I've just caught something but it's  way too heavy I can't pull it up so I   have asked Mike to help. what have I  what have I got there oh my gosh what is it in February of 2024 I traveled to the town  of Windsor in the UK to meet up with the peaky   dippers a group of friends and magnet Fishers and  there in the shadow of Windsor Castle no less I   learned what magnet fishing is all about and what  we might hope to find beneath the surface of the water we're magnet fishers but  we we love the history side of it people   people are happy pulling bits and bobs out but we are after the the proper old history I've   had a noise Cannon out Nicola I've had bombs  grenades guns we had the biggest gun haul in magnet fishing magnific we had over 60 guns from one Bridge um  and they were all World War II guns as well not   like all modern stuff so it was nice to see  them and it was an experience pulling them   out but then they had to be disposed of and  cannon balls! Im known as the cannon ball boy! here's Mike having his coffee morning  all! Welcome to Windsor Your Missus just brought me a coffee down it's  down there by Nichola so I better go and get   it haven't I so yeah we're on the beautiful  part of the Thames today uh we're get we're   peaking a lot of interest as you can see so  that's good magnet's away as Bondi would say   good casting well my first throw resulted  in a coin look oo that is a strong magnet   wow you can really feel the pull and it  looks like did you see that watch woo wow   that's a strong magnet um that looks like um  a uh is that a 5p yeah I think it's a modern 5p wow Marie's pretty good at this um that's   such a bad question isn't it everybody asks me  that yeah I had a really nice Bayonet that's my favourite - really yeah a bayonet yeah cannonballs  you know things like that with the nice nice bit   of History love our history so I've just caught  something but it's way too heavy I can't pull it   up so I have asked Mike to help. what have  I what have I got there is it like an anvil chain could go through there   okay well interesting do you reckon it's worth  keeping then Mike be worth just just clean it   up a bit what's writing on here see what do you  think there's some lettering okay all right well   um that'll be fun fun to carry back we'll get  we'll get the on well Marie's getting hammered   hey just got a nice Hammerhead and uh a little  um little adjustable spanner look like a looks   like a dinosaur that' be quite a good uh like an  artwork if you had like some yeah like a little   scenery how's Nick doing you right you found a  big lamp hav't you yeah I have actually I found   a very well the magnet found a very very large  chunk of metal there quite interesting looking I   had to get mic to come and pull it out actually  because it was a bit too heavy yeah it's like a   decorative fin or something you might be able to  TI like clean it up in your main cave why do I   have to do nominating me to clean our fines for  her okay if you carry it I'll clean it as's that sound Rusty what have you pulled out we've got a  World War II here uh antler handled knife oh my   goodness the remains of one you can just make  out the antler yes antler and sizes as   you'll know so and these are very collectible  as well so that'll be going back to be saved   as well and see just by that Swan how fast the  current is today really struggling to get out that River I've got um a knife under all of that  cruddy stuff there is some knife there little   pen knife I'm not sure how easy that will be  to clean off but might keep it underne well   I've had a few coins out so far but they're  all modern ones look there and I've just got   um a another modern coin here and oh you got  boat plaque got a buckle and oh somebody's   got a boat plaque who's got a boat plaque oh  let's go and have a look at the boat plaque oh2 oh fantastic isn't that great is that the  first one you found yeah my bucket list try and   get one yeah available until first December  1932 fabulous congratulations thank you have   you found anything else today just a old lock  I want to try and find a key a key okay key   that's on the bucket list great I'd love to find  one of those as well well done just wants a good clean hello hello you're looking very beautiful  oh very Majestic well you hit the jackpot there   I know that's one off just got Str likey good  luck thank you so obviously we're finding lots   of coins today because they're magnetic they're  only one PS and two PS and the old five and 10   but what the uh pey Dippers have done set up this  little uh Acorn children's hospice charity so any   money that we find guess donate to these guys  every little helps Marie's just uh pulled this   out what's that Marie's just brought these up  she's just found a nice little old padlock oh   yes but this is what's known as a pigtail World  War I they were in they were brought out in World   War I and used in World War II as well and uh if  you've ever seen the beaches of Normandy they were   lined up in their Millions with bar going through  them oh okay and