welcome one welcome all I am Bridger and today we are jumping back in to another solo Adventure in Europa Universal it's the price of power the board game the tabletop game uh the same top Simulator game anyway something like that so whoo spearhead welcome to the chat um I need to start with 20 Duke it's here um oh cool okay spearhead's still working on this really excellent module soon it will be posted as the official module and the mo at the moment if you wanted to get the uh custom module that is being made here with a lot of scripting and extra useful things like being able to uh stick your your leaders underneath your player board then um you can head to the Discord the AGR Discord um I think you can get it linked off of the AGR website but if not maybe if you ask on the on the forums in uh Board Game Geek you might be able to get some help there as well but I've been dreading this one this one is a little bit scary so we are purple here the last remnants of the Byzantine empire about to be swallowed up we start 10 years before Constantinople Falls or roughly uh to the Ottomans being the green power here um the Byzantine Empire is a shadow of what it once was I have played this sort of scenario in the eu4 version and I did actually recreate you know the Justinian Empire I got the achievement four it was fun it took me 50 retries 50. or so uh to get past the stage where you're way too vulnerable and luck determines a huge I spent so many times reloading just watching Poland not go with Lithuania uh and so they wouldn't be large enough as an ally because you had to do there's a couple different ways to do it at one point you could completely bug out the AI in a particular way and it was just very easy to do but then they fixed that and they did some other things but the way that I was trying to do it in the video game is get an alliance with Poland who uh may have just decided to hate you randomly at the start all the AIS just pick a rival and Poland can pick you of a rival and if they pick you as a rival that's just a restart you just start over and then uh if you do manage to Ally with Poland there's an event later that lets them get a personal Union with Lithuania which makes them like twice as strong and you need that strength you need Poland to get the uh the union with Lithuania you need Poland and Hungary not hate you and then you need to get an alliance with both of them and then you need them to not get in another War by the time you're in a position to fight the Ottomans so yeah something tells me it won't be quite that bad here but I am prepared to uh do a little bit of retconning if we need to just because it would not be entertaining it might not be I wouldn't necessarily mind restarting it but it would not be fun to watch me do the beginning over and over and over again and I don't think that will Nest be strictly necessary here let's take a look at the Ottomans military targeting chart oh it's a 50 50 owner of Constantinople [Laughter] so that's a thing um I'm just curious how many military cards are in here that's one uh let's see really there's only oh two three okay there was more okay there's three military cards out of 20. and after we hit those we got a 50 50 shot of them coming after us so if they come after us too early then we're just screwed there's nothing that can be done they're way too strong in comparison if we can get allied with Hungary and or Poland and or Muscovy uh then we've got a shot we'd ideally like to get at least two of those Venice bot also might not like us I haven't actually perused the military targeting chart of venicepot it looks like venusbot will not come after us for quite some time there's nothing on here that really causes them to uh until here right oh I'm sorry owner of morya and Athena is is where they would hit us so they have to conquer Albania before they come for us and that's only a one in three six one in six chance of them to go after Albania specifically and then it's only a one in three chance of them going after morya which is uh not uh special Dwarven cave under the mountains it is this particular spot here at the tip of um the Greek peninsula there the uh oh boy yeah so we've got claims in both of these Greek lands so we could declare war on the Ottomans the instant that we're ready we also have a little bit of influence with trezabond that wouldn't be a terrible uh that would be a terrible Alliance to get I am a fan of the one Province um alliances because they only cost you you know one influence to get and they provide you with one Manpower and the if they're adjacent to your target they Pride you with one military power so if we could get a couple of as long as trezabond isn't on this list which it very well might be so let's see here go Vista there's trezoban it's a little bit further down so we want things that are adjacent to the Ottoman Empire without actually being high up on their list so trezabond is not a terrible plan asurum as well uh probably good because again we'll get that extra military power I think also uh I think this is wallachia up here is not terrible because it's adjacent to them so is this um oh those are vassals of Poland though and I don't know if vassals of Poland count when I'm calling Poland to War I don't think they do hello code the three back you're welcome uh this looks like the plot for No Country For Old Realms all right and then also Serbia is another good one to have early on um Venice has an alliance with Albania so they actually are probably going to grab Albania pretty quickly with a diplomacy role so what I need to do is get as much diplomacy power as I can and start working alliances right away I think problem is I only start with three the other thing I would have loved to do is do a a change National focus into admin power and just pop up here to um to the plus one just because the earlier you can get your stability up the better and I'm going to need every single Duke that I can possibly scrape together the good news is the scenario scenario feels bad for us they give us 20 ducats we do get to start with that so the uh the text here says it's actually 16 rounds Long or whenever somebody wins if Byzantium completes mission number 4C at the very bottom of this we established the Western Empire um then that can end the game if we have a higher tax income than each of the Bots and otherwise knows Prestige at the end of age four wins so it took us a long time to get through those three ages hopefully we'll be able to do it a little faster now the other thing to see here so I guess there's no actual Mission deck for Byzantium it's just part of this specific scenario so we'll have to check these missions off as we complete them the other piece here is that if we are able to fully defeat these Bots then we replace them with other bots so if venicebot is eliminated and they can be eliminated not just from me annexing them anytime they have a tax income of six or lower they are replaced so uh if I get them down weak enough then uh they get replaced I also gain a bunch of prestige for doing so so Venice is replaced with France to be my uh my my rival in the Italian sphere and then the ottomans are replaced with Castile bot to be my rival in the Mediterranean sphere so we'll see how that goes the mamluks are a dynamic NPR who might wind up at war with the Ottomans because I think they have a pretty good shot at attacking the mamlukes as well uh I guess karaman has to be done then Adana is that right here no Adonna actually isn't the mamluks it could be the mamluks though if they expand so yeah we'll have to figure that out any of the last pieces that we need to glean from here aside from the situation where the new Bots come in oh escalating bot power we saw that last time at the end of the round if um Byzantium has good tax income the Bots get stronger which is pretty pretty pretty briefly beefy uh and scenario specific rules if we enforce peace on the Ottomans such that we would normally Annex their Capital but we can't we actually do get the capital in order to capture adirne um if Austria is fully annexed