the single crust that's on my face mother cane you guys let me start this video by talking about Preacher's Daughter ever since I listened to that album I'm not even joking it really affected me and it's been a while I haven't listened to to a project that touched me like that so yeah now I'm a huge fan of Ethel let me tell you this right after I reacted to that album I broke down and my favorite song is Sun bleached flies every day I listen to it I've been wanting to listen to her other stuff for a long time and today I'm going to be doing that we're going to get into inbd which is an EP that she released right before um preacher's daughter I don't think she released anything between them I'm I'm also very excited to see if that EP is also about the character of ethc or if it's something extremely different so yeah let's just dive into it it has six songs and to be completely honest I have no clue who that is next to Ethel on that album art I'm loving what I'm seeing it looks very artistic especially with the cross in the background blurred out mhm but yeah I don't know who that is next to Ethel it was released on April 23rd 2021 through her own daughters of cane record label oh interesting I never knew that okay so let's go I'm really excited so the first track on this EP Michelle Fifer featuring Lil Aaron let's [Music] go everything EAS Way Out West holy my and the way that [Music] dropped is this song going to be about Michelle I tell all my friends everything you do a sick Obsession that I still try to prove but it's no good cuz who am I without you is Ethel obsessed with Michelle Fifer and she's just talking about her obsession with her now it seems like she's talking about a guy right like this is what you would think when you read these lyrics I'm just thinking about the title like what what's the what's what's the [Music] connection it's not do you think of me too I hate to let you go find I keep on all right before we get into the guy part I have to comment on the production on her voice it reminds me a bit of American teenagers production which is kind of different from the rest of the preacher daughters tracks it's a little bit more produced than the rest and I have to say I absolutely love the production on the other songs but this also seems nice it's it's really cool going back with her discography even though I wish you know I did it um in proper chronological order but oh well so she says and everything's easier way out west holy met and half undressed she's enjoying her Freedom there um so is she leaving the guy to go to the West because she then says I hate to let you go but if I don't then we both know I'll bury us both fed to the night as ghosts so she knows the right thing for her to do is to just leave and go to the west and live her dreams about you she just like driving with my eyes closed Hope by cry I won't even miss you tomorrow wow I'll be ready but [Applause] I all is both to the love [Applause] wow Jesus Christ and I'll never be ready but I do you think got me to to let you go I little f [Music] to wow oh my God this song's so [ __ ] beautiful and I still didn't get the Michelle feifer connection to be honest but I believe it's about two people just not being able to be together for different circumstances oh wait is this about the same guy from the Nebraska house like her first one that they were in love together and you know things didn't work out that's interesting but I want to look it up what is the Michelle Fifer connection quote I've always idolized Michelle Fifer and thought she was a picture perfect bombshell so when I was in the back of my Uber with the windows down headed to the studio bright and early that first morning and humming a little chorus Melody to myself I felt like a bombshell of my own it felt like my life oh oh had finally started okay and cooked okay so the title is basically about her feeling good about herself for writing this song it's really good I love it top to bottom the chorus is just the chorus hits okay now we're going to move on to [Music] crush wait oh my God oh my God so it's true this is actually about Ethel Kan right cuz first the first song was talking about the guy it's probably the guy from the Nebraska house and now she's talking about another guy probably which is the guy you know that was a thief a burglar whatever and they were sleeping together and then the neighbors were beating on the wall I'm going to check it out after I listen to the song just to make sure [Music] problem now his old [Music] brother I'm having goosebumbs [Music] you so oh my god [Music] wow I only him if he says to me [Music] icy hiss I missed that lyric [Music] I like that I love [Music] this [Music] oh he [ __ ] loves [Music] meow watching you oh my God this [ __ ] [Music] chorus ra I really like this lyric good man die too so I'd rather be with you like it just it just doesn't matter I I don't want to be with someone better than you cuz it will end you know at some point it's just the way that life is so it doesn't matter if it's a good or a bad person so yeah I do believe this is about the same guy from what song was that Western Knights I think so let's see hm okay now I don't I don't know like this is this song is definitely about Ethel having a crush on that person but Western Knights talk about a guy that she actually was with there's similarities a lot of similarities in the songs so I'm