along all right everyone Todd is here once again at the redneck Rumble and he's got something very very different t we doing good how are youa I'm good always so such a pleasure to see you man yeah I wish Michelle could have come absolutely do give her my best now for those of you who haven't met Todd he runs shop truck Gathering awesome truck show yeah my awesome truck show I mean I it's it's been great it's been a it's a dream come true I mean it really is tell us remind us of the date July it's July 27th yep it be from 8 to 4: this year and where is the location it's Cave City Kentucky at the cave cave Cave City Convention Center you can look it up and find it that way yeah um absolutely I think they changed it to Cave City conference something something yeah but I mean it's still Cave City Convention Center yeah well you've got to look up shop truck gathering on Facebook and I'm going to put a link from my time there last year just to show you the vibe it's awesome the trucks the beautiful finished Resto Ms this custom trucks this patina trucks yes if you love trucks you've got to get to about you got to get there right now you have an awesome FL that I absolutely love with the matching trailer something very different to what is in front of us yeah my yeah a lot different than this it's it's more like a Resto mod street rod kind of sort of shop truck but this this what's going on here it's a 1928 Aro speed wagon truck cabin doors um this is my entry for the 2024 Rat Rod Magazine buildoff it's going to rat stock that's where it's going to be at in Langley Illinois okay um I wanted to finish it a little early so that I can get a little run time on it and it it has performed flawlessly today it doesn't get hot it it's not smoked I mean it has been it's been absolutely amazing in that case let's start off at the performance tell to me about the engine it's a 5.0 roller cam engine from a Crown Vic Aluminum Intake El Brock carburetor and is that the way you built the engine that's helping it it's just a stock it's just a stock motor if I built it and put a big cam in it and big set of heads it would probably run War M but it's stock motor I made I made the headers out of Mustang GT headers it's got a 65 Mustang aluminum radiator made for a V8 Three core got a got a electric fan out front where you can't see it um it's just simple you know what I mean it's it's it's just simple it works I mean it really does before we look further Todd what was it that you wanted to go through this because your other truck is so different it's way different um I've been building these for 20 years years and selling them but the blue truck is more for me and Michelle to get out and cruise in and it be comfortable this is not going to be comfortable for my wife to ride in so that's why I built the blue truck this is your fun toy this is the fun toy right the blue truck people like it people look at it people enjoy it but I bet there's been 3,000 pictures taken of this today I've never had anything had this much attention now and I built it from the ground up all I bought was the cabin doors everything else I built myself we're in Rat Rod City I'm going to say rat rod Paradise here at the redneck Rumble in redneck Rumble what is it about this build to that you think of the public just love well because you don't see this every day in Walmart parking lot you don't see it at the regular old Cruisin and car shows people don't bring this they bring something you can buy out of off a car lot or a lot of people do not everybody but when you bring one of these out somewh wherever you go everything stops time just stops I mean today there's been four different photographers Hot Rod Magazine photographed this today and he didn't ask he just walked up and said is that yours I said yeah he just set the tripod down and started taking pictures I'm like that's pretty cool that is to be noticed you know what I mean absolutely but these things are cool so talk to me what did you do how did you personalize and customize this well after I bought the cab it was really really tall and it didn't have a roof I chopped it 10 in I wedged the roof give it a 1 in wedge here that way I got room for my head to fit in here here it has it has bomber airplane seats it has wrenches for the door handles it has wrenches for the shifter yep it has rebar for the drve chef Loop um the the cup holder is made out of a breaker box for your HVAC unit on outside of your house and I just turned into a cup holder exhaust pipes and and then like when you want to shift it I'm sorry sorry when you want to shift it you just I mean it's automatic simple simple I made it as simple easy it's easy to work on this is the m CER for the brakes you ain't got to have no covers or hide it down by the frame I just hide it right there it gave me plenty of foot room um the recer Boom is 27 Model T car frame and I cut it up and made a recer boom out of it you made your own recer boom I made my own recer boom yep and the the winch come off my dad's lawnmower trailer that he's had for 25 years and he'd