what's up everybody Welcome to podcast now I'm Alex and in this video I want to go over every game that I've played so far in 2024 and rank them we did this in the quarter year mark uh now it's time to do it with half a year behind us now it doesn't actually have Shadow of the UR Tre so sadly that misses the cut off even though it's technically in the first half of the year and remember same kind of rules apply to when I did it the first time it's got to be games that I've played at least enough of to like actually feel confident saying it makes a r if I played the game for you know 30 minutes or whatever I don't think it really it's not fair it's not fair to the game and I've also still missed some games I'm waiting for Persona 3 still till the answer DLC comes out uh uden Chronicles a couple of other ones um are not on this list but hopefully will be by the end of the year so there's quite a few games here 17 in all and uh not too too many more than the first quarter but I think we're going to be adding to it substantially you know in the next 6 months so let's start with number 17 and I forget my rankings the first time I didn't want to watch it again I didn't want to look at what I wrote down because I kind of wanted to say okay how do I feel about these games now with you know maybe a couple more months uh using hindsight right so number 17 the worst game is South Park snow day and I feel good about this and I feel I feel looking back this is really where I believe this game deserves to be such a disappointment like that's ultimately what it was um I think it had a couple things in it uh some of the comedy was alive I I still like the visual style of it and I like the way they kind of transitioned with with it but just overall extremely disappointing extremely short and and I don't mind short games in fact a short game or two is actually quite high on this list but also it's the quality the quality of this game was not there the combat got stale after maybe like 10 minutes it was meant to be some sort of like Rog like thing but I think extremely I execut extremely wrong and I said that in the review as well honestly you can complain all you want about all these different factors which I guess I did but actually that one is is the most baffing to me the type of game that they literally designed it to be a Rog likee type thing which didn't really make sense in the first place but they wanted it to be that and they failed extremely hard at doing something like that so yeah I didn't like it when it came out and I think looking back at it now I think it's it's is the worst game that I've played this year okay number 16 is Skull and Bones this one is here simply because it didn't make an impact I don't know if I would say well it's definitely not as bad as South Park snow day at least in my opinion and it might be potentially better than like the next couple games not 100% sure thinking about it now but honestly the reason it's this low is just it came out and I mean you know me I mean I I was covering this game I covered this game the day it was announced the announced not like you know two months ago or 10 months ago or two years ago no no the day was announced I made a video on it and I covered it every step of the way from when it was delayed and mainly just delayed right over and over again the game came out and to me it just didn't do anything um I think there's probably some stuff there that I didn't experience but this is this is an example of a game that I really try to get better at handling um and I've tried over the last couple years if a game doesn't connect if I'm just truly not feeling it I play hundreds of games a year I've got to learn when to drop it this is kind of like the main example that I can think of when I think of that it's it did not connect it's too long for me to care not that it's a long you know an insanely long game but it's too long for me to care about there's nothing in this game that stands out to me that makes me want to continue to play it after just a few hours and and maybe there is value I saw people say hey it gets good 10 15 20 hours I'm having fun I'm glad I'm I'm happy people are having fun again I'm just trying to stick to what I I believe in I'm trying to stick to things that I'm trying to you know learn as an individual that if a game is just not speaking to me I'm not going to give it a time of day if it's just not going to connect and this game just flat out didn't do it not disappointing because you know what did you really expect from scull and bones but uh it again it deserves to be towards the bottom here okay number 15 and you would only know about this game if you actually follow me on podcast now plus I actually did a review there pools there is a legit you guys know how much I love water right I talk about it all the time there is legitimately a video game out there called pools is a short kind of experience and it literally is you walking through different kinds of pools there's water slides it's it's incredible to an extent I think it I mean ultimately I think I overall like took away a sense of joy in it because you know you see all this water like what else you supposed to think but you know okay if we're really measuring it up to some of the like the final fantasies and the hell divers and the infinite weals of the world if we're going to match it up to the big guns that came out in 2024 I don't think it's fair to put this game too high it actually did kind of disappoint me because I talk about that in my oppressions video it's a weird type of game it says it's not a horror game but it actually feels like a horror game so I feel like there's like a conflict of like emotions going on there but I mean look for somebody like me it it weird was like some sort of dream game it did lack a little bit of substance but it is kind of what I've been asking for for like my entire life so I want to give it props I don't think it's like a terrible game it's also extremely cheap I think it's like $10 or something uh they didn't give it to me or anything I I