going to believe it's the same guy I can't really find anything about it so yeah I I absolutely love this song so much so next we're going to move on to God's country featuring wiip Springs [Music] Eternal with no one to guard you and just a voice inside you I love how she said inside you how it echoes that's really nice and just a voice inside you when you're old you understand but we're hurting now so what are we to do tell them our kids who grow up with half as much try to build something out of D wow tasted sweet drink the blood B the meat you hold it you hold it you let it [Music] go her voice is so haunting theway through the and the of take your hand entirely I embrace the B Beast over Hills and Highlands we rode hard the passing take take [Music] count [Music] M wow the [Music] background you'll never know don't singing me with your don't see better off if you let [Music] go this song actually got better um as it went on and I have to say I didn't really like the the Mal's Parts I don't know I just didn't resonate with his voice that much when they sing together in the chorus it sounds perfect like I liked his backing vocals but I didn't NE necessarily enjoy him giving the main vocals but all in all the song is really good especially in the end it's just it just made me drift away and there's just so much here right at the beginning Ethel opens up the song by saying the road is longer than it is hard with no one to guide you and no one to hold no best foot forward to sway the odds just a voice inside you and a stone to throw this is most definitely emphasizing on the hardships of life that we are thrown into and then oh my god when you are old you will understand but we are hurting now so what are we to do till then we always get told when you get old you will understand the journey matters a lot it was a highway to nowhere and we rode it yeah it's kind of like life is kind of like a ride like an endless ride and sometimes you just don't know where you're going you just feel overtaken by everything happening around you and then our kids will grow up with half as much trying to build something out of dust finding out out too late what they need I believe our generation like people who are born in the '90s have had a really nice childhood because they got to experience you know everything and they kind of grew up with the world of the Internet it's kind of nice to have you know the Best of Both Worlds there's just too much in this song and I'm going to need to take my time going through the lyrics cuz I love them so much I just want the only thing that I really want is is to get used to his voice and I know I will after a few listens I will definitely get used to it and I will like it but I don't know I just felt like the production is way too much on his voice that's all oh my God she wrote so there was a previous version for it and then she scrapped it all and then she wrote it back in just one night and recorded it wow she wrote all of this in one night damn but yeah I can't really find anything about the exact meaning of the song but like it's kind of it's it's very obvious it's kind of obvious but what I want to know is how does this relate to the character eth Kane I don't know maybe later on while she was working on prater's daughter this is where she actually started to develop the character of Ethel so yeah let's just move to [Music] unpunishable slow call me what you want and I'll be the soing on his teeth he needs it soad screaming part over go [Music] the this is giving me Gibson Girl Vibes if that is what is going on then we know who that is about he okay with he says so B he wants to know how I'm too good for you and it makes me need it even more and he who you is still never it's about him [Music] right swollen up with Envy God damn [Music] [Music] it we don't even know where we are I don't even know you [Music] [Music] are [Music] damn [Music] wow [Music] wow no way this makes me wonder if this is the same guy from Preacher's Daughter asah Josiah something or if it's someone else cuz Okay so this song has a very different meaning than what I thought it does but like what does it mean I don't even know who you are maybe maybe when you get way too too deep into this so yeah we are talking about consent in this relationship and now we're going to move to the second to last track on the EP which is called inbd it's the title track oh oh my God this sounds [Music] Dreadful on the stove put it up older brother made a name with [Music] cop but iar not so you [Music] yourself m is C with to she can't leave theed he's wor we already dead already so at first when it started with that first verse I thought it was going to be about you know that guy but who she's really talking about is her older brother he's [ __ ] and he has made a name for himself with the cops so he's a troublemaker but she's saying that he's not really cuz he's probably productive for her he's so good to me and no to nobody else so you should watch yourself but that first verse was just I don't know the words were too powerful we wake up and all the [ __ ] lights you who knows how much longer I'm not scared of God I'm scared he was going [Music] all M knew you were WR you were WR oh brother made a name for himself with f i trash s but love to you get off on inoc so you see gra does your baby know a [Music] rapes Hard Times damn [Music] scar this line wow oh what oh this