Replacing accelerator pump on 1406 Edelbrock carburetor.

what's up YouTube we got to put one of them in there going to be honest this will be the first time we ever try to accomplish something like this and it might require more tools it's probably a bigger one n that one smaller it fit in there but it that's there it is son of a this is why you don't leave sharp objects out how not leaving those sharp objects that's sharp no it's not they poke you really easy so it's sharp so basically we got to replace the magnetic yes I um basically we got to replace a accelerator pump we got to be very careful because we're on a bench with Hol we also need a bucket to put screws in you need a bucket you want me to lose these screws and then I have to go spend $400 on another carburetor no let me find your bucket bucket bucket bucket a something um aha one lid coming up one lid see the tricky part about this is we got to make sure we don't hurt that gasket mind you only has like maybe 150 miles on it well I can't believe that bro I can't believe that broke every time somebody has to come by [Music] here I get my suburb ronight I'll be doing that well yeah we got to get it over here and fix those brake lights too so first chore on the Suburban is to get it run it ran with it broken I just didn't run too well it won't run too well with the accelerator pump what do you think of that little screwdriver doing the job that's another one of them Harbor Freight spicles I mean don't get me wrong I'm used to my Stanley Stanley or Klein my bad Klein I'm used my client screwdriver the first set like that I bought lasted two years I need to go buy two or three more of those because being my luck I F found something I like and then they're going to quit making it let's see what else do we need to got loosen those now [Music] um you can check the top drawer of the toolbox you might have to move the paint can get that little fill rather man that thing is Tiny that's why I need a Le okay I can disconnect that Rod to my choke of course I couldn't make them all the same size could they no that's a little Loosey Goosey I don't know if that what would do this that feel better so what sizes are they for future reference what size was the other one that's a 15 so apparently you need 25 and a 15 torch to get in the edel Brock these just have to be loose see how it comes up you flip that up and around this pops up flip it up and around just like that now now the tricky part is get that off there without well no God dang I got another one of them clippy thing in my jigs well now crack Blas I can't let them just fall out now I got tighten that back [Laughter] up rch and de screwdrivers you know it has a lock position where it just locks you know that's too fancy for me oh you remember I am a mechanic after all sometimes but I want okay now we can figure this filler out I can do the same way I did that without stabbing myself it's going to be fun putting that back on there I'm going probably have to go get you a pair of needle those out of the truck that's okay now we can go back to loosening those first time we might want to get that out of the way too first time for everything well it's not the first time I've been into a carburetor it's first time for El I've been into the Quadra Jets heck I rebuilt one at your house yeah it worked for a little while cartridg yet those shaft bushings wear out and then the shaft gets loose and then gentle easier come on babies you want to split don't don't be don't be don't be tricky easy easy come on easy all I can see is your head no well I don't give a turkey at the moment right now I'm trying to save my gasket easy feet I can't see nothing I can see or something oh that's where you're still sticking get off of there you little devil all right all right that's off there overall it's pretty simple it's pretty clean it's brand new there's a broken component and Ed Brock wouldn't give you a new one no you told me order a part and rebuild it basically so that's what I'm doing is that it it supposed to ride on that spring yeah that's how this one was you can see look look at the spring it got bound up you see it right there they got bound up that might be why it's been running wrong this whole time might have been now the trick here I don't know why every time I try to record a video and people are the floats look super simple too they are oops but the trick is getting these pins line up with need and the accelerator pump to line up with a hole okay now these Fellers may have to come up get this need it Prett sure supposed right there and pretty positive on that yeah do they come all the way out well if you line it up like you're supposed to those don't line up with those holes so I mean I got to drop I mean it's sitting flush it is sitting flush it's not right I don't think I don't think that's right W because see these needles right there they're just supposed to drop down in these holes those are supposed to go in those holes I believe yeah do they come all the way out yeah they'll come all the way out we got to be careful with them see Springs and everything else you gota be careful with see so we're taking Springs out gently I think that would be the easiest way to do is just remove these completely and then uh put it put those back in after you have it set flush that way you know they're in there right m M you sir stay there you why why you being a pickle squeezey sque sque hey don't man this things hold a lot of gas don't they these kind of remind me of a car Carter carburetor okay that go there okay we're going to pretend we know what we're doing and hope it's correct which well that's why it's a good thing we pulled those needles and seeds okay maybe can a guy drop those Springs in there get this where I need it and where I need it and this fil goes down hill Oh that was the easier way to do it I still don't know that lined up right though if it's going up and down and not bottoming out it's lined up right because it would definitely bottom out if you weren't hitting this hole was supposed to go in get this guy yeah maybe will you just can you help guy understand why