144hz to 180 Hertz gaming monitor the reason for that is that there are simply too many really good 1440p monitors in the sub 300 price bracket and as I've just tested yet another affordable 1440p monitor that's pretty decent I figured it's about time to go over the best 4040p monitors that you should actually buy so those that are actually good value and not just overpriced with a bunch of RGB and other useless features and yeah while we're at it I also want to make a little price to Performance tier list with all these monitors so let's start things off with the newest edition the AOC q27 g2s which is a 165hz IPS monitor this basically is the Big Brother of the extremely popular AOC team to 4g2 which is one of the most popular gaming monitors of its class so the expectations are kinda high and we're off to a good start as the q27 g2s comes with a nice and vibrant IPS panel this also is a wide gamma display with an srgb volume of about 140 percent so colors look very saturated one thing I especially like about this monitor is the very high brightness range I measure just 32 nits at the lowest setting and 408 nerds at the brightest so this basically is one of the brightest monitors of its class and its Max setting and simultaneously one of the dimmest in its lowest setting which is really nice to see though when it comes to the contrast I only measure the contrast ratio of about 900 to 1 which is a bit lower than I would like I'm also not too impressed with the response times performance as not really a bad result but the q27 g2s does show considerably more ghosting than the fastest IPS monitors also if you're using other refresh rates than 165 Hertz or adaptive sync you'd have to adjust the overdrive setting as the strong setting does not look good at lower refresh rates so yeah there are a few things that I don't particularly like about this monitor but if the price is right this still is a very good option if you could get this in the low 200 price range like for 210 or 240 us or something like that this would be a solid beat here or even an a tier option and in the UK for example this right now actually is one of the cheapest 1440p monitors you can buy in the US however it's currently 310 dollars and based on that it just has to go into the seat here but given that the pricing of the AOC G2 series monitors usually is very competitive I expect the price to come down in the future so I really wanted to include this monitor as I think it will be a very good option if the price goes down eventually of course I've got International links down below if you want to check prices or buy something now at the moment for three hundred dollars you'd be better off with something like the Dell s2721 pgf this also is a 165hz IPS panel monitor but it has a considerably better response times performance than the AOC and this also is a white gamlet monitor with close to 140 percent of srgb coverage this also hasn't the best conscious ratio but that's actually true for most RPS monitors so that's really not too big of a deal what sets the Dell apart from the others is the a bit more unique design I personally think it looks pretty good but I don't want to rank it based on the design so price to Performance wise I'm thinking either B tier or a tier let's put it into the a tier for now the next one is the HP x27q which definitely is one of the most subtle looking gaming monitors out there the classic stand design also offers pretty good ergonomics and relatively small footprint on the desk but much more importantly this is a super capable gaming monitor with a 165 Hertz IPS panel and in terms of response times ghosting smearing and that kind of stuff it really is up there among the best that IPS monitors have to offer these days the first person shooters I personally would like to have an even wider color gamut though but 111 percent of srgb volume are fine as well and some might even prefer that over a full white gamma display as regular content will look less oversaturated on this now some people got their x27qs for just 180 us via the Amazon treasure truck which is absolutely insane not sure if that's going to repeat anytime soon but this usually retails for around 250 dollars which is still very good value considering this is among the fastest IPS monitors it has a good looking and bright panel and it offers good ergonomics really the biggest catch is that you can get this with two different panels I've reviewed the variant with the AG panel and I can say for sure that this is an excellent monitor there is however a variant with a panel from Boe which seems to perform fairly similar but I can't say that for sure as I haven't tested it so normally this would go into the a tier at least the AG variant that I have tested because I know that this is an excellent monitor but given that there is yet another variant out there that I'm not 100 sure about how it performs I kind of want to rank down to the BTL for now before we take a look at the other monitors a quick word about today's sponsor Squarespace if you're looking to build your own webshop personal blog or basically any other tagless back to the video now the Lenovo g27q-20 often is among the cheapest 1440p IPS monitors that you can find if you're lucky you can sometimes get this in the low 200 range and that's basically the number one selling point of this Monitor and also the reason I really wanted to review it since my initial review though the price went up quite a bit unfortunately but if you can get this for like 210 us or something in that region this is an extremely good deal it's just the same story as with the AOC Q2 27 g2s both are extremely similar in terms of response performance colors and general image quality above on the outright best monitors that you can buy but are really great options when you can get them cheap and yeah assuming you can get the g27q-20 for the about 210 dollars it once went for this would be 8 Euro material but currently it retails for over 300 so just like the AOC it just has to go into the seat here I'm gonna put it in front of the AOC here however as it has a slightly higher contrast ratio of around 1100 to 1 as opposed to 900 to 1. but surely not a night and day difference but something that might steer you towards Lenovo in case both are the same price now this is the MSI g273qf and it's probably the monitor that I recommend the most because it really takes all the important boxes it has Fast Response times basically as fast as an IPS monitoring can get these days and browser has a single overdrive experience meaning the overdrive setting is set and forget for every refresh rate unless you're using 60hz a lot this also is another white color gamut monitor with about 130 percent of srgb volume but unlike most gaming monitors it has a pretty respectable color accuracy out of the box better than the average gaming monitor at the very least though the contrast ratio as with many IPS monitors also isn't the greatest at least my unit got around 900 to 1 but I've seen others measuring were over 1000 to 1 on their samples so there's a chance you might get one with a better contrast ratio than I did one drawback though is that the stand offers no height adjustment I really want to put this into the S tier but because it's lacking the adjustable stand it's going to go into the a tier Instead This one however is going straight into the S tier that's the MSI g273q PF which is essentially the same monitor as the q a version but with a height adjustable stand weirdly enough though it's often going for the exact same price as the less adjustable version and has three net for as low as 260 dollars so it's really excellent value so this basically makes the non-p version kind of redundant if you can get this for the same price now I also want to briefly talk about some very popular monitors that I haven't tested myself because I know that I otherwise get a ton of comments about how they stack up but please keep in mind that I'm basing this on the reviews of others so I'm not 100 as confident ranking these as with the others that I've actually tested myself that being said let's talk about the LG 27 gl83a this actually is very similar to the HP x27q it clocks at 144hz instead of 165 but that really isn't a meaningful difference apart from that it also has a very good response times performance and it's also a mid gamma display just like the X2 27q and it also has a conscious ratio around 900 to 1 so it's going into the beat here right next to the x27q as it's so similar in fact some people even report that they also got this monitor with a panel from Boe despite that it also originally came out with one from LG display just like the x27q so yeah this and the x27q really are very similar I'd suggest going with whichever is cheaper that's usually the x27q so I'm gonna put it in front of the LG the 27 gn800 is yet another monitor from LG that's pretty good value though unlike the 27 gl83a this has a white gamut panel with roughly 130 percent of srgb volume so colors will look a bit more saturated on this one response times are top-notch as well and just like the MSI g273qf it doesn't have a height adjustable stand it typically retails for 200 60 to 270 US which is also very similar to the MSI so I put it into the S tier right next to the MSI for a similar price I'd personally favor the g273qf though just because I've tested it myself and know for sure that this is a great monitor now put international links to all of these monitors in the video description and I really suggest that you compare the prices before playing any of these monitors as prices can change quite a bit thanks for