this is what they used to uh put   in the middle of No Man's Land as well gosh you  just never know what's going to come out of this   River do you believe it or not they're very  collectible as well are they will you clean   that up yes definitely okay Lov defitely they  usually come quite long yeah CU they have to go   in the ground and then like I they put bar wire  all the way through them and it's well as we all   know it's to stop infantry Crossing No Man's Land  Fab and you found something interesting over there   actually I noticed that round thing that this is  unusual I've never had one of these before so this   will go back to be cleaned up it's a mold of some  kind with a number six in the middle yeah I'm not   sure if it's for shot or it's not heavy duty  enough to be Cannonball mold but it's certainly okay yeah so this will be preserved and go back  and be cleaned up and researched fascinating very   much so we like Mi like this well I just got a  little tiny heart very small little metal heart   your heart is with the T it is it is look isn't  that lovely it's really cute so a little heart   which I'll put in my pocket unfortunately one  of the magnets is stuck just there but there's   Mike pulling out some Treasures oh my gosh I can  see all the coins you've got there see all those coins can I come and have a look let me just climb  over this spiky fence great risk to myself oh look   at that look all those coins do you think people  throw them in off the bridge for I think well   you throw them back in um we collect for charity  that's great so all the good ones up theity box   it all adds up yeah of course it does we raised  about £8,000 last year that's amazing well done so   those will go in the charity box then these will  all go into a charity box fabulous obviously the   ones like this one yeah that's not so good that's  not so good so it be thrown in a be yeah but oh   that's super and you've got a whole load more over  there on the ground great work thank you well I'm   going to go and have another go now yeah good and  you know the amazing thing is as well that you've   actually bought a little tea station along so  there's tea and refreshments and we got cakes for   L Cakes as well this is just like that in fact that's rather like a sort  of Modern Art sort of assemblage wouldn't you say   yeah it looks a bit like Simon so we've got part  of a fishing lure I'm going yeah I'm going to be   able to use that I like that is there anything  else on there few Nails there just some Modern   Nails uh some hookie things I wasn't sure if that  was part of a key or so yeah that's going to have   a hook on it oh there it is yes have to be really  careful with that but I'm going to take that I   like that fantastic so you're putting all the  detritus in there yeah yeah and then that will   be collected later and disposed of yes we've  got a scrapman already pre-booked really yeah   he'll be down either later today or first thing  in the morning to collect all of the scrap yeah   so that'll all go for recycling we've got an  alloe and so I've been told across the river   here is to be an old Civil War Bridge uh so yeah  some nice little all shoes coming off and I've got that there is an offering just s it up and  show them sorry uh yeah that would have gone onto   a a necklace that would have gone on to a necklace  and the prayer would have been inside s little a show Simon oh look what you've got a boat plaque as  well you talking about that oh no yeah boat plaque   oh fabulous 23 1923 what's the month is there  a month on there December 1923 like almost 100   years will actually be 22 then theoretically  because they found them away on December 31st   almost 100 years old yeah isn't that incredible  yeah well it is 100 is it cuz we're in now oh   yeah of course we joined the boat pla Club  B black Club 1911 oh that's the earliest one   yet 1911 cool that's brilliant it's really good  actually let's have a look what does it say on the outside oh you read it it's got penalty for using something a boat maybe a boat Maybe  maybe a boat plaque with the wrong boat on   or something like that that will clean up right  though yes well done that's probably the best one   yet oh it's a fall it's they're very rare so  you've got basically that is a 191110 foring   so 191110 a lot of money yeah exactly so that  is actually a fine um I've only found two of   those lovely well  done yeah the first thing I noticed though   I hadn't actually noticed the bat FL was this  lies round here oh yeah that's an early one I   think cuz it's like a soft tip like a yeah so  I mean to be honest I'm just going to throw it   back in yeah going to throw it in the middle  of the river do you want to watch go for it ready there she go let's see if there's anything  else here on my lovely haul that I got there is   a penny oh well that can go in the oh what's  that oh don't know top of uh champagne thing   a great big nail and yeah lots and lots of  um Nails nail stuff well you got the prize   fine so far really pleased with that  boat pla yeah very very happy