the hre is disbanded if ottoman bot is given the choice to declare war during an event it always will no prestigious scored for uncontested control of the curia because I probably because I can't become uncontested control of the curia treat has uncontested control of the curia as is papal controller during the papal curia bot action flow chart okay Austria is the Emperor of the hre I don't know if we're supposed to use NPR Emperor rules I guess so because um there is no bot emperor in this so we start with 22 hits rather than 15 Venice starts with a plus one military power token we moved specific ideas certain trade cards were taken out all the ones that took place on the Atlantic coast and Venice controls both of the Cardinals so our early missions the ones we need to do first recover core territory so yeah no big deal just conquer all of Greece and Macedonian Thrace and perform a trade action with six or more trade power so that's another thing in the uh in the computer game the Constantinople trade node is really good and even though all you have is Constantinople it is still enough to earn you quite a bit of money all on its own like it punches above its weight but in this I don't know how often the Black Sea comes up now arguably there are two nice sea spots right here and those are both on Alexandria and the Black Sea so that means that you can be these can direct protect trade in both zones um so that is an ideal situation in the distant future when I can afford to build a bunch of light ships is I could do that I was thinking maybe I could try the the thing in the computer game where you borrowed a ton of money and built a fleet that sat in the Aegean Sea preventing the enemy from Crossing from Anatolia over to the Balkans so say that the Ottomans get in a war with karaman or Adana or what have you and their army is built over there we can start conquering stuff over here except I'm pretty sure the way that the stupid thing works is when they get a defend action they can just teleport to wherever they need to go it doesn't say move it says place so we don't get to exploit the fact that we control the Seas to prevent the bot from getting over there they'll find a way so we have to win a real actual land war with them albeit hopefully with some good Allied support which is why this poll was very good we got Superior Tactics which gives you three extra dice of your choice uh which you know if I had any Cavalry at all I just take Cavalry dice all the time because I'm not going to have any cannons early on um now it could also be used for that nice recruit where you get to uh get back three guys from the exhausted hey look I only have three guys total so yeah we're gonna take out a whole bunch of loans get a bunch of alliances and go to [ __ ] hopefully when the ottomans are looking the other way that's an important element so I'm stalling I know let's do it I'm the first player and now I have to decide what cards I'm going to take and I think I'm going to take one of each but I'm going to start with a diplomacy card because I do have an admin plus one advisor I'm not super big on making sure I get tons of admin power it just won't be super necessary during this early part of the campaign because we're going to have to have these military things I'm very glad I got at least a plus two in my first draw I really wish I could keep this plus two to use for the actual card value though winning a big fight against the Ottomans is going to be pretty hard without that this guy only adds a single die but at least we have a general it's not great but it's better than nothing so I'm going to start with a Diplo card hoping to get a dipload visor and I did it's not great so I'm going to grab a okay we got a much better leader I mean arguably much better leader he's he's got three cannons and you know Canon dice are better because they don't have a blank side but that it's only because they have a Canon instead and so if I don't have cannons this guy's kind of useless but the forced March might be valuable let's go with one more military card hoping to get a good leader ooh and that's an even better okay that's an even better advisor using any Land Battle to gain two and one oh and it lets you re-roll damn arguably that is inspired leadership is arguably better than Superior Tactics um but the fact this is three dice is still important right this is still my commander of choice uh and not this Royal marriage the Royal marriage might actually be useful diplomatically so now the last thing that I think we get to do upon setup here is we can appoint some leaders some some advisors so I really wouldn't mind appointing this guy to get an extra military power because he who has the most military power wins the game most of the time and yet it's going to cost me an extra infantry to do this guy and I actually like the inspired leadership better so we're gonna hire this guy Jonathan it's a very Byzantine name is it not uh and then even though this isn't great uh subjugate would be kind of useful I mean it wouldn't really get me that much more than the current vassal situation does so I don't think I care about a subjugate right now I think I'd rather have the extra power there and I think uh revolutionary idea is also not important so we're going to spend one two three four for uh it's not a lot but if I had to have a plus two somewhere I'm glad it's on military power and I'm glad that I've got a good leader who's gonna cost me a lot to put him forward I I also have a good backup that's only a one die but it still only cost me one so if I desperately need to have one extra military power I don't have to spend both of these to put that guy in charge the other thing to look here is uh uh no oh a pluses oh Council of Florence forever Orthodox Byzantium Gaines to prestige one stability and an alliance with any Orthodox NPR well crap I think we know what my first action is going to have to be or I could Bridge the Schism and get an alliance with the Papal States and Venice Papal States is three base tax so they would give me two Manpower and Venice is a bot which is good it means the bot would come into the war they wouldn't give me military power they would just come into the war or military Manpower um but the problem is we have to lose three Prestige and two stability and discard four influence from the map and we would switch to Catholicism and then we have to convert the area we're in like it's a very interesting option that I do not think I'm going to do so I'm definitely going to be picking forever Orthodox because you know what NPR is uh orthodox Muscovy Muscovy is orthodox and they have I believe ten one two three four five six seven eight nine ten base tax which means I would get five Manpower if I call them into the alliance now the only disadvantage is if I call them and I don't get a free military power because they're not adjacent to the Ottomans but you take what you can get uh the other alternatives are small little Orthodox Nations like uh whatever this is this Armenia and then sir sasia they're listed here somewhere yes or sasia and what's the other one the pale blue there it's got like a white goat thing oh immoretti is that one so yeah I mean if no Crimea is Muslim I was gonna say if there's something that was at least four base tacks uh that is also adjacent now Poland has moldovia here as a vassal so now I gotta reread the rules about uh joining oh I never saved a camera five huh well let's go to camera five and save all right now I gotta look up the rules for Call to Arms procedures uh here it is for each NPR Ally called to Arms added gain one Manpower if the NPR Ally is adjacent to a new enemy hmm what does that mean for their uh for their vassals does that count as them being adjacent to the enemy if their vassals are adjacent I thought that information was doubled here NPR's on distant continents active allies yeah um I'm just gonna assume it doesn't because it just says if the NPR Ally is adjacent and say NPR Ally and and NPR's vassals though during war you're supposed to treat NPR's vassal's territory as if