fully bought it and all that jazz and I'm I'm happy that I did I'm willing to support games that literally go after my passion of water okay number 14 is Suicide Squad kill the Justice League honestly pools a lot of water Suicide Squad I was debating which one to put higher but no I I stand on pretty much everything I've said about suicide squad I think hindsight and you know what's it like now being so far removed from this game it's kind of just like emptiness right and I mean I think we've used those kind of terms to describe Suicide Squad before there are some bad parts to the game um I don't think it's like the worst game I've ever played I mean honestly I mean literally by my list it's not the worst game that I've played this year in my own opinion but I mean it did some damage to the uh to the Arkham verse it did I mean I constantly go back to it just wasn't all that fun the the mission structure was pretty terrible it's the same four or five missions over and over again there's not enough substance you know you've seen the disaster of like the post-launch stuff and and you know are they even going to be able to deliver the end of the story that I guess they kind of wanted to a lot of drama inside Rock Steady um you know I don't I don't think I despise it again I really think the term of like just emptiness like just just not even really caring kind of like Skull and Bones I mean these two are kind of similar in that way uh why why hurt myself why my mental or my physical getting too worked up about suicide squad more like let's just kind of forget it even happened and I think the longer we go I forget that the thing even you know existed and I mean that's not a good thing that's why it's so low right okay number 13 is the Star Wars Battlefront Classics Collection um this is one that I well this came out of left field so this was kind of like a surprise going into the year but this is one that I had high hopes for in such short time because they announced it and they released it kind of shortly after um the main reason why this is like where it is is well the launch was uh an I don't even know how to describe it it's so bad right the launch was absolutely awful but I mean I I think my base opinion on it is like I have the originals and and I you know I'm a retro kind of guy I have the whole retro Channel I have a PS2 I have you know all of the old cons well not all of them but I have some of them I'm I'm able to play The Originals if I want and you know to have the multiplayer is a big positive but at least that launch was a complete disaster I I highly doubt the player base is all that high now the server issues that they had the only thing that they added really to the experience was multiplayer and then the multiplayer wasn't even working and and again same kind of situation with what I'm trying to learn as a person do I really care to play Battlefront 2's multiplayer like today when it didn't work like three months ago even if it works now I mean I'm playing other games right and it's a thing where it's like I don't know it it wasn't the biggest thing in the world I have the originals the originals are so good and the base of these games are incredible I guess I would say that a that's a pro right because that value here that there's a little bit of gaming preservation going on here you can play several of the modes that you know if you don't have a PS2 or whatever on Xbox you could do it through this so that is fair to say um it's fair to I would say applaud them at least a little bit for that but the added stuff like especially for somebody like me having them and being the preservationist that I am there's not a lot of added value especially when the new stuff doesn't even work okay next up is multiverses and this is probably the part of the list where the game don't become bad in any way they just become like yeah they're here you you know they they they're not uh impactful enough to make it all the way up but they're not like terrible or anything right so uh for multiverses I enjoyed it the first time around you know it it's one of those games that I kind of thought it was going to be leading in for me it's a game that I can jump in play a couple rounds leave it for two three weeks jump back in Play It Again leave it again like it's that kind of game it's not a game that's going to change the world it's not a game that's going to change my life I mean I'm not massive you know into those type of games but I do think there's fun to be had you know the speed I think is a huge issue with a lot of people it does feel actually much slower than it even did last year um I didn't mind it last year and I don't know if I really mind it even now but it is definitely slow like it is is one of the slowest uh brawler type you know smash Pro type things that are out there so I don't know the characters are fine uh it takes very long to unlock them so there's definitely almost hesitancy for me to even invest myself in it is like well if I really want these characters they're either going to have to do that rotation thing where they give it to you for free or I'm going to have to play this game daily for multiple hours multiple days in a row it's just not my kind of game to do that right so it's a fine game I don't think it's bad by any means it it did exactly kind of what I thought it would maybe a little bit less honestly because I thought I'd play it maybe like weekly I haven't picked up this game in a while but I'm sure I'll come back especially you know if they add characters down the line I think I'll return play it leave that kind of situation so not bad but also so not anything that's going to blow me away okay number 11 is animal well uh this might be a surprise to some people including some people that directly told me to uh play this game actually pretty okay um now I didn't play it for all that long this is probably my least played game uh maybe besides pools because of how short it is uh least played game of the list but I actually quite enjoyed it um it was kind of pitched to me as like one