been dead 10 and this winch was his so all I did was cut the handle off put a socket on here and then I made it to where I can use like it's actually a working record I mean I'm not going to haul cars with it but you can look at that yep and you can let it right down yep and just like things like this that's a full way lugrench that I've never seen one in my life and I've bought it out of swap meat I just thought it was cool you you pull it up and it changes the size for you and one of them just so happens I put a lug nut on there that fits it I mean it's I just wanted something different you know and it is different it's Unique you've made it work you know you could have put a real Towing mechanism on that but that would have been too big that would have been too big something that fits this Frame fits right and what I did was I wanted it to look kind of cartoonish okay like if that cab wasn't chopped then that recer boom would be about even with the cab but since I chopped it so much I wanted the boom to stick way up in the air so you can see it from the front check it out now come over here to the front side and talk to me about what's happening on the front okay these are brackets that I bought from chassis re search in Madisonville Kentucky another bracket that I bought those things I had to buy cuz I didn't have no machine to make them with uh but the frame the tubing I bought the headlights off of marketpl Facebook Marketplace this come from a swap meet it's for a track Farm all C tractor you can see the SE right there on the side well I didn't want to have an emblem made so I marked it with a marker the way that Aro speed wagon would have and I drilled it out and then took a drel tool and then clear coated it that's pretty cool yep so I wouldn't have to pay nobody I did it all myself F the radiator right here I mean it's just about it's as simple as I could get it how long did it take you I started December the 6th and here we are it's first time it's been out right here today like I had it on my little road in front of my house but this is the first time it's been anywhere in a parking lot or you know to work the public can actually see it this is the first time so so what do you like more I I really like the attention from this you know but now if you want comfort and heat and air and wipers and all that junk yeah you got to get in the blue truck but this is the one that gets attention this is um the reason the wheels are white is because I traded for those wheels and I had them laying in my garage and I said what in the world am I going to use them on and I started building this it has a 51 forward front and rear axle and steering box all out of one truck uh so these this this Wheels moled right on with no adapters it's got drum brakes all the way around and they stop really good well you saw me riding in it um the gas can check out the footage of Todd behind us driving around the show everybody it's pretty cold the gas this this gas can this is a extra gallon that people used to pull put on their Wreckers and and the Army vehicles it's made by shuri can and you open this up and you put that where you want to pour it oh my look at that and then and then your fluids come out in you it had it own its own funnel so it's pretty cool I love need things like that so where did you find this on this this come from a antique store and it had a little few little rusted holes in it so I couldn't be used for a gas can no more but it makes a really good conversation piece absolutely um you know what else these things right here you know what those are those are jelly jars out of my mother-in-law's basement course she used to can jelly herself yeah and whenever we put her in a nursing home God bless her um not to in November U I was in down there piling around through the basement and I said these are matching they have Diamond like shapes in them and you know a lot of guys might not like them but I ordered red bulbs so they they're actually red look at that and they're really bright really bright um and they shine up everything on the back of the truck even the recer boom I mean it shines at night I love it this is what it's all about yeah I put my stop light in the back the old school there's a stop light as well the brakes that's what works that's the brake light yep that's the brake light and then the 1928 Warren County which is where I'm from now Warren County so I got a 1928 plate for it pretty cool I've been dragging the bumper around all day on purpose to let it drag the black top and people are just crazy I love it you know people love it that's what what it's about this girl here took pictures with it today yeah um you know Todd I'm so happy for you good for you thank you the first time it's out first time it'sing always a pro it's doing it's doing really good I mean it's I'm I'm I'm pleased good for you pleas um the fuel tank come off of a Dun buggy and it was all aluminum too shiny so I I I kind of dulled it down and made it look like more like the truck you know just old school look uh gas gauge you open up the