[Music] good morning reader Pops I just woke up got coffee and I'm back home now and it's just an overcast rainish day it's very book reset coated I haven't done one of these ultimate book videos in so long and I'm so so so excited to do one today because there's just so many book rated things to do I've been wanting to reorganize my shelves where I have like a favorites shelf and then move every single book that I have not read on my shelf to a certain part so that I can physically see how many books I have that I have not read and then get to move them to like a different side of the library bookshelves I've done a lot of things in my reading Journal that I want to show you and I'm going to add more to it today I have my box of supplies back here as you can see I'm currently reading half a soul by Olivia Atwater right now this is the Regency fairy Series so it has Royal Regency romance Vibes but they're in this like magical world where there's a fairy world that exists I was told if you like cruel Prince Trilogy you should read this so I'm giving it a try I'm like 85 pages into it I also want to go to the bookstore and buy one book perhaps we can make a TBR we can plan out my next videos it'll just be a fun time a fun and cozy time I think right now I'm going to turn on Katie's readings Vlog I was watching her new one and start adding something to my reading journal for April I guess I can just show you the updates right now in my reading Journal this is what the reading log is looking like I added this dnf tracker so that I can track whenever I stop reading a book what page I stopped at and what the reason was and what date which is actually going to be really helpful because if I dnf a book I typically forget what page I stopped at and this will help me be able to go back to books that I dnf I copied this one from Pinterest but I love it but the thing is I messed up spelling January because it was my first time using this Tombo pen and I've never written in it before so I messed up the U but I love what this looks like and then I made this little calendar main Channel videos blog Channel videos obviously I did this retro actively it is not January anymore but I hadn't made any of these spreads yet and then I have my January read my February spread this was my February schedule I've been adding these to my reading Journal because I typically do these where I have like a video schedule type thing so I'm just adding it to the reading journal to keep everything in one place this is the new releases for 2024 and I've actually already read a lot of these I need to print out one more for here and then I had my March schedule I'm going to show this one from afar cuz it has spoilers for videos but I started just writing the title of a book and then the characters the synopsis and the review because I really want to write more while I read a book so that I can remember it more even just like writing plot points I want to write down I just don't want to spoil books for anyone if I do these videos so just look from far away it's not very pretty yet yeah now I need to do my April or actually I need to make my February and March reads and then my April schedule Tada I got ready for the day I actually have to go to the bookstore right now because I'm making a Tik Tok for skims which I am in right now they're actually like insanely comfy it's kind of crazy but the concept for the Tik Tok is that I'm going to go to Barnes & Noble stalk other people who are shopping and then buy the book that they buy so that will be interesting I hope there's enough people at the book store today actually I didn't think about that we might get some interesting books but I will also buy the book that I want to buy which you will [Music] see I can still remember the first time that we kiss feeling light is a feather I always want to feel like this but at some point we is up right sugar and when we find no one wants to start and this time goes by I wonder uhoh can we reverse the fall can we go to the placez I good morning guys it is not the next day it's a month later I've had a haircut I started taking vitamins you like mesmerizing to look at no really we're continuing this reading Vlog we still have much to accomplish I'm going to tell you about the books that I was reading and the one that I'm reading right now that's really good I've never heard of before but first I'm about to take my vitamins for the day because this is something I finally started prioritizing which is great because I could just never figure out what vitamins to take this is the essential for women multivitamin 18 plus and it's a clinical backed multivitamin formulated to support key nutrient needs of women 18 to 49 and this was a really big selling point for me personally to start taking these vitamins daily is that all of their ingredients are traceable meaning you can figure out where they sourced it what the study is on the ingredient that they're using is they're just being super transparent about their sources their suppliers everything and also the biggest thing for me is that it's an En capsule design that's designed to be gentle on your stomach which I need so bad you can take it with or without food which is so important cuz I already have other medications that I have to be so specific with and if I'm not it upsets my stomach this I don't have to worry about it I can take it anytime any day with