hi students in this lesson I'm going to teach you about sneaky schwa so that you don't add an extra schwa sound to a word where it doesn't belong this is something that happens quite a lot but I don't think it sounds very good in once so I want to teach you the right way to say these words so let's take for example the word struggle so you may be struggling to carry your heavy bag up the hill is very heavy so you're struggling to carry it when I say this word with sneaky schwa it actually sounds like struggling struggling three syllables struggling but the best way to say it is just with two syllables struggling let's have a look at the IPA strug Ling I'm not struggling to carrying my back let's look at the second words now which is bustling so we use this word which is an adjective to describe a busy place so you could have a bustling market you could have a bustling town center and when we have a look at the IPA for that word it's quite interesting because we have the word bus like the bus that you get on when you're going to work something is missing why it's because we have a silent T it's not bust Ling is just bustling so we say this with in two syllables bustling not bustling that is the way of saying it was a sneaky while we don't want that okay number three is shuffle the verb is shuffle the in-form is shuffling let's have a look at there IPA shuffling not suffering the cards just I'm shuffling the cards now da da da da da da da number four is wrestle verb is wrestle the in-form is wrestling so this word is a little bit difficult because we've got a were which is not in the pronunciation and we've got a turf which is not in the pronunciation so we've actually got two silent letter sir for that for that sport where people hit each other with chairs and that sort of thing or you know wrestle with mud I've also seen that before that's it that's an exciting kind of thing isn't it wrestling so have a look at the IPA there you can see it looks really quite different than the spelling of the word because there's no test sound in there and there's no work to represent W because they're both silent letters so we don't want the sneaky schwa so we don't say wrestling we just say wrestling and the last way we're going to look at is the verb giggle so this is a kind of laugh a girlish laugh or a childish laugh that sort of thing so when we say the in-form we want to say giggling not giggling please don't say giggling they are giggling about something no just say geek name okay so all of these words in the infirm should have two syllables we should have struggling bustling shuffling slang giggling make sure that you don't add that sneaky sneaky sneaky schwa we don't want it in these words thank you so much for watching take a look at my video description for my links and for information about my courses thank you for watching and I hope you come back soon bye