tank drop the gas gauge in it tells you a little over a half tank there you go so simple so simple love it antique to tool box full of antique tools so you know this is awesome thank you than than you so much man thank you very much going to have a chat with Rodney how's it going sir it's going great how are you I'm good thank you first of all congratulations best engine in battleing bama right yeah got got best engine in battle Obama and uh and I've got the best pro street car with a Bo High Nationals with it it's uh I've just now got it out started showing it last two or three shows and it's been really good I bet it has we've loved the blower cars and we've seen a few on the channel but I don't think I've ever seen them stacked triple on top of each other the way you've done yours right it's uh it's got three 871 on it uh they was built by BC blowers Illinois uh it's a pro street car I'm going to show it this year with the isca well let's get the basic started off first so it's a 1958 biscan yes ma'am and did you do a restoration on the car before the engine obviously no somebody else built the car okay and uh when I got it I put the blowers and everything on it okay so is there still a 350 block underneath all those no it's a a 504 a 54 big block all right lot happening it's a big block with one 2 three 871 blowers on it 871 yes ma'am first of all tell me about yourself and your passion for the blower cars cuz clearly it's there yeah I'm I'm like everybody else I'm a blower person uh with blower car cars uh people build all these other beautiful cars but blowers gets a lot of attention I mean everywhere you go blower cars gets a lot of attention and I'm building one now I'm building a 55 it's going to have five blowers on it it's going to have five okay five 8 71s on it that's what I do F blower cars at home if you haven't seen it check out glowing Mafia where I got a bit of an education on the actual mechanics and how it all works so Rodney going to have to tell me what is happening with the setup here and is it all functioning and how did you get to this well two of them functional and but the middle one ain't but two is functional um so the botom one is functional and the top one is functional yes and how do you bypass the middle one if it's not functioning um it's got tubes and everything in it I put tubes in the middle one but it's it runs great it's quick it it runs cool know it's a tension getter it definitely is um The Block is already a big block and then you add in this much more power so we not sure exactly how much power no we don't know how much but we do know it's loud yeah we yeah it sounds good such a shame your ring doors I mean good for you because it's pretty hot out here but if this was outdoors I would have asked you to turn it on hopefully I can catch you when you're leaving today right but check this out one more time everybody and the next build that Rodney is going to be doing is five blowers and will they also be stacked on top of each other sort of it's going to be two on each side and one in the middle it's going in a 55 Bell a it's I've already got the car built uh we I'm just waiting for the intake get back but you know within 6 months it'll be out 6 months yes yes ma'am that's pretty quick how long did this one take you um not long cuz I already had the car um took a couple months but you know I already had the car built okay so it was just the engine that you wereing ma'am it looks awesome my question to you is what are you going to be doing this besides showing it are you going to try to race it some no I ain't going to try to race it no go look at the size of that exhaust everybody goodness mate now you've got a show that's happening as well in July yes we got a show right here in Lebanon uh it's July the 5th and 6 okay it's on a Friday and Saturday Smoky Mountain Street Dreams if y'all want to go to the website it's Smoky Mountain Street dreams.com and love for everybody to come out we're going to have a lot of nice cars here and for those of you who are loving this this you will definitely see R this big blower car yeah the big blower car be here awesome love it thank you so much for your time you okay thank you all right everybody we're going to have some fun these beautiful cars you've seen them before on the channel including space junkie which hopefully I'm going to get a ride in going to go out for a cruise on the ground but before that eie Eric there he is once again always awesome to see this guy Eric what have you built well I got bored like three nights ago and I discovered tuby and I love watching old TV shows so this was from Johnny Quest season 1 episode 6 the robot Spy so this thing came in in like this UFO thing and landed and came out had these big legs and it would come out and walk around and was trying to videotape everything of Dr quest's compound so they tried shooting a thing and destroying it it was Dam it was pretty much indestructible and I just thought it was so cool and I love the background artwork of the of that cartoon series The Artist did great work