Rimworld: Critical Chaos - Part 11: How Not To Hunt

hey folks this is decohere - and welcome back to rim or old so excitement abounds today we are ready to begin harnessing the power of the atom well probably I don't know we're building this research bench which is gigantic it's not terribly expensive but it immediately reminds me that I've probably lowball the size of the workshop that I need again but that's okay we can actually expand and fill up this whole area over time just right now it's getting used for a defunct field so that's something that we'll do I switched some weapons around I'd forgotten that I have some change shotguns somebody is coming to get that Moken is coming to finish off this bug grab a change shotgun okay that's all well and good and I had someone else doing something slightly surprising that I thought was interesting Oh Moken oh it is you okay sorry then I have you queued all the way back to come cook Moken is actually a good cook at 8:00 so I am going to have Moken come and actually make a bunch of meals because currently we are feeding our prisoners the disgusting Greg Mills and I don't want to continue doing that because I actually really do need this manpower you have food you got food poisoning was it from the incredibly awful meal I don't know which one but the point is we really need to get them recruited so that's the plan um I moved our leopard over into the corpse area so that they can also eat corpses there over there's muffle OHS down here I was thinking should we recruit a second muffle oh and like make lots more muffle OHS we could I mean maybe I could keep one alive um female age 10 age 6 birthday today that's adorable ah here we go female yep that's perfect you're young so go ahead and get tamed hopefully at some point other than that I think things are looking pretty solid the bugs gave us essentially no trouble they will provide us with meat for kibble the black kite and stuff is good I do need to get some more clothing going so I've got a whole bunch of heavy fur which is really good stuff and what I'm kind of thinking is oh this bug just decided to get up okay that's weird okay anyway on the question is do I use the heavy fur for like parkas or do I use them for dusters because it insulates really well and it's also really durable stuff it's like I don't know what to do with it what are you doing you're attending okay never mind just gonna say I need somebody to come come here you have a gun come here you have a shotgun that's actually perfect come take care of this bug thank you much appreciate it actually while you're at it can you finish off this bug perfect thank you much appreciate it go ahead and get that place cleaned up from all that bug goo I guess oh yeah we got a bunch of fibrous mecha Knights too fibrous mecha Knights are obnoxious I just I just hate them they're just bad but there we are oh well all right I'm just gonna make mow can make a handful of meals here you're actually not in a very good mood so I'm gonna let you go after eight meals here ready okay now you're free go ahead and go do whatever you want well sort of and oh I was thinking about growing you know there actually is quite a bit of fertile soil of rich soil out here and it's actually surrounded by this vent well might be interesting at some point the future is to put a couple more growing areas out here it's just surrounding all this rich soil because a lot of stuff takes a long time to grow and doesn't need any intervention you know in the meantime so that might actually be a good plan I don't know what to see anyway you go ahead and relax socially and then in the morning I will send you off to do something else probably cook because I think Noriko needs some rest right a refugee whoo against five of us know these like rescue quests have been a little outsized in my mind from what it is that we should actually be you know attempting okay now you are healthy enough you're not gonna screw this up right I think so six I'm sorry that we need reactors that's definitely something that we need which one should we start with in energy weapons high energy weapons system gained a dominant battlefield advantage with our combat proven and long-range targets super cool all right so how do I do this do I have to like so I have to pay oh this is paying the ship in orbit ah and then that lets us research it maybe I guess I don't know Moken researching away talked about friendly beggars blah blah blah what's great about this bed is then I can move one of the prisoners into the extra room that I'm about to free up okay so this is actually out it's actually a normal quality bad it's not bad who's nearby Enrico can you come uninstall this thank you and if you can come reinstall this these are pretty tiny bedrooms but they're not gonna get any better okay now who gets this this is converted and Teddy I do actually keep a little list but I can't see my notes quite at the moment where I'm sitting so actually well I'll leave you guys in the same room it's fine talked about changing teams asked about her age be nice be good heartfelt apology three point six two two point two the nips just throw up on himself no it actually makes me feel kind of bad he's like laying right there vomiting on himself ah that's so gross poor guy I'm really sorry about that poor poor lady I'm really sorry about that okay so we've got some more stuff put together let's start building these rooms like we gotta get this place together this place is gonna need to be heated oh and it looks like we are gonna get all the cotton that's good because otherwise we do not have any way to make flak vests so that's pretty important so this has never even been planted yaks it's too cold out here okay well in that case let's go ahead and let's take a bunch of sandstone let's finish this place off yes and then we'll cover it and put in vents and all that good stuff the power is gonna be problematic