of the greatest uh you know Rog likee type things that I've ever experienced it it's definitely it's definitely unique it definitely has a lot of charm to it I think it relies more on puzzles than I think uh the ones like lost crown and other maybe even dead cells of the world right so I mean I I do definitely enjoy it it's got some cool ideas of like firecrackers and using it to almost light your way or distract things using like the animal analogy and just having animals kind of everywhere definitely a cool game not lifechanging not anything that you know I saw people say you know game of the year and stuff and you know I think for the specific crowd it it is definitely a surprise it kind of came out of well it came out left field to me I don't know if it came out left field to everybody but definitely a solid game I've seen the reviews I've seen all the positive talk you know I tried it out I don't think it's my favorite I think I I think I like a little bit more of like the prince of persas and the like dead cells to me is like kind of the the king of the crop so those are kind of more of like the higher speed higher Acy that's kind of the Rog like stuff that I like I can appreciate all of them and I do appreciate animal well it's just to me it didn't leave the impact that some of the other ones do okay number 10 is Rise of the Ron and not a bad game by any means not an amazing game by any means this is a game that I feel like it's an odd one because it came and went and in that way uh at least to me thinking about now it has a similar feel to like the Skull and Bones and suicide squads where the longer it goes I kind of just forget that it even came out but the difference there though is if I do think about it I think you know what that was a rock solid game it's just one of those Rock Solid games that I don't think it necessarily does anything phenomenally maybe the combat I mean the combat is pretty special uh it's a different kind of like uh fastpac type thing I really enjoyed it I I enjoyed my time with it I enjoyed the kind of Cooperative elements of it as well you know for certain missions I think it's a rock solid game I don't think it it again changes the gaming landscape it's a game that kind of just came and went and maybe long term that's how I'll also think about it but it's a game that when I do think about it I think you know what that was a real solid like fun time like I'm glad I I bought it I I I owned it myself I still have it um and I'm glad that I do because it's game I I think I would go back to maybe years down the line say hey what's this game like you know one to two years later it's that type of game okay number nine is killer clowns from outer space one of the newest I think actually the newest release uh of this entire list you know I kind of liked it it took me a while because when I first played it and I remember making the Impressions video and I was like yeah I don't I'm not really feeling it or you know things aren't clicking I kept playing it and I haven't played in a little while you know from when I'm recording this but the game's just a lot of fun I I don't think it's got legs I think it's going to die extremely quickly like 95% of the other you know asymmetrical horror games really like Texas Chainsaw has stood out in terms of lasting a while and then dead by daylight is like the you know Undisputed King in terms of lasting right but killer clowns is a cool premise I think it's a lot of fun I I got better as playing you know as the the humans and also as the clowns it Blends and I think really well Friday the 13th and dead by daylight it's got so many similar aspects to I mean like Friday the 13th is probably the closest comparison but you do hook people you literally hook people and Cocoon so it feels a little bit like dead by daylight there but it's it's a good game I think it's a good solid game in a way they're handicapping themselves with like the IP but everybody has to do that that's like the way that it is um I think it's a cool IP just in general I also think under the radar looks really good like you I saw when it came out there was a lot of like Twitter posts of the loading screens oh my go the detail when it's going kind of slow motion on the Clown's faces holy God like the game does look actually extremely extremely well so I'm glad it exists I'm glad it came out but um you know again I don't think it's going to last all that long so cool premise but you know it's a game that maybe lasts half a year or a year before it kind of dies out okay number eight is actually hellblade 2 it made it kind of high I was debating how high to put it because I think back this is a different kind of situation for Rise the Ronin skull and bone Suicide Squad it's a game that I think back to and when I do think back to it I think a I think two different things was it necessary and that was a big feeling that I had when I did my review my review rested on two points that I still stand very close to it's I think it is an extremely solid game I mean the visuals and the the way they pushed that is insane I think the writing is pretty okay I think the characters are really great you know the facial technology the combat is both good and bad again I kind of discussed that way more in length in the review so I'm kind of recapping but also the main takeaway is did they need to do it because I do think overall it took away from like the the whole point of the first game it it it handled things differently it focused on different uh elements of character and story than the first game did and like lore and mythology I I didn't dig it I I was not you know into it uh the second time around as I was the first time so you know it's a game that I I think this is a good spot for it because I think I think I look back at it fondly I think I I mean I can appreciate the you know the technological things but I also think it is a good game it's very short but then I also think did they need to make it and that holds it back I think from like really taking that next step of like seven through