 head R 3ar insight and 3ar thank you expect it's if I were you I'd rather come and stabilize and just say we're going to do I'm going to we're going to do a I got I got you want to do that no you want to do the left okay okay go ahead and start kind of leveling off 500 to three bravo bravo uh we're going to do a low approach can we enter left traffic uh we're all VFR here [Music] there's three bravo bravo r for the option left traffic Runway C turbulance for the airb 320 report Midfield left down one okay left traffic 3 for clear for the option we'll report uh oh sorry not clear for the option make left traffic for 3 0 uh and we'll p m 3 are you uh would you like to cancel we cancel now my camera stops recording here shortly however this is a great lesson on being on IFR flight plan and then canceling to enter the pattern make sure that you're always stabilized and you fly the plane another important lesson in this video is always being ahead of the autopilot this is something that is very very important with the levels of automation automation can kill so you want to make sure that you are ahead of the airplane and always ahead of the autopilot anyway I hope you enjoyed the video and if you made it this far in the video make sure to give a like And subscribe for more and we'll see you in the next one [Music]
