hi I'm with crime line products and we're here today to show you how to rekey quick set lock sets we're going to rekey a quick set gentle and quick set entry knob and we're going to use a prime line Rekia lock kit now we're going to take off the quick set deadbolt and the lock set open the door and on the deadbolt turn it the thumb turn 90 degrees and now you're ready to access the screws remove the first screw and now we're ready to remove the second screw as you remove the second screw when you get towards the end you want to hold the exterior part of the deadbolt so that it doesn't drop on the ground now we've removed the deadbolt now we're going to remove the lock set it is also held by two screws or remove the first one now we're going to remove the second screw as you get towards the end you want to hold the extra knob so it doesn't drop on the ground take off the interior knob and to get the exterior knob off put a little pressure on the spring latch to release the exterior portion of the knob and now we've removed the lock set now we're going to key the quick-set deadbolt we're going to start with a Rickie allot kit for a quick set and here's what's included in that package you have three new keys a follower tool your pins your tweezers a removal tool the keying code for your specific keys and pins detailed instructions how to remove and disassemble the lock set you will also need your existing keys to your existing lock so we'll start with your deadbolt what we need to do is remove the retainer ring that's on the back of the lock you use your fork end of your removal tool and just rock back and forth and that will release the locking ring now you remove the tort blade and carefully insert the existing keys while keeping pressure unlock you then take your follower tool and you put pressure on it while keeping pressure on the key head and pushing the cylinder onto the follower tool now you've removed the cylinder discard your old pins and your old keys for now now you're ready to start keen follow your guide on what color pins go where we'll start from the head of the key our directions tell us to use a silver pin first then it tells us to use a green pin then a red pin then a gold pan and then a purple pin as I'm putting these in the cylinder you'll notice that the point in goes down so that the flat end is up that's so when the key rotates there's a nice smooth finish on the top because there's a set of pins in the housing pushing down against these and that's what makes the cylinder to be able to turn I remove the key tap it a couple times and put the key back in and make sure it's still smooth across the top now you're ready to reassemble the cylinder into the housing once again with the key turn slightly at an angle to the top keep pressure this time on the follower tool use a cylinder to put pressure and push into the housing and turn back to a 90 degree remove the key keeping pressure on the front of the key cylinder take your torque blade replace it take your C ring reinstall it just slides right back on now you can take your key and double check that the key works very smoothly now we have rekey the quick-set deadbolt now I'm going to show you how to key the entry lock set taking the removal tool insert it into the spindle rotate the spindle 90 degrees which will take the high point of the spindle inline with the post the spindle is held in by a spring that we access by rotating the lock set 180 degrees using the removal tool the small end goes right next to the post and then we put it at a 90 degree angle and we press down hold up the lock set jiggle it slightly and the spindle will drop out now we're going to remove the cylinder from the housing using a fork end of the removal tool hold it at a sharp angle to where the spindle just came out up and rotate it in with pressure against it and it will slide in and we push it all the way in till it's against the housing now all we need to do is tap gently on the table and the cylinder will come out now I'm going to show you how to rekey the cylinder for the entry lock set now we're going to rekey the cylinder starting by putting the cylinder flat on a table taking the fork end of the removal tool we're going to remove the retaining ring gently rocking back and forth and then taking the small end once it pops up and pulling it the rest of the way off now we're ready to remove the old cylinder and pins by turning 1/8 of a turn we'll take the follow plug and we'll push it up between the springs keeping pressure on the head of the key we're going to push the follower into the cylinder till it's through approximately one inch and now we have the old key and pins out we're going to remove the old pins and now we're ready to start the key the lock with the new pins now we're ready to rekey the cylinder you start with your special instruction sheets which is specific to your key and your pins that you've received insert a new key into the cylinder and starting from the head of the key to the end of the cylinder we're going to put the pins in our sheet shows us which color goes into which hole so we're going to start with silver at the head of the key silver goes in the first hole and it tells us green goes in the second hole red into the third hole Gold into the fourth hole and purple in the fifth hole run your finger across the top of the pins and make sure they're smooth and even with the top of the cylinder remove the key gently let the pins drop down reinsert the key make sure once again by rubbing your finger across the top of the pins that the cylinder and the pins are even on top now take the key and the cylinder holding it once again add an eighth of a turn this time we're going to keep pressure on the follower and push on the cylinder and push the follower through the housing out the back end and when we have that turn the key back up to the upright position keeping pressure on the front of the key way and pull the key out now we want to reinsert the retaining ring push it till it clicks in all the way now take your keys and make sure that the key way works smoothly in both directions remove the key and now we're going to reassemble the lock set now that we've read it we're going to reassemble the handle set taking the knob and the key way press it till you hear a snap once you hear a snap it's seated properly and now we're going to reinsert the spindle taking the spindle gently just slide it down the housing take the small end of the removal tool and push it the rest of the way tell your hear an air alert click and then rotate it from side to side make sure it moves and then keep it to one side now we'll take our keys and we're going to check and make sure it works smoothly with the key inserted now the spindle is turning very smoothly with the key inserted now we are ready to go reassemble the locks and the deadbolt on the door now we're ready to reinstall the lock set now that we've reheated putting on the exterior portion first slightly push in on the spring latch and slide the lock set from the exterior into the door taking the interior part slide it next and now we're ready to fasten it with the screws inserting the screws in start one side come back and start the other side and get it snug but don't over-tighten now we're ready to reinstall the deadbolt now that we've reheat it we take the torque blade and insert it into the latch holding the exterior of the deadbolt we insert the interior onto the torque blade and rotate so the screws line up with the exterior now we're ready to fasten it start the screws once you have them started tighten with a screwdriver now we're going to check to make sure the locks work smoothly we're going to put them in the lock position check with the keys also our locks work smoothly so we finished our job thank you for watching prime line products on how to rekey a quick set block set
