it is time to rank the top wide receiver prospects in the 2024 NFL draft 14 of them in fact Hayden you and I have gone through or will make 10minute videos Prospect profiles on every single name that we have covered so far those have where they win what they need to work on player comps numbers that matter all that stuff so all of you should go and watch those but that's very different than actually stacking the board and ranking them of how we would draft them so that makes today's ation so much fun because I have no idea what your top 14 is going to be and then after the draft ends we'll have a live stream for day one as well we'll also kind of update the fantasy implications of these rankings because obviously landing spot matters so this is how I'm viewing it if I was drafting a team in general this is about the order that I would do that what can go wrong what can go wrong again I have no idea what H rankings are and vice versa I asked all of you how you prefer these types of videos either 1 to4 or 14 to1 and you all picked the latter which I appreciate because you want some new names so Hayden I'll let you kick this off who is your 14th ranked wide receiver in the 2024 NFL draft out of Michigan Roman Wilson I think he's going to be a slot only type of player was able to go on the outside at times in Michigan's offense because he Ed a lot of two tight end sets I think his lack of uh catch radius works against him is going to keep him in the slot he's not as elusive as like the typical slot wide receiver like comparing him to like Wale Robinson for example only forced nine missed tackles on 107 career receptions the optimistic angle on Roman Wilson is he's got actual straight line speed 441 140 um so he can actually work downfield he's not going to be Christian Kirk who actually thought was able to win on the perimeter at times just has a bigger catch radius he's really good on these Crossing routes they used him at Michigan on the scheme touches some of the priest that motion stuff like Aman Ross a brown I don't think that he has the physicality and catch radius that Aman Ross St Brown has so uh slot only receiver for me but I do think that he is a pretty reliable kind of Target I think that he'll be a three wide receiver set starter uh from day one the man from Hawaii he turns 23 years old this June Roman Wilson is not a top 14 wide receiver from where for me he is just outside of it 5'11 185 pounds as you said and really where he won at Michigan was starting on one side of the field in the slot and working on these Crossing routes over and over and over again uh I am just afraid of what his game is beyond that and in this Michigan offense I actually didn't see a lot of like multiple breaking routes these hop skip and a jump bunny route Jitterbug type slot receiver stuff that we see winning in the league over and over in like that one to nine yard range um so I do wonder if that is in his bag if he's able to turn that into something he can do at the NFL level because like you said he has all of like the metrics that you want for a slot wide receiver I just didn't see that typical slot usage yeah obviously that's where he got his targets but in terms of how he created his separation at the college game yep I think he's going to be really reliable only dropped 2% of his targets 78% of his catchable targets went for first down so a very efficient player when he got the ball in his hands but I think we're seeing the same type of limitations I believe most people have Roman Wilson higher than 14 so the fact that he's my 14 he's actually off your 14 kind of means that we're a little bit lower on him than the consensus my 14th ranked wide receiver Jaylen pulk out of Washington 6'1 203 pounds what you see is what you get to me a strong slot player who has really concise movements now because of how Washington's offense was built over the last couple Seasons under Ryan grub just 25 Targets this past year from one to nine yards out of 113 and so it makes the projection I think a little difficult from a again production element because everything in that husk offense was pushed down the field just big play after big play and he was quite productive in that and was able to work in that 10 to 25 yard range adequately but I did see elements of his game where he can be a two wide receiver set player but most certainly was going to make his Mark in the NFL as like a Tyler boyish uh slot wide receiver again mostly in that one to n yard range despite where he caught so many of his passes at the college level right I had Josh Palmer and Rashid rice as some of my comps for Jaylen pul he's actually my wide receiver 15 so right off of my list and he's got this kind of gritty style was able to win at in some contested catch situations right I just didn't think that he had like the true athletic traits to like really push him up there but someone like Josh Palmer who I think eventually is gonna get a big bag I do think he's gonna be out on the field and be a productive reliable type of guy I should see like the upside to be like an elite number two receiver or something like that again attacks the football in his hands he's one of those slot guys I think that will be in the league for like a while and maybe his production is going to be reliant on how good the team he lands in is like if they're a bottom seven offense in the league then you're going to see him around maybe that 500 yard range but if they're a top seven passing offense in the league he could hover around 700 800 900 yards he did disappear in a game here there and that certainly wasn't a Romo dun thing but yeah I just thought that his traits fit that standard slot roll that yes there's some of these in fre agency every year there's some of these in the NFL draft but that felt comfortable enough for me to place him as a 14th best wide receiver in this class all right going up to my number 13 Germaine Burton out of Alabama W I don't think he's going to get drafted in the late second round which is where I have him there are some uh character concerns with Jermaine Burton uh he's actually been at six different schools in the last eight years he was bouncing around uh at College from Georgia Alabama also did the same thing at high school so I don't have all the answers I do know when I put on his tape I was pretty impressed uh he's a very good athlete 95th percentile jumping ability he was a low volume deep threat at Alabama 20 yards was his average depth of Target he didn't get the intermediate and underneath stuff as often but that's also with a very unique Alabama offense because of the quarterback 0% drop rate I thought that he had this like leaping sideline ability uh he can play on the outside 80% of his snaps were on the perimeter uh but I thought that he just had a little bit more physicality and a little bit more thickness to him than the typical like low volume deep threat so I have no idea where he's going to go on the field I do know if he does get a chance that I do think he's going to be a pretty productive kind of low volume threat but there's also times at Alabama where he would take take an in-breaking route absolutely obliterate the safety and then walk into the enzen so uh I liked what I saw on I can't explain anything beyond that could you see him as a vertical slot player possibly but he did win on the outside yes uh frequently so I do think that he can be in the two wide receiver sets I think if everything goes its way Michael Gallop was a comp