hey everyone and welcome to story time my name is Jake and today we are gonna be looking at the subreddit our such I don't work here lady where people tell us their craziest stories on when they got mistaken for being an employee as somewhere they didn't work if you know around here please do hit subscribe down below so that you never miss out on another video but for now let's sit back relax and enjoy some reddit stories a single digit makes all the difference for those who remember my previous posts I'm in the military I have been stationed in quite a few different places around the US and the world because of that I have a cell phone number that is out of area and use it but just about everything between that and the occasional work issued phone I've never felt the need to have a dedicated landline however with my most recent residence the company I get my internet and cable through had a plan set up where every service came individually or you could get a bundled box that had cable internet and phone however there was no cable / internet only option since the phone included bundle was cheaper than a la carte I say hell were there might as well I even went ahead and got a cheapo phone and plugged it in that was my first mistake apparently this number was one number different from a local Domino's pizza place fortunately I didn't have the company put my number on the commercial instead of their own problem we often see here but I did have one person who managed to call me a few times yes more than once instead of calling the pizza place I can only guess that she had tried to program here into a contact entry and only ever went back to the contact each time rather than dialing outright the first time the phone rang I of course picked it up curious as to who would be trying to call me on a number I hadn't actually given to anyone that was my second mistake the conversation should have been simple sorry you have the wrong bah oh my bad click where it's so easy given that I'm here now posting this story we all know that's not what happened call number one hello that's no way to answer the phone for a restaurant you should identify yourself and your company when you pick up but this isn't a restaurant this is my home line don't lie to me now take my order is click I hung up immediately she called back hello still with this what's wrong with you oh really now she opened the door of douchebaggery so I'm more than happy to walk through it mentally cracking my knuckles I engaged my fine and Missouri side affecting a heavy twang I said Hanks roadkill cafe you kill it we grill it this is Hank jr. speaking how may I help you there was a few seconds of silence then what on earth are you talking about I just want to order some pizza that's gonna be a bit of an issue hon seeing as how there ain't no pieces running across the road for you to hear how we gon grill up dead Peter when there ain't no such thing this is extremely unprofessional let me speak to your manager Hank hey Hank get your butt over here then I hung up thinking that would be the end of it surely no one would think that performance was a valid phone number for a pizza place that was my third mistake about five minutes later she called back recognizing the number I did for mess around to call number three Alfredo's pizza cafe this is Mike how may I help you wait I thought this was Domino's no this location used to be a Domino's but it was bought by Alfredo our prices are a bit more expensive but what would you rather have a medium amount of good pizza or all-you-can-eat of pretty good pizza what can I say I'm a die-hard the office fan I'll tell you what I want to order stop trying to upsell me on things I don't need she proceeded to launch into a rather lengthy delivery order with more than a few details none of which I wrote down as I gave uh-huh and gotchas throughout okay I've rung all the up unfortunately for you we're running a special half off for any order up to eight pieces the total comes out to $63 fifty what that's so much more expensive than Domino's were charged and that's half off yes ma'am but it's the best pizza in the city according to the Scranton times whatever just get it here ASAP she yelled her address at me then hung up without even letting me try to confirm two hours later the number pops up on the phone I mentally prepared myself for yet another round in the ring with this mental lightweight call number four Alfredo's pizza cafe this is Karen sounding more like a punchy crossed with a diesel engine she was clearly a lifelong smoker doing her best to yell where is my pizza oh dear I'm sorry how would delivery driver wasn't able to make it to you while he was out on the run delivering an order at another address he was held hostage by a strange group of people in a small business park who were having an after-hours office party by the time he was let out and got back to his car your pizza was cold and he was terribly traumatized so we gave him the rest of the night off also this was never a restaurant number like I said from the very start what do you mean this isn't a restaurant you said you were and took my order yeah about that I lied I cold with fake Monica laughter which only served to enrage her more Karen incomprehensible nonsense punctuated by the word manager at least a couple times lady list this isn't a pizza place it's a home number and I'm done with you I hung up and disconnected the phone from the box the cable system would pop up a notice any time someone called the line if you are watching TV with the number that was calling and I got at least a dozen more calls from her that night plus two more the following night after that it stopped fast-forward