they are their own and I think that's basically all purposes NPR's with vassals NPR's vassals will always assist their overload in Wars as if they were the NPR's own provinces so I guess when you're calling them to war uh that counts so Poland would be a very valuable Ally so they are probably one of the ones we want to court as quickly as possible unfortunately it's going to take us a while to get some influence up there and we will need to have at least three influence with them in order to uh remove that influence to get the alliance so all that having been said we've got our missions chosen we've got our cards we're going to start by taking because if the bot took this and screwed me over by forcing me to go Catholic game over game over man now that means we're gonna have to get rid of uh Jonas but he's a one two one and replacing him for a 2-1-1 oh great Oh Happy Day thank you so much for this bounty okay then so let's do this one at a time so first we gain two prestige uh yes look at this bug it started at plus 60. the Ottomans aren't that strong and then gain one stability also beautiful and an alliance with an orthodox NPR and then gain also one military power so we'll take the alliance and put it on Muscovy oh no I have to untoggle the snap to grid to make it not sit directly on top there we go all right now we've got our new leader who is actually pretty good General himself not bad the problem is I had to take that before the plague event has been resolved so he is going to you know get sick sooner rather than later but anyway actually this guy's way better as a leader uh even been the guy that I have so it is what it is uh I'm gonna need to grab some Dukes so we put this here we put this here and then we reveal what this one is border friction okay well that's going to be a problem we'll see how that goes so uh let's see what the Bots do next and just to make sure I'm going in the correct order should be Byzantium Ottomans Venice yes so we're going correctly if we go around clockwise here so I believe that's the end of my action and it is now time for the ottoman bot to take its turn for those of you it's not a bug it's a challenge yeah this is Plus 60. all right so ottoman bot has more than one left it's not under attack any map areas in the board it can Siege no it has three or more bot power left in a colonist no it's never going to do that one it's spent bot power is higher than it's what it's got left no so it's going to draw a card and pay the cost so let's let's shake a little more just just so we you know there can't be a military one on top right right okay unrest and then a focus I don't want it to focus on war but it is what it is all right so that's one you know I need to put a little grid on here for these and make it easier on myself maybe next time uh okay so an unrest action where is that gonna do uh it owns provinces with unrest no does it have two cores in play and can place one I don't think it has any play can it Place one no because all the areas it has are cord yeah there's nothing that it has that isn't cord so it can't place one so it's just going to go to the next action which in this case unfortunately is a focus action where it's focusing on war not a fan of that so I forgot to check these nine Manpower good luck we're not there yet uh have two or more Royal marriages in play and four or more uh influence in at least two of those Realms maybe we need to grab another Royal marriage card at some point build four or more light ships during a single action have two stability or higher that's actually possible if we just uh hold on to our admin power here until next turn we might be able to do that so we'll we'll hope in that direction in the meantime this is I believe complete and because we use it for the focus it is being taken out of the running for the rest of the round so that is uh ottoman bot we got lucky let's go to venicebot who is in a similar situation as oh come on you pulled the same card I know I shuffled all these it also shuffles automatically they both pulled the same card so they're both going to focus on the military uh Milestone or if they happen to pull an idea they're both going to get military Milestones which is going to make them stronger ah than yesterday anyway so venice's situation here is that you know they've got an alliance with Albania and they've got their merchant here in the Adriatic yeah I must have unshuffled the ottoman deck it's back in order now uh so they are also in a situation where they cannot place any cores then a spot so instead they are gonna pursue the uh the same Warfare and it's back around to me so I've got one Alliance I need to try to get another one Poland or Hungary will both be ideal Hungary is probably an easier one to get because I already have one cube in the area with a Hungarian core so I'm gonna try to put more cubes here and I probably need to not spend too much diplomatic power on this so I'm gonna spend one and then I'm gonna spend one two three four five six to get two more and then consider if we want to spend more beyond that so now we have four in this region that's the most that we oh you know what we can only place two in the region uh so we can place it in Hungarian plane or Transylvania is actually better because it gets us closer to Poland so we are able to place here because we started with one influence here in Albania if we were placing new influence in Albania we would not be able to place up here so let's think right now I could get an alliance with Serbia for one and Hungary would require an alliance of I would need at least three I believe how much how much base tax we talk in here pest is a small one so one two three four five six seven eight nine ten I'm pretty sure diplomacy requires half but no more than three okay oh that's not okay hang on I remember now we don't need to remove it to get the alliance that's if we're trying to subjugate them we'll lose an alliance with a dnpr oh yeah that's true oh Hungary well you got to be a dnpr why can't you be like Poland they're cool all right that having been said instead of those two going there we could consider you know what moldovia is adjacent to Constantinople by boat so I believe we're allowed to place there when we place influence uh areas adjacent to your towns uh vassals alliances oh alliances interesting uh Royal marriages uh influence that were there at the start of the turn area contain a Max of five none on distant continents okay so I didn't no oh that's not Poland actually that's not Poland at all crap um and what is all this oh that's Lithuania that's right that's Lithuania so other possible options for these two where else do we have influence we have one over here so I think we oh we have actually all over the place so we put down two so far right we added one here we added one here and now I think we can add one somewhere else and get a bunch of small alliances rather than as was pointed out an influence with Hungary that is going to disappear and all my effort is going to go to waste but I think no I think we put this in modovia and then the next turn we can put two influence up in levolve and we can get Poland on our side which is not a dnpr so it doesn't expire at the end that's a consideration I don't know why there's one in krita is this its own area yeah I guess it's the Aegean archipelago so Rhodes is also a potential Alliance we could potentially steal from Venice I don't think we should but we could the problem with like getting treza Bond and stuff well I guess it's not a problem if they go after trezabond instead of me um because it happens to be closer who knows all right well that's all we're going to do here we're going to leave the option to go after Poland in the future and uh that's my that's my action so now we're going over here thank you hello navel all right that cost him two so now we gotta do the naval chart any hostile C Zone A J you know this is not a great I think we need to zoom it now I can read it a little better let's save that as three perfect no that's camera four ah crap now it's saved as camera four what