but I think we can pull it off now who do I have on hi constructing just to make sure I'm not screwing this up okay it's Moody okay yep that's perfect all right so let's make our plan here how to do this this is gonna be so much power when I don't have nukes up um is there any part of this rich soil here this is so that's probably actually the corner Oh actually it doesn't really matter let's just go ahead and let's plug it in here y-yeah that's fine and I'm left to rough this area in and I'm left to heat it ah it's it's okay I just hope to be able to get away with this a little longer yes I know it's permanent winter and stuff like that but even so I was just hoping you know and then we'll put in some vents and some doors and stuff like that once you've got this closed in gentle snow that's not great okay so it's time to harvest these plants before all these things die I need this cotton the squash is fine but I wouldn't mind having them step is completed yes next construct a research reactor it is advised to build it in a secure fireproof lab that that is a worrying thing to say I love that that's exciting unfortunately it doesn't look at this much else we can do at the moment we actually don't even really have the money to unlock anything else do we well know we could unlock one of these how about we learn what we learn how to actually know let's hold on to that for a moment cuz there's other things we need to do okay the things that I really want to do are he stalls for time fire foam and we need to get through deep drilling and on component fabrication before we accidentally use up everything on this map so let's do fire foam first cuz that's a really important thing to have especially when so much of our base is built out of wood you know and a poison ship for example and we got a new recruit okay hold on where's the poison ship oh it's way down there okay we can deal with that some other time hey welcome okay this is good let's get you sorted out oh you're gonna be so great okay it's funny there's actually a bunch of overlapping skills we have now but that's that's okay I'm just gonna lob some stuff on there for the moment and let's see here what should I give you for a weapon we actually took your gun away that's actually pretty funny you suck at shooting why don't you come grab a change shotgun I think that's a great plan and then you can actually sleep in here for the moment and that's fine and eaten I think is also about to get recruited yeah this is gonna be good we're gonna have people all over the place and we're now we're really gonna have to get this apparel taken care of let's let's get some hunting queued up what can we do for hunting we've got lots of Caribous and stuff like that to have anything interesting on the map no no should we take a group and come get a whole bunch of Caribous actually I like that idea I like that idea quite a bit moody you're just going to go mine why don't you come actually no we should wish government to change everyone with a change shotgun yeah Moken come here I don't care about research at the moment person who is now named Mort c'mere and does anyone else really look like they should come do some hunting I mean I guess we can take moody that's fine but let's just go grab a whole bunch of animals all at once this is more efficient in my mind that's not true but if you would like to go ahead and believe that that would be awesome Oh umm what is the range unchanged shotguns I know it's really short oh it's even shorter than that okay we really got to get right up kind of close ah the power of the change shotgun they're so great here just go ahead and finish that one off you have to good job now come over here watch we're gonna get revenge and everyone over here is gonna die but it's gonna be so funny I thought that change shotgun would help your terrible aim a little bit but apparently not because you know in some ways a quantity has a quality all its own you know whoops and there it is caribou revenge okay did these all go Manhunter they sure did okay how many caribou just no this doesn't show me how many one went Manhunter okay well okay this is pretty bad okay um yeah this is pretty bad should I just have them stand and take a stand honestly that might be the best thing to do and we'll get everyone over here as fast as we can but by the time they get here it's not gonna it's not gonna matter they're all gonna be down hopefully they don't die I mean these change shotguns are pretty mean but there's no way that they're gonna be able to knock these guys down in time yeah colonists these rescue that didn't take long um yeah okay any chance of getting a few more change shotgun runs out maybe back up a little bit if they're only gonna hit one at a time then maybe don't hit your friend spread these out a little bit actually then you might be able to run away okay Moody's down okay this is pretty bad Moken why don't you go ahead and just try to run alright everybody else let's gotta try to come help not us actually did kind of a number on those Manhunters there's actually only three left yeah you guys come right here okay well there's actually more than that woah that ok you have to admit that was pretty funny that was actually really quite funny we can go ahead and we can turn this back Medical for the moment ok anyway never mind unfortunately I knocked out my good doctor so now it's gonna be Teddy who's gonna be doctoring at number 1 again wait who just who just turned around someone just turned around oh no you didn't ok ah well that could have gone better it also could have gone worse so you know I would prefer that you were sleeping in an actual bed but that's okay and we're gonna waste a little bit of medicine here on purpose oh no you're fine and how are you oh you're also fine mocha is the only one that got any actual real injuries the rest of you just got bruises okay well that's no big deal okay and we want