people so this historical Urban downhill race about to get underway for the 19th time then been racing here since 2003 and Pedro Burns is on track changing from an Enduro to a downhill bike for 2023 links through there quickly and hard on the paddles now towards the bugattio stairs and we're gonna watch this key section it goes from their wood all the way to the bottom of these stairs so we're going to really be able to see gives the trail bike faster it's down or bike faster look at how close they are to the walls and doubling a lot of those stairs now a lot more speed [Applause] holes have been moved fast through there as well yeah and that's kind of the end of that first technical bit you're gonna see the Riders just really sprinting here from right here you're trying to not touch the brakes dig deep and take a little breather and there isn't any part of this course there is a limited with fans how hard is it to gauge the traction on this tarback I mean that is the other thing because in practice you're not sprinting that much and so you you actually a lot of times overshoot your breaking points especially with the concrete it's really difficult big gap out of there and actually luckily Pedro Burns safely passed the part of the track where a labrador cross nearly took him out last year he actually had to break really heavily which is partly why we saw him finish in 11th place this has been causing major problems the wall riding practice looks like the Riders have got their head around it now interesting um Elliot only two or three practice rounds I mean totally I mean it's not enough it's it's it's totally not enough and you would say well it looks like it's pretty straightforward but like I said the breaking points you can actually hear it when you hear that or we just heard that's him kind of dabbing the brakes kind of want to think about it like an F1 break early lots of speed through the corner and then pedal out as hard as you can down through these painted streets he comes birds are another hazards it seems this year under the wild tale now a little bit of style you can't help yourself and the first Rider is nearly down and towards the pawn Head Road Burns through the flower shop he comes another section and they'll be able to open this year as well Birds Sprints to the lines goes fastest with a 2 and 24.1 that will come down qualifying the fastest time by one for vales at two a twenty Point number six so a good run but uh yeah I think you might have been looking for a bit more yeah we did uh you know it did look like the downhill bike was pretty tiring yeah you know you can see it it's a little bit sluggish uh maybe a little bit safer a little bit more traction but the bottom of the track is really I think maybe where the difference will be made looks like he might have caught up one of those step down so wasn't able to get one of the Devils that he wanted to but Thomas Slavic tells us you know the way the track has been awkward very very slightly with just a little bit more room for the Rider series expected it to be three to five seconds quicker a 220 in qualifying that still doesn't actually beat last year's race time winning Pedro ferrera's winning race time of a 2895 the injured her throw Ferrera if you just joined us he is not starting a day out with a broken wrist okay back to the top we go there [Music] so this guy on a ninjuro bike less travel steeper angles and you can see you can see how rough it is but you can also see how tight he's able to hold the turns be able to kind of muscle it around a little bit easier let's see what these stairs yeah and here you know a downhill bike would afford you the luxury of maybe a little bit of error you have to be so precise while sending a massive Gap in there that is not where I want to be whipping out at only points three four back then on Pedro Burns at the moment [Music] one of the things I went through that that dirt and that dust and then go right back onto the uh the concrete to pay attention though to your tires and you know you can see there on the edge of the track on the edge of the tarmac excuse me just how loose the dust is you don't want to be getting into that yeah no sub Riders will use the curbs as berms foot out into this big right hand up these turns here I mean look it's like rather's been in the wrong gear carrying speed right they all add up yeah I think you know the way that you kind of want to approach the turns here is you have to be still you're not going to see a lot of movement like you would but he's right there pulled back a tenth is that because the Enduro bite now start to come into its own I think this is kind of where we see we saw a little bit of a pedaling section here so but after this wall ride let's see let's see if he's got the fitness to uh stand up this whole time it's a big pickup off the top of the cool runner powered down through the streets then parked cars everything one year you can come in a Van's park there one year you come and it's like a Honda Civic smart cars like oh yeah the track's way easier yeah it's true right so many things that affect this rice part and pass [Music] away it goes green then by 0.14 yes he does wow so a great run then for this man a sec making his way down here and it's gonna be a good time looking like he's gonna go fastest yeah it really able to to get a lot of power there thank you [Applause] [Music] great run he does go fast it's 223.8 now the time to beat then he could be happy with that Pedro Burns leaving the hot seat yeah it took off a lot of time from his qualifier as well yeah I mean man I only want to do one fast run down one of these tracks as well you only did oh that's true I'm out of cruise man I don't blame you here's the stairs we see that this this cruising his his handlebar was about three inches and his back tire was about three inches but it is so much about carrying that speed who has the nerve to Pedal as hard as you can and then uh and then try to hold it through these flat turns yeah [Music] series two more races to come we've got a meddling in Columbia in about three weeks time before we finish things off in Mexico towards the end of March and the next man in the gate from the UK Lewis Buchanan and a lot of talk about this man's helmet sponsor actually coming in the rest he mounted the internet with it I heard about that yeah who didn't but a great racer A 12th at Red Bull hard line and he's actually had a lot of experience on the ews circuit too and he's on the downhill bike so another one of those Riders that's that's using the down or bike I know he's fit so I'm interested to see how how he does down here at the bottom gaps there for minolathan in Scotland an amazing an amazing down there actually in the junior days and just eight hundreds off then so definitely in touch at the moment yeah definitely like you're saying he's one of the more skilled riders that we have in the in the sport remember watching him back in uh about a solely when I first started racing he was doing a couple gaps that I nobody else was it was don't forget Elliot as well you know this is lit is literally probably his third his third fourth run it's his first time in Valparaiso yeah so he is learning as he's riding here much different than a World Cup you're a race run your final World Cup Final Round it's probably your ninth maybe tenth run here you're going as fast as you can uh trying to dodge new things and trying to trying to go as fast as you can on this run probably your fourth third or fourth run but picana weekend losing some serious time then between splits one and two yeah it looks like you know on these uh these slight bins looks like he's breaking up just a little bit and I think like we talked about it's really the exit speed that we're looking for oh picks it up big over that step down a lot of people went down there in practice no problem food Buchanan no you know the cheering is so much different here you hear people going whoa you don't hear the chainsaws and stuff like that that we're used to think in these turns though looks like he might have uh is that a tear in his in his pants might be a might have gone down oh you might be yeah it's possible that will happen on concrete we'll point two back though losing another couple of seconds there as well but you know first time here it's a valiant effort just to take this thing on as you well know [Music] ing hey baby Lisbon Lisbon all right you're Lisbon was my area Okay Okay race that once they didn't know they wouldn't let me come back the cannon across the line he goes third 4.3 back yeah I mean when you look at the starting line the starting list you have people who have been here 11 12 times you kind of forget that this race has been going for you know over 15 years yeah it's mad isn't it yeah exactly this is that first bit coming through the house [Music] new proof yeah you got this year there yeah it's huge the Bismarck Square and you can really see like how much the suspension takes up you know your pedals your pumps all the inputs that he's putting into the bike you can and actually