was the best vocal performance Ethel gave so far to me what the [ __ ] oh my God her capability I didn't know she was capable of doing that wow I knew from the start it was going to be a favorite and that last part just already kicked it up it kicked it up there yeah we're back to the family tree and her broken brother um who is a scumback [ __ ] and where is it a white trash dick but she loves him to death the way she mentions what hard times talks about just in a one single line and then after that she says he hates the way you look at me you're already dead you are already dead and of course the line that I absolutely adore in this song I'm not scared of God I'm scared he was gone all all along preach this describes a young girl with only her older brother to take care of her she watches him all the time even when he thinks she isn't she gets what little Comfort she has from him depending on him for everything write down to warmth when it's cold her brother is troubled that he takes care of her everyone thinks he's a bad person but she swears differently and then they're [ __ ] up Mom she accepts that some people are dealt bad cards in life and just waits for it to be over yeah I forgot to mention this I like how in the second verse she changed the cops line to the fed's line just to tell how you know it's getting worse with him she loves her brother like Ethel loves her brother for being protective of her but she knows that she he's you know nobody likes him cuz he's just bad to everyone else and he's toxic to them oh my God yes yes yes yes yes regarding the line does your baby know her daddy's a rapist this is clearly on genius this is before preacher's daughter came out and it says a theory that these lines by Ethel could be against someone she despises from her past as it's really unclear who this is directed at in the context of the story or even who this daddy is yeah this song is just wow absolutely wow I wish I listened to this I wish I knew who Ethel was before preacher's daughter came out I I would have loved to experience the new album After experiencing this now we're down to the last track on this EP which is two-headed mother is this implying like you know a mother with like kind of two different personalities sometimes she's good sometimes she's [Music] bad [Applause] I have to say I got scared for a bit I don't know why it's just interesting how um it transitioned I think it was like an ocean sound like an ocean wave and then it went into the guitar that was very interesting it's probably one of the sound machines that Ethel has wow you you [Music] think I create [Music] you I think what I I said at the beginning of the song I think this is what's happening here so far just two polar traits in a [Music] personality I love [Music] this I've killed before I'll kill again was that the line from the family tree but now she says I've Loved Before I'll kill again [Music] ooh wow that was a nice track and I have to say the album art is like right in my face and they look very similar but the one on the left side has a cross pendant and her hair is down while Ethel I don't know maybe this is supposed to be her mother but it looks like a two-headed mother to me she seems to be asserting herself in the face of the Spectre of her mother and the trauma she passed on to her there's a sense of empowerment that comes from owning an exercis in control over these reclaiming power from the people who have heard her before in this case she speaks to a lover whose emotions she toys with in order to feel that power again I don't really know if this is um like the true meaning behind this cuz it's genius it's like you know I'm not really sure if there is a relation between this EP and preacher's daughter but I'm pretty sure there's you know stuff that connect together such as the the father's line it's very obvious but other other than that I don't think like I don't know I don't think it's like it's that connected to the lp I absolutely loved Crush and inbd I think these are my two favorite ones from this EP God's country amazing lyrics but I want to dive into them more by myself and just go through them and I have to mention this I said it earlier in this video I felt really touched by Ethel's Artistry and she just sparked honestly she sparked a new interest in me which is is to write I've never written anything in my life and so I felt very inspired by her and I feel good about it I feel really good about it it's just it heals your soul you know whatever you keep inside of your head it will keep torturing you until you let it out and if you simply just say it or like tell it to people it's going to go away and it's going to stay in your head at the same time but if you write it down on a paper it's always there and you kind of immortalize it into actual words on paper and so it's making me feel really good about it and you know there's a lot of artists that I love Ethel's literally the first one that made me realize that okay I should try at least to write stuff I just love her for inspiring me this way and I can't wait honestly to dive into other stuff for her so if you could let me or like give me a recommendation what to check after this one I would love that so yeah I hope you enjoyed my reaction to this I love this EP I can't wait to play it tomorrow in my car and yeah that's it so have a good day or a good night and I will see you soon bye