what a buz yeah please somebody just pulled that out I think  it's off like a I think B stove or something   I say it looks like an oven door for for a b not  so it's it's not rock hard if it's all say off a   sa probably more off in front of a cooker of some  kind yeah well Simon's only gone and found another   boat black I think I have I think I have a little  spot just out there oh it's very crudded up little   little crustation let's get him back in the water  yeah put him back in his home clean up seen   some photos but uh wa to see congratulations  second one and what are you doing there so   what we're doing now is we rather than leaving  it till the end of the day and there's tons of   scrap yeah what we do is just move it along  as we go along put it into bags then we found   our scrap man and he'll come and dispose of it  right okay keep the uh the to pass to basically   oh if you got a tin biscuit there H Tony I've  never seen that one before yeah I must admit but keys and oh yeah Goodness Me  bits of everything in there is everything there we go guys another B plaque all the moon because as you've seen boy WIS   the castle but look look at that for an old key  absolutely beautiful that that's going to be fun   cleaning that up yes I I'll leave that to clean  up so where did that come from I wonder what that   used to lock up never know there's a castle just  there so there is never know winds a castle not   far away that's beautiful I would be so happy to  find something like that well done I love the way   that we're all splattered in mud now yeah oh yeah  we're caked yeah it's nice to have a show when you   get out and you order yourself some takeway food  and you can just relax for the night yeah amazing   that's got to be F of the day isn't it that is  yeah for for us have you seen that key isn't it incredible okay there's something on my magnet  but it's just too heavy so we've pulled in   reinforcements to see what it is and so Glenn  has oh what is it oh my Lord what is that oh is   it just a big big lump of iron oh is it oh is  it pass of the Railway oh my gosh that's quite interesting this is when Simon  goes flying into the river one two three just need that lean hour a bit more fer side that's got it will the scrap man want to  have toes watch your toes lift it down man no wonder was another wait show strong  that magnetic that's the old extreme is it yeah   heathing stra and that is one big white yeah  see what you've been waiting a while I've   been waiting quite a while I think I need  to rush up on me magnet fishing skills do   you always bring such an incredible lunch  with you when you come magnet fishing not   always KY usually bring some mouses [Laughter]  because honestly we there's so much amazing food   look there's there's kiche and sausage rolls  and some Moses and crisps and bread and tea rolls thank you so much it's it does actually work  up your appetite doesn't it yeah I'm starving wow   great I'm going to have a pie ke help yourself  you want in there there crisp and oh thank you   K oh yes lovely rely on the dogs now and so this  is the charity that you put the coinage in all the   coins go to this charity which is acorns which is  for a children's hospice let me demonstrate yeah   there's three children's hospes around the around  the West Midlands area uh we've done two toy   drives for them haven't we yes that's amazing so  what we'll be doing soon we on our Channel we'll   be launching um what it's called the toy drive so  the sooner we can start it in the year the better   because we colate all the presents that people  buy off the wish list and send to Steve but at   Christmas we'll go along just take them all to the  children so so do you buy the toys no we we get   the hospices to come pile a wish list of the toys  that they want can be sensory equipment and things   like that they all get delivered to us as as we're  raising them through our Channel and then take   them all down to one of the hospitals in the west  mland and and the money that you use is the money   that you find magnet fishing sometimes sometimes  we get people at the at the Riverside who want   to donate as well so and people can go on to the  Amazon and they buy what they want and fabulous fabulous oh my go so ni has come in this spot not  really she's got another boat plaque can you read   the date on it um I think this one is 1932 193  the same one I got I think yeah excellent oh   that's pretty cool you probably dis lodged that  cuz we had like really big down here we going try   and get it up later I changed my my um strategy  instead of throwing it in I'm just actually going   right just down here you're just yeah going foot  out instead of really far what on number two back   number two so I've been missing all my Parcels  coming to my door because the doorbell has lost   its battery on my door and I've just found the  damn battery but that's not going to work is it well that's a meat that's an old meat hook that  what is it for hauling hauling meat and ice and things World War II belt buckle or Web book that's a big