Shaker the head as he across the light now man it's it's a hard race no matter who you are sprinting for over two minutes isn't it yeah that's right as well as riding possibly the gnarliest sections you've ever pointed your bike at totally as fast as you can with no practice Yeah Yeah Gonzalo loving the top step with the uh the hot seat yeah well the next man is from Ecuador a 228 in qualifying for this job multiple National Champion a powerful ride on really hard on those pedals straight out of the gate there yeah Mario great Rider and on a downhill bike he's used that to some sex success here excuse me in the past see him actually uses his legs a lot like you have to you have to use your legs to make sure that you don't get out of shape not getting that last little step down I hope it looks like it's narrower towards the bottom [Music] section actually we can see that Gonzalo is in the in in first on the trail bike so we haven't seen a downhill bike take the uh take the this part on track that we won't expect nearly a second into the red then for Mario Jared [Music] 20's pedaling pretty good yeah 23 years old tucking few places I mean that we'll make a difference you do need a safe tomorrow goes wide there and you can see how loose is as well we have to give it to win he did say off the racing line through well it's kind of a you you see you want some type of support right like when you see the curb it looks like you want to dive into it because otherwise you're just turning on flat just losing a couple attempts between sectors one and two and I think right there is actually one of the key sections on the track because as soon as you come around that if you cannot touch the brakes too much it's your speed all the way through the rest of those wow wow wow you're not carried on there and believe me it could have been a lot worse a big moment there the suspension gets compressed in that big wall ride and then just spits the rider out in uh well any shape it feels like really well I I think it's crazy because it's so big that you kind of want to set up kind of dive down a little bit and use go straight into it and when you do that the turn is wanting to push you left and you're trying to pull right so you end up getting this rebound the tire goes the opposite way of what you would think yeah yeah yeah you can see him kind of try to turn down and then got bucked right off the top well I'm gonna say an amazing bit of Rod is just to save it really it could have been a lot worse for sure wow so Mario jaron's run is over [Music] the crowd loving it of course once a year that fella gets to step out of his front door on a Sunday he doesn't go anywhere else he's in his doorway he can't go for a few hours oh man I mean we see it we're getting to actually see some of this really cool street art yeah it is uh it's pretty amazing you kind of look at the even the stairways look up the stairs you see art on the stairs so vibrant so much color in a lot of these South American cities so we're waiting for Mario Jaren to come down I might have um gone around a wall ride in my run I wasn't trying to win I wasn't trying to cheat uh trying to survive yeah and I might have got booed actually what I would have booed as well revelation after Revelation coming out here this afternoon yeah yeah I was like I gotta I've made it this far I have half a run [Music] next man then to leave the star Hut here coming down towards this first tight then left left hand and then right-hander immediately actually able to get the bike turned in the air there pretty cool not easy though at all let's see how he does on this key section first one's all good gets a good pump in 31 years old from Chile this man she's gonna keep the wheels on the ground yeah no using the side of the track now I'm not sure if he wanted to you can kind of see in 19 seconds was 1.2 back shows you how much risk you kind of have to take in that section yeah one and a half back on the clock then this actually is eighth attempt at this race I mean talk about a glutton for punishment I mean he knows the lines he knows what's up just you know we see these Riders oh wow it goes down caught out this there is a lot of dust on the trip and there was last year they're not only right win Masters said that if you get off the racing line there is gravel you didn't need the Hubble to spot the dust then did you that is true that is shape your own eyes yeah it was I was looking for that dust on wins crash but I didn't see it I think it was there somewhere yeah yeah but that's I mean we joke but that is kind of you're on the edge every single Rider that goes down that looks perfect is about I don't know two degrees of lean angle from yeah from doing exactly that how hard is it to brake on tarmac area you know like tires digging in a lot less spill yeah I always find on tarmac until it slides where very often it's too late it's actually funny because uh a lot of the really really good you know World Cup Riders will will try to like not lock up their brakes in a lot of places and then also we'll be not on the brakes in the middle of the turn and this stuff is forces you to do that so if you lock up the back wheel coming into the into your breaking points you're gonna get off off center and then as soon as you touch the brakes in the middle of the turn you're gonna slide out so yeah it's there's a lot of technique that goes into um into these flat turns it's kind of like you know a a grassy flat turn yeah on steroids I think that's why we see you know literally some full-time street races in South America yeah most namely perhaps Pedro Ferreira you'll see odds crosses the line then goes into fourth place not bad though with that full Big Fork on the front of that bike as well definitely more downhill bikes this year yeah I mean [Music] if you ride a trail bike you are thinking about and really thinking about um carrying a ton of speed and you really it's always a trade-off right like the downhill bike the top speed uh optimal is gonna be better on the dino bike with all the stairs get more traction on kind of the G outs and stuff like that but there's just no way to to match a trail bike with uh on the Sprint oh and you know perhaps more [Music] changing direction too fast here so that would be kind of typically what we would think about on the trail bike there's that little slide out it's but uh yeah I mean I'm I am interested I mean it shows like we were talking about fishbach last year it's really impressive to go that fast on a downhill bike I agree yeah but the crowd's enjoying it straight to the next Rider though another man from Chile Lorenzo guara excuse me 11th in qualifier and respectable his first time racing VCA yeah he's going for it right off the start you kind of you see the Riders landing on flight there you can't really push down getting a nice hit getting set up let's see how he does in this key section [Music] first step down foreign [Music] [Applause] not too far off point eight and that is the family that of uh but there was no peace of quiet for them this afternoon sitting under that roof they might as well be I enjoying it good line off there as well didn't look like he had to break at all in that turn 0.7 back at split number one though it's actually lots more time in that key section than he's back at the first split let's see if he can continue to make up some time oh no the Moto GP soul and no stop here to the turn he was just gonna lay it in that would have been one of the most inside things I've ever seen if he pulled it off Fair Play For Trying let's go you got some point seven to seven back on the main clock oh hey but he's got some skills and he's enjoying himself it's crazier how I mean I think for me a lot of the the writers in South America don't get the exposure that the Europeans or America you kind of see them ride now you're like you can see how skilled they are right these are not just no-name people you know they're super good Pan American Champs Chilean Champs Brazilian Champs oh yeah and the scene in South America South America is absolutely huge mountain bike is blowing up South America has got over 700 000 following exactly it's not that many World Cups regular racism any more than that but if you just joined this Pedro forever the two-time winner in this race is out a broken wrist in his last practice run Slavic Thomas Slavic the three-time four cross world champion and twice winner of this race has had a big crash left the site in an ambulance after his last practice run he's damaged some ligaments in his ankle but he did qualify third and he will be started to die so let's see what what he can do it's not over yet for Thomas Slavic whoa I'll show you what a leg out there [Applause] after that crash [Music] it's definitely a very different atmosphere to the races we normally call it's brilliant for sure I mean it feels cool man like he's to have that many cheers going look at that look at that family that's so cool I don't blame him for uh doing a little nose really there sorry but I like you can't just I thought he was gonna