Tory Smith Darius Slayton so those are like the outside versions of this if he does kick inside I think that he can win there because he does win in contested situations I do think that he can like bounce off Defender so uh we'll see what happens here I thought his film was was pretty intriguing yeah I think 52 of his 61 Targets this past season were outside versus the slot um and then from that outside alignment he had 19 targets of 20 plus yards and that's where I saw his speed it is fascinating to me that you go from Georgia to Alabama and like that's okay in today's college football we've actually seen this quite a bit from these big programs to Big programs um going from one to the other there's a lot of connective tissue between the two and it's pretty clear he can probably be coached you know like I don't think Alabama accepts a dude if he does poorly to coaching because at Georgia it was the exact same thing so I am with you to the degree of I wonder if that there is just untap potential here that we haven't seen and especially this version of Alabama is very different than the Bryce young Alabama where this quarterback was all athlete Big Arm throw down the field and not too much in between in terming in terms of timing and Rhythm aspects and so if he does go to one of those offenses I do wonder if we're going to see another layer another element of his game but I think that's just a question that can't be answered at this moment totally agree I'm assuming he's not in your top 14 he's not in many of the top 14s no he he was right in the edge I was considering him as my 14th wide receiver along with Roman Wilson my 13th wide receiver Keon Coleman out of Florida State um this is not about Keon Coleman's 4 six whatever 40 time versus GPS and the debates that you see on Twitter this is all about his inability to create separation and we talked about it in our 13-minute video on Keon Coleman hopefully you all have watched that on the channel if not hit that subscribe button we have so much good content ahead of and through the NFL draft so hit that button so we can do more of it um we talked about it there that he's more of an early separator versus a late separator in her in his routes and because of that you brought up this potential big slot roll for Keon Coleman and then Matt Harmon posted a video on the career path of players who struggle to create separation similarly to Keon Coleman and how their career Arc has turned into and the ones that became successful were either athletic smaller deep threat wide receivers or big slot players and those big slots have been Alman Ross St Brown Cooper cup juus mster rash rice Tyler Boyd go and watch that Matt Haron video if you have not so like if you think that he can become this big slot player that is that is awesome I just have questions because he's had 31 targets out of the slot over the last two years and I just have more confidence in the strengths of other prospects that are ranked above him where they've already want the college level and that translating to the NFL versus his reduction in his athletic traits he is being in rankings drafted way ahead of kind of this typical profile there's I keep com back there's something about this his game where I think that he's pretty fluid on tape he obviously can make some incredible contested situations it's hard to find somebody as big as Keon Coleman and also he has some special teams production on top of that so I have him a little bit higher as my wide receiver 10 but I think a lot of people have him even higher than that and just really hard to kind of make this translation and and you're hoping that he's going to do that but some comps gu guu mohammd senu those would be like your big slot type of guys I think he could do some dirty work Gabe Davis stuff uh who's not a big separator out there but I was hoping that he was gon to be a number one wide receiver I think most likely he's going to be a number two or number three out there yeah and again just because you have a 46140 doesn't mean you're a bad athlete like he had 79th and 83rd percentile jumps to me he's actually a a a good athlete um I just struggled watching him struggle to create space and I think space creation translates to the league and if not it's why we always talk about contested catch rates not being sticky because we've seen the best contested catch players in the league have some years where they win 40% of theirs yep and then another year have 70% and they're the same exact player and in fact I I see Keon Coleman's contested targets talked about all the time and it as a bad thing again we talked about this in his singular Prospect profile um the second half of the Season he was being thrown targets that were just brutal like just unfair situations for him um and he's not going to be the screen guy like he was in college in the NFL so again I am very aware of the positives that people throw out there uh trying to flip his negatives it just comes back to me of I have been very wary of prospects in the past that kind of live in this phone booth game right nikil Harry is an example went the first round and those sometimes work but they frequently do not and when they do work it's a transitional like phase of their game into a power slot role as you and Matt Haron have said and I agreed like his fluidity that could be really fun we just haven't seen him really be a power slot so far so again it's just a bunch of jumps and leaps that you have to make in order for me for Keon Coleman to be a top 10 wide receiver in this class yep uh I it's a loaded group I know in a different class we' be a little bit more bullish on it but there's some really good players in here my next name is Xavier Legette and I wanted to move him higher and I'm sure that you'll have him higher and it's kind of the same type of thing just a late breakout is always going to be a little bit concerning now when he did break out 105 yards per game 3.2 yards per route run also really dynamic in the kick return that's a good starting point so in another class he would be a little bit higher he did make some plays in contested situations downfield on occasion there was a couple times where I did think that he can kind of really take off yards after the catch wise like on a on a Crossing route but I think that what I liked him the best was kind of this like Gadget type of player uh he's no Debo Samuel because he's just not nearly as agile as Debo Samuel there's a little bit of Cordell Patterson to his game including the special team stuff so I can see the upside there there was just something about his hands some of the timing that I just am kind of struggling with so he's going to be a 23y old and just kind of hard to imagine him really taking off from that but great athlete great production this last year definitely rooting for him uh everyone should go uh kind of read up on Xavier lett's background we did in our video as well um so definitely rooting for him and I would understand why somebody would rank him even higher than this zavier Legette is my number nine wide receiver in this class put him on the Rashid rice program you know like get the ball in his hands on simple Crossing routes working from one side of the formation to the other and just see what he creates in those environments now not every team is going to be as structurally built and as solid as the Kansas City Chiefs are with that level of quarterback they're just going to allow kind of a player to learn on the