okay so today we are going to be looking at five-star reviews for some of my least favorite books this is something that went around on booktube for I mean a while ago but I'm always linked to everything anyway I thought that this would be fun because it's funny I really don't care if people have different opinions than me as most reasonable people are but it is funny and there are some books that I truly have strong feelings about even if I'm nice about them on my channel and I would just love to see how my feelings are involved if I look up really positive reviews for these books I will be doing the opposite side of this video I will be looking at negative reviews for my favorite books in a later video the next video but today let's look at people that like things I hate oh wait I just naturally went into the one stars I'm supposed to be going to five stars oh okay first book is going to be Anna and the French kiss which is a book that I gave one star only because you don't have the option to give it zero stars the link to my Goodreads is always linked in the description you can check it out bunch of nonsense this is me being speechless I just I loved loved loved this book and then a bunch of adjectives okay but tell me why you loved it I loved it the characters every single one of them they weren't just to paint the background they all had depth and each a different personality and it was an awesome emcee she was she was also amusing comical even when she was angry you kind of want to annoy her just to see a reaction st. Clare is swoon I call okay starts having feelings towards the gorgeous NTN at the end not only does he have a serious girlfriend but Meredith the one who immediately befriended Anna was kind and a I mean dude he has a British accent but he speaks French yeah he did he did have those things he's so perfect in a totally realistic way can I just okay I'm trying to get through this review and then give my thoughts but let's just react a little bit here first of all and is not the perfect main character and she's not cool she wants to be the most popular and best female film critic because female film critics aren't there just aren't that many of them and she she wants to be one and yet when she goes to Paris she's shocked to find that they have cinemas I don't really know how that adds up then you've got the fact that she has the most terrifying lines where this guy that she has a crush on has a girlfriend a committed girlfriend that he's been with for like a year she doesn't know this girl she just knows that she's with the guy she likes and so she has these really scary internal thoughts of like wanting to claw her eyes out and rip her hair out tallying up all the time that this girl spends with the guy she likes and all the time that she spends with the guy she likes and realizing she wins and it's just like weird stuff she has weird internal monologues aggressive thought processes towards this girl who's truly done nothing wrong she's actually really nice when we finally meet her she's such a sweet trusting girlfriend and Annis the brat and yet the girlfriend is made out to be the villain it's a weird dynamic we'll move forward all right let's go he's just so perfect in a realistic way I did disagree that he's not perfect because not only does he emotionally cheat on his girlfriend by actively pursuing Anna in a really passive way but then he actually really does cheat on his girlfriend by making out with Anna in public before he breaks up with his girlfriend so you know classy guy okay cool so that's pretty much all the review says it's just a lot of gushing over I love this I loved this I love this I didn't I don't I guess I guess just for me like to me cheating is not only one of the worst things but also the most unnecessary you're not interested in the person you're with anymore breakup with them you suddenly like someone else better than the person you're with figure out who you want to be with break up with the one you don't want to be with then pursue the other one like it's so unnecessary and so dumb so I don't like not a fan of cheating who but romanticize cheating it'll make me hate a book pretty quick I thought the characters were really bland I thought this story was quite generic and boring I thought the romance was over-the-top unhealthy like I just think just wasn't anything redeeming about this book in my eyes all right let's read a couple more update after reading this book for the third time at the end at the end at the I feel like I can't say this name because people always make fun of me for being an American pronouncing a name that is an American the boy of my dreams well second place after will Herondale oh we disagree on a couple of things that's go that's cool that's cool Stephanie Perkins is one of my favorite --white a contemporary writers let's see leaves you in a puddle of happy tears and hormones after the last page that's fine it's cool I get it I mean I don't but it's fine okay okay cool cool cool cool she's giving a list of ten things that you'll find I'm down for this let's let's wrap this book up with that one a main character that has personality okay to a swoon whether you love interest three some beautiful friendly relationships spare that ones fair for secondary characters that are truly unforgettable I honestly don't remember them five a setting you won't resist it's Paris guys Paris been to Paris it's beautiful I love Paris six a plot that doesn't lack that doesn't lack of originality mmm seven lovely humor that makes a delightful atmosphere eight a more than pleasant writing style that doesn't do repetition maybe I really that's that might be true nine no moment of boredom that's probably true I don't remember being bored reading this I just remember being mad 10 a new favorite series to fangirl over that's fair you know love what you love I just didn't love it let's move on to something else well we just did two contemporary so let's try for a fantasy what's that fantasy that I hated I don't know why