manual off the end of that he probably was thinking about it [Music] spectacular run so Ted a ride is to go fill out wheel your next Rider as we look at the current standings 0.3 of a second in it 223 the fastest time though still three seconds out of the far outside the fastest qualifier and really Elliot the only thing that would stop this race be quicker than that qualifying run I guess would be the wind which does look to be up yeah we don't know how the wind is there but you're actually right like if you get depending on which way it's blowing um it can come through those corridors if it's if it's a sidewind you know you are pretty protected but it is but if you had a headwind blowing up here up here it's it's it's crazy yeah you were sure a ton of time and that's one of the trade-offs that you'll see Riders make a lot of time or most of the time I would say these caliber Riders when they start pedaling uh it's not because they're too tired there is a threshold where you actually need to start tucking um because you standing up you're almost pedaled out and it's actually faster to tuck than it is to Pedal so that it also shows kind of how fast these you know bottom of the track is okay so a break short breaks it's before the top 10 drop in here fans are loving it Pedro top three at the moment Pedro Birds [Music] squashing all these jumps good run those Dyno bikes at that top okay well we're going to be hearing from some of the Riders now we're not okay classifications [Music] well I'm here with Gonzalo and he says that he's very happy with the results as his first time classifying and also his first time in the hot seat so he's very proud he has a crush while he was practicing so he's very happy with the results today okay well so he should be 223.8 leading at the moment yeah I mean I think it's fascinating that you hear that right I've been I've been practicing on Urban and that is you start let's fill out we'll be the next up as we go to the top 10 Matthias Nunes watch out for that man Lauren the big hope for France Sanchez he'll be fast this afternoon Slavic riding with a damaged ankle we're not quite sure if that'll slow him down Lucas borba before Juan for Velez The Colombian the man of the day really can he pull it off can he take the winner at his second attempt yeah man he had a crazy top split super super super fast just outside of London in the UK now residing in Greece actually fill that will on track a man who can on a bike so many skills I don't know what he's going to make of this though this afternoon really good through there it was fast wasn't it let's see what we got he pulled it through there and he spread it hard into there we would expect him to be good the key section now or down hilly pump it down there it's aggressive for that will smooth as well a little bit wow it's fastest button in his second point seven fulfill that will use that little uh little piece of wood to stop it from going off of the roof this is inspired riding for the man who's literally had three or four practice runs maximum here today they're gonna put up and he can pedal he is a fit guy is that right yeah with all his skills you don't assume that he really takes care of that ride so much right getting the tuck on trying to get small oh and he slides there that corner is much much harder than it looks well he's lost some serious time there and you want to as a rider come in super faster in race mode but it's actually faster to break earlier let it roll through the turd still in the green no so still the advantage at Wills oh whoa I keep oh he goes off the side there takes the wide alive and jumps back onto the well that look passed away re-enter the track look at this guy he is pushing hard down here he's probably the only one that's been walking the track looking for those lines we've got World Cup experience but he is one of the most creative riders in World Cups that's right he's creating something down there this afternoon a big mistake still fast as a split number two the next clock it's gonna tell us more oh another mistake there a little dab hard at this point you just have to say okay I've got a bucket as fast as I can try to avoid a flag then he's back up to a point seven eight Advantage then now Enduro bike for fill out well on the wild tale and now you might as well just bury yourself and pedal as hard as you can down to this Finish Line but it's looking like fill out well it's gonna go fast as he's hurting he hasn't got anything left to Pedal I have the flower shop he comes in now we'll go fastest new leader of Valparaiso 223.5 three of a second up good run yeah cool round excited but still nowhere near that qualifying time yeah it's pretty amazing right like taking three seconds off a run like that well don't feel that way you can be proud of that for a first attempt at Red Bull Valparaiso said our battle look at that whoa yes one of those things I don't see them during the run I've seen during the replay yeah I saw them and that that really cool it was that and it was uh wins wins wine I guess I'll call it yeah yeah sure [Music] so for that will be taking his place in the hot seat as we go back to the top for Matthias Nunes ninth in a qualifying for this man [Laughter] what can you do right as aggressively as you can into the most gnarly set of stairs on planet Earth look at this [Music] sixth year in 2020. I had a third year before that you won't be doing that today though with a mistake and he takes the win in the key section and he's only 0.15 off on the main clock incredible so the risk giving him some reward there it's probably because he couldn't break because he was with the bars well I think it might be that yeah heading all the way through these turns as well looking him right up over the front of the bike sprinting a long way down this straight yeah let's see if we can get this one's turn gonna do clean oh using every inch look at the pavement as well I think he'll lose a little bit of time right here because of that you've got to be accurate as well as quick right that is a that is a really cute the second into the green there point five four for this man wow I guess that was on still on a downhill bike as well two-timer with two times a winner of the man is Ali's Urban down illness fellow he'd love to step it up and take one here in Valparaiso nice lovely across that Gap like so many of these South American Riders it doesn't seem to stop peddling anywhere I know everyone has got so much Fitness where did I get this energy from I mean a bunch of the uh I know the Colombians are living at pretty high altitude so but we're at sea level here yeah we're moving shorts yeah you're right what do I know about it yeah all right let's move on he's pulling back time I I'm really those those two turns I think are actually really really key that we saw Phil make the two mistakes in yeah I agree with you totally they're flat aren't they yeah you know you've got to carry speed through it and you've got a long straight after them so it should be green is this map crosses the line net Here Comes nudes What's it gonna be 222.2 1.3 up at the line soonest leads Red Bull Valparaiso don't want to run from him silly in the hot seat the crowd loves that one that is us and then I mean it's crazy this is the this track and then Urban races in general uh it's kind of one of those go slow to go fast if you will oh yeah I see that I remember watching Marcelo Gutierrez Marcelo is just so precise on the bike you almost never saw him as soon as he got locked in he was perfect see if we can take him whoa whoa whoa he did well control that to regroup and to carry on at that pace amazing well I've pinned it to here I might as well just keep going yeah nothing will happen to my arms if I crash but it's that one run mentality isn't it like nothing really matters if you don't make it to the bottom who cares like we said this is this is the thing I mean it is so big right there for especially for a South American Rider you're on the opposite side of the world to you know all the World Cups there's so many fans here such a big deal for all the sponsors and it certainly is okay Gabrielle Giovanni next then from Brazil a former National downhill champion from that country Ramen in his first turn short travel bikes you can see them on the stairs yeah not being as comfortable as the downhill bike and you kind of have to just let it let it eat there's no really smooth way especially in that first section here you're really trying to get some Downs downsides but on that first set of space look on the key section but it's split number one by point one two interested let's see how he let's see how he goes here interested to see how this trail bike goes and remember you know he's great at split one the top half of course suits the downhill better yep there's no doubt about that now he could really he could really capitalize on that bike he looks really strong look at him only seven left at the top now this man sprinted down towards this difficult right hander and he's perfect through that yeah it's really good linking