lock P out a padlock SP modern padlock and  pull there to foil oh bent on the end got   one that's got a bend on in but but it's  uh too exact to be done in the water so now Marie you have found something quite  interesting I believe when you were magnet   fishing I did which I for you today ni so I want  you to have it can you show us it please and I've   never seen anything like it to be honest and you  know all about your your pipes oh my gosh it's a   metal pipe a metal clay pipe yeah you can see it  has got the patterning around yes it has now that   is absolutely extraordinary I have never seen  a metal clay pipe and yeah you're right that's   a Victorian style it's got those sort of fluted  bits there or gun and definitely Victorian style   and it's it's metal so that is so interesting  I wonder what I know it was used for I mean I   can't see it being for display um display purposes  why would they use metal n I'm really hoping you   can find some information on it and tell us all  okay we'll do well thank you so much I'm really   honored that you've gifted me this you're you're  more than welcome and um yeah right let's find   out some more about it forward to that might need  two years to carry this bag wow look at all this   all fished out of the river with the magnets all  you we've got a scrapman local scrapman coming for   it so he'll come we'll help load everything up  and then it gets recycl so so when will he come   like tonight or tomorrow we've got him for this  afternoon light is tomorrow morning right cuz   I always say if I can't get there today I won't  be there tomorrow but yeah I should imagine this   area it come quite quick yeah well look at all  that good work eh excellent teamwork well it's   come to the end of the magnet fishing afternoon  we've had such a great time thank you so much   for inviting us to do this it's been absolutely  brilliant so what do you reckon then which are   the fines of the day you you C that very nicely  definitely yours uh because I pulled over a 100   B PLS out and that one being a f i' I've had  100 B PL and probably three of f ones so to   find the few B packs we found to die and you got  a f in that's really good that's an old one yeah   that's a one wow I made a river offering a river  offering of a very expensive magnet oh you did   yeah that's a shame but and you that's life that's  what happens you lost magnets lost one Marie's key   as well that's got to be up there on the top  finds are you happy with your day you found   a boat plaque as well and that was on your wish  list wasn't it on my wish list so please go over   and follow pey differs on YouTube because as you  can see these are the most delightful wonderful   people honestly we've had such a fantastic time  and it's been really lovely spending today in   your marvelous company and they Supply cake  and nibbles yeah they really do tell you what   turn around so I can see your YouTube channel on  you that's right the peaky dippers there we are   look peaky Dippers look at those per [Laughter]  buttocks so there's um Simon's magnet which is   stuck in the water you can to have a last go and  see if you can get it out by some kind of amazing Miracle think positive sorry [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] no not going to happen oh what a shame oh well they tried oh I feel like half the man oh half  a MAG like magnet half a man oh magnet mag   maget half a magnet yeah well there's no magnet  now but the pis have reassured me they're going   to call in their contacts they get a few other  magnet experts down here with maget and cranes   and all sorts and get it out for me so watch  this space and we'll we'll let you know if if   they're successful okay but that is just a sad  reminder of the fact that you just have to be   very very careful when you throw your magnet  in the river Simon you're so self-righteous   aren't you how many times do you get snagged  up today Nick quite a few happens to the best   of us this is like this is like a a break it  in ceremony it always it always happens to   someone's got to have there lose their magnet at  some point and today it was me well I've never   lost one but it is a I've lost three yeah  mag he's the magnic we call him the magnic   I'm in a new yeah 600 quids in one go ouch ouch  worst of all it was Glenn's magnet that he gave me he almost lost the one that I gave  him there we go such as life to he W   girl anyone wants to give me magnet  by the way uh yeah I'll give you my [Music] address [Music] hi everyone thank you very much indeed for  watching my video how are you all doing as   always it's great to see you and to spend a bit of  time with you now in my studio talking about The   Marvelous magnet fishing experience with the peaky  dippers and taking a look at one or two of the   objects which came out of the river on my magnet  but before we do that I just want to check in on   you find out how your week or your weekend's  going I hope that you're having a good week   or weekend that you've taken some time out to do  something for yourself that you've