was camera three oh camera three was the map so let's go ahead and save it here Bingo now back to here so any hostile C zones adjacent to bots ports or ships no definitely no hostile C zones any c zones with Bots ships without bot ships or adjacent Bots Port yes the Black Sea does not have an ottoman ship and I guess this is technically in the Aegean Sea right this ship is in the Aegean because the sea zone border is over here so then the other one would be the Eastern Med those are the two that don't have the Bots ships does it have five or more oh yes place a ship in such a Zone prefer Zone adjacent the most trade nodes than alphabetical so most trade nodes would be the Eastern Med because it's adjacent to both of these so they get one in the Eastern mid along with Venice oh man I hope Venice attacks the Ottomans I don't know if they're gonna I don't think they have a thing like that though uh I don't think they're on each other's charts right away for quite some time anyway I can't hope for that Let's uh follow up so has a ship adjacent Pirates no draw trade card all Bots that are eligible to trade in any node listed on the card will trade in the top most node that they qualify for uh Bots gained three if it doesn't know two if not uh and they will get reduced for each pirate how could they be reduced for each oh because they might not be adjacent to it that's right uh and then human player can collect trade income from any eligible note on the card where they have a merchant resolving bot gets two two Prestige per human player who collects okay let's draw a card take a look through the Adriatic so the Bots all Bots are eligible to trade in any node listed so they'll they're both eligible to trade in the Adriatic because they have a ship adjacent to it uh and therefore the ottoman Merchant can move there and they both gain two bot power not great not a great start I was hoping to choke the ottoman out of Bot power but it is what it is I however cannot trade on the Adriatic nor can I trade in Kiev or Aleppo although I technically could trade on the Black Sea maybe any eligible note in this card do they have a merchant resolving bot gains two prestige I mean I'll definitely give them a little Prestige if it gives me a ton of money I definitely don't have any of those um on the Black Sea however I have two trade power the problem is if I trade this way does my Merchant no passive trade never does that so this would just give me Fort Duke it's if I give some of the money some of the prestige to the Ottomans and I'm gonna do that we got trade some wool here hello tingle pass is the perfect starter Town name for any player to start in fair enough all right now it's on to Venice venicebot what are you gonna do here actually I have to double check uh after that move Merchant Bots that gained bot power to the top node yes has placed a ship yes enter okay oops I didn't mean to click on top of that we'll Shuffle that um I meant to do this so that I was centered convert or focus on politics oh that's going to finish the um that's annoying well it's better than them getting an idea probably all right convert is I think going to result in nothing happening because there's no areas with religious dissent in Venice uh I could be wrong but let's see actually there are krita is orthodox and where else might Venice Del matia's Catholic the rest of Venice is Catholic so Crete uh the Aegean archipelago rather is an area that is currently in religious descent is Catholic and all its areas are Protestant or vice versa no all provinces in a dissenting area owned by the bot or Realms with the same state religion um yeah I think Rhodes is Catholic and the other two areas here are owned by the ba let's double check that the knights are cap I really have to double check if the knights are Catholic yeah they're definitely Catholic right yeah they're Catholic the cat like so I believe that means they are going to get to convert the area and score two Prestige for doing it fine fine everybody's pile onto the two Prestige spot it's fine we didn't have plans for anything else uh and then we get to find the Catholic and drop that right in there all right and I believe that is the end turn so it's back to me again I think I need to trade as well get some money going here because I feel like I'm gonna need a bunch of mercenaries uh no let's change National Focus and we'll go ahead and get some Diplo power because we're gonna need to do these alliances uh boy we don't have a lot do we maybe that makes me rethink wanting to put this in madovia like we could get uh Serbia for one because it's got to be half their power right um and then we could get treza bond for one but it feels so weak because it takes so many actions just to get these very weak alliances and yet I'm gonna need every Alliance I can get So to that effect we're gonna pull an audible here and yeah because this isn't going to count and I don't have the well I could spend some ducats to put some stuff up there with one more and then I could get one more Alliance boy I I feel like I've got to go for Poland if I don't go for Poland uh then I'll only have the plus five from this and then I could do plus one plus one plus one and while I'd love that uh I just don't think I think it would take too long I really want to be efficient here if I can pass in this first turn before the Ottomans try to do any War stuff they won't be able to declare war on me and they'll just keep flipping their cards and maybe I get lucky so doing a little bit and then passing is probably the right call so that is my influence next turn I'll make an alliance with Poland and then maybe I'll pass the alliance with Poland will cost all three of my Diplo power I'll save my Min power I'll save my military power I'll pass to get some free ducats then Ottomans can't declare war on me and will be in better shape okay let's see what the Ottomans draw next convert and focus War oh can they convert I would really hope for they convert um they can no they can't they don't own everything in this province they don't own everything in this province they don't need to convert here they don't own everything in this province because I think trezabond definitely is orthodox and erzurem I don't know what the heck that ursurum area is what what flag is that oh is not uh but trespond is the only holdout I believe yes they are they are Orthodox right there so I don't think it's going to be able to convert which I think means it's go oh you know what I think I forgot to do oh we determined that they couldn't do a focus because they actually could convert but these guys are going to finish their focus so one bot power oops is going into here and then it's going to be going over to here and then it goes away and that gets them the plus five plus five Prestige for completing a milestone so it is not bad pass is the perfect starter so what are you talking about the Knights of yeah the Knights of roads are Catholic oh you're saying I see I didn't realize that was in there but they are Catholic so yes that is allowed to to flop to to flip it from oh interesting because the knights are Catholic and not Orthodox I didn't actually look yes they are Catholic and not Orthodox so that's why that is allowed okay but the um Ottomans don't own all of the territory in the places where they would try to convert so we get here and it says all province is owned by bot or Realms the same state religion that goes there that's why we did that with the ottoman so now we're on to the venetians a diplomacy and a flip a diplomacy card and they pay to Bok Tower and then we check their diplomacy action so do they have an alliance and or Royal marriage on any NPR adjacent to the bot they have an alliance down here they have an alliance here but I don't see a royal marriage and in those places they do not have enough influence to Annex so I think they're going to play some influence here so Alliance on any NPR adjacent to the bot yes has doubled the tax income of that NPR yes has influenced equal to or greater than the NPR's tax income plus opponents no select such