them no drama yeah you don't like it's one of those things for you he's on the edge of traction that is all you could do there and there he goes faster 0.4 is Advantage now oh no that I would say about perfectly at wheel taking a very different line to everyone else there right around the outside Giovanni I'm loving these like arcs and the turns itself he has everything's really really good yeah paddling hard everywhere he needs to as well some Riders actually post involved probably a good idea you're exhausted down here and you can see yeah but I think you should probably be standing up easy said yeah sure sat here I am I am sitting down right now they should be stood up hey it's looking good though but the advantage goes the other way now then still in the green but only by 0.16 shows that the downhill bike can be fast at the bottom it will carry speed right yeah yeah that's right and this is looking like it's going the wrong way for giovanini looks like he's losing a little bit of power yeah he looks exhausted the Nunez really strong at the bottom What's it gonna be [Music] [Applause] your legs just feel like they're on fire still a good run in the second place Nunez still leading now really smooth run it looked really good he had all these flat turns really good that's kind of what you want to see that the pressure of the event get to him you know what I mean it was controlled yeah I mean I think one of the reasons why we're seeing maybe a couple more mistakes than we normally would is like I said you're not sprinting as hard as you can in practice so your breaking points end up changing and you kind of have to adjust in the moment yeah I mean I guess for most of the Riders practice is going to be kind of dominated by having the right speed yeah for the obstacles yeah not particularly worried about the pedaling in between right there's everything on a race run right it's true like you would want to you know everyone's kind of thinking about their shifting points saying okay I need to shift up here shift down here but you're definitely not giving it 100 oh another Rider from Chile then Alberto Nicholas the next man [Applause] he had a big crash not here actually but on the Bugatti stairs which are coming up next ended up underneath his bike here in 2022 doesn't look like uh it's slowing him down any Gap in there at least he knows what not to do now smooth though really smooth whoa drifted down there no problems this year 1.6 back seventh in the key section 1.2 back though losing a massive amount of time it is so tight I was kind of I was just looking at how close his bars are through that house through the through the stairs it's JoJo up against the curve there nearly the pedals on the anchors hard for this one not bad at all they are key turned yes boring as easy as they look and you you really it's one of those ones that you really have to sacrifice uh you have to sacrifice that first one for the second one yeah the first one you don't really need that much exits before crowd absolutely love it at the volume on site 1.7 that could split two though Nicholas it is so wild to come down a run like this with so many people screaming your name elbows almost hitting phones it's incredible I mean you know the atmosphere there's nothing like it right because most races you can't get this close no no no I mean look at it there's actually fans on the track I mean yeah because yeah most of the races right like you would have tape right here that's right [Music] I love it a real spectacle he's pulling back time yes yeah well spotted 1.2 back then maybe it was just that those stairs that mentally wanted to get through them and then I'll be amazed if you can find 1.25 seconds before the fight but he's having a good go peddling right up to this right hand up for the last drop Nicholas the time goes outside he goes into third nearly a second into the red really good bottom there as soon as he got past that first little bit landed on the line maybe that was a bit of a plan get through that top and then be be smooth fast and strong so seven Riders left to go here Matthias nearly there is leading with that 222 giovannini 0.4 behind him Alberto Nicholas in third just saw him come down fill out wheel goes to Fourth and seven ago and whilst we watched this replay I think we could talk a little bit about the next man Adrian Loren Lauren excuse me the Frenchman has been putting everything into this race as we said with parted up with Slavic Thomas Slavic Barcelona with endless new possibilities for training I quote unquote it's the last thing that I want is to find endless Urban trading possibilities [Music] it's not good for Life preservation is it well I mean we've we've seen Adrian at the at the crank Works World Tour and he is super strong on these trail bikes you know being able to win something like like A-line and slalom and stuff like that it's pretty and 16 qualification and Thomas Slavic telling me just before the race but this is the man he feared most this time he said he's absolutely slid into that did that cost him any time do you think I think he did that on purpose you do yeah wow this uh key section he comes wow you can see it the compressions are hard he's going so quick and he is faster by over a second to split number one and quickest but High goes down he just clipped something but that's how hard he was pushing oh wow yeah he was just he just had his wheel turned just a little bit too much I mean good grief oh second up you can tell how hard he was pushing yes it was Unreal yeah you could see the white I mean it's it's slapping it's straight down that's actually the woman that owns the house there so has to see it get it up and close with the race itself there yeah Adrian nice enough to stop and say hello most people are like yeah you're gonna Airbnb your house no no I think I'm just gonna let him go through it [Applause] [Music] [Applause] racing and also the frustration yeah I know one run forward makes it incredible but it's also the most annoying sport in the world it actually is hey no dogs yet no that's true yeah I had a farm now but not on track so far I saw I definitely saw a couple in practice [Applause] get definitely a bummer for around this is like you were saying super super important to him [Music] it suits him really well with these trail bikes with the power [Music] well Adriana was looking like today Father Can up on that curb there on the inside that was interesting but you know it's a three round series we're going to see a bit more of him at the next one the medal in in Colombia it's only three weeks away now but he's the complete package the former king of kraftwer silver to Thomas Slavic at the forecast World Championships last year you know he can he can do it at all I was I was so impressed at crankwicks when he was going for his title that he was able to keep up with some of the downhill Riders on on these short travel bikes like the mental strength that you have to have to do that is just crazy yep [Music] I used to die didn't work out for him he goes in a tenth place thankfully uninjured though [Music] you kind of have to just reset and be like okay I'm disappointed but I mean what can you do I'm alive I have to fight another day tried my best [Music] if you've just joined us the first of three races in the cello series it's our Victor there actually the course designer he uh been doing this course for for years and it's and it just seems to get bigger and bigger let's take a look at this this is that first little bit you could you can see because he like his hips are totally ready for it nothing out of shape here's that crash his crash where he was that oh my I mean is that just how hard he went down I don't know what you're supposed to do because you you guys are not quick you almost need to pick the front yeah that's what I was gonna say like you would you would normally pick the front up but then you need to turn so it's like stop yeah yeah right like he's on the front brake and so yeah that was that was literally him as hard as he you know pushing everything to the limit so Nunez leading point four off so again tight racing here in South America the top three all on the second fill out well we can be proud of that his first time here it's uh it shows you the depth of talent right yeah like it's no it's no joke well fill out William fought her you know twice he's been on World Cup podiums you know that's how good these South American Riders are as you said don't underestimate them absolutely not don't underestimate the next one that's for sure just because they can't get to uh the year doesn't mean there's not Talent there third place yep third at the moment 0.9 back Alberto Nicholas from Brazil Gabrielle giovannini really good ride for that man as well point four off this guy but he's leading at the moment yes the down all by so strong I think okay let's hear from our leader now um [Music] gracias well we're here with mati Nunez who says that he is very happy with his results and feels that the support of the Chilean fans really motivates him to keep