and I was just one of those I want to build one of these so I bought a giant bouncy ball from Walmart walked through Walmart and just giddy is a little school girl I tou it yeah yeah go ahead yeah so what I did is I I co I coated it in carbon fiber and then I rough filled it with with uh just body filler and I left it kind of rough because I wanted it to look like it had been beat up right and then this is all just steel thin wall steel tubing um I made a bowl Cap real quick out of aluminum I made the ring out of aluminum real quick and just made it kind of messy I I heated the eyeball it's red acrylic I heated it in my wife's in the kitchen oven I lit lots of Yankee you do a lot of things in your wife's oven yes yes tail lights and whatever ta lights I remember you know Eric is very spontaneous every I'm just going to say this the LA the last house we sold before we moved into our new house I used our dishwasher to clean a set an intake and some heads I ran them through the dishwasher after we got a good wife absolutely lovely made her they she is right hey irresistible Amy wave when did my viewers how you put up with Eric and shoving things inside the oven and the dishwasher I'm very tolerant yes you really are you're a good lady and is very lucky I I won the L I won the lottery with this one yeah that and whatever she wants she gets you guys are an awesome couple but you're very spontaneous you're very creative we looked at uh what was the name again oh this is the iron lung bubble top the iron lung bubble top in detail and then of course we've got the the blue demon trike that me and Ian rousel built together going to go for a ride so we're going to hopefully capture some of that as well but this is the redneck Rumble everybody and you're going to see things like this now this would have been a piece of cake for Eric of course compared to days 3 days this other stuff that you build but it's still cool it's Unique and it fits this very well you standing next to so this is a 72 satellite um my buddy Ace owns this thing and he found it in a junkyard he paid like $5 00 bucks for it got put it all back together got it running um what it was was a retired aerospace engineer built it back in the80s he bought two of them and built them simultaneously so it's on a stretched International Scout chassis with the biggest V8 that American biggest and heaviest V8 that they made inside of it still and it Lumbers down the road it's all old school 4x4 technology so on a pavement it's kind of but it sticks to the ground it sticks to the ground and it'll climb you put it in low gear it'll climb a building um he he raptured it in a a white raptor he tinted it purple and you know did newer wheels and tires on it he actually I gave him my front bumper off my last pre-runner okay well coming back to the paint one of the things that Drew me everybody so this is the rapture lining that we often see in the bed trucks yeah like it you can use it like inside Interiors of vehicles for the floor before you put down your your installation yeah he did the whole thing it's it's a kind of an off-road thing there's there guys with Jeeps that'll do this to their Jeeps cuz they get sick of scratching the paint so they'll do this it's a more durable I'm not a huge fan of putting Raptor on body panels cuz being I like Smooth nice finishes but this this is grown on me so he's got like 12 cars so every now and then I'll wake up in the morning this thing will be parked in front of my house with the keys in it cuz he's like I have too many cars I bought just bought another one the town's on my butt here so it'll sit at my place for like a week and I'll drive it around a little bit and you know laugh and and then I'm like all right come get this thing will you please you know I like it a lot it is very different you know you have to stand here and appreciate it but it's mean it's aggressive look at those big tires I can actually see this going up and down the hills I mean I love monster trucks everybody so I don't know I like it it just it puts every time I see it it just puts a smile on my face put its nickname Grimace cuz it's this big purple G goo Gob thing so goo Gob and you gave him this bumper right here yeah yep yep yep this is the stuff talking about this is why I love coming to the show you've got beautiful finished cars here then you've got absolute oneof a kind custom builds then you've got stuff here the people have you know working in garages and homes putting stuff together it rides it works and they made it and it's personalized that's the redneck Rumble now you guys want to see more of Eric's stuff you do have to check it out remind everybody the channel where people can oh um the Gearhead Underground on YouTube it's you know I don't have a bunch on there but if you're having trouble sleeping at night there's like a whole series on aluminum making aluminum pieces and parts and stuff it'll put you right out you know so it went for me to sleep I mean aluminum is pretty awesome these days but that's cool Eric you're awesome we're going to go for