without food and it's gentle and it has a minty aftertaste and it just makes the process of taking vitamins everyday super easy and enjoyable and they're so pretty so yeah I'm obsessed and they actually gave me a code for 25% off it's Haley fam Vlogs and the link is in the description and if you guys don't enjoy your experience with them you can get your money back first month on them yeah thank you to Ritual for sponsoring this video now that I've taken those I need to share the book that I've been reading I feel that giddy feeling of finding a book that I feel like I have not heard many people talk about yet the book is Ministry of time by cianne Bradley first of all cover I love it's what initially drew me to this cuz i' had never heard of it before it was on book of the month so I looked up what it was about it said time travel romance if you've seen some of my videos you would know anytime I've discovered a time travel Romance I'm obsessed but I feel like I've only read it twice 7-year slip and the unmaking of June Pharaoh are the two that I'm referring to and these are both five star 4.5 star super highly rated book so I got it in the mail it started sitting on my shelves and then I clicked on an Emily Henry interview and it was a little book recommendation portion and she recommended this so guess what I did ran to my shelves and picked it up within five pages I was already bothering Ryan and telling him the plot because I was so impressed it just felt like I figured out what it is because whenever I read writing like CS Lewis something about it makes me feel alive that probably sounds like the nerdiest thing ever but something about it it just tickles this very specific spot in my brain that I feel like stays dormant for a lot of the time until whatever this is wakes it back up and it's so cool because in the beginning she's interviewing for a job where she's going to help people who are coming from what she assumes are other countries and so she asks them okay where are they going to be coming from the response she gets is history and she's like what are you talking about and it turns out the British government has figured out how to time travel so it's going to be her job to take one of these people who has time traveled in her case someone from the 1800s who's a naval army officer and then she's going to have to live with him and integrate him into the 21st century that is the coolest concept I've ever experienced it's not written like a romance book it's written like a kind of intelligent short sentences kind of funny kind of serious if you think about it it's kind of a forced proximity Trope because they have to live together I'm like a 100 pages in and they really have not gotten to any of the romance it's just little things where she gets jealous of other people and she starts caring about what she looks like little little little tiny things like that so like I said not written like a romance book at all but it's so fascinating because think about all of the things that someone from the 1800s would have to experience in the 21st century he's also never seen a vacuum he's never ridden a bike just like the most crazy things that you would never think of and it's so cool now after raving about it for so long I will say it's been a little bit slow for me sometimes because it definitely is making me use my brain a little bit more than like you know a romance book but when I do turn that brain on I have a great time so I need to just get in the habit of doing that more I'm on page 110 I'm so curious to see if there's going to be a plot twist if there's going to be heavier romance subplot that's going to come in so I'm going to keep on reading because I'm really raving about this without even finishing it yet I'm just so excited so let's keep reading [Music] this quote is insane they fed us all poison from a bottle marked Prestige and we developed a high tolerance for bitterness hello that's insane writing that's not okay this is not okay this is not okay [Music] this is not [Music] okay five stars this is ridiculous like I don't even understand my reaction to this book right now I feel like the reaction I'm having is deeply personal and I cannot guarantee that you will have this reaction to this book look [Music] bro gosh goodbye goodbye goodbye it's the next day I think I'm ready to give my review I just edited the part that you just watched and watched myself cry I feel like it almost feels vulnerable for me to admit how much I like certain books just because I know that people read a lot of the books that I like and I just feel like this one is going to be more Niche to where I can't really explain to you why it hit me in the way that it did other than I feel like I just personally related to really specific things and I had to journal two pages Worth to figure out my thoughts about this because I will say if you don't relate to the niche things like I was reading other people's reviews on Instagram they're just like oh like this is a fun spunky little time travel tail that has plot holes and you shouldn't take it too seriously and here I am taking it so seriously and like all of the plot points I actually feel like were such background noise to me but the things that she was subtly weaving in throughout about having immigrant parents about being a mixed race how grief can keep you in the past those were the things that really really got me