pushing harder but who knows what's going to happen because we still have the five Last Riders to go yes we do and it's Camilo Sanchez you're gonna see next another man very much tip for the top today another man very capable of the win as is a gertos Slavic injured borber and then fellas will be the last drop and we've been talking about these five oh all weekend well to me it feels not no disrespect to anyone who's already been down but it does feel to me like the wind will come from one of these five Riders I mean on paper it will right I mean for sure I think it is one of theirs to win so Camilo sad says that from Colombia fourth last year in his very first attempt went deep straight out of the gate there he's trying oh stalks there around the edge of those stairs as well this is an aggressive run this this will end up pick it up an aggressive run he's pushing so hard out of the gate there Laurent still the fastest in this key section Sanchez is risking it all out two points are you joking that's not humanly possible oh my goodness me 2.9 up in the fast flip up against the barriers there as well everywhere oh that's how much it means to these riders in South America if you can keep this up look at it paddling without running the Drone into this heart right hand it's caught a few Riders there already doesn't set up too wide lovely through there a couple of big power strokes in the middle as well looking good 2.8 and split one split two it could be even more it is 3.2 now this is insane from Camilo Sanchez the Colombian known as Poquito Hey Olivia aggressive where he needs to be one Red Bull monster at last year signaling himself was one of the big names in street racing on a downhill bike on a stunner and zero bike today look at this just 21 years old and only his second time here earlier this is mind-blowing stuff able to just lock into these Corners you don't want to see a whole lot of movement here uses that curb on the outside was it shifting up and it's just gonna and it's just gonna pedal as hard as you can lose it a little bit of time yeah 2.7 now lost half a second there between spits two and three [Music] what's he got left in the tag for this drag race down to the Finish Line it all comes down to just how hard he can pedal now [Music] surely he's gonna go fastest it's gonna be pretty tight here he comes then Sanchez takes the lead to 19.9 2.7 of the green what a run from that man what a run fast this time we've seen all week the top of that run was outrageous that's the worst that was actually outrageous it was right from here look how deep he goes off the first step but I I it's so impressive that he was able to actually you know anchor in and then start to I think he was a little bit wild once he got to those bears but he was able to Reign it in and get those flat turns really really good I think Nunez just super fit those Chilean fans and also you know that was a 2-19 .9 around a second off excuse me I was looking at last year's winning time so the first man to go under the qualifying time of 220 set by Juan favelas these are the top he's gonna know that okay new fastest time of the day as well then for Sanchez there's Philly but gerto now makes his bid for Glory in Valparaiso threaded through there quick was able to get get through that really nice get that back tire swung around carrying good speed down these stairs oh he's right on his side Penny Gathering back up he couldn't have missed time that any worse he did well to survive that 2.2 into the red not surprising after that I mean only 0.5 off a second but but Sanchez is at 1.3 up within 10 faster than everyone else absolutely crazy second here in 2019 Philly pagato just 22 years old spreading hard again [Applause] we know there's time to be made up down here runs a little bit wide but catches the curve so bounced off it yep a bit of a little quick puffer dust there he's gonna do well though to pull 2.2 back takes it down to 1.9 to the second split that does tell you then that perhaps you know Sanchez's time can't be beard I think so I think he wrote he wrote that top part incredible but I definitely think down here even though yeah and I mean it doesn't look like there's much to it but I think like you said you have to Pedal because the straights are just so long yeah right like if you're one person off you're one percent off for 30 seconds yeah that's right and crucial to get these carry Spade through these tarmac turns yeah you've got to be on the edge of your tire pushing the grip to the absolute limit but not over it missing the gravel that win talked about wow look at that they're just point five off now then for a Gerta pulling back yeah are we gonna see it fast this time momentum is definitely with him this is incredible I wrote him off at the top yeah he pointed back to be honest he's just riding so good but he's definitely showing us that Sanchez time is beatable that's for sure oh What's it gonna be then we've been hearing about this dude all day here we go again comes down in the line it goes in a second just 2100 self in the end wow so close pulling back over two seconds that's blow my mind but that means that if anyone's in touch it's split one or two with Sanchez he could be involver right now right like you would say that the optimal time is actually two seconds faster than what we've seen so far so it'll be interesting to see if we see these last three go get close to it well settle yourselves everyone it's not over here there's three Riders to go Velez Lucas and of course the next man to leave the top is Thomas Slavic the two-time winner of this event his big rival Pedro Ferreira broke his wrist in the last practice run Slavic also went to hospital to get his ankle checked out it's ligament damage can he take the pain from one round here this afternoon can he deliver his third win in Valparaiso that is going to be the question is at this point the pain has set in things have stiffened up yes this is all about the overall of the series but he's gonna give it everything he has this is his toughest guy I know I'm one of the strongest we know as well when it comes to the pedaling and the skills three times four cross world champion and Slammy contract slips in there a little bit picks it up though this is going to be the hard part for him all these compressions [Music] getting these stair dabs right on the top 1.4 back though losing one point in just that key section so he's still in touch yes this is right where he wants to be because we know how strong he is on the pedaling yeah exactly Elliot up up almost a second so we could definitely see him take the top time here why look at him you can see the way he just turns those cracks it up yeah he spins gears outline no other super experience so he's gonna try to hit these turns yes really good that was nice through there couple of turns in the middle comfortable with this tired sliding he didn't rush those turns this is that second this is where and now he takes it down to point nine so slapping kind of run and now the bottom of this course will sue him more especially today when he's riding injured if he can get if he can get a top three here that's a massive win for him yeah I agree although the win is the only result he wants a massive win right off the top of the wall right there and gets those incredibly powerful pedal Strokes in right up again so using every Mill back end just looking like it's sliding there a little bit as well [Music] okay so this this is where I want to see what is gonna what is the time gonna be and he's not by 1.6 slapping doing the damage I think he's going to take even more time out I agree it's the drag race now and this man's a V8 watch out so Slavic it gets too large he's gonna go fast is Eric Valparaiso look at that everyone else losing power down there he's still just drinking two wins is eight for ten Town comes down to the fastest look at the time 216.8 a massive three seconds into the green a phenomenal run not what he expected today Slavic lays one down that is a ride two to go and Slavic has done the impossible that is he's going to be he's going to be proud of that he can be super proud of that that was amazing wasn't it yeah crashes yesterday build it bigger crash this morning in an ambulance to hospital and here he is back and putting the pain behind him for one run you can tell his legs crazy yeah they actually do is it gonna be number three for Thomas Slavic here in South America in Valparaiso look at that what counter steering on a roof man that was inside look how perfect we're talking about that and they're pretty sure these these races that have had so much experience Slavic over the last couple years has been doing a ton of street races and he has so many years of experience like you said four across world champion eight time here A whole winter in Barcelona oh my goodness crashing into every staircase he can find and it's paid off uh Thomas Slavic then leads in Valparaiso two Riders to go one Brazilian one Colombian so it won't be a Chile Chilean Rider winning today and the next man and leave the gate