black 90s so I so so I don't know how to explain this but I do I was in New York with Ian Finance yeah and I was doing his podcast with J Jordan and right after we're done I get a call from my agents and they go listen we need you we need you to tape something right now mhm and I go what I'm in New York they go all right so Paul Fig's doing this movie and you know he needs something because he's he's he's doing a screening tomorrow but there's one little piece that he needs and he needs you as a podcaster you know what I mean and he's going to interject it into the movie mhm and I'm already at Ian finance's studio so I go I go I know but I H so I hang out with my agents I go to Ian I go hey dude here's what we're going to do yeah I have to explain that explain it no she's missed out I I'm locked in baby okay so um this is what we're gonna do I go Ian and Jordan I go we're gonna shoot this thing and they're like I know but we're going to go eat and go I go I know but dude you're going to be in a movie right but we'll shoot it a three shot that they're all in it yeah so there everyone's in it and they also improvise a little bit in it and then I also um so we memorize the lines you know and it it takes like an hour to do it MH right and then um we send it in we go eat and also they're going to pay me money I was going to tell I go Jordan and Ian I go you guys I'll give you some of this money this and that anyway I let it go never think about it again uh and so um you know Ian keeps asking about the movie like you mean what's up with that movie you I mean it wasn't coming out yeah and I said I literally go you're here already wait what the [ __ ] is going on here he's 6 minutes early I you can't finish the story going to finish the story [ __ ] He's already here first time you came here uh 2020 oh wow so you're you're like recently dabbling yeah I wanted to see what the Apocalypse look like over here oh really yeah and did it look as different than Dallas way different you guys were like sad that's true no Texas was happy I mean we had comedy shows you know yeah I know but did they did they die more or no I think the save maybe the same same death so we should have opened two JY maybe your fault she dude she was like spray everything down don't leave the house I did the same but I also had people over my house all the time oh so you had fiestas no as they say is that racist could be okay I apologize the owl says no no no it's cuz I was a I used to be a barber and during 2020 I was like running like this kind of Speak Easy Barber Shop oh I felt like I don't know felt very Holocaust I felt like I was hiding people oh they did they shut down the barber shops yeah they shut down the barber shops but I still cut hair out of my bedroom and like some of the neighbors started to catch on and I thought they would like report me or something or you know just be mad but one day this lady came and she was she was knocked on my door she was like you cut hair right I was like no and she's just like yeah you do I see people coming in and out and and they have a haircut she's like that was leave with a haircut she's like can you cut my kids hair I'm like I can't take any more people in like oh really yeah you never did it no I did of course you did you're a nice guy it's money well you like money it's it's all right yeah I don't like it like a whole bunch but fun can I give you a compliment yeah your lips dude yeah no I mean not I'm sorry you uncomfortable for me yeah it is yeah should we just move on from it I what do you think how about you career I want to I want to know now but it is uncomfortable I want to know it's not uncomfortable it's not uncomfort you you know you know what's interesting to me I'll tell you what's interesting yeah I I want to talk about Texas and the comedy scene so even me in the 90s Texas was huge for me because um you know I I I went to the Latino laugh Festival I just knew you know you know being a Korean dude Hispanics really brought me into the scene you know because at the time it was just hard to break into mainstream clubs and stuff as a Korean dude but I I remember going to Addison a million times and you know all those clubs in Dallas and Houston and um what's the comedy scene like right now in Dallas um I think there's like tons of I guess small clubs maybe not like big famous clubs or whatever Addison and Arlington improv are still the most popular then like but then there's also like I don't know you might have seen it before like back door comedy which is like a good place to work at some cleaner material then there's Dallas comedy club now there's like Plano House of Comedy which is like a little more north of Dallas um there's tons of spots to workout material you might not be able to do like more than a mic a night but you can definitely hit one maybe two mics a night on some nights definitely every night of the week like like an open mic I know what it is okay I was just testing you very good huh I was like how how wisdom or what yeah but I was just like I I almost thought you were serious I was like how long has this guy been famous like he he doesn't know mics anymore K I know I don't do mics this guy this guy hit Texas in the 90s and just never look back I know but I'm just saying I I mean I you still do mics when I can yeah I haven't done a mic I I mean I haven't done a mic maybe yeah you have where you did a mic in Hawaii oh that's right oh that's right when I'm in another town and I nothing to do I'll do mic you do mic that's always fun one time I saw you go up at The Comedy Store it was like on my second time ever coming to La