I'm looking at my Schulz why would I keep a fantasy okay let's do never night I didn't hate never night by any means but I I guess I kind of hated it but I didn't hate it like I think this book is terrible I hated it because I hated it let's see here and just saw a really funny one-star review I want I'm really just one I want to react to one-star reviews for my least favorite books I think that would be fun maybe I'll do that video too because that I think would be way more fun than what I'm doing right now first chapter is stayed a straight-up painful girl a great worst opening scene I've ever read writing style won't be for everyone you footnotes need some getting used to uh I never got used to him I read footnotes throughout the entire book a lot of people say that they skip the footnotes but then still give the book 5 stars how you gonna give a book five stars if you didn't even read half the book there were two cringy sex scenes but I hate them in general so it's fine okay see this is why I think one-star reviews would be more fun to talk about than this because agree I don't remember there being two sex scenes I only remember the one but I'm gonna say is the word suckle was used and as a mother who used to breastfeed that ain't a sexy word I would be reading book two ASAP what you just listed a bunch of things you didn't like why is it five stars I guess just cuz you said you liked a bunch of stuff alright fair let's move on I will say that I personally feel like this is an adult fantasy novel not why I fantasy that's because it is adult fantasy in that way eh okay there is sex a lot of sex and violence a whole lot of violence and gore don't forget about all the gore so please go into this book knowing this okay um I get why people would like this book like if you like the assassin training stuff this one was definitely more brutal than any other assassin training one that I've read so if you're into that like if you want its assassin training school with actually high stakes I do think that's something that Jay Kristoff did right I think that the writing style drove me up the wall I really liked Mia starting out and then ended up thinking that she turned kind of generic by the end of it I really liked trick that was the guys name I really liked trick but how everything played out didn't make me want to continue on I will say that the ending was solid I don't think that it was an amusing ending but it was solid it just wasn't for me not something I have extremely strong feelings about it just wasn't something I liked can we think of another book that I hated let's go to my one star books real quick we could do the cursed child I feel like that's enough that everybody could talk like let's let's do the cursed child why not I really appreciated that the relationship was developed in a very honest and raw way talking about Harry and his son not only theirs but the development of Draco and his son Scorpius was truly melting my everything watching Draco care more deeply and fiercely for his child made me open up my heart oh and I wanted to mention how ecstatic I was when Albus the friend did a Malfoy their friendship was inspiring until the very last heartbreaking page to sum up I thought at first that the format of the story would interfere with getting completely pulled in but I need it but I needn't have worried this book was the definition of unputdownable it truly didn't take long for me to realize how much I missed reading about Harry Potter and his magical surroundings Hogwarts will always be like home okay so it was a nostalgia that got the five stars that's fine definitely thought I was going to enjoy this book because I actually liked the play format script thingy that the book was I didn't mind that it wasn't a normal novel and the nostalgia definitely made me instantly attached to it but then the story killed it I was understandably hesitant about a sequel but I'm relieved after having read it it was everything I could have hoped for and not at all what I was expecting seriously not at all but it was perfect type of story I play with in my head when I really you play a story full of plot holes that doesn't fit with the actual story you play with the story you you play a story in your head that changes the personality of characters that doesn't fit at all I'm not going to comment about plot or characters why I want others who wish to go in blind okay fair instead I'm going to talk about feelings I don't care about your feelings there's so much packed into a small story the old hag that runs the trolley foot for the hogwarts for example yeah the spiky trolley which whose spikes were spiky how did you not enjoy that because it was dumb because she just she was like in all my years no one has ever gotten past me not even Fred and George I am the trolley which that keeps all the children train and oh you escaped me man time travel which is a plot hole because JK Rowling destroyed all the time Turner's then she approved them being brought back by these guys alternate realities which didn't line up with the original story because the characters were completely different friendship yeah that's their love probably their Oh non romantic love yeah grief yep friendship again yep love real life Parenthood individuality okay did I mention friendship yeah did I loved this book and honestly just don't feed don't get the mixed emotions and one of the biggest Harry Potter nerds on the planet so everyone who is outraged this is me telling you to take a step back breathe a little and reread the super-fun book before I cut you my friend I am also one of the biggest I just closed my laptop because I forgot that I was recording through audacity but anyway I'm going to be recording another video right after this one about me reacting to reviews of people hating on my favorites so I hope you enjoyed this one I hope you'll enjoy the next one chat with me more in the comments I post videos every Sunday Tuesday Thursday and Saturday I'll see you guys again soon bye [Music]