will be Lucas first downhill back we've seen in a little bit yeah all the way from Brazil second fastest in qualified as you said earlier back on the downhill bike so he needs to be ahead I would say of Slavic up top really really nice Frisco we haven't seen slide through there that looked really good it's kind of that perfect line that win was talking about in the pre-show 2022 Brazilian national champion 27 years old oh linking it down there he is he is but he's outside savings time to a point two back third on the key section got on that downhill bike and with slavics you know we know how he Sprints he's gonna do well to turn this around now right yeah wow there's definitely room for him to go second I think like he said it's gonna be hard for him to pull it back but he looks super strong yeah and we we know he was able to he was able to beat Simon can qualifying so he's got the legs that's right for a second isn't that much the next split coming up now will tell us a lot more about this mode to progress there between split one and two and he's down no way by half a second oh where did he find that time Ellie I did not see that I did not see that coming I did not and even even sweat out in that turn I think he's just pushing hard I think he's carrying just a little bit more Pace yeah everywhere and the downhill bike perhaps allowing him to do that where oh wow that was interesting what happened there decided Well maybe he had a big crash on that in practice oh yeah I soon clip his foot back in there so whether he was unclipped I think probably and that will have cost him that will cost him a second right I would think so I mean let's oh that's how hard these guys are pushing this is the we'll get to know right here see this next split a little bit outside one point four back so it did cost him around a second and that mistake still definitely in touch for a Podium yes he is but look at that red to green back to Red surely you can't find nearly one and a half seconds on this last rundown to the Finish Line then oh good driver here in Valparaiso keeps up folded stabbing 2 16 this time's gonna go by Lucas Barber crosses the line Second 1.5 into the red with a big mistake what an awesome run now that man's gonna be feeling it one to go what a what a great run he is that was such I'm so impressed like just the way that he was riding that's so smooth so perfect everywhere I think it'll be probably a bit disappointed he had those two mistakes there they're definitely part of the definitely cost him but yeah really good body position everywhere carrying such good speed hard on the pedals oh start to race and it's not over yet one Rider that stays at the top one for Velez [Music] from Colombia can he steal the win away from Thomas Slavic what a what a day what a race this is you know it's funny because the really really exciting Parts would be at the top but it's actually the whole track like the bottom is insane as well okay qualify for one favelas on a track fifth last year is first attempt wow and I don't think he'll pull that back to you I don't know but for a stop surely he's gonna go he's jumping the flat the whole way down here oh oh I can barely watch [Music] oh my goodness me that's insane to be 0.3 up then and he lost us 1.3 in the key section so close to the barrier look at how far he's leaning yeah the Bars were nearly dragging around that left hand then that means he's going to carry great speed lock straight he's gonna need as much energy in the tank as he can have fun this guy yeah look at him ride a bike and slide it down he didn't lose too much momentum right on the edge of traction 1.3 this is absolutely unbelievable dead from vales ah where's he finding the time oh he makes the mistake there that's okay that's why it sure is cost him some Pace though I don't know I don't know who knows he's pushing so hard here this afternoon cleanly off the wall ride more paddle Stokes in oh right up against the barriers as well look at him go he's this is street racing at his very best so good he trusting those tires like no other and again he slides through their feet up you don't even do that on tarmacellia took him a bit to get clipped back in oh one back now then surely Thomas Slavic hides his head in his helmet what's this young man gonna do he's gotta find the sack Cuts up there nicely [Music] [Applause] for the third time in his career wow what a win that was to die for it able to dig that deep that has to feel good he can also see the emotion on Slavic space that's gotta be one of the better wins oh yeah he's ever had balance though my goodness wow what an amazing race that was that had a bit of everything in there earlier didn't it man I've never I've never seen anything like that did you see it he was he was like almost dragging bar in the flat both tires sliding did it doesn't hesitate this kept looking forward I mean it shows the skill that these Urban Racers have now and Slavic as welding well the new generation I mean yeah no but I'm just looking and figuring how interesting it is you know felons on the downhill bike yeah yeah so you know 1.4 Thomas slavic's winning margin it's massive that is crazy and then you go another second and a half back to Third yes big gaps yeah we haven't normally seen that I mean it is pretty amazing to that those those kind of margins on a track this short you know like we said you kind of think of it as being relatively straightforward made the joke in in uh in the pre-show that it's easy down there but that's what we saw most of the the lead changes some Rod is in some bikes yeah middle some others in the bottom others again it's unfolded in a real spectacle yeah it's been amazing to watch and it's Thomas Slavic that has fought through the pain barrier torn the ligaments off his ankle after the last practice run went to the hospital in the ambulance came back qualified shirts still ripped up and turns it on for the final and that's what it means okay let's hear from him what does this win mean to you you have uh you know finally Dream came true so I'm um super stalked and after the whole week uh with the bad luck and today with uh breaking the ligaments in my ankle I was just like like I thought like this possible chance of taking a third win is just like gone and I was already thinking about it next year and stuff and and it was Unreal I did I did a solid round I didn't do a perfect run because I was not able to push at the top of the track so I lost some time there but everything else where I could push where I could do half a pedal stock more I did that and then and uh you know it was crazy to see all the guys pushing so hard that they were doing a lot of mistakes and uh and I knew about it so I kept it more safe and worked out you know really emotional win or you know whenever the the journey is hard then then the victory tastes better so um today tastes real good well you're now the new leader of the spread boots series how are you going to keep the momentum going for the next stop in Marine you know it's a it's a new motivation with Red Bull coming up with a new World Series in urban DH it's like uh it's a dream when we were dreaming for a long time with all the urban Racers and now it happened and uh you know when UCI uh dropped or like they didn't got the deal with Red Bull I mean this is the this is probably the best way for us like to keep on going with the urban races and that's a great chance for us amazing congratulations Thomas well you know a man who's won three four cross World Championships showing us just what it means to win here today yeah tears in his eyes mate I mean the hardest path he could have taken and the best result well like like like you heard him say it Not only was it the fight but he loves this sport you know yeah he does he's 35 years old as well now I mean you know he's quite quite old actually to have as much passion as much energy as much as much drive as he does to still want to win right I mean for sure and I mean like like you heard him say it's being able to ride with all of these all of these dudes in the in the new series is just so cool well there it is then one point for The Gap and yet an incredible run also from Juan favelas I mean second time here he's gonna win it at some point he's got a big future ahead of him Lucas Bulba for Brazil in third Sanchez comes in fourth place but uh what what was that yeah I think that the The Experience definitely showed through you heard you heard Slavic yeah say he kind of took it he went as fast as he could at the top but you know with a hurt ankle you and on those those flat drops but you heard him talk about the mistakes that everyone made and we saw it yeah as soon as you slip out just a little bit on the edge you're trying to push but that's what that that's that experience coming into play where he knows what it feels like to be in the finals of Valparaiso he does third win for Thomas Slavic here and the series lead of Red Bull Salo abahu turbo around Colombian X we finish off in Mexico towards the end of March look at the people there well they were treated