hello everyone and welcome back to another  video it is francesco here and today's video   i'm diving into an app called catalog which is  a team productivity tool that is interesting and   the main reason behind it is because what  it does is it's moving back into a world   of sort of dashboard based productivity for teams  versus build your own setups and i'm interested   in this application for a multitude of reasons  however i'm here to give you a bit of a first   impressions feature on it i've actually just sort  of set up an account sort of been playing around   with it for the last 20 minutes and i wanted to  give you information like availability pricing   and a bit more about the product and what it  does so as you can see it's called catalogue   now i actually was pronouncing it quite a lot i  don't know why but basically the main first time   i actually saw it is again because it won product  hunt of the day but what it does differently   is it brings sort of your layout together by  organizing your projects your goals your workflows   and it makes everything searchable um in terms of  bringing it all together so think more like a hub   for your team versus a build-your-own layout and  i'm going to give you a sort of overview of how   it works let's start with pricing though so there  is three types of pricing starter plan gives you   free forever up to 10 people you can pretty  much go at it with integrations all features   sign in with google microsoft but it says that  there's no from what i'm aware of there's no um   limits to storage but obviously you're searching  through other applications the only limit is   your five integrations if you want to see the  integrations there's only a few at the moment   there's only like sort of the sort of regulars  like slack teams and you can see which ones are   available in the different sections so it's not  like boundless amounts of integrations but it's   a good start and then the pro is nine dollars per  user per month unlimited people so um obviously   it depends on how many other people you've got  above 10 people um so if you've got 10 say 20   people using it that want unlimited access to the  15 integrations then it's going to cost you 90   i think by maths isn't very good enterprise  you've also got sso and also custom features   custom branding but there's still early days  this application let's have a little dip inside   of what it looks like so when you're when you  enter the catalog you can essentially start   giving yourself like a home page much like you  would on like an apple homepage you can uh go down   here sort of edit them like a icon you can add new  ones you can add shortcuts to existing services   catalog which is already in your sort of projects  and goals and things like that i've connected   google calendar and google drive but you can also  connect dropbox asana jira trello and clubhouse   which are other applications and you can also  add the card down here by pressing that but   you can see here that i've added the tools  academy but you can see here that if i i   have to have that set up so that it uh be able to  move it across um but what's really nice is that   it's just quite clean quite clean and simple and  i can see the project here calendar here link   here and link to drive so you can search stuff  straight away if i wanted to find an interview   i did with chris could find it easily inside of  this and the search was fairly fast when i was   using it but obviously if you add more across  different services the integrations obviously   make it easier to be able to access that  information um so that's quite nice and   that's probably where this all uf usp i know other  cloud services can do this sort of thing but it's   very nice having it alongside your projects  now let's talk about projects because this is   a different approach on projects it's not like  micro managing project it's more like creating   a project so i created one called bento let's see  let's go and edit this project so you can see here   that i can add sort of all the regular stuff like  um you know the members the integrations i have   connected can connect it to like slack and things  like that so that any updates come through here i   can see recent activity and i can also add key  resources that people might want so for example   upload specific files that people need access to  here what i can do is i can change the progress of   the project so i can change it to like at risk uh  on track and things like that but i can also add   milestones so for example let's say a milestone  would be add beta let's add a few more um i could   say launch week um let's say it's this week here  go ahead and press save you can see here that the   key dates appear below now i can actually go ahead  and start posting updates with other people here i   can see the resources that are currently available  and i can see goals so i can create goals   for my organization my team or personal so if  i was like okay for personal i need 50 users   for the beta and i can choose a metric in  which uh it's actually targeted so in this case   i need initial value the target value is actually  50 and i've only got five people on board so far   and i've got a due date of end of q3 you should  be able to add yeah you could be able to add a   specific date so in this case i might add the okay  start date and as i said i was trying to release   it by a certain day so i can go next i can do a  check-in reminder if i wanted to i can add other   the key metrics so how will this be measurable so  if you had multitude of them like i need to hit 90   happiness rate on beta users under 50 beta  users so i need i need uh 45 of them to be   happy and two of them are happy so far and that's  a number so there we go so if i go next um i can   add collaborators and i can go ahead and press  create so we