welcome to project zomboid a game that came out on June 20th 2011 as a pre-alpha then later on November 8th 2013 as an alpha build I got the game myself on August 8th 2018 so quite a while ago but recently my friend got the game himself and after teaching him various things about the game I thought to make this video to help out anyone who recently got the game as well and maybe finds the game very hard and wants to know how to deal with some situations first and foremost yes this is a zombie game set in America where guns at the second coming of Christ yes guns are fun to use but no you should stay away from using firearms for a while at least not soon after spawning get a base going somewhere first with a good amount of ammo then when you need to get your brain to release some dopamine go to a city you're not located in and release your gun loads I highly advise not to shoot any zombie unless you are prepared to fight hundreds and have plenty of ammo the fights can last a very long time which can cause your character to become tired and in a lot of cases causing you to run away or die so yeah guns are for mid to late game playthroughs you know in real life there's this big box that aot of us spend most of the day staring at it's called a TV yes well in zomboid for the first week of your spawning you can watch some of the life and living show which will increase your skills in carpentry cooking fishing farming foraging and trapping this is a great way to boost your skills and you can plan ahead with your character skills before starting the game if you know you will have access to electricity for the first few days and at TV the game like many survival games has a personal inventory than any backpack inventory that you find still to this day I wonder how my guy can carry a propane tank whil welding a crowbar with two hands but you need to make sure your personal inventory has the least items possible and any bag or vest or Fanny Pack you have has the most possible personally I like to have all meds and smoke related items in the vest or Fanny Pack and my personal inventory only having a water bottle or two you do this as the weight of the items is much lower for when it's inside a bag compared to when it's being carried without one and yes clothes you wear add weight so think twice about what you wear if you don't like becoming overloaded a lot have you ever found a car you wanted to have an intimate relation uh Drive have you ever found a car you wanted to drive around is what I meant but there's no keys around you need to learn about the skill that in a car fevery business they like to call Hot wiring the ability to take any car you desire is a must for anyone only needing two mechanics and one electrical skill to unlock hot wiring is by far one of the best abilities to have and especially useful for any new player as you can get away in any vehicle you find as long as there's gas in it on the topic of cars that brings me to the next tip a lot of players May argue on which is the best weapon in the game some may say the Crowbar some may say the axe ultimately I say it's any car that I'm not planning on ever using listen these cars you find in the parking lots make use of them with previously mentioned ability of hot wirring you can use all these cars to mow down all the zombies blocking you from your loot this is still somewhat risky as the car may break during your driving through the horde to that the trick is to never just Ram a full horde very simple also it's important not to panic if your car stalls or breaks with zombies near your door if the car isn't surrounded the zombies will come to the window of the seat you seated in simply press Z then select any available seat without zombies near it outside and hop out the car well done you lived if you didn't know one of the side effects to a zombie apocalypse is a broken back as you'll need to be crouching 90% of the time if you want to loot anything without having a whole city on your ass sneaking is a major way of how you should get around in the game if you want to have successful loot runs without hordes of zombies breaking through the door you sneak you want to run away from a hoorde you sneak away you spawn you sneak you are supposed to be as quiet as possible if you don't want to deal with zombies constantly coming your way so you need to get used to the Crouch button when it comes to slaughtering zombies for a new player it can be a challenge and now to make that challenge a bit more bearable you need to enable a feature before starting the world called multi-hit this feature is a most for even the intermediate players and some who even mastered the game as hitting zombies one by one is insanely difficult and I wouldn't ever recommend playing like this unless you want a really hard playthrough now whilst your legs and feet I use to walk and run a lot they are a very effective weapon against the zombies stomping on zombies heads is an easy kill for you also saving you on weapon durability and you can stand on any zombie you knocked down not letting the zombie get up or do anything giving you more control over the situations with less zombies cooking is a very important feature in the game you you can boost your characters moods alongside filling up their belly by knowing how to cook but new players might not know not to place items like the frying pan in the microwave to cook which can then cause one of the most powerful weapons to appear against the zombies if used correctly fires they warm you up when you need it and they can be created in many ways like blowing up the microwave but since fire on zomboid can be set to spread you can use it to clear massive hordes by placing a campfire somewhere lighting it and having zombies just step over it a lot of players use this strategy to clear massive hordes effectively it is a timec consuming method so make sure to have a car ready to escape in if needed and of course you need to burn any house you loot by placing some food in the oven to then know which house has been looted and which hasn't key Bings are an important thing now I don't know if the devs did this on purpose but it definitely seems it the q key can be used to shout or perform other actions but this can only ly cause so much hassle sometimes as pressing Q accidentally as you're walking around looting can happen a lot if you ain't used to playing on the keyboard or it can even happen accidentally so I suggest swapping the key bind for that to like l or something you will remember lastly I need to mention mods no this game doesn't need mods at all and can be played and enjoyed purely vanilla but the modding community on this game is honestly one of the best out there there's tens of thousands of mods to choose from and suggest newer players should check them out to maybe enrich or even ease your playthrough experience the devs even fully support the modern community and I personally feel there's plenty to choose from that will make you enjoy the game way more anyways I hope that some of these tips will help you catch a break in the world of zomboid and maybe even help you reach that one year survived Mark please leave a like And subscribe if it did it helps out a lot it's been Z KAC stay safe out there for enough zombies and I'll see you in the next video
