Review of Niagara Falls MARRIOTT FALLSVIEW HOTEL & SPA | Luxury on a Budget | Living in Canada

hi guys and welcome back to my channel living in canada in today's video i want to talk about my stay at the jw marriott in niagara to be precise the niagara falls marriott falls view hotel and spa i took this footage a while ago i and my husband went on a short getaway to niagara for two nights and three days we stayed at the falls view hotel and we really loved it it was awesome and at this point you might be thinking but isn't that super expensive staying at this kind of luxury hotel and that was what i thought at first because from what i know in other countries the jw marriott is quite expensive but i happened to go there at a time where it was low season and the rates were low so it wasn't as expensive as i thought and just to let you know for our whole trip of two nights and three days including accommodation food and also transportation we only spent a bit less than 600 canadian dollars including everything and i really counted everything in but we mostly took public transportation except for once or twice we took a lift and it's really doable if you want to go on a short getaway you want to stay at a rather luxurious place but don't want to break the bank you just need to very cleverly balance everything out how much you spend on food versus how much you spend for accommodation and so on but i'll get to that later on so in this video today i want to talk about the location of the false view hotel whether i liked it or not the price the overall experience whether i thought it was worth it and whether or not i would go back there or not so let's start we went to niagara around christmas time and that is why you see this christmas tree and the decoration this is the lobby of the hotel and here right at the front you can see the starbucks and we actually bought breakfast for ourselves here because at that time there wasn't any breakfast served by the hotel i would caution you buying coffee and food from the starbucks in the hotel because i must say that it is much more expensive than the regular starbucks prices i think it's about at least 20 more expensive and also while at other starbucks you can get water for free here they actually charge you for the water not much but still i mean who wants to pay for starbucks water right and this is where you check in and here's a small tip for you i would recommend you to check into the hotel slightly before the regular check in time because i'll show you later if you check in during the regular check-in time then it is really crowded and you'll have to queue for quite a while and you don't want to waste your time like that so we got our key and here we're in the elevator going up to the ninth floor and we put in quite a lot of thought into booking the room because depending on what room you book what floor it is on you can get a drastically different view so keep this in mind if you really want to have the best view if you really want to enjoy the gorgeous view from your hotel room here then i would recommend you to book a room that has the falls view and not the city view because if you book the city view then you will just look down on a bunch of buildings and who wants that right and it is slightly more expensive maybe around 200 per night but i'll tell you it's really worth it especially if you want to have a relaxed weekend so we're walking down the corridor and our room is almost at the very end and we finally arrived here at a room going in and the first impression is really really good i was really impressed going in here and it was also super clean that's also one important thing to note especially if you're a clean freak like i am when i stay at hotels i really make it a point to get a clean room and i usually when i do the booking i put that in the comments like if you book something online there is always a section where where you can fill out any special requests etc and what i usually put there is when i want to check in if i want to check in earlier and also usually i request that the hotel staff pay extra attention to the cleanliness of the room in general of course these kind of hotels are really clean but i've read in the reviews that people have had the experience of booking a room that was really dirty and there were like a beer cans and so on so just to avoid that kind of experience it's a good idea to just put that in the comments so they'll pay a bit more extra attention to that so here we are on the ninth floor falls view queen room with two queen size beds and this is obviously more than enough for the two of us but um this room could easily fit in uh four people but if you have more people coming with you then you would need to state that at the time when you're when you're booking and there might be an room is yeah it's it's on the larger side i would say we have these two queen beds and it's really nice at night if you keep the curtains open to just lie there and look at the scenery and this is the gorgeous scenery it's really beautiful and it's even more beautiful at night and i'll show you some footage of that later on so from this room this height the ninth floor you really really get a splendid view and what i love about the location of this hotel is also that it's located so close to the falls and also a lot of restaurants it's really the perfect location i would say when i book hotels one of the first things that i look at is not the bed but the bathroom because that's something that's really important to me i mean that it's at least clean you get this huge bathtub this jacuzzi i note here though that i don't think it's in all of the rooms so you'll have to check and read the details if your room actually includes a bath tub a jacuzzi or not and there is this window here that you can open um so you can see into the bedroom so in theory and in practice you could be lying in the bathtub and then peeking into the bedroom watching tv although i found that it was a bit hard to do because um it was the the bathtub was quite