Fly I will add though on top of it there were a dozen plays where I saw him lean into his opposition versus tight coverage then snap inside to create that sliver of separation and make a catch in between the numbers and in between the marks at the college level there are again moments of more than just pure athlete stuff but it like you said took until his fifth year I went back and watched so many of his Targets in his first four years and it was partially him as a reason why he wasn't able to stay on the field because so many of like the targets that were go in his direction would get tipped and then intercepted just the consistency elements were there but then I can't get over what he did in his final season of 33 catches of 15 plus yards and just took over games and it started that first game against North Carolina and carried on throughout his entire season so sure am I swing for the fences a bit here with zette yes but um in a class that is loaded with really good players I think zette has like a chance to be a true differen maker yeah I I totally agree he just needs to catch up on some of like the bobbled catches he would have I thought he took some really odd angles after the catch he's still in work in progress as a route Runner so clean all that stuff and you can really take off here but I I am with you a lot of these like kind of Gadget slot wide receivers and stuff I left them off my top 14 I'm prioritizing some of the upside play so obviously Xavier Legette is part of that range there's a couple guys that are a little bit more productive or younger and I kind of like that combination a little bit more my number 12 wide receiver Johnny Wilson coming out of Florida State this was one of the most fun viewing experiences I've had during this entire draft process early on during his final season at FSU he was legit winning with his feet I mean he was winning with like crazy body control and just movements in his routes early on that is wild to do for a 6 foot6 Plus 230 pound plus wide receiver and then something clicked in the Clemson game that he started incorporating his size a little bit more as a wide receiver hand use pushing off winning contested situations and it just put me in like this fun Journey because you hear about once they get to League or in college this year-to-year leap we always talk about it with first year wide receivers the second year wide receivers this was legit actual game- to game progression that you were seeing from Johnny Wilson so I understand that he's not going to be in everyone's top 15 wide receivers heck definitely not top 12 wide receivers but I could not get over of if every element of his game continues to click and go in the right trajectory uh Wilson could be one of those true difference makers in this class or any other he's my wide receiver 11 so I'll raise you up one more on that I saw the same thing I had all these like kind of preconceived uh opinions on Johnny Wilson that he can't separate he's a tight end and I watched the film and I didn't I just didn't see that ever and kind of my appeal with this 6 foot7 230 pounds could run a 4 five 81st percentile broad jumped 82nd percentile short shuttle he's actually kind so muchat fluid all those athletes they're in the NBA they're not on the football field so you can kind of see these like Mar Marquez coulston I don't think he's as straight line uh explosive as like Vincent Jackson was but this is a just one like complete outlier type of profile here and the NFL is largely about outlier athletes and I think that Johnny Wilson is getting all the positive stuff with that and people want to put him into the big slot or a tight end make a tight end no sure he led college football all these prospects we're talking about all of them as the isolated wide receiver in yards per yards per game 52 yards per game as the isolated wide receiver Keon Coleman was not the ex receiver in this offense Johnny Wilson was going up against Corners sometimes running right by them yes and I just saw the upside there now his hands are work in progress they are 3.8 yards after the catch was kind of uh a low bar there the production doesn't make sense he had to transfer from Arizona state to Florida State so some weirdness with this profile but the special talent I just think is there and if he hits I think out of all these guys I think there's kind of a cap to these ceilings they could be number two number three I think Johnny Wilson like there is a potential where he's like the best wide receiver on the team without question a lot of people are saying let's move him to to tight end one I would say watch him watch him legit run routes as an isolated wide receiver we do see now probably more than ever Titans being isolated as like true ex guys like like you know Darren waller for example Kelsey all this stuff so if you want to do that you can but like never put him in line never put his hand in why why why are we doing this again it's crazy how he was winning in the small game the small wide receiver game early in 2023 and then started developing some of the big game stuff so yeah I I I want a piece I do I really go okay so that was my wide receiver 11 so who's your wide receiver 11 Troy Franklin wide receiver Oregon uh 37 catches of 15 plus yards last season pretty dang good that's out of 84 grabs 44% again of his gains went for 15 plus yards 13.1 ad do and I know he gained around 10 pounds between the NFL combine and his prod day but why I probably am lower on Troy Franklin versus consensus is I'm not nervous about his speed I know some people brought that up as a 441 and they thought he'd run faster it's really the contact in routes and at the catch Point displacing him that I worry most about the number that I cited in his Prospect profile and I'll bring up again here he caught three of 26 tight window Targets in 2023 was much better at that in 2022 but that fits into me with the weaknesses in his game smaller hands going through them going through his body and I just think like the windows get smaller in the league and I worry about that transition for him yeah he's he's my wide receiver ten we see this thing fairly similarly I think his comp is still like Jameson Williams Darnell Mooney Jaylen hayatt Quinton Johnson and I think that this type of skill set is not the first round skill set necessarily just because I do think he's more of just a track star down the field I think that his 40 time would have been better if there was a 60 time I think it takes some buildup time for him to get out there and then he's lightning quick down the field and that's why his numbers were fantastic I'm 92 percentile age adjusted production 3.3 yards per out run beautiful numbers over 20 fantasy points per game in this Oregon offense but I saw the same thing I don't think he trust his hands he can make some highlight grabs out there but you saw this on the gauntlet drill you see these on these Slants and the in-breaking routes he just doesn't have that diamond hands up there and just catching it sometimes gets into his body and sometimes the defender will kind of play right through him so I don't really see a deep difference between Jaylen hayatt and Troy Franklin out there both exceptional athletes both had huge numbers I just think that this kind of like low volume deep threat belongs in like the second round uh even though the Jameson William types have gone round one previously no he did just turned 21 years of age in early February so this is a