a ride soon yeah yeah I'm kind of jazz I think uh yeah they they finally took a break so Ian's going to kind of recoup we're going to throw his butt on the trike and we're going to go do the tour thing and in the curse are you doing more stuff with Ian just before we finish off there's always yes and no but I can't talk about it I saw something so which you cannot reveal on camera and abely love tormenting you guys at home but there is something in the works and it's going to be pretty cool yes catch it on the show sometime in the near future peace see you you're welcome the redneck Rumble would not be completed without chopped rats which is why Thomas ohly known as coio coie coie y you call me Coolio but that's fine I always call you Coolio and like it that's fine that's fine that's great that's great yeah Co is here everybody now rides for rug rids awesome awesome charity mhm remind us again about when it's happening the show and where the proceeds go to uh the rides for Rugrats uh show will be it's usually in November you'll have to ask Roger more about that cuz I'm not sure about what's going on this year the new build is over there on that trailer it's a 54 Chevrolet Bair we're going to get started on it here pretty soon uh and start getting tickets so to it you have an awesome part in that because you donate so much of your time and skills into building the giveaway car or truck or rat rod what most likely it's a rat rod oh yeah yeah we we try to stick with the rat rod stuff you know uh you know cooler street rod stuff that's what we usually try to stick with so and there raffle tickets on sale for that there is a I'm going to put a link on the top right hand so you guys can learn more about the organization and how it started off from my last years coverage when I did intervie Roger and Steven as well but man you've got something different today yes this is my newest creation uh it's been built about 7 or eight months now I guess um 32 uh coup model a coup um big wheels big tire big hseep it's my that's my motto um 671 blown small block uh still going to do some more interior stuff to it later on I like I said I I work on so much customer stuff that I have to try to pick and choose when I work on mine so but this congratulations for finishing it off it must feel good to have your own personal ride finished this is one of your signature Tates that I really do love I appreciate that and I've seen it on a few of your other rat rods as well in the stitches you know I do the stitches and the stitches check this out almost uh pick my cars out because of those things absolutely and like any good Builder you've got your own signature look to it check out the Interiors I mean you're saying there's still some things to go but I'm loving the wooden floor looks comfortable look at the console right there it just goes with the car and then we've got not one or two or three but four tires in the yeah I think this has the biggest end of all the cars you've built is it it's it's close the last two I've built have had you know doly wheels and tires on them and they're they're they're wide large and in charge as I say all the time well mate tell us about the customization that's happened here um we chopped the top 4 about 4 and 1/2 in um instead of chopping the window I cut it out and added 10 in to the window made it like a big back glass most of the time a Model A yes Windows super small and I just wanted it to be like a big back glass and by and by doing that you actually make it look a lot more flatter Yeah by giving that long WI yeah most of the time you see these cars they chop them and they don't the window gets smaller you know you can't see out of them but in this case I made the window a lot bigger you know so and it goes well especially with the massive ties here it it doesn't even look I mean obviously doesn't look like a moray but it looks like a Cho top yeah it's what I usually do is I try to chop the top to match the back the height of the back glass instead of chopping the window down yes so I cut the window out chop the top and try to match all the windows make them all look the same in uniform chopped rats garage everybody you have to check out some of the other work on Facebook because Thomas is very well known here in the Rat Rod world he doesn't just make these out of there is so much involv in your I don't sleep a lot so yeah a lot of it just runs through my head constantly hard to get get it all out you know sometimes it's crazy my mind races way too much sometimes you've got your shop obviously what can customers expect how long would it take to do to build something like this for someone well it really just depends on the parts I mean if we have a lot of the parts and stuff it can happen really really really quickly you know as quick as 3 months but okay if say we have to wait on parts or you don't know or we have to find the right body and we don't know what kind of mils we're going to make to it it could take us upwards of a year you know but mainly 3 to 6 months is what I try to shoot for I see a lot