yeah I went in The Comedy Store and I went into that that uh what is it called the belly room with the circle stage yeah that I like as soon as I stepped in I was like boom I was like oh [ __ ] that's Bobby Lee and you looked at some guy and you were like you get pubes now and you pulled your pants down and show them pubes no that's that's not me was that a different comic maybe it was a different comic that was out of pocket though that was me you can edit that out yeah we keep that in but I'm just saying shut your mouth okay yeah I thought it was badass that's what's up D yeah good but let's beautiful PWS by the way you like my lips I like your pubes hey I would never show my pubes off my lips all day every day my pubes no yeah yeah why you don't like yours nah did you shave it nah so what year did you start I started like um 2017 2016 something like that that's when you started stand up ient yeah but he's also 27 so like that's already dog 100 it literally is though from to go from that to Netflix special I just don't understand how F that's so fast 26 so you've been since you were 19 yeah I was like 19 I maybe like just turned 19 something like that wow that's like what menia did I mean I know I don't know if that's a great comparison but thank you I guess well I mean menia did his first HB special when he was 20 really that early damn [ __ ] holy [ __ ] that's really he was young you know what I mean wow yeah it's he was young dude so I'm just saying that you know the trajectory I'm not saying the style or you the ethics of it you know have you met him yeah I like him he nice dude yeah he was real nice in in Texas yeah yeah he's a nice guy yeah he's super nice yeah yeah did you do shows with him mhm yeah he's great and then he I also want to say this and this is going to make people go crazy but he's a beast on St is he not yeah I saw yeah I saw him kill I saw he destroys dud yeah like people don't understand how and and i i f with every comic people always go you know I mean yeah but he does yeah but yeah but yeah yeah but he [ __ ] murders up there too you know I mean you got you got you got to give him that yeah yeah yeah you know yeah I agree I saw him murdered every show yeah so what happened to what about George George yeah what happened with George I don't know I guess dude Trin Wasing dude woke up one morning had some haterade n he he apologized trino um I didn't really get what that dude's deal was maybe I still don't um what' he do well like they were on George Lopez's podcast right which for the record I didn't really care that George was like mean or whatever he say uh Chino kept like bringing me up he was like we got to help it's up to us to like help the Ralph barosas of the world which I didn't really catch it at first but after that I was like I've never met that guy I I I'm still waiting on the help I guess will you never met trino no I've never met him talk to you like he boys with you yeah that's what I'm saying that's what started to bug me the days after cuz on the days after people were commenting like look man like good looking now trino was a real one I was like wait why are they [ __ ] complimenting him like well he's from Texas right he lives there I don't know I guess you never ran into trivia I've been friends with him for almost 20 years 25 years I've seen his stuff but I never like yeah really never even cross paths how about cristella Alonzo she's from Dallas you cross paths with her I've I've seen her but I don't haven't cross path for her I think I I think one time I saw her perform live I think in Addison uhhuh I might be getting it wrong but yeah I've never I've never met her have you met anybody I mean can we start there yeah yeah yeah you have you cross path with anybody um give me a big name you cross the path once or twice but I try to I try to walk a road that hasn't been walked before FR wizard Road no but yeah Steve trino was like you know it's up to us to help Ralph barosas of the world and George like he brought up my name quite a few times and eventually George was like who the [ __ ] is that guy like [ __ ] that guy don't say his name like look out for yourself he's like [ __ ] that guy what's his name Jeremy barbasa damn wow that would have been a cool comedy name like I wish I would have thought of that one first to be honest um I mean don't get me wrong George has done our podcast he's a friend of mine so I'm not going to say anything in ill will no but no no that is a weird no that's a weird thing I say but I want to say something that that's weird word but I'll say this I didn't really care what he said about me cuz I feel like you could have brought up anybody's name and he would have been like [ __ ] whoever you're saying I think it's like one of those Heat of the Moment type things he did a call and apologize which I really appreciated he did call you yeah that's cool D but I didn't I didn't want him to apologize I was like no man you got to do that he's like no no I do I do whatever um I didn't want to apologize cuz I'm like bro it's his podcast like he paid for the equipment say what you want like yeah good point but also can I say this all right it's I think because of the G the newer generation is very sensitive they are yeah I agree as a as a generation they're a little bit more sensitive as comedy fans especially as comedy fans right you can even call but the comics are a little sensitive yeah like when you see younger Comics around you literally have to watch yeah like don't say this don't say this don't say I've said him trust me it doesn't go well yeah right and so I think that like but what I think