welcome back to our colorful happy home this week I'm going to show you guys how I reset our house after I've been out sick and a couple other fun projects we have going on in our house so like I said this past week was a little bit of a rough one because I was out sick for almost three full days and I feel like whenever I am out sick or when the Homemaker is out sick there's a lot of resetting that needs to be done um so that is what I want to show you guys what a typical reset day looks like in our [Music] house the very first thing I wanted to do was get the kitchen clean I had almost entirely neglected doing dishes while I was sick and so they were really starting to pile up and the kitchen was kind of a mess along with a lot of other areas in the house and so I wanted to get a fresh start in the kitchen run the dishwasher get everything put away so that the kitchen could at least be clean the next thing I needed to do was cook the meat that I had laid out before I got sick and we never lay out two things of meat at one time but this particular time we happened to do that and so I wanted to get started on it because I obviously wouldn't want this to go bad in the fridge so the very first cut of meat that we needed to make was a huge chuck roast and I wanted to make this into a stew and so I started by just trimming the fat and then putting it in about one to 2 in chunks and once the meat was cut up I started Gathering all the other ingredients for the stew now I was technically following a recipe for this stew granted I follow all recipes very very Loosely and so in this stew we did one onion a couple stocks of celery some carrots some tomato juice and tapioca pearls which I have never cooked with before so I thought that was kind of [Music] fun and if you are not new to this channel you could have guessed that I was going to make it in my instant pot I swear we make everything in the instant pot it's just the easiest way for me I really really like using it so if it's technically wrong don't tell me because I love that thing um so basically as with all instant Pot recipes you just cut up all of your ingredients and add them all all to the pot at the same time now this was actually my first time making a stew in the instant pot and so I also got to use that setting for the first time and I knew that it would take a really long time for it to cook I think it was at pressure for almost an hour which is a really long time and it took a long time to come to pressure because there were so many ingredients inside the instant pot and so that's why I wanted to get it started in the morning because I knew if I got it started I could start tackling other areas of the home that needed to be cleaned up like our living room just every area of the home more or less gets neglected when the homem maker is out because this is my role and so when I am sick and can't do my roll as well things get left out or fall through the cracks and so the next thing I wanted to do was clean the living room upstairs the stew ended up being incredible and we got to eat it for several meals and so I will definitely be making more stews out of chuck roast in the future a home reset is not complete in my opinion without changing the sheets and doing a load of laundry because that just makes everything feel so clean I always say that if I can get the kitchen clean and I can get the laundry done my house feels so clean and So Fresh So this was definitely a much needed day for just feeling alive again and feeling good it definitely felt really really good to have everything clean and fresh in the evening I needed to tackle the other cut of meat that I had laid out whenever I was feeling more optimistic about the week which was a pork shoulder roast I specifically laid this out in order to make pulled pork sandwiches now we get all of our meat from my sister she Farms cattle pork and chicken and we also get our eggs from her but that makes it to where we can confidently make pork Cuts because we're able to get it from a really really good source for this recipe we needed to trim the fat off the pork shoulder and cut it into three pieces and then we made a spice mix with brown sugar garlic powder cumin chili powder I can't remember all of them but we made a spice mix and rubbed it all over the pork shoulder before putting it in you guessed it the instant pot I've mentioned this in previous videos but I love making recipes like this because for two people it's kind of hard to cook all the time because you really have trouble going through all that amount of food and so with a recipe like this we can make it one time and then have pulled pork in the fridge for a few days and we can have it for lunch with easy sandwiches just put some barbecue sauce and some Co Sal on top of it and you have a really easy tasty lunch you might have noticed the Coca-Cola going into the instant pot with the pork shoulder and I'm not a huge soda person but this recipe was rated so highly on Google that I had to follow it exactly and that is what it called for and I have to say it has been really really good I'm super happy with our unique cut of meats that we made this week they have been really really good and we have been able to get get several meals out of each of them pulled pork sandwiches and beef stew for dinner almost every [Music] day later on in the week I perked up and was feeling really good just back to normal and so we finally tried a recipe that we have been talking about for a long time we have a local pizza place that is so good and they have a fig jam and Pudo Pizza on their