NPR with highest tax income and then add to influence there so who's got higher tax income roads or Albania well they're basically the same so we'll probably it says prefer adjacent bot I assume it's going to want to prefer closer to bot probably so we'll say Albania um gulp they'll do the knights next I think uh so then is an alliance possible now and I think the answer is yes so they get to place an alliance and one more influence in the area although the they can't place any more influence they're maxed out that's the wrong Alliance you they don't they're not allowed to have that one out actually oh they can only have so many alliances out but yeah if they don't have a cabinet I don't think they can use that I'm not sure how that works actually wait a minute I went down the wrong track they already have an alliance here what am I looking at Alliance possible no can end to Royal marriage that's where we should be at a three place a real marriage in the target's capital congratulations you two and again it's the wrong wrong marriage I don't know how many Bots are limited to I'm gonna have to double check that that in first put these in and now we pull them out in the right order I think so Albania now has an alliance and a royal marriage with the uh with the venetians and it's back to me and I'm gonna get that alliance with Poland so I spend three I'll make sure I do this right I wouldn't mind getting a royal marriage you know what I get a real marriage first actually with Poland which might increase our you know connection with them wasn't there an alliance opened with Serbia uh it says Alliance on any NPR adjacent to bot yes has double tax yes NPR select oh any free space in targets areas Alliance possible yeah I guess I always assumed that was referring to the Target that we've done up at the top here but I think you're right Target is at peace and Ally of the target I guess it could do an alliance with Serbia instead of the royal marriage that's a interesting question and an annoying one because I I wanted that Alliance um but I think you might be right the way that it typically seems to work so they got an alliance with Serbia and I can't get rid of that without uh something else all right we'll go we'll go with this interpretation I think I think you're probably right there Alliance possible in targets areas now you know I think this is specifically referring to this target target select such NPR with highest tax income and again we're talking about the thing they already have an alliance on so I think they try to get a royal marriage with the target um because they already have an alliance yeah Hungary is technically possible okay so I think they're getting a royal marriage with Albania I think the goal is if you can't uh if you don't have enough influence to swallow them like in this case Albania because they had no influence in the area then you try to place influence and if you already have an alliance you try to enter a royal marriage or place more influence so that the next time you can more easily swallow them as a bot um okay so it's to me and I'm thinking oh I was thinking I play this Royal marriage on Poland but man what's the real value in that it's just gonna go away I think instead I just get the alliance I think I'm just gonna get the alliance with Poland [Music] oh the point actually ugh the point is that every time I call them into war it costs me less so I think that's valuable so we'll spend the Royal marriage card and only one diplomatic power remember I had three a second ago so we'll spend one diplomatic power to get a royal marriage with Poland and then the next time um we go and make an alliance with them we'll be on slightly more solid ground and hopefully we'll be dodging the ottoman you know it's slightly more efficient to do it this way it's so frustrating but uh diplomacy phew all right so let's see what the bot is going to do with diplomacy for the Ottomans they don't have any alliances or real marriages at the start of the game that I can see so we go all the way down here do they have two or more influence in any NPR area adjacent to the bot karaman is the only option crap select the NPR with the Hyatt they're going to eat karaman is an alliance possible with them if so place an alliance in the Target capital and add an extra influence I am pretty sure that is the case here and then they get the one extra Cube placed into there that's rough I was hoping they would attack karamon so that they would get distracted because karaman is I think up there on their chart owner of karaman now if they don't get that well the good news is if they do get owner of karma they're going to go further down this side of the tree so it still matters whether they get a one two three or something else all right back over here they got the alliance we placed the extra one and then we go to end turn and now it is venusbot's turn unrest let's see unrest unrest action is not going to trigger anything because they can't get the cores uh so we go back to the other action which in this case is a spy action you know I like it the Spy action I think they're going to choose my opponent at war with opponent no at war with an NPR no select an opponent and when they select I gotta pull up the bot selection algorithm here um on a one to three highest prestige on a four to six highest tax income lucky for me those are both ottomans so they are definitely selecting the Ottomans and then they're going to add two unrest to opponents towns and they will of course pick the two largest towns they can because they're mean so here's the thing I don't necessarily have to get my alliance with them right now instead I could pass be first player and get the first action Alliance next turn because I've already taken my event it's dangerous in the sense that if like unrest is caused by one of these could be a problem but there's only the one that might do it and it's in the middle so it's not super likely that they pull this one well it's about as likely as any because the left one might get picked ahead of time um but my Army is defending the only area that matters uh so I could raise a troop but that would be such a waste to raise one troop no I'm gonna pass I'm Gonna Take Five ducats and I'm gonna pass and that way if the ottoman bot pulls oh it's gonna pass too isn't it yeah it's not at War and now the amount of Bot power it has here is overshadowing what it's got here huh well I'll take the five Duke it's then I need the money you need adjacency to enemy or to you well yes the um the polls are adjacent to the Ottomans via their vassals in moldovia modavia so the way that I read it is during Wars vassals are always considered to be a part of their overlord's empire for basically all purposes which means when you call them to Arms these are considered part of Poland's Empire for all rules purposes I hope that's true that is how I've been reading it uh so now we look to ottoman bot and ottoman bot is not going to pass actually there whoa whoa I just did something horrible here what what is going on why did this move should have been locked in place how did this happen I need an adult I need an adult uh let's move this out of the way oh it got changed to Aragon by mistake that's why uh oh my God where is it don't need mamluk thought don't need Muscovy but give me the ottoman bot there it is okay locked okay now where did the die roll went flying all over the place okay so the Ottomans are don't have zero left but they get to here and they have spent more than they have left they are not at War so they will pick an event which may lead them to try to taking a little bit more time so a one on the event track pick the leftmost event and they get to gain one bot power because oops nope just one bot power because the event does indeed have some uh tokens on it now plague boy what are they gonna pick with plague wow is it an opponent's event no resolve option A and secondary events and blah blah blah so they have to place a plague in one of your own areas and another plague in an area adjacent to it and then a third as well all players