of the moday in your builds in your opinion for doing this for so long what is the best car for a rat rod it's just what you love you know what I mean you can love you know a van or just a old pickup truck it doesn't really matter it's just what if you look at it you like it and you think you can make something out of it go for it you know that's but my one of my favorites is is the model a style Body whether it be a sedan a four-door sedan a coup u a truck a Model A trucks I like that style I do like you know mid uh late 40s mid 50s uh Chevrolet trucks also I do quite a bit of those um the old school hot R old old school stuff yeah old school stuff now before I ask a bit more about the engine there tell me about low down Lu well I was going to name her Lucy because a buddy of mine has a car named Ethel and it's from an old TV show was Lucy and Ethel but he's already got a truck he was building that was going to be Lucy so I just named her Lucille okay and of course there is your other one as well that you have built yeah you've actually videoed this one a year or so ago but the car has come a lot further along it belongs to a great friend of mine and a customer his name is Tim heggy uh we've been friends a really really really long time and he couldn't make it to the show but I just bring brought his car with me do you know when people started making rap RS do you guys know what it was I I would imagine that that it started as soon as somebody just took two or three different things from two or three different cars and made them work together you know and built it for what they had or what you know instead of trying to spend money they took what they had and made it work which it is evolved a lot further than that now where is this this I like to refer to these as like a new school r r because as as far as what it looks like and the technology the technology is a lot more advanced than what it looks like yes because you know I strive to make it look like it doesn't work you know you look at it and go how does that work but and and reality it really really really works like it's supposed to like a any modern car because usually we associate with rat rods with breaking down on the side junk junk junk I like to call it recycling at its best that people use things that they don't need anymore or they find something for 10 of a swap meates yes and they make it work and it is very cre and I respect that a lot but Thomas your Tru is different and it stands out I appreciate that that's a compliment I really enjoyed it hearing oh absolutely I mean we've seen so many rat RS on the channel and you get some that are just covered all around and personalized and stuff but this still works and it still falls in the category of a rat rod but I like that new school yeah new school now the BL are huge these days have you used blowers before on the motors uh this is the first blower I've ever used personally on one of my personal vehicles um to be honest with you I was never able to afford one because the setup is a little pricey okay so um when I when I was capable of being able to you know in the being able to buy one I thought you know I I'm going to do it you know I want to build me one so that's how this came about I'm happy for you man hard work pays off that's beautiful let's hear it run all right Thomas man what's next on the list for you I don't know yet uh we're probably going to try to I don't know if I'm ready to sell this one or not but you know how it is if somebody comes along and that's what I've heard everything is for sale yeah I mean if somebody comes along but I I don't care if I sell it because I'm in love with it right now so check out the RS man beautiful yeah they started off as black and machine and that's a candy uh copper candy sprayed over the whole wheel of course the copper doesn't show up on the black it only shows up on the machine part of the wheel so that's where the copper comes from same on the blower and and all that whereas like on the blower set up I wanted it to look like which the engine has the best of what it needs to be a blower motor and if you look at the Block it's not even painted I wanted it to look like we just had an old junk motor and we threw a high dollar blower on top of it because it's still got the pictures of a rat ride you know yeah and that's why the rust is here I mean you know Kio could have easily polished that off that would not have been a difficult exactly but no that's not the look that you're going for yeah but then you get into the what I what I call street rods and then you need more body work and you need you know it's just fancier in my my opinion it's fancier street rod version it works man and it goes and it looks good and the crowds love this they they seem to like it a lot especially when we fire it off and and people hear it run that thing was loud I certainly enjoyed it I let my 10-year-old he gets in it and revs it up for the crowd and stuff like that sometimes and it really really drives a crowd awesome stuff man love it thank you so much all right thank you
