[Music] hi guys take James here in this video I will show you guys how to install retroarch onto your Nintendo switch valleca and you can actually play plenty of different roms including PlayStation 1 game boy advance and many other cool consoles so what you guys want to do first it's just how the power button on a Nintendo switch until what this menu comes up and when it comes up go to power options and just go to power off so now uh Nintendo switch is just powered off fully we can now remove our SD card and just connect it to a PC right over on your computer the link tool retroarch will be in the description of this video so all you guys want to do is go to the download tab and you want to scroll down and we are looking at for a Nintendo switch so I've actually released retroarch on a few new devices now so this is actually pretty cool and here is the Nintendo switch version so we can download the NRO file which will be launched off the homebrew menu or we can download the NSP file so we can actually install it so I'm just gonna get both just to show you guys what to do of each one so let's just so oh yes so if you do get the NSP version it says you might be banned if you've got internet running I don't run it anyway so I'm just gonna click OK and now it will start downloading you need to download both anyway because we do need to copy the data folder at 40 NSP file okay so once both of the files have finished downloading you will need to get both because the data inside of this one but just click on the cross go it to your pieces downloads folder where I go so in your downloads folder the NSP file can just go on the root of your SD card because I can install that I'm with my sx os custom firmware so once you've copied that across you can now delete it you can always just check it's on there and here is my 1 next we want to go inside the 7-zip folder now we want to drag out these two files into our downloads folder so once those files have finished copying across to your PC go inside of the switch folder first and you will find the NRO valve now basically what this file is is the file that you will see are sort of on the homebrew menu so you can just launch off that now if you have s X OS you can put this on the root of your SD card if you have Rennicks or he kate or whatever it's called you put it inside of the switch folder so since i have s x OS and on my nintendo switch right now i'm just going to drag and drop this on the roads so here is my one and then obviously if you do need to put it in the switch folder it's just this folder here you literally just drag and drop it in there you can see I've already got some other ones in here now we need to copy across the retroarch data folder so this is basically all the assets and stuff for virtual are just server at loads so just drag and drop that onto the root of your sd card now keep in mind this is nearly a gigabyte in size so just give this maybe a few minutes to copy across all right guys so once it's finally done that didn't actually take quite well and I actually failed a few times so it's a bit annoying side to do it probably felt free times but it's finally copied across and 812 megabytes in total so now what we need to copy across the roms that we wish to play so I've got two games here I've got Grand Theft Auto advance for the Game Boy Advance and I've got our Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter 4 and a playstation 1 so I'm going to create a new file right here and just call it roms just exactly like that and it is press Enter now I'm going to go into the roms file and create another folder all capitals call it GBA that's for my Game Boy Advance game and I'm gonna create a create another one for my ps1 game and just call it ps1 so let's drag our roms into the roms folder let's put a ps1 game inside the ps1 folder and a Gameboy game inside the game boy advance folder so now we can do is copy across our roms folder to our retroarch folder so just drag and drop it across now obviously the PlayStation 1 game is quite large in size so that's gonna take a while to copy across so I'm just gonna give this another 5 minutes and then it's gonna say one minute so yeah this should be finished soon right so now that has done it copying across we now have everything on unintended such SD card though it could possibly need so he can now disconnect ice-t card from up here so you put it back into our Nintendo switch and I will show you guys what's do next I so back off our PC we can now connect our micro sd card back into a Nintendo switch and now we can boot into our custom firmware okay guys so just on my SX eyes fam where I'm just going to boot into the custom firmware so let's just go on to new Nintendo switch and let's open up the album so if we press write just to go to the Installer we can find retroarch on here so we can press on a and then press a again if we want it on a micro SD card or we can change it to internal storage if we press X and let's just go system Sarge I should have asked of micro SD and let's just press a to install now it's going to start installing and no it's going to be a percentage down there as you can see it still is very fast and we can just press ok a4 ok or X to delete the file so I'm just going to press a now also if you go right again to your home brew you can find it on here and you can launch retroarch just off the homebrew menu so we're just going to close out this because I just want to launch it off the home screen you know like you would normally so let's just press a I'm just to launch it up so once retroarch loads up just like this and you're probably wondering how to load a game so what you would do is go down to load content and just press a I'm not going to make this into like a full actual tutorial I've actually done that on my PC before and it's pretty much the same so I'm just going to keep it basic in this video and the scroll down and you're looking for this sort of icon right here so just press a on that now scroll down and you're looking for the retroarch folder so mine is right here press I own it now you're looking at for your roms folder it should be somewhere here here is my one press a and now you can find Gameboy Advance and PlayStation 1 let's go of Game Boy Advance first so just press a on it and here we have Grand Theft Auto advance so press a on your rom and now you can choose the emulator you wish to load a web so there's two pretty good ones em GBA or VB next color people for the EBA next says press a on that and hopefully our game will be loading so you go to the game just loads up and it's running fine now this does have sound as well and it's fully playable and I can use the options and stuff like that so now let's give it the ps1 game a test so let's just back out of this one now let's just do the same thing load content and but this time we are going to find our our PlayStation 1 game so it's in roms Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter so press a on that now we're looking for our PlayStation 1 emulator here is an pcs X press a on that and this one might take a few seconds longer to load and there you go it loads up like this no it does say and you can have a PlayStation 1 BIOS file for better compatibility and you guys can find one on the internet if you want one but if you just want to play it like this you know you can actually load them up and play it and sound works and everything like that so this is just the basic guide on how to get retroarch working on your Nintendo switch how to install the NSP file and get it working on the home screen as well keep in mind you can use other things to install the NSP file as well you can use the Pokemon quest dev menu you can use tinfoil and there's plenty of stuff you can use you don't just have to use the sx installer like i did but yeah that is pretty much it for this video so if you guys enjoyed make sure to LIKE and subscribe and I will see you guys in the next one [Music]
