Questions linger about CenterPoint Energy's outage map after Hurricane Beryl

All right, this morning, we are still getting tons of questions from you asking about the new center point map. Here's Marcelino Benito with a closer look. We've been getting a lot of emails from people who are confused even angry about center points outage map saying they show their neighborhood has power but their houses are still in the dark. So we wanna go through what we know about these maps and what center point is telling us first, this version of the outage map is relatively new. It just came out on Friday. But what makes this different from earlier maps is it now includes color coding to show an estimate of when power might be turned back on for your area starting with bright green for today and yellow for July 19th. That of course is next Friday. Now say your home is in a green area where center point as the circuit is energized, but you're still in the dark. Well, center point says you may be part of what they call a nested outage that means the main circuit is on. But there could be a more localized issue like a damaged fuse line or a transformer or there could be damage to your weatherhead. That's where power is brought into your home. That would need to be repaired by an electrician before center point can turn everything on again.
