okay First Alert chap neologist Paul hegen joining us right now Paul beautiful day outside a little windy but I'm embracing that Sunshine yeah nice to see full Sunshine overhead after the last week's abundant Cloud covered the breeze is definitely going to be a factor as we head through the next couple of days looking out from the top of Mount Diablo and let's take a look at what you need to know as we head through the rest of this week we are going to remain dry through the rest of the work week that's not unusual for the first several days of May but that's going to change as we head into the weekend warmer temperatures lower humidity levels and offshore Breeze kicking in as we head through the next 24 hours or so but an onshore Breeze along the coast so the wind is going to kind of converge over the Bay Area and then a cool wet weekend for the first weekend in May not the kind of weather that we usually associate with early May we'll talk more about that momentarily first let's talk about the winds that are going to kick in as we head through the rest of this evening the wind is going to be well noticeable but not that strong a wind advisory goes into effect for Solano County at 11 p.m. but the winds aren't going to be that strong at that point elsewhere through the Central Valley as well they do pick up as we head towards early tomorrow morning you see the darker shades of brown showing up indicating some 30 plus mph gust and a 26 mph gust estimated by futurecast around Fairfield at midm morning the wind should back down as we head through the afternoon but it is still going to be a noticeable Breeze stirring around the atmosphere as we head through the day right now the wind is on Shore in San Francisco the flag standing out but not ridiculous temperatures are in the 60s and 70s anywhere from 61 degrees in San Francisco to 76 Dees in Santa Rosa pretty much everybody's temperatur is within a few degrees of what is normal for the last day of April but we do have a warming Trend that is going to kick in as we head into the first three days of May if you're heading out to the A's game game two of their Series against the Pittsburgh Pirates plenty of sunshine at game time 641 pitch temperatures in the mid-60s not bad for late April baseball in the bay temperatures dropping into the 50s through the course of the game and we will drop down to a mix of 40s and 50s by early tomorrow morning mostly 40s just the mildest location staying in the low 50s but temperatures do warm up especially away from the water temperatures are going to be up into the low to mid-70s Around The Bay close to 70 in San Francisco into the low 60s along the coast a nice departure from the upper 50s you've had recently but a mix of upper 70s and low 80s farther Inland with very similar temperatures Thursday and again on Friday and then everything changes as we head into the weekend our side by-side forecast models looking at the long range data these two forecast models were not agreeing with each other at all 24 hours ago now they have converged on more agreement regarding our chances of rain and they continue to go up both now to pick a good chance of showers moving into the bay area on Saturday where they still differ is how long it's going to last how much rain is going to add up and how long that snow is going to linger in the Sierra American forecast model keeps that going through much of the day on Sunday both the snow and the higher elevations and the showers around the Bay Area we'll continue refining the details at this point Sunday looks like the drier half of the weekend but still be flexible with any outdoor plans total rainfall amounts will vary from a few hundreds of an inch of rain far inland in the East Bay to about a/ inch of rain adding up in the higher elevations of the Santa Cruz mountains pretty typical amounts for one of these early May rain systems here's the 7-day forecast we'll start with seven San Francisco and Oakland with temperatures peaking the next three days and then a big drop kicks in from Friday to Saturday a 10 to 12 degree drop across the entire Bay Area first weekend in May is really going to feel like the middle of March with that good chance of rain on Saturday and then the chance for some lingering showers on Sunday Sunday does not look like a wash out I would start looking for indoor alternatives for any outdoor plans on Saturday but at this point just be flexx on Sunday be ready to adjust and then we should dry out as we head into early next week we'll keep you updated as the weekend gets closer right oh I don't want to talk about Saturday I'm gonna just enjoy the next three days exactly sounds like a good plan all right thanks Paul