is especially for Comics like this in Texas this guy is a warrior you know how hard comedy is it's pretty tough right and you went up every night every night you're a strong guy you can take some criticism please Bobby your lips dude I come here you start complimenting the [ __ ] out of me and you don't like it n it's just it's too much Bobby you're eyebrows can I just say same about your eyebrows too they're [ __ ] perfect too like thin they're not thin at all no the thickness yours just thicker like this way but in of like it's you're saying yeah yeah I'm not saying thickness you know what I mean I do all right yeah I [Laughter] haven't my sister does my eyebrows for me but I haven't done them in like a couple months really M she does them what do you mean like she'll like pluck them with like little tweezers and stuff like shape them up cuz I'll grow a mean as you in the brow I got an Alaskan B momy oh you do yeah wow dude some one day I'm going just do it I'm going just grow it out you know but your eyebrows I think that's a good look yeah yeah try it you're a hairy dude not too much in some places yeah right there yeah you can grow beard too I wish it was get older like when did you grow your you need more like life experience for them to really grow thicker yeah cuz he's going to well no like when did your mustache start to grow in always you always same it is nah okay little bit okay um did you when did you get your start um like open mics I guess I don't know what year though like in high school or no no no I was like right out of high school did you listen to him he said he started at 19 I know 19 but I'm just he was in high school 19 were you call him dumb I I've never flunked they were 19y olds oh they were yeah I didn't know there must have been bad kids you know you know got held back a year ah and not me I was like real smart my teachers were always like look at this guy um yeah I was I was in Community College I was trying to be an actor I was like I was like going to be like a theater major okay that's what I'm saying so you did you do theater in high school no wait you wait you want to be an actor but you never took a class or they nah him U would would do um what is that class called with the cameras uh a club a club oh that's super oh you guys knew each other in high school yeah what no you see what I'm talking about H me get your [ __ ] together man like like grade fourth grade yeah oh that's so cool but that includes high school cuz like it's okay Hae it's okay cuz like you know you know from high school he's like nah is he is he special or I mean he's special to me okay good that's my not not to everybody but he was yeah okay he was doing like AV club and uh he was talking about how the school district had this like student film festival thing and that the uh the finalist in the competition would would like that final round would be held at um the dollar movies do they have dollar movies out here you know like I don't think so anymore no right a movie made for a dollar what are you talking so they're like um once you know how the movie is like in theaters right after it's they're not playing in theaters anymore but before it comes out in DVD it'll go to like the dollar movies really yeah so like maybe you didn't catch Spider-Man when it first came out but 5 months later you could still catch it at the dollar mov a great idea actually yeah and it's like it wasn't really a you know with inflation and whatnot it was like a $150 two two bucks sometimes right but would it be packed sometimes on Fridays yeah bunch of little ghetto kids W also it could get violent yeah I guess so yeah yeah but we I don't know go Spiderman on side right nah nah they knew how to watch a movie but anyway um I thought it was cool if we made a short film and we could like watch it at the dollar movies it was like real big into movies I just like a big fan or what so like we made a movie movie and we got in there and then um I I don't know I was like I think like I could be like a funny actor I always want to be like a comedic actor yeah wait so you guys your movie made it to the dollar movie or just you a movie you were in no no no his yeah like we made it together we like so you guys made a movie got into the Dollar Movie House yeah and air how how long was the movie short it's a short it's a short it's like 6 7 minutes or something and did everyone show up to see it no no no one can mmm no other students that who also movie was playing oh really Man The girl who how many people were there how many people were there like what 18 not even maybe 20 people oh the girl who won she made a movie about cancer which that's [ __ ] cheating but that's true right yeah yeah anyway was it good or no no wait hers or mine no hers oh no hers was amazing and yours is not good not at all what was yours about mine was about a a guy that was like about to go to jail and like he's just like killing his last day kind kind of like it was like a ripoff of like the 25th hour [ __ ] yeah yeah yeah yeah [ __ ] Ley it goes hard man I like that dude um but I was like man I could I could probably do like funny movies and stuff and I looked up like different comedic actors and I saw that like Adam Sandler had went to um acting school like at NYU or something and I'm like well that must be the start I mean I go to like a university went to Community College and took acting classes and the the acting teacher there told me about like he asked me why why I wanted to do it and I told him he was like oh you should also try other like forms of Comedy like you know improv standup comedy [ __ ] like that