two weeks my wife and I were in the mood for some pizza so I suggested picking up from that Domino's in the intervening weeks I had done some searching online and found the Domino's with the one number difference that was the partial cause of that fun-filled evening and it seemed like as good as a candidate as any to get our dinner fraud that night I called the order in as I left work and stopped by to pick it up on my way home waiting for it to finish in the oven I recounted the story of what had happened to the cashier she was floored the look on her face was priceless she explained to me that Karen had come into their location like a bat out of hell looking to cause all sorts of misery thinking they were the ones that had done this to her she refused to listen to anyone explain that they had no idea what she was talking about not even the manager and eventually he had to be removed from the location by cops and was served with a trespass order fortunately I have not received any subsequent calls from Karen all told it was well worth their time I spent on the phone with her I never get people calling me like that saying oh is this a pizza place or a restaurant or something like that I really want a number that's close to someone just so I can mess with people like that that was a brilliant story I don't work here or there the anti Karen with so many I don't work here stories with amazingly rude people how about a change of pace I was flying from Indianapolis to Portland via Las Vegas I am disabled and amputee and I'm entitled to the early boarding granted to people with mobility problems after being called up for boarding in Vega I saw an older dark-skinned woman wearing western clothes but she was either Indian or Arab with the Southwest Asian look she didn't speak English and the gate attendants were trying to tell her someone was on that way to help her to her seat I offered to help then offered her my arm it took a while getting down the jetway and with the flight attendants busy boarding passengers I got the woman seated then went to my own seat after getting to Portland I helped her off the plane finding a wheelchair i wheeled her down the jetway checked where she was going Portland was her final destination so I just decided to wheel her to wherever she was being met we were both headed the same way in any case so it was no skin off my nose she jabbered at me the entire time I had no idea what she was saying but her tone was friendly and she seemed happy so I just kept going it was quite a ways so she talked to me for quite some time but we finally got to the TSA checkpoint where we met her son a happy were in Union as I started to walk away but the woman made it clear that she wanted me to stay for a minute I waited as she spoke to her son I assume explaining what I had done for her he told me she wanted to know my name so she could tell my boss what a wonderful employee I was to fly all the way to Portland just to take her to her son I explained that I didn't work for the airline or the airport here or there and that I was just another passenger that was going her way she was really confused by this apparently Americans were not usually so nice to her I explained we were both going the same way and it really was no trouble at all what do you call someone who is the opposite of a Karen that was this lady she didn't demand anything hell she didn't even ask I just offered help and she really appreciated air and it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling that lasted for hours now the wholesome stories are back finally we do need a name for the auntie Karen's though maybe Helen Susan's kind of a mile Aaron isn't here I don't know you guys you guys pick one when the swimming-pool publish your number in their adverts and won't do anything about it start taking bookings my beloved grandfather who is no longer with us had an issue when the local pulsar sports centre used his number by mistake in an advert he lived in a part of the world with a unique legal system becomes relevant later so I will adopt the terminology to make it more global he was in his 70s extremely stubborn and a little devious this was also nearly 30 years ago so many more conveniences such as caller ID etc weren't around the first call came when they had just returned to the house after it was flooded during an unusual high tide is that the swimming pool no you should have been here last week a few more calls asking about facilities and opening times were answered politely because it wasn't the caller's fault but the sports centre refused to do anything about there because they weren't being bothered by it they suggested if it was a problem he could change his number he saw no reason for him to do this when the problem was made by him so he decided to start taking bookings and giving out all the wrong information this was the final call the unwitting stranger I would like to book a court how much will it be to reserve it my devious grandfather 1000 US dollars how much $1,000 to reserve a squash court I don't have any squash courts I was quoting for a Magistrates Court after a little more back and forth my grandfather explains to the unwitting stranger that she had dialed a wrong number because the Sports Centre had failed to correct a mistake he gave them the right number but asked the stranger to make sure she told the Sports Centre how infuriating it was to have her time wasted because of this mistake the Sports Centre paid for the operator to screen calls from then on Wow that's really really genius marketing right there you know let's put the wrong number on our work paid for advert but then when we put the wrong number on ah it's not our
