[Music] Logan Sergeant this is him losing it 10 13. yeah the problem came on the entry he just had the lock up forces fractionally wide out onto that curb on the exit and then he tried to just keep his foot buried on the throttle Perez is off the road Sergio Perez who had a torrid time in practice with four excursions has gone off at turn three to bring out the red flag and the driver second in the world championship has found the gravel found the wall and brought out the red flag in the first part of qualifying he looks like he's beached it just exactly what he did in free practice and you know at that level that's just not acceptable he's struggling with the brakes all day checko as he said in every practice he had had one trip through the gravel another almost trip through the gravel at this corner it was the same issue again copy that is why we have good old-fashioned gravel traps in Formula One it punishes driver errors that's a huge one from Checker first flying lap of the day he's got no time on the board at all and Perez will start last tomorrow but ass pushing on finished driver in the slipstream try to take it up and over the line he improves his time but not his place and bottas really struggling he'll get another go there at 18 seconds on the clock Magnuson in 10th position someone's been very close to the gravel directly ahead of Pierre gasly who's the driver that we're on board with remember he was eliminated in q1 in the first race of the year bottas is done he's used everything on that lap and he was only quick enough for 19th out of 19 so he's having a nightmare time at the moment valtry botask and is not going to improve gasly 13. that's in the danger zone for an Alpine that was looking quick earlier on looked great in practice earlier on the checkered flag is flying no improvement for Joe Guan you he couldn't find the laptop what about the home favorite can he give him something to cheer oh Oscar piastri improves the 16th position but he's full and half attempt shy in the first part of qualifying Sergio Perez found the barriers at turn three bottas a former winner around these parts he is eliminated along with the rookie Logan Sergeant Joe granu and the home favorite Oscar piastra this has gone in to Perez Corner a little bit quick but not as quick as Chaco did and that is exactly what I was talking about when Perez went off you see that sort of thing a lot of the time Drive is going wide into the gravel just going off and they can rejoin gas is flying up to four with that fastest middle sector really good luck he only found a couple attempts but he went from 11th to four that's how close the field is Here Comes came back then in the other half and he's out 12. 12th position for Kevin Magnuson a 118 one was not good enough how about hulkenberg can he take another step 40 can he's always been phenomenal around this circuit but this is a huge step forward to freeze looking for a laptop not a promising lap time looking at the graphic and he cuts the beam out he goes 14th it's just a point of Pride about who can make it science goes over the line he goes up to third to just place hulkenberg sonoda now trying to reach the third part of qualifying he can get up to 12 ahead of Magnuson but now we are just looking the driver at risk is Alex Alban the driver in night now sick he's Lewis Hamilton who completes his lap and what can Lando Norris do personal best from the middle sector as Charlotte Clair goes fourth and let's see what Norris can do he improves the 13th but it's no trick to Q3 for the British driver 13. I know okay good traffic there yeah that's awesome okay unfortunately that's uh that says out with that that was uh that was very close and it's okay Norris Magnuson and defreeze who fall at the second hurdle and exit qualify in QT can Fernando Alonso this place Max verstappen and take provisional Pole Position he can Fernando Alonso to the front of the field with a 117 three can anyone get on top of Alonso with seven and a half minutes to go Leclair is gonna be first to try and he goes to the front row and he gets ahead of verstappen as well Russell in the middle part of the lap looking good his signs though and he goes ahead of his teammate the Mercedes will be next with Russell now to the front row and Kan Lewis Hamilton find his way there he can do better than that Lewis Hamilton to provisional Pole Position here we go over the line and he's pipped Lewis Hamilton by nine thousandths of a second what a qualifying session verstappen he's having his tidiest run in qualifying so far this is the penultimate corner it's been such a tight battle so far the two-time champion looking to change that looking for his second pole of the season for staff and across the line and he blitzes the field by half a second to take the battle for Paul Out Of Reach of everyone in the field and now who can join him on the front row Lance troll first of all across the line he improves to Fourth position Hamilton is on the personal best sector one sector two but we joined Fernando Alonso trying to return to the front row and he does so across the line Alonso up to second position now can the Mercedes do anything about the old Master out front signs has improved after he's pushed that he's moved up to third place so Hamilton will try and respond first of all Russell finds his way to the front row but it's Hamilton over the line and he can't match his teammates time once again muscle is the lead Mercedes in Formula One qualifying Russell on the front row with that late effort across the line personal bests everywhere you look for those improving at the end Russell got to the front row Hamilton was in the mix Alonso will start in fourth it's signed ahead of Charlotte Claire but when Maxa stop and found a clean lap he was in another League once again by two tenths of a second verstappen takes whole position yep I think you could be that's a pole position two and a half tenths to Russell nice shot [Music] on both the Australian Grand Prix George Russell in second place sharing the front row with him and then Hamilton Alonso signs stroller Claire Alex album Pierre gasly and Nico hulkenberg make up the grid