done something   that you really enjoy doing that you're in good  health and in good spirits and that all is well   and if it's not well if you're not going through  such a good time put a little comment down in the   comments below and the community of this YouTube  channel is so kind and encouraging I know that   you'll have lots of people that will come and give  you a lift so you'll know that you're not alone so   let's talk about Windsor and magnet fishing and  as well as pulling out some really cool bits of   uh history from the river I also feel like I made  some new friends and I'd like to say another big   thank you to the pey dippers Glenn and Marie Rusty  and Allison Kirsty and Mike for your wonderful   hospitality for the lunch that you provided the  teas and coffees the magnet fishing tuition and   the good laughs um we really had such a fantastic  time it's a shame that Simon had to go back with   out his magnet feeling like half a man but maybe  in the future some magnet fishes in a 100 years   time will find his magnet and they will not know  the story behind it unless they troll back through   YouTube videos and come across the one that um  I've made today but yes uh it was really good   fun and if you haven't yet checked out the piky  dippers YouTube channel can I really encourage you   to do so they've got some really fantastic videos  they found some wonderful things over the years as   Glenn was saying cannons cannonballs beautiful  old street signs all sorts of things and I was   looking at their Facebook page the other day and  saw that they recently found an army dog tag and   they've managed to reunite it with the solders  family so that kind of find for me is just my   dream find and if I go magnet fishing again which  I hope I do um I would love to find a dog tag like   that but let's have a look at what I did find in  Windsor firstly a few words about about Windsor   itself it's such a historical place so it was a  really good place to experience my first magnet   fishing outing it's home to the world's largest  and oldest inhabited Castle Windsor Castle which   has been home to Kings and Queens for almost 1,000  years it was William the Conqueror in the 11th   century who chose the spot where wind a castle was  built on this hill overlooking the river temps and   of course more recently Queen Elizabeth II was  buried at Windsor Castle in the King George V 6's   Memorial Chapel alongside the Duke of Edinburgh  her husband her sister and her parents and also   just a little bit of miscellaneous information is  that during World War II when Princess Elizabeth   and Princess Margaret were living at wind winds  a castle when there was a bomb scare apparently   they used to go down and sleep in the dungeon and  then Windsor Town itself a little bit of history   as well associated with that Shakespeare was  staying apparently at the gter in when he wrote   the merry wives of Windsor and then that play  was performed for Queen Elizabeth the first in   the grounds of Windsor Castle so there you go all  sorts of wonderful facts about Windsor that maybe   you didn't know I didn't anyway well I did know  that Queen Elizabeth second was buried there but   I didn't know the other facts so let's take a  look at some of the things that came out now I   don't have them all here that massive big thing  that I had to get Mike to pull out of the river   um I still don't know what that is I have had a  little go at cleaning it up but I couldn't see   any lettering on it it's so massively heavy that  it's actually actually still outside at the moment   the other very heavy thing that you saw the guys  pull out not the the railway track bit the long   thing but um the the smaller large object um that  apparently I found out today is from the inside   of a very large Bell so that would have come out  of a a pretty large clock tower at some time in   the past and I mean when you think about it all  the history that's associated with Windsor I mean   goodness me who knows what's at the bottom of that  River one thing we do know is that there are lots   of boat plaques in that River because we pulled  out during that outing at least six and I got   the oldest one wouldn't you know it's from 1911  a plaque issued by the TS Conservancy to be put   on the inside of a boat and as you can see if a  plaque was not purchased and you were checked you   would get A1 fine so that is pretty cool that it's  a really old one the other one I found is from   1932 and it's still got lots of BS of um River  stuck to it actually on the back there I haven't   done a very good job of cleaning these up but  luckily the PE Dippers gave me a present of two um   boat plaques which are in a lot better condition  than mine so you can get a lot better idea of what   they looked like and here they are so back in the  sort of early 1900s particularly boating on the   temps was so so popular and there would have been  lots and lots of boats around Windsor pleasure   boats and Rowing boats little motor boats Etc and  they would all have had these plaques and then at   the