to come hunt some of these we'll just suddam us hunt there's some random survival meals all your weapons got knocked down seriously guys there are a bunch of dead caribou so at least that's kind of nice all right well I'm not sure that was worth it but it's something I did so here we are Oh Logan's gotten an infection because of course you have okay let's do this let's kick you out of bed let's have Teddy come rescue you and then come tend to you yeah I was worried about that did you just you did just use please tell me you use medicine used actual medicine you did not okay that's that's unfortunate but that's apparently a thing that happened okay so why don't you guys go ahead just do whatever it is you're doing but then I would like these guns Hall two urgently after that I'm less concerned about the rest of this stuff we can get to that starvation mort's starving why is no one feeding Mort that's terrible don't do that oh it's cuz of the mecca nights right right right and we got our other new recruit welcome on you are now alright welcome to the team Don so what are we gonna have you do you're also a very strong person you're gonna take over cooking oh that's good that is good and again you're just great at crafting and you'll clean so let's drop cleaning down on other people although actually Teddy doesn't have a lot else to do at this time well well that's this is this is this is fine where's mining just to make sure mining is on there you're actually not a bad miner - yeah yeah just go ahead I'll figure this stuff out as we go okay so we can go and we can undo these four prisoners okay so now we've got plenty of beds okay cool I'll start here we're going not that great oh we need to run some power over to let's run some power over and I heard some gunfire and that worries me no more hunting just come haul it Mogan I'm concerned about we need to make sure that you were gonna get the best quality doctoring which unfortunately is teddy but I need Teddy to actually like use medicine this time he didn't last time I mean I think you'll be okay but it's not great okay come to end yeah see hmm all right there we go I played it the pharmacists disease immunity margin and I think I have that wrong but the point is I needed that tended well so I don't even care if that's a waste now you should be okay now that'll take up faster then yep and especially extreme you're a hospital bed you'll be fine no worries all right okay good we've got some power going in here let me fix these zones it is cold in here but not terrible we'll get some heat moved in we can open this up now we're gonna have to build some heaters here and there but will you know we'll kind of get those as you go actually don't do that just um actually there's no reason for this not to just be one big room just come knock that down okay so it looks like we can sustain these without a whole lot of trouble so let's do some nice stuff like put some lights inside it looks like I forgot to put them here and there I am gonna flip this around sideways but we can go ahead and we can light the place up for the moment these are cheap there are only five five five five metal five steel let's just plunk these all over we'll put one there that will be okay for right now and this is a nice temperature we're gonna put some doors in here I think and they maybe hold them open no I'll put a door over here though and I am gonna need to fix these zones let me just go ahead and do that [Music] Katyn this wall sunita heater so let's get that add it in there we've got cotton in here for some reason coffee oh I remember the coffee and tea and tomato sleds nice Caravan request yeah I wish I had the time to do caravans oh this stuff really needs to be hauled inside who's out who can do that okay well nobody at this exact instant but I would like that done sooner rather than later well can how are you doing bud after I almost got you killed yeah you're doing great you're gonna be fine no trouble at all I kicked him up to bed rest on number one because I really want him to lay down so down here there's a whole bunch of deer remember how cool it was when we had a whole bunch of caribou and I went hunted them and everything turned out perfect I do too so let's go ahead let's try that again I mean this time we're gonna take even more people yes this will go perfectly alright so the whole point of this bizarre little escapade was just to like just to get a whole bunch of meat laid in for the winter before everyone leaves oh that's right my battery broke and I forgot to have anyone fix it you know what you're already out here why don't you just haul one of these back with you I mean it's not like it's gonna take you any longer and then why don't you haul that one and were you doing anything on your way back it doesn't look like I wanted to haul that one you two are gonna eat on the floor and then go crazy actually I think converting will probably do some hunting next that what you decided to do it is that I leave in a deer laying around I don't think so I think that's it alright that should give us plenty of meat for the winter we don't have a ton of vegetables but that's ok I'm actually gonna hold on to that stuff too so that we have um so that we can make kibble and stuff like that and in fact you know what let's suspend this butchering bill temporarily yeah I think that's a good idea all right we're finally getting some walls put in here clearly that's taken quite a while now if I am gonna go ahead and do with this ship with mortars which I enjoy doing rather I'm gonna need chem fuel so we need to go ahead and we need to make a refinery biofuel refinery we're getting low on stuff aren't we um that can go outside at the moment that's okay actually no don't do that what am I thinking don't be stupid eco it can go right in here it's just gonna get moved anyway before too much longer but go ahead and plunk it in there that's not outdoors