one that's what holds it back so with that being said let's get to number seven it's hell diverse 2 not much has changed here other than to maybe even like resay like it was never fully my type of game I've always had fun anytime that I've played it but it's not my type of game it's when I say that by the way it's not that I can't appreciate it it's not that I can't play it it really goes into you know some of the other things I've talked about with multiverses or whatever it's just a game that I don't play all that much so I don't think I can get the the full amount out of it does that make sense like it's it's a game I can respect it's a game I can play but only limited this is not a game that even when it came out that I was playing for 20 30 40 hours to truly unlock what I think made this game ultimately very special I think the people that did actually play this game much longer than me probably come away I mean it's died off a little bit and there's obviously been a lot of controversy in the last like two or so months but I think you look back and you think very very fondly you know of the game higher than me but it's also because you experience kind of a whole whole different wave of what the game can offer versus what I did so I I think it's very solid I love the first one I can say that for a fact I love the first one I'm glad the second one was doing so well uh just not entirely my type of game but I did enjoy it I did play it enough to enjoy it and I also think it's just a really great game so I wanted to put it uh you know higher on this list okay number six is like a dragon infinite wealth it's dropped a little it continues to drop and and you know it's not a bad game it's not even an average game it's definitely a good game I stand I I think this game is something that hasn't really changed in my head I think I look back and I think this is a very well-rounded game the combat is just spectac it's got a way of getting you with that right where you're kind of doing the same thing every time especially if you're doing Dungeons and whatnot but it just feels so good uh being able to pick the different you know scenarios but you know it's a different feel than seven and I I think I like seven much more than it uh all things considered it was great to get kiru back I think the story was extremely weak and even the characters to an extent were weak uh comp comparatively compared to some of what we're used to as Yakuza fans so I think back and I think well-rounded game I spent like I mean looking at the list I don't really Final Fantasy maybe Final Fantasy and like a dragon I think I put about 60 hours into both of them maybe like a dragon was actually more like a dragon was maybe the highest played game in terms of uh length and I feel pretty confident in you know stating my opinion on this game because I played it very long I experienced quite a lot of the game I leveled up I never really had a challenge you know in that apartment and I enjoyed it uh to an extent and then there was you know some from being like not a lifelong like a dragon fan but a Die Hard over the last year or so I I feel like I've given it very very tough love love a tough love that I think the game deserves because there is uh improvements they absolutely need to make otherwise this thing is going to start going downhill at least to me number five which I think these two probably swapped thinking about it from the first time is Prince of Persia the Lost Crown I I Feel Again hindsight the longer we go special game it's a special game and you know we talked about Rog likes and the dead cells in Prince of Persia this game is just so good it it it captures the Rog likee feel mixing it with Prince of Persia which is kind of what you would expect when you play the game that's literally this but the story is great the characters are great the platforming the puzzle solving the combat every element that you would want and you know I mentioned dead cells and some of like the the speedier kind of types of Rogue leges that I like Prince of Persia really has that because it's got the traversal and it's got like the flexibility in that way but it's also got speed it's got very interesting combat that is also actually very very fast it's got a story it has like the cut scenes in it I think it's a very special Rogue like that as time goes you're going to look even more fondly you know on it it's that type of game okay number four is Hades 2 uh and I'm going to put it on here you know it's early access they're going to continue to uh be adding things to it but this is a game look Early Access is not a thing that I actually participate in or I want to participate in I like my games to be complete I really like that's that's a moral thing to well maybe not moral Mor but that's that's a big part of me I really want games to be like the full game when I buy it I'm not a big fan of Early Access I'm not a big fan of you know just playing half the game and they'll add the rest in over the next two years Hades 1 is unbelievably good right one of my favorite games of all time TR like truly so Hades 2 comes out or it's going to come out and my anticipation is through the roof game comes out I I bought it so spent the 40 bucks I'm willing to you know take it through to when the full release is and the game is just so good I mean like it's actually hard to describe it is everything Hades 1 was but even more and you know I don't know if I would say I like it more than Hades 1 but it feels like stepping back into this universe I mean that's actually exactly what it is it's not even like like it Hades 1 is just such a joy with the lore with the visual Style with the combat with the loop and how they do it and Hades too I actually do think they do some interesting things with the loop and how you kind of build out your character and uh kind of gradually get more strong and you know improve they do it differently you know uh from one another but Hades 2 is is so much of just stepping back in and new character new weapons new enemies new levels new bosses but