Lmfao her voice completely changed when she started thanking Colbert for being on the show. She went from Rebecca Fergusson to a Bene Gesserit lady
I actually really appreciate Rebecca Ferguson for being so honest in interviews about not having any particular relationship to the book.
No shade on people involved in movie adaptations that have a passion for the work they're adapting. A certain amount of love, respect and understanding for the source material is a good, even necessary thing.
But so often with these works that have a big following in geek culture there tends to sometimes be an emphasis in the marketing on everyone involved being a fan. Sometimes that can feel a little disingenuous and even misguided. Adaptations made by fans (whether actors, writers or directors) have succeeded as much as they have failed. And while it's an important piece of the puzzle, it's not the only one.
She has the guts and sincerity to meet a pretty big, invested fan base, all expecting her to say what a big fan she is, and say "I don't have the passion for this that you do, but I respect it, and I have worked with all these people who have to do something that lives up to your expectations".
That kind of professionalism is equally important as passion for the source material when it comes to the big, complex kinds of collaborative artistic projects that big budget movies are.
I think I have a crush on her
Some of y’all in the comments that are bothered by Rebecca Ferguson saying she never read Dune before she was casted are hilarious.
Would you rather her post a picture like all those actors who join the MCU/DC with the comics knowing full well they did it for the diehard fans and they never actually read it.
She’s a great actress but I really can’t stand how she decided that Frank Herbert was sexist without even reading the first book. She always tries to give Dennis all the credit like he created the whole damn universe and the character she’s playing