what are you talking about oh well it is 109 but you know besides that it's only 109 temporarily well okay it's 109 rather longer than I'd like um just take out part of this wall apparently the vent is not letting enough air move past so we'll do that instead and then we're just about ready to spin these rooms up and then start clearing things out since you're right here can you just just do that just super quick it'll just take a second thank you see you now it's nice all right we need a little more wood still because we're still actually using a lot of wood for power but we're gonna need like uranium and stuff so I do need to get some actual research done here maybe you have enough to buy it I mean I could switch to art early on I just didn't want to and we could I guess well let's get some let's get these rooms turned in actual rooms before I run out of steel oh I forgot that there's a whole bunch of jelly up here oh that's good here why don't you come haul some of this stuff and then I'll have let's say convert and haul some more that won't get it all down but I totally forgot about this stuff obviously because it's sitting up here that is not only good food but it also gives you a recreation buff it's the best it's one of the nicer things about the black I've actually there's lots of good things about the black hive event here um come back and haul this will you pick both up then there we go perfect thanks guys um I don't care about the lights we're not gonna we're not gonna worry about them right now okay obviously we're gonna go ahead and make our cam fuel from wood I was really hoping that we would be able to make oh that's interesting I was really hoping we'd be able to make this out of the disgusting paste meals but apparently we can't that's okay and I should actually grow some bamboo too apparently that's supposed to be pretty good stuff so yeah these are all things we'll have to work on what are we working on we're halfway through fire foam oh my god this is gonna take forever but we're gonna do a great job building out our base in the meantime so that's kind of good I suppose when what I really want to do is make a reactor maybe it should spin up some art that's actually not a bad idea maybe I should do that and let's go ahead let's get our orbital trade up I should have really done that a long time ago but go ahead and put that together let's put some flooring in these rooms let's put in what are we not putting yet a light wood flooring let's put light wood flooring in these bedrooms wait is this crap I got to put yeah okay hold on hold on hold on now let's put bridges in first but then for the floors yeah let's build one or two just as light wood and let's see if that looks like and then I'll have to find something to coordinate correctly with the bridges so it looks nice short-circuit risk oh right yeah yeah let's put a roof over that so at least it doesn't get rained on I knew that sure just do that oh look how pretty that is now is that that's plus one as well oh that's nice something's happening but I can't see it a bulk goods trader oh this is good see we really need these trade ships um let's see here so we're gonna have convert and fine we're gonna have a Norco do all of our traders trading so I don't you come give a call to them yeah I know well there's not a whole lot we can do here I mean I could sell them or animals but obviously I'm not going to I'm gonna sell them some of the little bits and pieces of leather we have we actually have quite a bit of weight do we have more light leather and oh this is all we have although I think that's enough to make an animal bed so I should go ahead and do that anyway Titan is obviously going to get turned into proper armor actually I should try making something like a chitin parka doesn't that sound cool I think that sounds cool I don't know maybe I'm not very good at this game and it looks like we're gonna have to use regular wood in here just to make it look right oh that's disappointing but well oh well at least the rooms will look coordinated then right that's the important part as the things look good okay fire foam is good on okay good good good so let's move towards deep drilling so first we need the multi analyzer there's some gold up here somewhere there's Jade here we go there's some gold over here so we will be able to make it I'm just obviously not gonna mind that because I don't need that you know screwing up my wealth moody you're bored whew that's a dangerous thing to say around here how about you come chop some trees then because we apparently used up all of our wood that will give you some video just cut down just cut down all the trees just cut down all the trees that Greg hasn't eaten yet how about that and in fact in fact we could use some more stone too so that I can start putting in better-looking flooring let's bring in let's bring in a bunch of marble yep and then go ahead and get that chopped up I know we need warm clothes it's it's okay so far it's fine don't worry about it I promise whoa oh whoa a Lynx oh no and there's no way I can get over to save you oh no um yeah there's no way I can get over to save you who's up Moodie yeah no crap oh that's sad well rip red panda well will will avenge you though I promise well actually we'll two of you revenge will that be enough revenge ago to bring milk in just in case the three of us will come revenge you oh that's too bad and you're probably over here to help haul these components too oh all right well let's make it pay for its misdeeds everyone come over here all together now destroy okay nice well done yep all right wait consume isn't there a place for you there you go that's so sad ah well I tried everyone remember that I tried it start getting some guests it's gonna be fantastic we've got lights everywhere we've got some coffee beans I assume that I don't really know what to do with yet but I'll figure out how to cook those