young guy who was also produced at a really good degree at Oregon but it it was one of those situations where yes there were a handful of plays where he did have inside breaking routes and create space and make tough grabs but it wasn't a large number and again that also directly coincides with my fear that he struggled on those as well like could you see like an Alec Pierce type of outcome here I think he's gonna be a little bit better than that but that's a type of like role where like I didn't see that much wiggle or Separation on these in-breaking routes I think he's going to be kind of on this vertical plane I mean really like I he's Jameson Williams who's like fine for the Lions offense but not anything exceptional in fantasy and I think he's gonna have to kind of stick in this four to six kind of targets per game uh by the way since we are at Hayden's WI receiver 10 and we just came up with that name which was Troy Franklin all of you should be leaving your top 14 or top 10 wide receivers in the comments down below I would love to see them maybe have a name or two that we did not talk about again keep in mind we'll have honorable mentions later on but I would just love to see your list because maybe there's a prospect that we have overlooked and just because they're gonna when one of these guys that we rank low becomes a stud uh they're going to come after us I want to be able to come after you guys and say that you guys were so wrong trust me I will we'll go back to comments yeah don't be scar to guys come on now okay so since Troy Franklin is your wide receiver 10 my wide receiver 10 is Javon Baker wow okay UCF uh he is a downright rude route Runner and I I love me that like love his releases love his body control love his breaks in his routes he makes acrobatic catches away from his body I think this pops up because he also has a 71st percentile Wings space fan something like 6'6 at a 6 foot plus frame um he wants to make Corners look like fools there were times when he won on his first or second or third step the ball went away from him and he turned back and pointed at his opposition was like I got you I got you and there are other times when he beats his same corner twice in the same rep I got Deontay Johnson vibes from watching javante okay I I can see that he when you when I watched him he looks like a player that has the Alabama traits super freaky Athlete on the field because that's where he was at at Alabama before UCF he was winning against Pressman coverage from X receiver running real routes a wide variety of these routes his big plays are sweet the reason why I left him just off my top 14 is there's this little inconsistency to his game I think he's a little bit choppy footed as a route Runner sometimes when it works it really works other times he can get completely clamped down I I was kind of surprised that he was a little bit faster than the 45440 that he ran he's only 202 pounds I think that's totally fine there's a lot of players with that type of build including like Deontay Johnson like you mentioned there a couple of the funniest interceptions bouncing off of his hands into the Defenders that you'll possibly see so uh kind of a boom bust type of player if he turned into Michael Gallup Romeo dos those type of kind of physical ex receivers I would not be surprised I have him as a round three guy I think that he is somebody that the Patriots or bills can kind of slide into the starting line up I like him there I'm just not sure if I saw the the consistency but quite frankly I haven't seen the consistency from Deontay Johnson either he's been productive I knew your reaction when I said that comp and then what I see Nega that yeah some the negatives that you brought up uh it just aligns perfectly then that the comp fits uh I think he has a little dog in him after the catch too definitely does he he has storytelling to his routes which I think compensates for uh a four five plus 40 which you know he's an above average athlete too he's not even a bad athlete he's an above average athlete he's just not one of these freakazoids that we're going to get to later on when talking about this wide receiver position yeah I mean I understand that also his production profile has pointed to people calling him a downfield player I actually loved his intermediate work more again multiple breaking routes or breaking one way or the other after setting up uh his corner to attack that vertical plane um that 5 to n yard range that 10 to 19 yard range even though he did have 34 20 plus yard targets last year uh really intrigued to see what happens with Javon Baker I expect him to be drafted after some of the names that we've already discussed right but I'm excited because he can be a two wide receiver set player for me okay your wide receiver nine is Keon Coleman and just to kind of quickly go over some of the positives uh PFF has this like game speed metric and uh over the last couple years they've been having this on the back end there's been 33 wide receiver starters according to them 28 of them have been in the 80th percentile or faster in this game speed score Keon Coleman is in the 93rd percentile so the game speed there is something there but can I ask about that like when did that pop up do you think it popped up in his route running because it didn't pop up when he created separation no I think there's a little bit of this yards after the catch there's a couple plays where you can kind of see him take off in some ways I think that the his play speed uh there's something to like that Gauntlet drill and I don't want to like keep pointing to this but I think he trusts his hands he can get in and out of his breaks I think he's a reliable receiver in that way so I hope he goes into this power slot role uh maybe he can do like a poor man's version of Drake London but I I I really wanted him to be like my wide receiver five or six but you have to come down because it just he does not create the downfield separation because of like the raw straight line speed but there's it's not just speed it's like how you kind of manipulate that I think there's something to that with Keon Coleman so a little bit higher uh than you on him but I wanted to be a whole lot higher and I just I can't commit to him like that okay so for you drafting for the Huntington Beach hippos okay sure do you draft him as a power slot or do you draft him as basically what he played in college as an outside wide receiver uh I would consider him in the slot if he can if he's better and more explosive than that then I can potentially put him into two wider receiver sets on the outside if it's play action uh two tight end sets I think that you can do that with Keon Coleman but uh I I can see a JuJu Smith Shuster type of skill set from Keon Coleman who was never like the flashiest guy but I always thought like a really reliable physical guy that can win in like the middle parts of the field and if you land with the right quarterback and the right offensive coordinator I do think you can get some production out of him but like you said if he's nikelle Harry as an ex- receiver there's some serious downside risk with him so I think once we know his landing spot I'll be able to make the bull or be case from him pretty easily it's funny we almost flip-flo my wide receiver nine for each of us and that's Savor Legette for me okay um we've already talked about him but again I want to bring up that he caught 71 passes for 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns this season and in fact one of his final catches of the 2022 season was one of his best it's this twisting turning almost one-handed grab that he somehow also gets one foot in bounds against Notre Dame re ridiculous stuff and I also want to add we're talking about wide receivers and we're going to get to this name in a little bit but he is 56 pounds heavier than Xavier worthy and this is why it's funny that we are going 14 to1 on a wide receiver position that we're gonna have two guys that have 56 pounds difference between them uh but yeah 6 foot one 230 plus pounds moving like that that's pretty uncommon final point the negative comparisons that get made are Jonathan Mingo and trayon Burks Jonathan Mingo never had a season that was close to as productive as what um did his final season and then trayon Burks hey if the Tennessee Titans drafted him to do what he did actually well which is the rishy rice program of we're gonna line you up in the slot and get you easy touchdowns and let you Rumble afterwards then I actually think trayon burk's career path outside the injuries might look a little bit different but no they drafted him to replace AJ Brown and to be an X wide receiver when he wasn't really an X wide receiver at Arkansas he's no dvo Samuel but I think like trying to use him in some of those ways and see what kind of sticks I think is like not a bad starting point okay your wide receiver eight okay let me scroll back up here it's Ricky peaw and I think that there's kind of a tier break between the guys we previously talked about and now this kind of top eight I think Ricky peera could really play now he's a 23y old he was back on the Arizona State team I mean this Arizona State team in in yeah we got to we got to get a a Netflix dock uh on this but super athletic 441 in the 40 97th percentile of vertical 96 percentile three cone 90th percentile short subtle so we're talking about like a Julian Edelman like type of athletic comp here I think there's some Jerry Judy to his game Jerry Judy could win on the outside on occasion but more of a slot receiver more of a finesse type of player sometimes can kind of get manhandled in press man coverage because his lack of size but I do like his athletic traits into the slot I thought he was super Shifty he caught 16 of his 17 targets and that zero to 10 yard range he had an 80% success rate out of the slot but even at Florida he wasn't just this kind of manufactured slot player he actually was winning down the field because he is such a positive athlete out there so 6'1 189 out of Florida I think that he can be a really productive player maybe a PPR scam depending on the offense he goes to Ricky peaw is also my wide receiver eight and he fits in as this new age slot wide receiver and you didn't mention what I think separates him from a lot of these dudes is how he adjusts to footballs how he throws his body around in terms of well I mean I love Anthony Richardson sometimes not the most perfectly placed passer ever and it was outstretched it was I am running a Crossing route this way the ball is thrown to my back shoulder and so while I'm moving full speed I am turning my body to it catching it and still able either to get the first down or continue my path there's many many more examples of that and you know he's 6 foot1 189 pounds I understand that like maybe arm length all that stuff makes him look a bit smaller on the field but man he had 26 and 24 15 plus yard gains the last two seasons and as you said it's not this standard Bunny Hop slot wide receiver had an eight out of 11 this past season an eight out of 17 points .3 yards with Anthony richardon were 55 of his 63 targets were 10 plus yards down the field again Christian Kirk is the name that you brought up in the isolated video that we did of Ricky piol as a slot wide receiver but someone that get paid a bunch because he stretches the defense a little bit more love that comparison and how Ricky peaw can immediately fit in the NFL in that role quite frankly I think that his tape was better than this like wide receiver eight ranking I had to give a little bit of a discount because fifth year player he's going to be 23 years old and I don't understand why this was the case but his share of the Florida offense the the receiving offense was only in the 58th percentile among drafted wide receivers so even though we love his tape even last year he wasn't completely dominating in the Box Score so I think there's some questions on why exactly that W that is but with the right offensive coordinator in the right role and the right quarterback I think Ricky Piera can be an absolutely huge success and I I think the Jerry Judy chrisan Kirk these guys getting paid a lot of money even though they're not perfect players I think that there's really no reason Ricky psaw can't become that okay your wide receiver 7 is Xavier worthy and now I have a little bit of like an early round grade here we might be kind of reaching consensus going back and forth obviously 421 speed in the 40 yard dash uh there are some concerns of him kind of playing through traffic obviously the size is the primary reason there I thought that there was a couple times where his ball tracking kind of had some lapses there was a couple times where players our Defenders were kind of playing right through him like he only caught five of his 21 contested opportunities but I just think that the NFL is in a better position to make the most out of Xavier worthy than it's ever been before we talked about the uh the shart motions uh where the Defenders are starting their pants right yeah the cheat motions you're just seeing more variety uh from these offensive coordinators I think that Xavier worthy could kind of play like the Tyreek Hill role obviously Tyreek Hill is so like just physical for his size and Xavier worthy you're not getting that and we're talking about like Hall of Fame level stop start but I did think that Xavier worthy even if he's not like the most pristine route Runner he plays with this Tempo and this body control that really excites me so not the perfect player but the speed is real the tempo I also thought is real and I think that hopefully uh somebody can kind of grind the tape with uh Debo Samuel and Tyreek Hill Jaylen Wadd those type of guys and kind copy paste and see what Xavier worthy can do with it he is also my wide receiver seven and he's more than just speed you know he has that same mentality of I want to play bigger than my 511 165 pound frame will allow me to and that's similar to tank Dell but at some point 165 pounds just limits you naturally you know yep uh he doesn't shy away though to me from middle of the field contact that doesn't mean he's great at it though he doesn't shy away to me when finishing off runs and you see that when when he has a choice of either going out of bounds or trying to win even beyond the sticks and he'll try to Barrel someone over for an extra couple yards or get into the end zone now in many instances that means he's getting belly to back suplexes and landing on the ground awkwardly um he doesn't actively play small he just is small but I like that element of the dog in him and I I like what you're saying where the NFL is now more equipped because of these Innovative play callers and even when Mike McDaniel or laflor or Sean McVey show people these quick out motions in week one by week seven we're seeing Ben Johnson using them yep we're seeing Kell Moore use them you know it's