to an incredible hey we definitely heard some barking well I mean man there's nothing you can do you're on the edge of traction if you if you see a dog come out I mean we we saw uh who is that that whipped by one last year uh yes maybe yeah I think it was fellas actually okay yeah it's cool to come down actually after the race you get to walk the track yeah I mean it is just a city you can walk down the stairs instead of ride them yeah you please yeah definitely safer but look how many people the whole city came out to watch this afternoon they do they love it you know you when I flew into Santiago I told them I was going to Valparaiso and they said oh VCA VCA even hours away yeah the capital you um they know about this race you only do growing in stature and the legend every year as well 20th Edition next year that's going to be a party yeah wow it's crazy I mean I remember Phillip Polk winning this thing and he won it four times yeah he's the most successful actually there oh this is um next year will be a slavic's chance to uh to tie it up yes that's right well that's right and he'll know that and I mean the uh the battle continues with him and Ferreira for next year it certainly does yeah if you know sounds to me like we're three weeks away from Medlin if and if the rumors are true that he has broken his wrist yeah Pedro Ferreira then I guess we won't be seeing him in action there maybe at the last round tax code no if that's with that stuff in it always depends here is the run from yeah let's enjoy this you can see him kind of nursing even though it doesn't look like it trying to get every Landing perfect down here we saw a lot of people over jumping these stairs Slavic just kind of putting it right on the downsides on these step Downs super smooth though isn't it yeah perfectly accurate there [Applause] yeah [Music] it's been a big weekend for Thomas Slavic it really has [Applause] I can't believe he was able to win like [Music] um [Laughter] yeah these kids are are as big as my like thighs man [Music] yeah but he is he's so experienced you can see just how comfortable he is on the concrete [Applause] yeah and I think that's the other thing is the surface is actually changing right here you're on cobbles up at the top you're on asphalt IES yeah everyone made it pretty safely through uh wins corner there [Applause] I definitely think that that is uh what made the difference for a lot of riders we saw Nunez really putting the power down right here and like we said Slavic just on the gas all the way until he starts to tuck and there's gonna be no better feeling than that for Thomas Slavic to die Against All Odds I think that third place qualified would have probably given him some hope he must have known you know like yeah it's not quite over yet yeah [Applause] went for a 174 this year 160 bite though that ghost biker rides still you know really there's still there's still travel with Duro bikes about as well yeah it doesn't look like that big of a bike I wonder if he rides a small frame or something yeah that's true as well yeah potentially [Music] uh great scenes massive respect for these Riders tweets eat between these Riders there as well they practice together they stay in the same hotels you know it's a yeah yeah yeah at this race I think more than any like you know when I was there everyone's barbecuing together he's kind of chilling out you go eat dinner together yeah it's it does makes it feel like a family and they think that that's why Slavic said this is what we've as Urban race has been dreaming of for a long time to out of this series yeah you know it it brings something very different to Downer races yeah Urban Empire but it's it's a spectacle isn't it it's bad same it's insane I agree yeah it's Bonkers oh yeah I like it I I really can't explain how insane it is I mean no and you've been there you've you've ridden this right you've raced this this race I mean yeah I think like I said but there's no there's no getting away from there's no getting away from the risk involved I mean let's be honest ultimately you know down those staircases you can win or lose it but you'll take in massive risks if you want to win it yeah for sure and I think when we say the risk too it's it's like when you get out of shape maybe at a World Cup maybe you kind of blow through the tape or whatever but if you were to quote unquote blow through the tape you're into a railing yeah totally you're watching tally with the family on a Sunday afternoon no but it's really true yeah very different different Stakes incredible the port of Valparaiso delivers again and we're just waiting actually for the Ceremonies for these Riders who do you think is going to win the next one I'm excited for the next one oh yeah three weeks to the meddling yeah very different course there as well it's gonna be it's gonna be exciting it's much shorter track there so it's intense and uh instead of the stairs being at the start they're at the end oh wow I don't know which one I think I think get them out of the way for me I want them right out of the start like this yeah you're true as well that was that unfolded just beautifully it died and it's a spectacle well we'll see I guess now right like if if the uh if the riders coming out of the gate can can lay down the power and then again either either way you really have to it's a totally different mindset when you're riding stuff like that I remember you know even on a kind of traditional downhill bike downhill track I should say when you have such a large split like that you you physically and mentally have to completely reset yeah yeah yeah people still making their way down towards the Bob do you think is there a I mean is there a chance that we can ever see I mean Lisbon actually was the very original Urban downhill race in Portugal are we going to see any urban racing in Europe in America I mean why not I guess we haven't got the land and we've definitely got laws that are probably stand in Hawaii like I can't imagine like if you had something in America people would be like um what [Music] he's back in a few moments to have a look back at this Amazing Race stay with us we'll see you after the break [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] all right [Music] [Music] okay well welcome back then what a race we've just seen at Red Bull Valparaiso salad I mean the drama started the driver started before Christmas and then ran right through that festive period and into today in massive amounts that race was nuts it was absolutely nuts and that's without you know last year's defending Champion Pedro Ferreira even racing Thomas Slavic taking the win by one and a half seconds after smashing his ankle and going to hospital just before the start I really do I never seen so much drama like you said there was such a lead up like if you were following the Instagrams if you were following Adrian and then Tomas and then forever you could see them training you could see how much this is the opening of the Season yeah new season and then throughout the weekend we just had drama after drama after drama unfold because they're like all of their laser focused it's only on winning this race they don't want nothing else those guys they want to win it the wins all they're interested in I mean yeah it's it's an unbelievable spectacle not just today watching them but also like you say in the practice the training the specific training that now we're seeing for urban Downer I mean this has got legs this is going to grow yeah for sure yeah like we like we said you know all of these rioters they actually love it I think back in the day you were talking about Lisbon and even you know when I was racing Urban downhill it was like okay the focus is on the World Cups but then we're also going to do these races so I never practice I never I never even jumped off a curb in front of my house or anything like that you know and that's going back you know a few years now but you know now you feel like you don't see that you don't see such a big crossover of downhill World Cup down rice is coming but you do see us we're going to go over to the woods you do see very specialists Okay let's listen to the awards now excuse me third place Lucas specific street races are coming so good on the bike well you said it in commentary you know perhaps you don't know as much about these Riders honestly I don't until I start looking at this race because they don't race the World Cup but the skills the one everything's there there are as good as they're European counterparts yeah for sure for sure I mean these these two guys up here now the board on the right Bellows on the left I'm so impressed the way that they could ride the bike yeah you're going to see a lot more revellas as well young man [Applause] that feels good yeah [Music] come on Tommy stop it third win a Red Bull Valparaiso against all the odds today but the one thing that doesn't change for Thomas Slavic is that he always puts absolutely everything not into this race but any race he does and that's why it's been a multiple UCI world champion right