and then there were also like fun plot twists that I am silly and I just never see coming so those really got me and I was like gasping and I thought it was so cool would love to read this over again knowing what I know now which is just so crazy because the book honestly starts so slow I thought about dnfing it at like page 70 and I cannot believe if I would have dnfed it I would have not had this experience which is so crazy I think the best way that I could describe her writing to you is it's kind of like Gabrielle Zan in tomorrow and tomorrow tomorrow or olivy Blake in alone with you in The Ether both of those books have subplots of romance but they are definitely not the point of the books she almost writes in a way where she's like sitting back at her computer and it's very nonchalant and then she'll just hit you with the most Savage lines that cut to your heart and you're like okay awesome what am I supposed to do with that like how do you write like that I can't even find it anymore but there was a she really starts off like every new sentence with what the weather was like that day and there's a thunderstorm going on and she described it as like the sky being a kitchen and one of the big pots or pans fell from the cupboard and I just thought that was so creative I'm kind of paraphrasing it but just little things like that if you really appreciate good writing style or unique writing style I feel like you will love this book I feel like this book definitely takes some brain power it goes back to some history plot points that I didn't understand a lot of the words that she was saying in those but I just I understood the point of what was going on so I was like okay this is fine and just keep moving on but then the romance when it did happen was so good I was giggling throwing the book I'm just going to read the last three sentences of the book and it's not in my opinion spoilers at all it's just kind of a theme that really hit me at the end but you can skip to here if you don't want to see that the truth is it won't get better if you keep making the same mistakes it can get better but you must allow yourself to imagine a world in which you are better forgiveness which takes you back to the person you were and lets you reset them hope which exists in a future in which you are new forgiveness and hope are Miracles they let you change your life they are time travel that quote gives me chills I just have not I just not read a little quote like that in a book that's actually felt like it has changed my perspective on my own life in that significant of a way and how grief is something that can keep you in your past and that is time travel in and of itself a little bit and if you can have forgiveness to where you don't have regret and then also have hope for your future forgiveness and hope are literally gospel like that's crazy there is like two or three pages I think of on page spice which was kind of jarring I feel like this book could have gone without but yeah I think that's all I can say about it it's five stars okay I I'll say one more thing I think a really cool part is in the book The main character is Cambodian but most people don't know that until she tells them and then when I flipped to the back of the book that's the author and she is is British and Cambodian and she talks about having a mom who is an immigrant if you have immigrant parents possibly that's why this book hit me I don't know I think it just like a right place right time type of thing and it feels vulnerable to like it this much because I know so many people will pick this up and just be like oh yeah that was like a fun little time travel and then I'm sitting here like bearing my soul when I read this book so this book is not going to be for everyone I definitely think people who have this reaction to it will be a smaller group of people it's not like a widely reaching book I don't think think but if you give it a go let me know how it goes and here is me reorganizing my shelves now because we need to move past that I'm officially a librarian ooh I see the dust yay they really weren't that Dusty also I just got a haircut today good morning guys it's Monday now I filmed my wrap-up for the entire year over the weekend so I have all the books laid out and I kind of want to reorganize my books to where I put the books that I've read so far this year on this shelf maybe so that I can just visually see what I've been reading this year I feel like that would be fun and then I also want to make a TBR side which might take longer I might not do that right now cuz that would be a complete shift of every single book and the thing that bothers me about organizing a bookshelf like that is that it breaks up series because I'll be in the middle of a series one of them has to go on the TBR shelf the rest of it has to go on the other side and I just hate seeing it it just doesn't look cohesive but at least visually I'd be able to see like oh these are the books that I need to read so we're going to try this out and see what happens [Music] this is actually huge this is the first time I've used one of the top shelves and I had to like scale the Li Library wall to get up there but at first I'm having books up there we're already 3 months into the year and this is what I've read so far and it doesn't even fill up a shelf which is kind of motivating I guess to keep reading so there's the