low quite deep so it was maybe especially at my height it was a bit difficult to really get a good look at the tv but that's something that you could do and what i also really loved is the fact that it didn't only have a bathtub but that there was also a separate shower and also the toilet was separate so it had a separate door so a few people could be using the bathroom at the same the shower was also really great and the water pressure especially was really good you know those hotels where the water pressure is just where it's just awful and the water just comes trickling out and here's the reverse view so this is how it looks like looking in from the bedroom into the bathroom and of course if you want more privacy you can just simply um close these panels here here you get your soaps shampoo conditioner body wash and there of i would say relatively high quality so the room overall is pretty well maintained i would say although the hotel has been around for quite a while it still looks pretty great another thing that i also really love is this sofa this single sofa here in the front it's really nice to just sit here and have a drink and look at the scenery i could just sit here for hours with a book and just just enjoy the atmosphere and again i think that this kind of hotel is really suitable for those of you who want to go on a short getaway but want to have a more of a relaxed vacation so not the adventure type vacation because if your plan is to go out more and spend a lot more time outside and you're really only sleeping at the hotel and not um and not spending a lot of time there then maybe it's not really worth spending that amount of money but if you want a really relaxed weekend or a getaway with your with your spouse with your family then then i would say it's worth it to spend a bit more but then you can really enjoy the hotel you get your complimentary water as usual and some cups but again no water boiler so the service was not bad but it wasn't that great either i would say they weren't that fast yeah to be fair at that time i think that the hotel was also understaffed and that what that is why everything took a bit longer but in general i had a good experience with the stuff and again the beds are really really cozy i had a really good sleep here a storage for your jackets and stuff and iron plenty of storage for sure and this is the reverse view it's really on the spacious side so i think that three or four people even could sleep here and it wouldn't feel too crammed but the best part of the hotel and this room in particular is the view the view is really stunning and if you want to see a longer version i'm linking that video up here so you can just click on that later let's get to the location so the location of this hotel the marriott falls view hotels hotel and spa is really strategic note that in niagara there are two married hotels so make sure that you're booking the right one so the one that i stayed at that i showed you just now is this one it's a niagara falls married falls view hotel and spa i know the name is confusing it's so easy to just mix that up with the other one and that one is located closer to the falls whereas the other marriott hotel is a bit further down here and it's the niagara falls marriott on the falls it's so confusing and um i haven't stayed at this hotel yet but the reviews are also pretty good so maybe i'll try this out another time the hotel rates are slightly lower but it's not much of a difference maybe 20 to 30 dollars cheaper than the false view one but of course depending on your budget that could still be a lot of a difference so let's talk about price how much the hotel rate was and some tips i could give you for booking a room here so i would say definitely try and book in advance and try to look for low seasons because if you book a room here um i don't know in june july or um over the new year then it will definitely be much more expensive we were very lucky to get a really good rate for this hotel at that time was during the pandemic it was low season and all in with tax and fees we spent 150 dollars per night so for two nights we spent 300 and in general it will be usually cheaper if you book a hotel room for a longer time let's say two to three nights compared to just one night and i just recently checked the rates again and it seems that currently in march april um the rates are a bit higher so you need to expect to pay around 200 including tax so that is not so cheap so if you're really watching your budget but at the same time you want to have a bit more of a luxurious experience then i would really recommend you to look for cheap rates far in advance so as i told you earlier i and my husband we spent almost 600 in total for our whole getaway of two nights and three days and the hotel alone cost us 300 and it's not something that we do often but once in a while and if there's a special occasion we like doing this because it's it's just a different kind of experience most of the time when we go traveling we prefer to rent an airbnb especially if we go for a longer time because then you can also cook some food so is it worth it or not personally i think it was really worth it but again it makes more sense if you're really planning on staying in the hotel a lot just relaxing enjoying the hotel but if you're not that much at the hotel but you're outside most of the time then it makes less sense so anyways if you're planning on staying at this hotel here's a short summary of my advice for you so first of all make sure that the room you book is at least on the 8th or 9th floor and that you book the one that faces the fall so it's the false view and not the city view also book your room in advance so that you can make sure that you get the best rate and also arrive and try to check in slightly earlier than the standard check in time because otherwise as you see in this um clip here this is how it will look like people are queuing up and then you will wait for quite some time we were already checked in so we could just relax and
