Rear end swap on 1940's Plymouth Coupe 🔁

name's Hub we're going to lift the rear end out of this car I think I think I know way he want come this way did you put new shocks on it yeah I put new shocks and these are the springs that I got from you oh wow they fit in there that's the proper spring for the car oh look at that now would you well done yeah um do you still have the box or the re I want to buy them shocks for the for the Hudson they exactly what I need right there exactly match the front too Doug mhm yep see that see you got new drums on this or you just you want this one out huh you want this one picked out yeah I out what that what that is before you do anything with it somehow it's a it's a I think it's a Dana it's a Dodge rear end okay and Gary Ling I took the number and Gary Ling he said that's was used from 1957 to 65 I believe that R in and he said they're one of the best rear ends on the market at the time okay what are you doing with it doing either well keep me in mind when you get rid of it we want to go in we want to put this one India that's the one I want in yeah I'll trade you Sid you get down here I'll lift that up and then I'll climb in you just hold this one there not way well no got the back of the rear end we're just going to slide it up see if we can get it go on the other side D duckles go on the other side of it just going to go up for it's thinner and see if we can slide it on I mean can we get that here we go that on now yeah okay I don't know what that's going to do for you probably cause you headache probably no doubt in my mind maybe that's not even supposed to be down there like that no underneath there now when you try to turn it and straighten it up it hits in the bottom right just SEC Hub see that see the thing right here in front where my hand is down here try to turn the rear see that hitting the the spring down below down here see that hitting oh yeah the emergency brake yeah yeah that holds the emergency brake that holds emergency brake okay case of emergencies hit brake you're going to have to probably cut I don't know what to say like you can't flip the rear end up see how it's hitting on the spring yeah yeah we have to do something about that again that's yeah basically that's where it's at for that um we can take it back off and flip it back up and see if it's let's let's do let's take it back up and do it again put it back on top of the spring see what happens just see what happens just got just got to push it up and get onto this narrow part me and take it off I got mine you can a [Music] yeah on the top yeah I'm on I'm on the top too right yeah yeah so it's kind of like there something that I'll have to move yes yeah but I can do that I can sat down in the chair Dam why I can tell you that's that's quite a bracket for a what's that running all run down his neck yeah running right down my neck was oh wonderful get out of there Doug get out of there get out of there he says all right so do you want us to leave it like that there where you got that one out where you got that one open where that one works and fits and all everything jeez it'd be be much easier just fix that wouldn't it I don't know if I can get shields for it it's got two Shields one on the outside dig it one on the dig it out and take them in Nappa part number yeah like that there is going to cause you a bunch that's going to cause you a bunch of headache really is it will until I get it in there yeah yeah I I understand that but you we got you got that right there we'll throw it up on the bench you can haul the ends off pull the seals out of it and get your new PS and shove it back in then you don't have to change brakes you don't have to in here s job yeah KN in there exact and the point is bad and too that's the other thing that's wrong with it it let the actual comes out okay yeah yeah I just I don't know it just seems so much easier to repair than like you're going to be go you're going to doing a fixing your brakes you're going to be shock mounts well I think I think drive shaft yeah I think you Nathan would be the man to you know to rebuild that in my opinion he would be um we should get a hold of them and get him to come take a look at it yeah you know now I got all new part order for that I got to take you can take them back a you well I mean like if you can that'd be like that that would just be a lot less work for you if you can get that repaired don't you think with the drive shaft and with the hook up of the brakes again and trying to make get the mounts back on it setting the pinion right again that's like it's already done it's just I I say repair it I think and you know I'm not saying that's not a good rear end or anything he just I'd repair that I think yeah I can give you Nathan's number I think I I have his number anyway I think colum just see I got a rear end I'd like to have rebuilt can you do it for me [Music] ASAP whatever I don't know I don't know how you do that yeah down Mexico what you do you know how you get better service obviously you tip them they work a little harder all right I don't know if that's going to work around here or not though wants to buy a fuel show at that this yeah what is this all about that's where they had the gas F oh they had it stood up like that no they had lay down okay oh and this come up like this they had it and in this car they had it laying down like that yeah one over here went up here and off here and they had the pipe jammed in behind the spring had a leak in it you couldn't get to it I had to cut I had to cut floor out to get it out oh yeah so I had an original original fuel tank that I captain put on so yeah I yeah I think I'd try to get that rear end fixed it would just save you so much know if I'm trying to modify that give Nathan a call he'd be the man for that I got those seats in here you don't want fire if I don't want you're going to fire him out okay you don't want anybody else Doug was you looking for seats dep what they look like depends what they look like truck seats oh that w't fit my car what's going on there what's oh was this console this is what's that a console no this oh the bottom of the seat they were sitting on that they had sitting on that risers on them um Nathan might be interested in that he was talking about a seed I think yeah yeah he was looking for a seat for his truck I think pretty fussy when it comes to seats maybe the right color and everything they're hard to find you Dy them D them you you you like to have it going is what you're saying yeah yeah I got too much stuff no she been playing old cars Hub how long youve been playing with old cars oh my gosh well I've been actually working on old car since I was 16 years old yeah there you go yeah it's