it's not just this tree that's gonna use them now the entire league is if you have a good coordinator is going to be using them in 20124 and the obvious is that he's super fast and that shows up too like if it's off coverage press Bale good luck stopping him and if you take one faal step then there's three yards of Separation created on you yep uh also super productive immediately at Texas now he wasn't competing with anybody his numbers actually kind of dropped off as a Junior once he had ad Mitchell and there's a tight end involved obviously the running backs since like two guys that are going to be ranked within the top 10 wide receivers of this they just take from each other but like Xavier worthy did have a lot of screen catches too you know so it's it's it's an interesting Dynamic and I hear what you're saying about his production profile he's not John Ross he's not two2 out well he's not Marvin Mims Anthony Schwarz I don't think that those guys had the route running Tempo and ability that I've seen with Xavier worthy so hopefully he goes to the right offensive coordinator because I think that he could be a very dangerous number two receiver okay you're wide receiver six Adonai Mitchell out of Texas his teammate and I kept going back and forth ad Mitchell Xavier worthy who do I actually like more and it's just harder to find X receivers so even if ad Mitchell has a kind of Boom bust profile so many teams that are hunting for these wide receivers they're not looking for slot wide receivers it's just easier to find this kind of like uh Tempo speed guy low volume type of threat it's hard to find a true X receiver and even if they're not going to be like 10 targets per game type of guy you just need somebody to stretch the field vertically against press man coverage that has the size and speed combination and that's 80 Mitchell's game 16 average depth of Target 82% of his snaps were outside huge catch radius he has a 92 percentile pops when he's balling he's really balling there's some really special moments with him the consistency is definitely a struggle and that's why his production profile was bad I think that his route running at times is excellent at other times it's Highly Questionable so we have to kind of figure out all that and then after the catch for a guy that runs 4-3 why does he average three yards after the catch I'm not sure but when you see that the highend plays for the position that he's in I do think that ad Mitchell is ultimately still worth the gamble I'm I'm going to call you out because in our I think Xavier worthy video you said you had Xavier worthy ranked over ad Mitchell so basically you can't be wrong in this draft process now based on what a certain video that people are going watch yeah I have both of them early round two grades if you had to draft them in late round one I'm okay with it I just kept going back like the bills and the Patriots and all these teams this is the guy that they're looking for it's easier to find the Xavier worthy type of guy ad I Mitchell is my wide receiver four in this class at 6'2 plus pounds I will obsess and make excuses for any player who also at that size presents this level of body control he levitates he throws his back shoulder away from him on passes that hang in the air thank you Quinn ERS for forcing wide receivers to do this over and over and over again his timing to leap for contested catches I thought was exceptional he plucks the ball out or down away from his frame um going back to his first year at Georgia on team that went to the National Championship that had Brock Bowers and lad makoni and Germaine Burton and all these dudes he lined up as an ex for that team as a three star recruit and then the next year after coming back from a high ankle issue they went right back to him for game-winning moments he had 52 Targets on a team that was loaded with NFL talents so yeah his Yak is non-existent for his entire career but I also think for downfield X wide receivers who had a quarterback that struggled with with placement issues that can be a byproduct of that in some ways but man when you're an exit two premier programs with an easiness and fluidity and body control about your game with separation skills yeah yeah yeah I'm gonna fall in love with you yeah the I think that straight line speed and the body control up in the air it's excellent something I'm I'm keeping an eye out for sometimes he just trips fall is kind of making some breaks I've seen that a couple times from Slants and stuff and I can't explain that exactly and that's maybe one of the small little reasons why I'm kind of like struggling with this type of profile but like George Pickins and AD Mitchell they're not the same they don't win the same ways but these are this boom bust profile in this range and when George pickings hits which I think he's kind of on the trajectory for that that's just such a valuable role so he's got this boom bus profile he's better than the Quinton Johnson those type of receivers so so much better um I just wish I had an answer to why the production just wasn't better beyond the Quinn ERS part of the conversation to your point about tripping there were also times especially when you get down to like 15 10 yard line where in despite those being condens Fields he would leave Corners reaching for air and just totally route them up yep um it was Devonte adamses in just like that one area of the field again I'm gonna fall in love with that and make plenty of excuses when that hits there you go I I have a feeling that you and I have our wide receiver sixes and wide receiver fours flipped because my wide receiver six is Brian Thomas Jr out how dare you LSU a 6 fo3 209 pound freak athlete with a 433 4015 10 yard split 82 percenti vert 79th percenti broad jump when those hit those can lead to outstanding results and I think he's excellent at bucket catches and tracking those and actually does a really good job in did a really good job for Jaden Daniels when despite lining up outside the numbers creating a bit more space with his routes working inside just a little bit to again Target Zone on the outside for these deep downfield targets but you can say this for both Brian Thomas and Malik neighbors that we didn't see a ton of middle of the field work and that goes back to our Jan Daniels profile go and watch that I saw more of that middle of the field work and precision and I thought intriguing route running from Mal neighbors than I did for Brian Thomas Jr but at the same exact time wide receiver six I'm certainly not throwing him in the trash uh I just have maybe a few more questions than other people that might rank him higher well I think he's gonna go like top 17 top 20 in the draft so you will not be able to claim Brian Thomas when he becomes I think as a chance to be a superstar it's just like you said the size speed combination is truly outrageous a lot of guys are labeled as size speed guys they don't actually look and play like Brian Thomas he had 22 deep targets he caught 15 of them 12 touchdowns average 30 yards per attempt on them he didn't run Slants in breing routes often basically never did it's not that he was trying to do them and then wasn't able to do them so I think it's not that he can't do them it's just he's hasn't proven that he's gonna be really good at that I think where you and I saw him differently is I thought when he was running these hitch routes which they ran a lot at LSU you're being put in a position where you have