reorganization so here are the romance books and then these are some of my Five Star reads right here and then I put like literary fiction up there that's crazy it looks so much more full up there now I still have room to do like TBR stuff here I [Music] think it's much later in the day I showered and changed but I did finish half a soul earlier today or and I liked it but I didn't love it when there was moments between the love interest I feel like it was really really sweet and actually romantic and I love the Regency Era of everyone around them is just getting paired up to get married off to someone just so that their family can be set up but these two characters don't really adhere to those social norms but they end up falling in love anyways and you know the touch of a hand can be like the craziest thing in the world and I love that type of romance but I feel like the conflict and all of the other characters in the story I didn't care about as much and it was really hard for me to stay focused and stay in it so I'm really glad I read it finally because I've loved the cover of it and wanted to read it for so long I don't think I would ever recommend it as like if you like the cruel prints you would like this book cuz I do think they're just so different so I think I'll give this book like a three stars but it was a good dip in the water of Regency romances for me and now I wasn't expecting to read this book but I got an arc an early copy I think it comes out like next week so it's not that early but this is how to end a Love Story by by Ulin Quang I don't know if this is her debut book or not she wrote the screenplay for people we meet on vacation by Emily Henry and she is the director of the beach read movie Beach read is the first book that I read in my adulthood this book is responsible for why I make book videos and why I read in the first place so I have a special emotional attachment to this book I've read it twice this book like lives in my soul I love it so much and she's the director of this movie I've literally seen her on Emily Henry's Instagram and she wrote a book so I'm reading it right now I'm only 17 pages into it I've already highlighted a quote and it's already giving me the Vibes of beach read because there are really serious topics but the way that she writes it's so good like I just love the writing already I just have such a good feeling about this book though like this has a lot of potential right now and I feel the anticipation which is like the most fun feeling in the world so I'm going to keep reading right [Music] now we've time traveled again in this Vlog as is the theme of the books I've been reading weird I finished how to end a love story quite a while ago and I feel like I've just talked about it so much in a main Channel video my April wrapup and I feel like I'm just going to be saying the same things over and over again basically the consensus of this book is I liked a lot of the quote meaning I think her writing is great but I did not like this situationship that was taking place although this is funny and leads me into my next book that I want to talk about because I gave this one a lower rating because I didn't like the friends with benefit situation three stars but then I went to a place called the the book House Hotel in Pennsylvania and I filmed a 24-hour reading video with Sarah and Destiny which is so fun go watch that video If you haven't seen it already literally amazing and in it I was reading love interest by Claire Gilmore which is actually a very full circle moment because in this blog on my Vlog Channel Destiny chose this book for me randomly just based on the cover and this ended up being basically a five-star book I want to reread the ending just to make sure I wasn't Delirious in my 2 a.m. stuper and I misjudged that it's good when it's not cuz I do think it's good but this kind of has a situationship in it and yet it's rated so highly in comparison to this one so I don't really know how to explain it anymore cuz clearly that was not the issue who knows I just found this one way more romantic this one is like a New York City workplace romance and similar to this book nothing on the backs of these books would have given away that I would relate personally to the main characters and yet I did they work in finance in New York City I definitely cannot relate to that but it was enough to where I was like well I'm invested in this book this is so interesting to me and I just thought a lot of the banter was funny I like how he's described as always leaning on walls and having messy hair it really reminds me of Gus from beet readed something about that just really gets me every time yeah I guess even their dialogue reminded me of beet which I talked about in this video being one of my favorite books so both of these books had like under 2,000 reviews on Goodreads when I was reading them and they're both five stars to me which I feel like is just such a rare and unique experience and I almost read them back toback I only read a Nolla in between them so that's also crazy I feel so lucky to have found these books and I feel like it just really brings me back to why I enjoy reading and how reading can even make you learn more about yourself so check these books out if you want and also don't forget that ritual is offering you guys 25% off your first month you can use this QR code on the screen or the link in my