never ending building fix them have you got a count how many you had how many vehicles you've had no I I don't know I got some in the SC in a photo album downstairs that I yeah said pictures of probably hundreds no do my mind yeah well I used to have the yard used to be full here at one time I W back yeah I remember that I had all my own parts and worked on Cut cares in half and welded them back together yeah done things that that he said I couldn't do and that's that's the best one is it the to do it gives you the motivation I did oh I enjoyed it I still enjoy it but the back is so bad now that just can't gotcha just couple hours day now yeah well there's nothing wrong with that no well you going to do well what else you going to do for them a couple hours well that's true get a little exercise yeah right yeah and it's still fun cruising obviously oh I enjoy that I enjoy the old cars yeah I like working on them for some reason yeah I enjoy like doing doing something that somebody says you can't do well to me it's kind of just it's better to have my brain there than somewhere else oh yes if you know what I'm saying that keeps yeah I'd rather be thinking about cares and some of the stuff that's keeps you challenged yeah yeah yeah don't watch I guess and I'm just going to yeah just I like working too obviously or else I wouldn't do it well yes you got to like working I like working I guess and that's kind of a hard thing to say but I every day come home not saying not saying it if you didn't like it it'd be a chore yeah well I mean let's face it you got to work to live I mean yeah I mean you no I guess you don't uh you don't have anything if you don't work well that's true you you don't you and you have to yeah yeah true and sometimes I want things if you want it you got to go for it yeah well that's with me there's signs you want something you got to work for it right nobody's going to hand it out to you true you got to work for it so yeah Hub used to be my boss at the chicken plant Lu and I was my my last in at the chicken pant I got fired for pissing in the freezer it's hard to admit but sometimes that's where you know that's where the name comes you get sometimes you do things that are not right Tak yeah and uh do it without thinking yeah exactly that's I did a lot of that keep chat away from your freezer god well I wanted to go to the washroom you wouldn't let me go so okay that's where I was at like what choice do you have well you know I could warm myself up but I didn't feel like doing that but anyways you're coming along with your car getting the motor we are we're getting we're getting the the motor in place I guess from what I understand I'm getting a lot of heat because they don't like what's going on but what they don't realize is it's it's it's not done yet no it's way from done yeah yeah yeah yeah L more things to be done yeah imagine like there's so many things that you know you can't I can't do it all at once like there's starting point P say on yeah P say on I have to know where the motor goes so no matter what it's built up I have to know where that motor goes yeah that's the first thing you got to know where where the motor goes where the transmission is going to land exact the rest then the rest comes with Falls and place Falls and place after that yeah and I really want to make everything on the car or like basically I want to make I want to have the firewall basically know where it's going before the body comes off cuz there's no sense taking it off until I find that out you know be putting it off on off and on to figure out things you done that enough already I want to do I want to know the steering wheel where that goes there's a bunch of stuff that needs to be known like before I rip it all off and go start doing the chassis and making it right I mean do the chassis all don't know where the motor's going well then you got to cut it all Lo again exactly but yeah doesn't work that the cookies aren't being done mixed yet I didn't even put them in the oven so you can't say they're bad when you haven't tasted them right basically yeah basically it's all about the cookies well I mean you know you have to wait till it's done I mean let's face it there's more things that have to happen oh yeah I mean like say you got to take the body off the frame and box the frame there's a lot to be done yeah a lot of work yeah lot of work but we need to know where things go well don't rush yourself no do it right yeah well all right H we're going to hit the road all right well thank you no worries we're on call anytime we're on call I going to say I I think Nathan would be the man for that and uh he's a Gearhead with the gears he starts rattling off gears I don't know what the hell he's talking about well he knows actually uh Liz hub's wife actually did the interior for the Royal respect when we were doing filming um we are about 10 minutes away from home and uh Liz did the interior it did not show that it was filmed but uh that's where the interior was done I want to thank Liz and hub they're always good because I'm good to them they good to me we we friends better Hub everybody [Music] yeah Hub was the the boss at the plant in our poultry was my boss when I hanged hung chickens surprised you're still friends then uh yeah it's it's so different you know when well let's face it that was there's work and there's 30 years ago don't let them Doug that was 30 years ago yeah that was a long time ago yeah was 30 years ago I've did my time and my my sentence I learned my lesson I think I did anyways learned my Lon to say something H's been in old car for a long time yeah he's been on as long as I can remember remember years ago him coming over house all the time with this love wife and driving their hot rods yeah see what's going on Liz comments once in a while in the videos yeah Liz will tell you up straight what's going on yeah I hung chicken probably 15 years no not 15 years 10 years 10 means 90 wow how did I ever end up with you I got 51 and 52 53 49 I I got I got grade 10 and you got what eight years of college no nine years of college does college make someone smarter than another winter does that I would say when we go down south the roads are generally a little bit better and I'm thinking it's because their weather their weather is better unless they have a it's flooded or stuff for it's just all part number well the only reason I'm saying that is because he has to modify the other rear end to put in it yeah yeah like quite a bit too i' say maybe we'll get a hold of Nathan or I can get a hold of Nathan and ask him because [Music] put SE all around the SE baby you he he possibly could yes he probably could yes yep TR it yeah see where you got the wheels off be