must remove half of their units in these areas as casualties reduce a large town in one of these areas to a small town provinces and areas with uh plague provide a half tax income this is the first time I've ever actually seen this triggered nobody wants to take this it's just awful oh boy I don't know how the ottoman bot would choose uh area selection when applying effects beneficial to them or bad for an opponent prioritize highest tax value when applying effects bad for them or beneficial to an opponent prioritize lowest tax value so when they go to put something in an area where they have towns they're going to pick one with the lowest tax value which unfortunately seemed like it's going to be Greece which is going to hurt me a little bit because they have two tax everywhere else but they only have one tax in Greece so they are going to plague that and then they have to place three more or two more sorry they get to place a second one and because there was two ducats on the event they get to place a third one after that so half of their units in those areas is casualties luckily there's none here now they would not spread it there they have to spread it to adjacent areas the fact that they have a large city in uh in in idiren here is very good for me so they're probably gonna spread it up towards Venice I imagine they'd spread it towards an opponent right so they'd spread it here and then they'd spread it here in Del Matia so there aren't any units in any of those three zones and reduce a large city in one of those areas to small there are no large cities in those areas and then we have to remember that provinces and areas with plague provide half tax rounded down then they lose a they get to kill a cardinal of old age not with assassination I know what you were thinking H2 page three uh remove any Cardinal yeah the bot is just going to remove either of them because they're both controlled by the uh the opponent and then Pirates Pirates are being added place a pirate into a maritime trade note it must have at least one Merchant if possible well there's only three nodes with merchants and I think of these three the Ottomans probably value the Adriatic the least they probably value Alexandria and the Black Sea more because they are going to get the most money out of that so they're going to put Pirates into the Adriatic wait a minute is this Venice no it's Ottomans resolving this that's right duh I really have to remember to do this to properly demonstrate it okay and then finally pluses also have to take like constantinos come on man what are you doing what is this what does this nonsense okay yeah the rules are a mess because there's just so many different places where you can find information about the same rule uh and there's information that is not present in one of those but is present in the other like if there's two places where you can learn about non-player Realms there's more like three or four in the index then you go to one of them and it doesn't have all the rules for nprs it only has some of those rules and you go to a different area and it's got an overlapping set of rules plus different rules that weren't present in the other and it's missing stuff that the other one wasn't anyway you get the idea it's been a it's been a rough Journey but I think I've got it mostly down yeah the index is is nice it's good to have one it's just I wish it was organized better and to be honest though it is incredibly difficult to write a rulebook about a game this complex I give this at least a B plus because the fact that it's workable at all is a minor miracle so don't let that I just wish it was or it was set up better for reference right it seems to be designed for um actually it's not really designed for learning either it's just too big for that purpose but I just wish it was slightly better for referencing um slightly more towards that side anyway anyway venusbot still has some time to go the plague didn't give the ottoman bot it did actually give the ottoman bot one extra bot power because it had the extra tokens on it so venusbot is going to pull a card as per normal oh we got a military result okay let's go ahead and see what they are targeting who you going to war with Venice I hope it's I hope you take over stuff that the ottoman bot wants that's not Constantinople so we go to military action it's not at War does it have a claim venusbot has no claims the Ottomans do but venusbot does not that's the other problem is the ottoman Bond also has a claim which makes it more likely that it'll attack me right away vassals are not providing agency to Overlord oh yes so yaroslav says Realms explicitly state that vassals are not providing adjacency to Overlord and the Call to Arms rules are using adjacency to denote requirements yeah you might be right um I see they've answered so many things that had to do with war and vassals as just treat the vassals like an extension of the overlord during war periods I don't know if Call to Arms is mixed in with that for for this run through I'm going to assume it is and otherwise I would have done something very different there but rather than retcon it we're just going to assume that's the case uh and we will um we'll try to find an answer by next time so anyway there are no claims any areas with power Struggle No so we just go to the military targeting chart and roll a die a two on the venusbot's target chart is Ragusa so I think they're going to declare war does Ragusa have four or more no it only has one uh so it is eligible and it's not double the bot strength so the bot is going to spend another bot power and go to war with Ragusa Ragusa you have been declared upon and then it's going to recruit all of its troops five troops done uh let's see does it have any allies that can call technically yeah adjacent to the Target it can call Albania into the war so it's going to spend to influence gain two bot power and flip the flip this over but I like that they're spending influence that means that they're really calling them in needlessly here because they're definitely going to beat Ragusa without the help of Albania but if the bot chart says to do it the bot chart says to do it now does that trigger a naval battle almost certainly yeah Ragusa has only the one base tax and so the bot is going to go to war with that here so let's see what the naval battle looks like enemy is a PR no um roll battle dice artillery dice equal the number of hostile ships and I believe Red Goose is just going to have a single ship because it has a single level one port so we roll one Naval die and a cannon will damage potentially let's see so we didn't get a cannon uh artillery dice equals the number of fossil ships Cannon rolled greater than or equal to two plus adjacent bot ports definitely not it's basically impossible resolving bot receives one if it's the first battle won this turn and then ends the battle so yes the they gain one more bot power and then it doesn't end the turn it goes back to the military action so that was this now are there any land battles uh no they've already raised their troops so we scum on down to Army on the board no place into own area closest to enemy check for maximum Army capacity I think it actually gets placed directly in the area with the Enemy uh there's a plague there but I don't think the plague acts retroactively uh triggers battle yes go to Land Battle so now we're just rolling one die and assigning the casualties for that yeah good job kill one of them venetians all right bot did what it needed to do and that's gonna be the end of that whole thing I've already passed so it comes back to the ottoman button the ottoman bot's gonna go one more time now I really really want them to pull a military get it out of their deck because if they do I'm past they're not allowed to declare war on me come on oh convert paper curia Common Sense uh they can't convert I think we already determined that which means they also can't paperia I think they're just going to gain some stupid has Catholic State religion perform second action on card instead uh yeah so that means