have no momentum you're catching the ball and you're turning up field I thought when he was doing that there were some flashes of his ability to kind of shake and bend and explode where I was like whoa what what was that all about and I think those are the type of athletic traits where when asked to run dig routes uh Etc I think he will be able to do that eventually he's got to clean some things up but he's still only 21 years old scored 17 touchdowns last year so I think Terry mclen DJ Moore are kind of like the type of of players expecting Brian Thomas to be but Brian Thomas is just bigger than those two guys I think that ceiling is actually a little bit higher than them and he actually was running ex receiver routes out there so it goes back to the same conversation with ad Mitchell these two guys should be compared to each other I think I saw uh the consistent explosiveness from Brian Thomas that I saw in flashes with ad Mitchell I just should see it as often as Brian Thomas did his go-to Yak move to me on those hitches was catch it uh turn take like one step back so corner overruns it and then in his first second third steps kind of launch P them right so if that's like your thing then the natur thing do you think he can be DK Mecha obviously Mecha has like 30 pounds on Ryan Thomas but like a big difference in that right but I mean DK meaf didn't have the production Brian Thomas had I mean obviously he was dealing with injuries in college and whatnot but I think over time DK meaf has been able to run a full route tree for the most part I think Brian Thomas could do that I think Brian Thomas is more wiggle the de DK me out so I think there's a huge ceiling attached to Brian Thomas and that's why he's my wide receiver four okay so in between these two who is your wide receiver five it's lad makoni let's go I got a I got a first round grade on lad makoni uh height weight speed where they lined up he's got the same exact measurables as Garrett Wilson and Chris La so I think it's pretty unfair to call him a slot wide receiver only now he can absolutely route people up from the slot if he wants to go inside but he played uh on the outside on 79% of his snaps at Georgia 439 speed and you can really feel it I thought that his agility really came through uh on tape also tested 90th percentile uh in that in terms of per Target basis as good as anybody out there number two in success rate in individual points earned per route the best in the class EPA route best in the class his size does come back to bite him in terms of injuries kind kind of always seems to be dealing with an injury so hopefully we can catch some good luck from him but I thought just in terms of Route running running an outbreaking route in particular snapping guys off uh double moves down the field where Corners don't think that he's as fast as he is I thought he was the best pure route runner in the class now like Marvin uh Harrison is able to do that at 30 pounds 20 pounds heavier but his route running is pristine he can win inside outside I think that in this modern NF I would not be surprised if lad makoni is 100 catches per season thousand yards seven touchdowns yeah lad is also my wider 05 obviously uh shade under six feet 186 pounds he plays with no fat in his game and it's exactly what you're talking about his movements and his routes and afterwards are so intentional the separation at the top of his route is so nice animated Cuts without wasted movement he is an outside wide receiver to me who can then also play in the slot and we see a bunch of those throughout the NFL his route pacing help cells his double moves it's not just mash the turbo button at all times because they need to get from point A to point B again there's a little like storytelling in his routes um and then after the catch he has especially against Zone he's really good at sitting in zone and kind of spatial awareness and feel of okay when I catch it this guy's gonna attack me from this direction so he has that same jsn kind of turn and pick it up but also when he turns and meets a Defender he has and I think Defenders maybe underestimate his athleticism this jab step that points them in this direction and boomy cuts off you and that forces an arm tackle when I'm gonna Barrel right through it um I will add I think he is legit bad in contested situations like this could be a maybe not fatal flaw thing but an area where he struggles now and struggles later on and it's not just because of size or weight or whatever I think he he does have issues in terms of the timing of his leap how high he can get up how he can work through contact in those situations but again how his route running already is at like every level of the field and while I had that same question with Troy Franklin earlier on in this video there're just already elements to Lad M's game that I have not seen from Troy Franklin so far yeah I completely agree I think it's all fair there's a catch radius problem with that and then playing through contact I think there was some elements of that I will say the NFL is becoming a very zone-based defensive game and it's like 70% of of passing plays are against Zone coverage so if you're not good at Zone coverage and having a feel for all that then you're not just going to get the looks very often I think that lad makoni is definitely very very good at that okay so if your wide receiver four is Brian Thomas and my wide receiver four is Adonai Mitchell who is your wide receiver three I went with Rome adun here this top three are fantastic 97th percentile in my model comps include like DeAndre Hopkins Dez Bryant alson Jeffrey courand suon I mean those guys are absolutely dominant uh inside outside versatility obviously the contested catches caught 75% of them uh which is going to regress that's just not a number that you can consistently uh stick with but huge production 109 yards per game vertical based offense so you see some like kind of slot Fades down the field from him you see the X wide receiver routes uh in contested situations I think the only difference between him and the top two guys maybe he's a little bit slower in terms of the straight line speed and that's why maybe he's in to a couple more contested catches than someone like Marvin Harrison Jr is uh but very good route Runner 447 speed 93rd percentile short shuttle it can really do it all and then the other thing is he was a four-year player um versus Malik neighbors and Marvin Harrison and and over time that does make a little bit of a difference uh terms of transitioning he is also my wide receiver three as you said 6' 3 212 PBS he did everything at the combine when no one's doing anything at the combine anymore like he wanted to show off his athleticism in fact he tried to run that three cone 33 times he's still out there um it really is simple legit routes plus Precision plus size plus athleticism is an awesome combination at that X wide receiver spot and he brings that to the table arrogant hands I'm comparing him to Alan Robinson sure now those contested catch numbers that you threw out there I've actually seen seen lately on Twitter being like well why do people get upset when Keon Coleman he has contested targets and not Rod dun just watch just watch them they they do not play the same game when it comes to creating separation in their routes and many times it was uh radun hey he's out there somewhere let's throw it to him and he still won 75 yeah perc of those so like in terms of creating separation