end of the year the plaques were taken off  the boats apparently and as Glenn said they were   all then skimmed into the river so I'm sure that  there must be hundreds of them down there I did   try and clean up this knife I didn't make a very  successful job of it but it's interesting to see   that the blade actually still works after all  the time that it's spent in the bottom of the   river I think my favorite find really apart from  the 1911 plaque is definitely Marie's key because   when you find a key you can't help wondering what  it used to uh lock up I've got a few keys that I   found in the river temps but I've never found  one that big and actually talking of keys I'm   actually wearing my key necklace today and this  was gifted to me by veteran mudlock gram do and   this is a 13th or 14th century key I think  and so really really special so gr if you're   watching thank you very much thank you very much  indeed so um those are the only finds I'm actually   going to talk to you about that you saw me pull  out of the river and if you want to go and take   a look at the pey dippers YouTube video of the  same outing which they put out this week just   gone uh they go into some more detail about some  of the objects which came out of the river but I   am going to mention to you or I am going to show  you this pipe again because I'd love your thoughts   on it this metal clay pipe which Marie found I  mean honestly can you imagine pulling that out   of the river I would I wouldn't have believed it  if it had been me a metal pipe Marie kindly gave   this to me and it's the first metal pipe that I  have in my collection it's in in the style of a   Victorian pipe and I've actually found one in my  collection which looks very similar I'll hold it   up next to it it's got the same kind of ribbed  sort of bits there a ribbed pattern that goes   halfway up the ball and also kind of like a little  bit that goes around the stem let me see if I can   hold it a little bit better there you see they're  very similar looking aren't they and very similar   shape so what is this all about what did it come  from was it a display somebody suggested a pipe   tamper but it's a bit heavy for a pipe tamper  somebody also suggested a toy but it's it's very   heavy for a toy it definitely wasn't to smoke did  it come off a statue was it part of the molding   process I had wanded about that because of course  clay pipes such as this would be made in a metal mold but so far I have not found the answer so  if you have the answer please please enlighten   us and let us know now as you saw the pey differs  also support a charity and it's the acorn hospice   charity and if you would like to donate to the  acorn charity or if you'd like to purchase a toy   for their toy drive there is an Amazon wish list  and I'll put all the links in the description of   this video um and of course all the details are  also on the Facebook page and the YouTube channel   of the peaky dippers it's it's really great  work and it's wonderful that they've raised   so much for charity doing something that they  love also also magnet fishing is such a great   way of clearing up the river you only really  saw about half of what we pulled out there's   so much metal that's a real threat to Nature and  Wildlife and the environment and so Not only was   it a fabulous day finding pieces of history but  it was also very very productive in terms of   clearing up so I think that's pretty much it  from me please go and subscribe to the peaky   dippers I'd love it if their Channel could have  a real boost and also if you have any questions   about magnet fishing that you want to ask them  then I'm sure they'd be very very happy to answer   one of the things I did talk to Rusty about was  the issue of responsible magnet fishing um and   that's very important of course everything that  they find of historical value or historical um   importance is reported to the museum and of  course they clear up after themselves as you   saw everything was put into bags and buckets  and then left there in a very obvious place   for the scrap man and it's really important in  everything that we do whether that's mud lcking   or magnet fishing or metal detecting to do it in  a really responsible manner so on that note I am   going to say thank you to to all of you once more  for watching my video and for all your support I   really appreciate each and every one of you thank  you to everybody who supports me on Kofi and on   Super Chat I really really appreciate every  one of your donations and thank you for being   yourselves and for being the kind and engaging  community that you are it's so important and it   makes a really big difference so thank you and I'm  looking forward to being back again soon with more   Adventures looking for Treasures whether that  be mud lcking or detecting or bottle digging or   magnet fishing I'm going to add that to the  to the list now and um yeah and seeing your   lovely faces all over again so in the meantime  I'm sending you lots of love take care and bye [Music] [Music] [Music] yeah