that we actually go to uh score Prestige spent on the card so they're going to spend two of these and get two free Prestige for doing nothing all right Venetian bot you gotta get them it's not fair over there he's gonna die right he's he's he's getting too strong um we also need to uh eject one of those man of the church no and that brings us back to venusbot gulp um so venusbot is at War and they are occupying an area they can Siege so they just Siege it for one and we know it's occupied I'm not going to mark it we're not going to forget uh and that costs them one bot power to do The Siege and that's the end of their Siege Activation so it comes back around to me and I'm passing it comes back around to the ottoman button the ottoman bot now definitely passes because it's not at War so and it's already taken the event so we get here and say yes we get here and say no yes pass so ottoman bot gets one extra bot power and the Venice bot gets a couple of turns on its own so what are they gonna do papal curia and spy uh papal curia is an action they can take because they are Catholic they are not the uncontested papal controller they are the papal controller and can use excommunication remove an opponent's thing no they just get to place a cardinal that's all they get to do and there's not really any such thing as an uncontested paper controller in this according to here there was a special rule about that um I don't know where it was though no Prestige is Con is scored for uncontested control of the curia and there was something else about uh now I've lost it it's gone anyway uh anytime uncontested control is just replace it with control for this scenario so they've done their papal curia action and that ends turn and it comes back around to them and they pull again because they're still they're not actually at War anymore uh uh are they or is it just for the purposes of a military action no I guess um I guess that's true wait they can get here from papal and spy actions when can spy actions go to military oh when they're on a crusade of course they can and it can also do it from a spy action wow you can get the military more more ways than I thought there's some scenario rule I was just reading in here that said that no prestigious can scored for con contested control of the curia and it starts trade deck emperor more Bots I swear I just read it on here I am losing my mind that anytime it refers to um uncontested control of the curia just consider it to mean control of the curia hmm crazy so anyway they've got the two cardinals now which is what they need I gotta remember to give them the bonuses for having control of the curia specifically they get one extra bot power uh and that's it actually they don't get the other bonuses because Bots don't get those things anyway papal curia happened and it comes back around to them now here's the thing I needed to find out are the is the bot considered to be at War now I know there's a rule uh where if they have completely conquered a Target they are not considered at War okay for all choices that's what I found it is in this bot rules so yes they are not considered at War which means they are going to go to pick an event because this you know they had just moved two of these over here and now they're spent is greater than what they have so they are going to pick an event now which event depends on the die roll a five all right a 5 is own event revealed no at war with opponent whose event is revealed no pick leftmost event gain one bot power so now they're gonna have another turn after this event which is sometimes the case so this is the one they are picking revolts you gain one oh again another bot power I'm glad Venice isn't up in my face because this is terrible for me if it was choose an area where you have a town without unrest and another area adjacent to it add unrest to two towns in each area one of these towns must be your own ugh well it makes sense that they would pick this one even though technically the bot is allowed to move Rebels to wherever they have an army um oh wow uh let me look at that again where's that card and another area adjacent to it I guess they could do it in such a way as to hurt the opponent that's in the lead by doing that because that's adjacent to noxus and this isn't any worse for the bot than this would be it would be much worse for a human because a human would have to March a stupid Army over there but when the bot rolls for Rebels um no that's not supposed to be there when the bot rolls for Rebels the uh the bot can just teleport the rebels to where their army is and have a fight so now we actually have to trigger the rebels in the bottom but the Venice bot only draws one Rebel die because they are the one resolving and they lose a bot power ottoman bot has one two three unrest uh oh they lose a bot power excellent good job Rebels good job so ottoman bot already passed they don't have an army on the map these could during the next Rebel phase actually cause a big problem and now O's will oh I don't have any O's I only have some squares so that's okay isn't revolts too unrest in each area oh it is isn't it yeah two in each area one of these must be your own yeah so they wouldn't want to pick this then just to screw over the Ottomans all right let's redo it they would pick this one and then like that one just so they get the least extra unrest so let's re-roll this situation um I took one bot power away from each of them but this is uh oh hang on the venetians are fine they're only rolling one um so that's ignored the this is going to be the uh they're only rolling one regardless so we're gonna let the one that they rolled stand now the ottoman should have rolled two instead of three so this will be their real role and it's the same thing they lost one Bob power with the two instead of the three um so yes it is four total but you can't add more than one here and you can't add any here so that's what they chose they chose at the choose an area where you have a town without unrest they did and then another area adjacent to it that has nothing add two unrest to two towns in each area one of these must be one of these towns must be your own they can't add because there's no towns here so it is what it is anyway that card is done and then we have to resolve what's on the bottom of this one which is uh lost at sea which has no effect because there's no distant content stuff here and then we do have a triangle oh man Baruch we just got you here all right so that was The Venetian event and now it comes back around to the Ottomans who have already passed and go to the background of the venetians and they actually gained a bot power so they are gonna keep going even though they're not at War they now have an equal number and they've got convert and focus War so we already determined that they can't uh can they convert note that they have Albania or that's already that's Orthodox is Serbia oh I'm sorry it wasn't Albania it was Del Matia and almatia is already Catholic that's the only thing they took over so they don't need to convert Dalmatia and stay there you go um so yeah they can't convert so they are going to do the focus which also finishes their little war thing so they come in second on this war milestone which means they get three one two three haha I am not the best opponent to a Target in any case and then it comes back around to them and this time they are not at War and they're spent outnumbers they're unspent so they will pass as well get out of here Castile so it was me and then the Ottomans and then the venetians it's not important others like to keep it for reference what happened before all right now we got to go through the end turn here so peace and Rebels remove Casa's belly and truces there are none NPR invasions uh you know I should keep this over here so you guys can see well I'm looking at a physical one of these uh let's see if I can move this out of the way and scooch that in oh that's considerably taller all right uh I wonder if there's a way to lock this on the current page and not just lock it to the board doesn't look