to me at all three levels romad dun is like tears of levels above what Coleman brings to the table I don't see Roman dun getting outside of the top nine in fact I can see a team trading up for him because it's this ex receiver role that keeps talking about on this podcast it's so hard to find a guy that could play that role and not only wind downfield he might be more of the Devonte Adams type where he can win at all parts of the field I think that DeAndre Hopkins is like a a pretty uh pretty straightforward comparison for him okay do we have the same wide receiver too I have Malik neighbors here um I do think there is in a debate here the difference between the two Malik neighbors obviously so explosive truly just dumb explosive the numbers are totally ridiculous Malik neighbors just was a a vertical slot wide receiver for a lot of those plays and I think that's just a little bit uh there's a little bit more of a projection that we're going to have to kind of deal with um when he does translate to the outside I don't think it's going to be a problem my comps Jamar Chase Odell Beckham jayen Wadd those are number one wide receivers they're not the biggest guys uh they're not the most pristine route Runners everywhere but turns out if you can run 43 uh and you have his body control it's stupid there's this one play on the perimeter where he starts stops wins at the line of scrimmage then completely takes off and then he's so good at shielding his body to make a play down there it's just rare rare rare traits in production 99th percentile on the model I think very much deserves to be a borderline top five player in the class now with cover two shells and cover two defenses across the league it is so difficult to create explosive plays in the NFL now and so it makes sense why some people might have Malik neighbors as the wide receiver one because there aren't that many dudes that you can take a seven yard slant 47 yards to the house in that regard I understand why some people rank him as a number one wide receiver to me he is wide receiver too um jetpack BR auk is is what I keep referring to which is pretty dang good auk was a yak monster um a bit slower in his 40b a core injury uh coming out of school but has turned into one of the best route runners in the league maybe Malik neighbors does the exact same thing yeah I go back to that play against Tennessee back in 2022 where it's third and 10 he's isolated to one side of the field corner has inside leverage he forces him outside the numbers then gets into his body pushes off in the middle of the field boom then adds another five yards for like an 18 yard gain so um it's it's it's a player I cannot wait to see on Sundays and and it's a player that in almost any other draft class might be the wide receiver one you could actually say that for romad dun too in a lot of other drafts but we get basically three wide receiver ones in the 2024 NFL dra yep he's he's the most unique of the three because of that explosiveness and his inside outside versatility so yeah he's I think he's gonna be a top 10 receiver in the league um very soon our wide receiver one then is Marvin Harrison Jr coming out of Ohio State tell the people watch I don't have a whole lot here hopefully you guys know Marvin Harrison by this point 99 percentile uh AJ Green is is a good comp for him uh you just don't see somebody with his size 6'4 205 uh be able to kind of move like he does is he like a really Elite StraightLine athlete no but he's a very good one and I think that his Tempo uh his ability to uh start and stop absolutely route people up there's one route against quinan Mitchell that really was impressive to me I just think that he's the real deal copy paste put him into your ex receiver role and be a number one receiver 10 targets 12 targets per game would not surprise me the only thing separating him from the Julio Jones tier is just like forcing Miss tackles catching the ball and absolutely ripping people for 6070 yard touchdowns maybe he's one tier underneath that only Force Five Miss tackles but we're really nitpicking at this point I think he's going to be an exceptional player from day one but let's not forget even in that Julio Jones draft AJ Green went ahead of him and like AJ Green is the comparison here with Marvin Harrison Jr he plays big he plays small he draws penalties he scores touchdowns he makes the difficult look effortless and the easy look even easier yep I mean also you can tell he's been practicing sideline catches since he was five years old because his body control and awareness to get one or two feet in while he's being dragged out of bounds rare stuff and what we just talked about Malik neighbors and the reason why some people might have him as the wide receiver one again it's that ability to take seven for 47 I can watch Marvin Harrison Jr and say hey he does things that Malik neighbors can't right now yep you know it it really is that simple um just the fluidity and his routes creat sliver separation have the dark arts in the game already uh not a perfect Prospect but really really close to it it's almost boring how good he is it really is yeah he makes it all look effortless okay I've got two questions for you before we get out of here all right um where is tier one to tier two for you how would you tier these guys is there a separation I I think that the separation is around Brian Thomas uh I think it's probably at tier four or at wide receiver four with so you you would you would put all four wide receivers in tier one I think those are like number one wide receivers very hard to find guys um so Brian Thomas I definitely have ranked lowest of them but I feel very confident in what Brian Thomas is going to be able to do and I think there's a lot of or not a lot but there's some draft classes that Brian Thomas would be the top option definitely versus last year okay I have it Marvin Harrison Jr Malik Neighbors in their tier then ROM dun in a tier and then for me ad I menel lad makoni Brian Thomas in the third tier after that any other names that you want to throw out there just as honorable mentions just so people know that you watch some more tape um well the guys left off my list Jaylen P Javon Baker you had him on there Malik Washington Malachi Corley Jaylen McMillan those are like the next list those are slot wide receivers those are kind of manufactured touch guys I thought Malik Washington had a ton of juice he's just super short I think he's like kind of a thick one Robinson Malakai Corley I think somebody that is gonna be ranked higher and I think he's gonna get drafted higher than a lot of the names that we talked about on this show I just think there's like this range from for every Debo Samuel there's like six Omari Rogers uh out there and some some ofis chol so I get really worried when your average uh air yards per catch is under four so obviously he can truck some people but he have like 106 screens or something over the last two seasons or something it's nuts yeah 86% of his routes came from the slot so I appreciate his tape this is just like round three type of guy so I was prioritizing the Xavier legett and the guys that actually have a chance to pop off Johnny uh Wilson versus like this kind of like slot wide receiver tier okay that does it again if you like these shorter conversations you'll love the longer 10 plus minute videos that we have on really all these prospects and even more to come about 30 ahead of the NFL draft we're going have a