you're you're in that Universe again right there is that uh syy kind of feel but it's the best kind it's it's almost I mean I can't speak to this but maybe it's like going back in for Elden ring right sh of the earth tree there's some differences but you're stepping back into one of the greatest games you might have ever played Hades is like that so Hades 2 I think deserves to be pretty high on my list okay number three though I got to put Stellar blade up here uh this was a new one compared to when we did the first quarter this game came out kind of right after that what a game and it's it's also a game that I think back on pretty fondly um I I sometimes I forget sometimes when I'm thinking about the games of this year I think of a couple of them and it takes me you know a few games to get to Stell blade but again I think I look back and I think very very fondly on the game visually you know the music of this game is so good does it have some narrative problems in terms of how they deliver and some of the character uh well I I played it in a language that I think I worked really well with expression and being but you know some of the languages weren't as good um ultimately the story actually is quite unique and quite uh interesting once you if you watch like a ending explained you watch a story explained the the story of this game is actually quite good I think it relies a lot on like the the data pads you know Finding like the memories of people it relies so I mean 90% on that and then 10% on just like an exposition dump you know every every couple hours but that's the weakest part of the game strongest part is oh my God I mean that that combat is so freaking good fighting the bosses really powering through it because you know I talked about in my review towards the end there those last three four bosses oh my God they're no joke the game itself it to me and I'm not even that good at these games the game was pretty easy like I went through it and I was enjoying it it was it was challenging but it was manageable towards the end those last three four bosses holy dear g i I died 20 plus times probably on all four of them it took me hours to get through the last like two hours of the game when it you know probably shouldn't have but once you get it I think you get it and like the the parrying and perfect dodging ah so I mean think I'm imagining it I'm Imaging the gameplay in my head right now and I'm loving it so yeah no it definitely deserves to be high and I would imagine to some people it's their game of the year all right number two and I don't think these two have changed so Stellar blade you know makes the list hellblade is kind of a new addition other games like that but the top two actually have not changed so we won't spend too much time on it bishers ghost of new Eden is my number two Final Fantasy 7 rebirth is number one same reasons honestly same reasons I think back to bishers and I think what a great new IP and and the sad thing is what a great new IP that it seems like nobody bought and that that upsets me they really I'm not look you spend your money how you want to spend I'm not coming to your house and like saying oh you're you're to blame for bishers I'm GNA I'm going to take your money and go buy it for you no I mean I I'm disappointed because I do think it's a great game I think the combat is serviceable but the sto how well written it is you know for all the all the political stuff that we've seen in games with the the gender and all this different stuff honestly this is such a well- Rd game from red and antea the two main character so perfect and they're so believable they're such an amazing pair they have character arcs they have emotions they have good and bad moments you want a game that you want to kind of get away from like the political yelling on YouTube and on Twitter this game is Just well written and not just them the main story is well ridden the side quest everything in this game is well ridden there's not a weak side quest in this game Everything feels like it's got a ton well it doesn't feel it does everything in this game has the feel that they put so much effort and so much work and and their blood sled and tears you know into it so I'm so happy that it exists honestly and uh if Final Fantasy 7 rebirth didn't come out this would easily you know be I think there's a big separation for me between bishers and Stellar blade that's just my own opinion but Final Fantasy uh short but sweet it's a game that honestly kind of changed me it's a game I became addicted to and got all the way into the lore and you know focused on the ending and focus on the story moments it's one of the greatest casts of all time I think I I walk away everything is so high on this game except for you know it's not perfect it's not a perfect game some of the side stuff actually a lot of the side stuff is just fluff right the uh the towers and a lot of just the collectible type things collectathon type things are just there to Pat out the length but when you get down to it think the story is amazing I'm you know I'm with the ending of the game the cast is one of the greatest casts I think of all time I think this cast too the voice acting and everything just so so good character Story the combat which is something I don't really think about too too because I focus so much on like the story and characters but the combat of this game is phenomenal and there's some incredible fights incredible boss fights and yeah I mean it's this is a it's a close to perfect game it's not a perfect game but no it's easily my game of the year and I don't know these games of the Fall there's definitely some there's definitely some games I think can uh can make a mark but you know for the life of Stranges of the world and metaphors and avows and all those games they're going to have to work pretty hard because bishers I think bishers and Final Fantasy on my list are going to be very very hard to Dethrone so let me know what you guys think in the comments make sure you're subscribe to the channel Bell icon turned on and I