it don't want to go in here right thank you smells like you been burning crappy gas probably old gas to be honest with you how old's the gas in the truck well it's been sitting for eight months oh that's not old gas old gas is 25 years but then it was also sitting prior to that another long time another long time I can't believe that did that somebody was romping on it it didn't break while ring on it broke in my driveway you're going to tell me that you were not ring on it I was not romping on and it broke in my driveway yeah you can tell it just broke this is a craped how much was the new one $375 the new float was or new accelerator you talking about this talking about car no that was like 18 20 bucks this is 20 Buck part and the part number is 147 because a month and a half old carburetor well it's older than that now but okay because now this should do the thing when I get the thingy hooked up to that okay now I got to hook the thingy back up to the thingy get your camera out my head and then you're probably going to need no need don't knows put those clips on aren't you so I don't lose them potentially okay let me go get you the on probably be smart smarter to do it that get the thingy I mean this hasn't really been that bad of a repair we've got it done in about right now we're sitting at 13 minutes plus the time to take off the carburetor however long that take you that took me about 10 minutes once you take them off 14 times you know kind now I got to rehook up the then we got to get it over here during the daylight and warm semiwarm day so I can find your short so I can get you I can't lift it up no no no no I would put a couple screws back in there come on come on what's going on well well talk to me what's the problem I'm confused well What's your deal it's probably the the seat Springs pushing up on it no it wouldn't pause it to pop up like that hey I got that side pop that down God BL America that's it okay well let's we disconnect this guy I don't know if this is causing me any problems or not wait to put that on until you [Music] get you get off of there you qu giving me problem what in the world is going on I know the accelerator pump might be pushing up on it because that's a big spring yeah but won't be bound up like this it was snapped down into place like it did earlier something is not happy now something is off something's not happy our 13 minute video just turned into three hours no I think it's turned into a 3our video oh just got to get this guy to come back back out of here for a minute okay let me get this to there we go I knew it I knew that was a problem okay now back back and forth put that back in there the spring yeah fine I'll just put it in like this and pretend it wasn't crooked it should straighten itself out as soon as you body tune up you're funny what I want them they said that the throttle bodies are easy to rebuild too sure we'll go with that 15 and 25 torch I know I'm hunting for the 25 again there she be if you keep them in order like they were well know what you can put them back in order if you had them in order it shouldn't be hard for you put them back in order ow there is a there there's a vice there and I just ran right into not in my shop and I know there's a vice there see I've lubed this thing and lubed this thing and it wants a fart every time you close it that feels like it's to go right M and he's huming too now just think when I get my uh 32 by4 building built I'm going have more more tables and then over here where this kayak is after I get it moved and they'll have that workbench over there too so why do you not want to go in there right um I got to cut into the ceiling and make a c Notch so I can get my kayak where I can have the garage door open and it's not the garage door is not hitting the kayak so what goes right here oh there's a little little lever yeah it's at the house you got to press that down and oh no they'll be forcing that right there that's not t it pushes that down oh so what pushes that down it has a little like s shaped Rod that goes in through here and goes in through here which that's easy to rotate thank God so there's a hole in it right there yeah has a little s shaped rod that hooks up to it and that's what activates it you'd think that' be one big ass vacuum leak oh obviously it's not obviously is not but I think I did find a vacuum leak taking this off the truck though that'd be one reason to run on CP the the brake booster uh see I hate these the brake booster what the brake booster that goes back here that hard line it didn't take nothing took it off oh are we tightening are we yeah you're tightening are you torquing those down to proper spec hold on hold on 250 pork crowns yeah that just didn't feel like it stops this stopped man was air cleaner been on that thing not since it's been in the house no oh that's house dust that's house dust don't ask me how I got so dusty so fast but well I know how I have a fur ball pet dander have a big ass fur bow um I can't leave my or what was it our rain slash wind storm we had just a couple days ago a fell understand there he goes stay I wonder if he thinks he's going to do tricks next well know you don't talk to him they don't ever treat you right so you got to talk to them you know I know I wish I didn't lose all that footage on my phone for me fixing the on that pickup out there you know if we were thinking correctly we would have probably stuck a piece of cardboard down underneath that thing just in case you dropped those well you know we're not smart so yeah you know I do stuff sketchy every day at work I did find a couple uh vehicles I might go get you guys talking to me about this stuff because you said you want to throw in with me on this you got to make sure I got monies before you go through stupid stuff and buying stuff well there's a pick up down there and uh uh the whole it's on the way to little field it's a square body Chevy so it took so we're done three tools yeah I took a pair of needle nose my ratcheting Torx bit screwdriver you don't like a regular flat screwdriver and a flaming framing square just kidding no framing square all