menu and ever since we had it for our last date night we have been dying to recreate it on the oi so of course I got the pizza dough going in the morning this particular morning I used instant yeast because I was not on my game enough to use sourdough I love the King Arthur pizza dough for the instant yeast and this time I remembered to add enough water and so the dough ended up being such a lovely consistency I think it was the easiest dough we've ever worked with it rose up really easily and was just so easy to roll out and even just toide and so I'm really really happy with how the dough turned out when I pull dough out of the fridge I always divide it into however many pizzas we were making that night this night it was two and then I cover it with a damp tea towel and let it rise and kind of just warm up a little bit so that it's easier to work with when it's time to roll out during this time my husband usually goes out and lights the oven and I start prepping the ingredients for the pizza now one thing about this particular pizza that is awesome and I talk about this a lot on this channel is that it stands really well on its own without cheese so I can't have dairy and the cheese of choice on this pizza is blue cheese and even when I like not necessarily when I could have dairy but before I realized I couldn't have dairy I didn't love blue cheese anyways and so this pizza is really really good even without the cheese at all which is a huge win in our house so this was amazing and we definitely will be making this pizza again the B base of this pizza is fig jam and it is just the perfect base for a pizza that also has Pudo on it because the Fig Jam the sweetness of the Fig Jam just kind of complement the saltiness of the pudos so so well and so we added the Fig jam and the Pudo and then we also sprinkled on some red onions and some arugula as well my husband thought that a balsamic glaze would be really really good on top once we pulled the pizzas out of the oven and so while he was doctoring up the pizzas I started making albal salic glaze on the stove we popped the pizzas in for a quick par bake and then we took them out to the oi to let them get all crispy and yummy my husband and I both agree that this was probably one of the best pizzas we have ever made and so we will definitely be making this particular flavor pizza [Music] again in Project world around our house I have been slowly working on getting my sewing room all put together painted decorated organized and this week I really needed to work on the most glaringly obvious project which was a curtain for the closet door so we used to have by old doors down there and they constantly fell off the track which was so annoying and so of course I thought okay I can replace the track so I replaced the track and that totally didn't work at all it still fell off the track all the time and so I think it might have something to do with the slope in the wall it doesn't matter basically I decided that we are going to go a different route and do a curtain and I had previously thrifted this king-sized bed sheet in this cute palm tree print that goes perfectly in my sewing room and so I decided to make this the curtain for the closet I debated back and forth on what type of curtain I wanted to make but I ultimately landed on doing a tab top curtain and so I started the project by cutting off a 4in strip of fabric from the the width of the KingSize sheet and then I cut those 4in strips into 8 in sections to basically get 4X 8 in sections of fabric I ended up with 20 of them and so then I took each of these pieces which were going to be the tabs and pressed them right sides together and clipped the tops so that I could take them over to my sewing machine and sew them all just one after the other right side [Music] together once I completed sewing them I turned each of the tubes out I actually use a chopstick to do this which I know is not a conventional sewing tool but I find it works really really well for the shorter fatter tubes to turn them out and then I pressed the seam to the center so the design could be really really pretty on the front of the tab folded them over exact way that they would need to be before I sewed them and got them all pressed and ready to be added back into my fabric when it came to Heming the curtain to length the bottom of the curtain panel already had a finished seam from being the bottom of the sheet and so I actually hemed it from the top which I was a little bit nervous about but it worked out totally fine and once I did that I just laid the full width of the sheet over on my floor and spaced out the tabs as evenly as I could I did not worry about getting them perfect and so I am certain they are not perfect but I figured when they were hanging up in the closet you would not be able to tell and so I got all the tabs pinned onto the curtain the where I wanted them and took it over to my machine and sewed it down and then I actually didn't even use any pens to flip the tabs back up I just took it over to my machine and flipped them up as I was going to get the tabs all back in place and flipped up and that was really it after that the curtain was done and it was ready to be put on the tension rod and back in the sewing room I am so excited because this was previously just like one big black hole in my sewing room and now it is beautiful and pretty and it is so functional and I made it myself which is always very rewarding and fun [Music] thank you so much for trying new recipes and making things with me this week I will see you guys next [Music] time