and I just went to open mic and I really liked it so I didn't even go back to like his class anymore I was like really yeah I like I didn't feel like acting no more like this is it right here like oh [ __ ] it's okay I was like stand up that's where it's at immediately your first time like you felt it like oh like I really want to do this well like I did and I didn't like I went to the thing and I maybe went back to a couple classes but I kept thinking about the mic cuz I had you know it went bad like really bad and so like right after the mic I was just like well that's not for me but then the next day I was like nah nah no I can figure it out I can figure it out like if I say this different if I say that differently right and so I ended up going back to the mics like pretty quick and I just didn't go back to the class wow your very first time did you bomb or were you like oof like that was I mean no one liked it but you know what I was I was proud of myself because I got a lot of it out of my mouth and also I the adrenaline was racing through my body so it just felt like I was fighting a lion or something yeah right how many were how many people in the mic there was probably eight or nine people it was it was actually a place called Thomas Payne coffee shop it was in San Diego and um I did this LSD joke that I was thinking about doing and how old were you 233 okay I was 23 and um but I just remember going and I always tell young Comics this I go cuz they're always scared of bombing right they go I'm afraid they're not going to laugh I go dude get this Raptor on your head all right usually when people go up for the first time they have all these fears right but the one feeling that you'll get I think guaranteed is the feeling of oh my God holy [ __ ] I can't believe I just did that I'm so proud of myself yeah because it's so brave and it's so and it's just exhilarating even if it goes really bad you're just like I can't believe I did that you know yeah that's usually the thing and then um and then the next Good Feeling would be when you actually get a real legitimate laugh that you wrote it could be like three people chuckling but it feels like the whole room just like died laughing yeah it's great or when you see or here's another good moment when a comic comes up to you and goes hey dude that was a good joke yeah and there real about it you're like thanks dude good say is like an okay compliment but that's a good joke that's like that's a real compliment that's a real compliment yeah yeah yeah um but yeah so people have this these fears but I I don't know what it is about guys like us but we just we just did it you know we just I'm just doing me and some days I'm doing me the best I can and some days you know just doing me I know but still you're still you and it's like you don't have to try just be you yeah don't act like anybody else have you acted like anybody else yeah who I don't know yeah you don't know man you know what I mean have you I mean yeah there's versions of other people that I tried to be in social situations like when did you like I remember you used to like read um you know philosophical books and play chess was that someone you were trying to be no that's who I am that's who you are I've tried to go down that route and that's not who I am at all what do you mean CH how' you go down I tried I tried to play chess and you're not good nah nah yeah yeah I think I'm good like defensively yeah yeah yeah like cuz I was playing with my buddy Luise he's like really really good yeah and I tried to like strategize on like how to start the offense you know what I mean I don't know what the [ __ ] I'm doing I can't see it that part I don't do that I just play yeah I just I don't have a game plan do you no I st so I only do good when I don't have a game plan which can still [ __ ] me up though but but once once they're really coming at me then I can like under pressure start to see like some better moves like a defensive thing but I see other people play and they're better at the offense if they completely sell out two two Sunday show Ralph that's what they call me yeah yeah so the ticket numbers are going good now yeah yeah yeah yeah that's [ __ ] amazing dude well let me say something it least weirdest podcast I've done so far really yeah I've only recently done like podcast like did like a bunch in the last couple months we you did fra fra fragrance what's it I did fragrant like earlier this year yeah you did that was pretty fun what else did you do I did fragrant I did that same week I did this better than fragrant this was way funner say it yeah there we go guys what's up The Fragrant the Schultz Chris Stefano's podcast was really cool too Chrissy chaos mhm he the best um what else did I do I did that going in deep Chad Chad and J oh JT love love them love them that was badass um I did Thompson G podcast in Austin mhm and he brought up like pictures of inmates or like videos of inmates on like dating websites we had to guess what they did that's funny I'm very judgmental I got almost all of them right oh wow wow wow wow wow um so you've done all the you're you're at a point where you're doing all the big ones I guess so yeah yeah yeah are you guys going to start one n do you two together though is so funny if we could if we could get like some pretty big names on there and maybe me and him would just co- interview them yeah but if it's just me and Hime why no no no no what I think just you and Hime I think you and Hae is the winner yeah or just Hae solo thoughts yeah yeah what he maybe feels on things um all right well you know it was a pleasure and