yeah I mean he's got so much heart he's so strong he trained so hard he tries so hard yeah he is like the nice the underneath that's right but he gets on the bike and it's like what yeah it does [Applause] Juan Fernando it was an unbelievable ride today wanted to see him take that win and do you feel like that like I guess after putting everything into this race and then that big crashing just literally before the final in some ways that would change his mental approach right I mean to me he's got nothing to lose the pressure would be off a little bit would that helps him potentially I mean it's hard to say right because I think this year he put more into it than he ever had and so on one hand right you crash and it's like okay maybe the pressure's off but on the other hand it's it's devastating right you've been training all off season he's with Adrian right like Barcelona and so yeah I I'm wondering I think that that's why it meant so much to him I've never seen him kind of get choked up like that no I haven't either that's right yeah exactly that and a man who's had a lot of success that one that one struck over wins back we still got wind TV don't you worry and he's going to show us some of the moments from slavic's run that might have made the difference win let's have a look at he didn't he was good around your turn I have to say yeah it was he was very tidy on on the simple turns Rob and uh he definitely didn't let the injury face him but I felt I was pretty impressed with how he hit the wall ride it was almost like like a BMX half pipe you can go back to here we can see like just look at that if if you're going like a normal person would probably be going off there they're not the average Rider and he's going right off the top and then just carrying that all all that speed down into the downrap and I think that was pretty impressive like I didn't see anyone else go that high on the wall right I think we even noticed it in commentary like he lit it was more like a ramp than a turn right you know what I'm any kind of just yeah it was amazing wouldn't it he almost wrote it like a half pipe I think yeah yeah was that because he carried so much more speed in like that he just couldn't go any lower than he did yeah most likely and and maybe if it had gone lower he would have had the problems like the other guys did have on that right there or it threw them off balance so I think that was making the difference one of the points anyway but he definitely didn't look like the injury was facing him no he didn't yeah no he didn't we're going to come back in a minute we're going to move on to uh Juan Velez now second place to him 1.4 I mean one and a half seconds last year is one by four thousands between Pedro Ferreira and Slavic one and a half seconds off Fellas on the yeah let's have a look at his run I mean well I mean like uh like Slavic said I would I would wonder what would happen if he wouldn't have made those those mistakes yeah I mean they they didn't look too big but right there when you when you saw him fall off you know what happens there you use overcooked it just a little bit he would have been on the brakes you know and everyone else is pushing down and really getting some good pumps there and then up at the top and that really uh kind of flat right-hander he did slide out a little bit there so he was pushing for it which is good right like it's a racer you you can't be mad about it you were right on the edge if he was just maybe one percent slower break a little bit more then he would have been able to hold it that's right it's still such a young Rider you know it was such a future in front of him that was only a second attempt at winning here you know what I mean like you know the experience it's going to be a big part for it what do you think where do you think he won or lost this one let's have a look weird I feel I feel like this was one of the key moments that he he lost it anyway um oh yeah of course you can see here he's coming there a little bit too hot and uh he's actually planning to uh go straight along here this is the actual track so everyone rode that line and then he ends up off there off the side of the track and he has to improvise like I don't even know what's off the side of there they might be playing whatever nobody was practicing that I've never practiced that line he had to improvise on the spot hop back onto the track and then keep going and I think he definitely lost time doing that but he managed to improvise on the spot and it was pretty impressive you're right about that yeah because that could have been you know he wouldn't have come second I mean yeah and that also explains perhaps that big gap between first and second a little bit when why does that happen like when because I feel like that happens to me like that happens to everyone when you're coming around and then you kind of get like stirred up or something like what what happened to him there I think he just came in here a little bit too hot hey he came in everywhere too hot today you remember his run like his perfect body position but then then he got a little bit off balance and then he would have looked out there and been like oh I'm gonna go off that edge and it just tipped him over there and basically you end up where you look and then that's what's happened to him here he's ended up straight off there and they would never have ridden that line so it's quite impressive that he managed to pull it back together and get straight back on the track exactly an amazing bit of riding to think on his feet like that of course I mean this doesn't surprise me but well after what we saw in the in the pre-show with the with the easy flat turns I think you want to show us yeah with some flat turns from a day when a few flat turns from today where we had a bit of action like that this turn here really played its part they didn't do much wrong again like as I said in the uh pre-show that there was a bit of gravel out there you guys you guys may have laughed what um there definitely was some breakfast another one was um Phil Atwell he was doing a great run and then and then here he's lost quite a lot of time and speed there and then I felt like um we believe you about the race in night now you know yeah yeah racing line today and then Nunes he he took a completely different line through there he ran it wide out into the gravel do you think he was calculated and meant to go that wide because he would have closed up that next left for him what do you think I think I think he wanted to do it just yeah you look at him here then he he knows that he's going to close up the next one but then he um he runs it wide and then he comes back but like it's definitely tighter but then he he doesn't have to break as much and he pedals to the next Corner yeah so I I feel like um that was pretty pretty good from him and that the story of the early part of the race was the simple Corners that just the mistakes they were making in those simple Corners absolutely well on that I feel like most of us like the kind of your uh intuition is to like break as late as possible into one of those yeah is that what you're oh we got one for fellas waiting for us in Chile we'd have to go let's from him now now results foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] well one verse says that he's very happy with his result he was aiming for first place so he's a little disappointed about that but he still dedicates this win to all his family all his country from Colombia and he's very excited he said that they're a little mistake cost him the win but still happy to be here in second place well absolutely a little I would agree that he was he was he was after the win and he came pretty close today like you said he can be proud and there are the results then coming in fifth place Alberto Nicholas fill out wheel down there in ninth at his first attempt but yeah what a race that was did you enjoy as much as we did I definitely did you're going back or is that frightened you forever no I'd love to go back I enjoy this race and I enjoy like seeing the South Americans do well with their home event it's pretty cool and I'll be pretty worried to see uh Camilo Sanchez and uh Val is in the middle end race well that's right it is just three weeks away now for the round two of this Red Bull set of butthole series Red Bull Midland we know it's a different track it's short of the stairs of course there is this chaos who do you think is going to come on top Ferreira probably won't be back in Action could it be Velez I would beat my money on belly but um Columbia baby Sanchez did not look scared today no he did yeah they both pushed so hard I know I it's awesome this is gonna be a good series yeah yeah okay and I'll take that there's something amazing listen we gotta go thank you we could start and talk about it all night thanks so much thank you win of course thank you for joining us at home we'll see you in three weeks time for round two from the meddling until then it's goodbye [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] [Music]