like it maybe persistent but I'm not gonna mess with it hopefully I don't click that button by accident or everything's gonna go flying anyway point is here Rebel seizure move there aren't any Rebels peace resolutions um that is going to be a unmitigated success by the venetians to capture Ragusa good job venetians you win uh they don't get anything special for that I don't think the Bots don't although we do have to check and see they have total Victory do they get like extra Prestige for it do they have achieved total Victory against an NPR enemy yeah that's what they do score Prestige equals a tax value of annex property uh provinces so they get plus one for getting Albania and then flip War tokens to their true side and remove Bots claims from area where they own all provinces now Ragusa they should have added a um they would have added a claim I should have added a claim which means they would be removing it right now to gain uh get rid of the unrest because in the military chart this step would have added a claim and I forgot to put it there so see I'm remembering these things it's too late but I am remembering them all right so that's peace resolution next up on the list Prestige penalties there are none interregnums there are none religious dissent okay we determined that there definitely is somewhere not here not anywhere inside of Venetian areas this is religious dissent for the Ottomans and not for me because it is my state religion so that's nice the religion thing is actually helping me huzzah the people are Orthodox and they don't want these bastards so Bots only gain a Max of one in any given location and it looks like it could also be here yeah um but for the sake of making me feel better it's going to be this one again Bots don't care where the unrest is it teleports to where their army is only in this case the Army's not on the board so maybe that means that it will be worse for them we'll see um so I don't have any unrest because both areas are Orthodox so we go to gain slash remove unrest there isn't any situation where that applies Maui roll Rebel Dice and there are three for the Ottomans if they pull some rebellions that could be bad oh man they remove one unrest and then they take one more bot power loss so the unrest they remove is obviously going to be their capital they had a choice that would be the one and that's Rebel dice so next up uh income and upkeep I'm not going to cut any costs let's just find out what our pathetic base tax is oh down [Laughter] did I pick it up and fling it somewhere uh yeah oh oh oh oh oh I remember what you guys were saying now the Call to Arms has to be adjacent to me or to the Target so moscovy isn't nearly as good a choice I see I see the problem here at peace and adjacent to you or your new enemy so when I got the free alliance with a um orthodox um Empire Muscovy makes no sense let's rethink that is there any Orthodox Empire or Orthodox faction that has three areas to its name this one is Muslim these guys I think let's take a look yeah we're just gonna look in this because all almost all the Orthodox ones are here Yaris levels one zapro zapper Zorro only present on the other map Orthodox Orthodox Orthodox moscopy is 10 yes I know that would be great Moldavia is a Polish vassal though so that you can't get an alliance with oh Byzantium perfect I'll just get an alliance with myself uh let's see is there anything on here that's got three or more ducats and also is no I think I'm just gonna have to settle for a one or two Province minor wallachia is two that's probably my best bet circassia is also on there and Georgia's there and treziban so yeah let's take our free alliance with uh wallachia just because and then next turn we can maybe oh no I have to put this somewhere where we actually it's got to be treza Bond I got to put it somewhere we actually have some influence otherwise it's not gonna last very long um let me just double check on that oh uh oh never mind it's down here yeah it didn't give me a royal marriage it just gave me the alliance but at least now I have um some influence in this area so that if I need to make the call to trezabond they will answer man I felt so much better when it was mosque if you watched my back but it totally makes sense right that they would not join the war if they weren't adjacent to me or the target now ma'am looks or not but one two three four five six seven eight nine ten they're also ten oh they're actually 11. so they also would not be a good Target for that anyway back to wherever the heck we were income that's right and I was missing a town and we were looking for it and then I realized moscowy's too far away where the hell did my town go we're gonna find it sometime later and be like what is going on here so 14 is this in here no no I thought maybe it fell in here all right I'm just going to copy it and hope that we find it eventually all right so my base tax is four and I'm going to be paying through the nose for this one two three four five six oh but I get an extra two for my stability so I'm even Net Zero baby except that I have a ship don't I yeah I have a ship so I'm not Net Zero I'm minus one damn you ship uh I don't I mean I don't want to get rid of the ship to save that one duke it just in case the Black Sea gets a trade node next time gets a trade on it okay so that's my Monarch power if the emperor is an NPR we roll a die to find out what's going on with the Emperor's um Imperial Authority and it's still nothing score Prestige clean up oh we gotta get bots uh Monarch power one two three four five six seven eight there we go and one two three four five six seven eight nine because curia dang that's a lot of Bot power Venice you're in good shape and Emperor doesn't apply here so yeah now I just gotta give myself Monarch power and feel really bad about getting very small numbers one two three and then I get two diplomatic power and then I get three military power so I'm not going to try to declare war until I get a lot more military power this turn I could probably change National Focus over to military oh wow I have very little influence cubes left I probably don't care about this one or this one I mean Cyprus wouldn't be bad uh as an ally I just or I just don't think I'm gonna be able to do it with all these other options I have out here so yeah we're gonna try to get Serbia soon enough this turn as well so yeah we can get Serbia as an ally and we can even get this urzurem as an ally doesn't have to be the same um doesn't have to be the same religion for alliances only for uh serum all right none of these yeah treza bond is the scary one down here so we can look into getting this one and Serbia added to our list of allies and also wallachia maybe I can spend some money and do some trade maybe to make that work okay anyway stop thinking about the future we got to finish what we got going on here update Manpower uh it hasn't changed for everyone except maybe Venice who's got four five six yes they did they gained one Manpower uh refresh merchants status boards ah remove plague and then we have to remember that the plague should have reduced my income by half although that means I think I lose one total duke it because these would be each half so I lose one ducat of income from that and do the Bots have any effect does plague have any effect on the Bots I think it has no effect on the Bots it's not big enough to be represented by a whole bot power most of the time so we remove the plague you remove the plague and we remove the plague get out of here we don't like you okay and that is it reshuffle bot decks and we're good to go so we didn't get any military cards from and so now there's a higher chance of military being drawn by the Ottomans so we put one two into here and we put one up here and the ottoman deck is set one two three and then this goes into here we don't know what it is and we're ready to go one one round down 15 to go this one despite the fact that we were starting a new one was only an hour and a half so hopefully the next one will be about an hour I'll be back on in about five or six