can start to see a bit of a like a   road map of key results that i need to target  so for example if i like okay next week i've   got like all right yeah we're up to seven  i can add some comments like oh brilliant   i found three more i think three more anyway um  and you can start to see that whether you're on   track and things like that so you can see  here that you can actually give an update   on the project and how it all sort of relates  to the project in total so that's a goal uh you   can pin that so if i go back to the home page  you can see my goal and how far it is into it   so that's quite cool i like that the only thing  i struggle to really understand a bit more of   is like how does it really relate like a project  i i guess you've got goals here and what they're   on track and threads and conversations that you're  having but there's not really any way to sort of   micro manage the project to some extent but  then again does uh do we sort of like do that   as a sort of default when again tasks might not be  really that vital to a project um dependent really   is but again is aiming to take the sort of the  the goal the goal as the focus not necessarily   the task but i can create a goal for personal as  well if i wanted to um i can create one for the   organization so you know win big contract it's a  very generalized goal and it's going to have no   metric because it doesn't really have really any  metric and i can make this one a company-wide goal   and obviously invite people and connect them to  the resources that they need i can connect i can   create projects based on this objective so if i  zoom out you can see here that this is obviously   got a bit of a different status and i can see the  sort of ones that i'm contributing towards giving   the status and updates to be honest i i think it's  a little bit sort of less granular as other stuff   but then again this is probably where some  project managers can sometimes go overkill   when they're using an application so workflow  is something quite interesting so you can have   workflows for things that you do they give a  great example in the video of like somebody uh   doing a workflow for somebody on boarding them  so you could create an onboarding workflow like   where things get updated to so just to give  an example of what a workflow looks like   you can connect up things like text at to-do's  so it could be a simple list forms embed approval   email post slack sauna so things can be updated  automatically like for example you have a new   employee you could do a to-do list get ready sort  of make a to-do list of what has been done email   them post on slack when it's announced introduce  some access to box um you know what actually   maybe create a folder based on them and start  connecting box etc so you get the idea and you   can sort of automate step-by-step workflows for  yourself so here we go turn your day around in   15 minutes this is a template that they've made  available so here we go turn off notifications   practice gratitude what are you grateful  for so let's just do this one very briefly   let's run workflow so you can see here that if i  mark these steps as complete i've moved on and you   can see the timestamps being indicated what am i  grateful for catalog i don't know and i can also   do this one mark step is complete and as you can  see i'm done so that's the whole process done um   but it's quite helpful for being sort of if you  had a more sort of work based one then you can do   um you could create little workflows for your own  sort of wake up and you can see it's sort of a and   the assignments that have been done across the day  too so you can also see the people inside certain   teams and things like that using that which  is quite cool i'm just going to quickly show   you what a workflow added to the home page looks  like let me demonstrate that let me find a way to   pin here we go so you can see the workflow  here that's come on and i can see how many   times i've executed it as well so if i want a  workflow there so the one thing i really like   about this application is you've got everything in  a glance right here you can modify it create it to   what you want i like the fact that you can really  go deeper on goals and sort of look more focused   towards it it takes the whole like micro managing  of a goal out of the way i like the workflows   i think i mentioned that the projects are very  bare and basic i like the fact that you can search   things that you do there and i love this home  page as a modification set up so this at this   application actually has some potential i like the  way that they're bringing it closer to the heart   of what's happening in a team and i like the way  that it sort of focuses a bit more on your own   productivity too still um i wouldn't say this  i would say this application is very early days   i think it's got some good potential but i'd  like to see how it evolves how it becomes more   of a dashboard for your own team productivity but  interesting but interesting at that and i will   be keeping my eye on catalog and how it evolves  in the next couple of weeks i think that's very   cool in terms of the team postings and things like  that i love the design like the design is stunning   minimal easy to use and i think it's uh got a good  start to it but guys i hope you found that this   one useful you can find out more about it below  and i'll make sure include all the details there   if you're new here it'd be great to have you as a  subscriber so please do hit subscribe so folks if   you want to check out i've got a medium as well  where i'm writing all about apps like this if you   want to check it out it'd be linked inscription  you can get access to the media membership which   means you can read all the articles as part  of the medium plan thank you very much folks you
