Project Zomboid | Build 41 | Vanilla | Ep 1

good morning welcome direct gaming i'm eric and i'm playing project zomboid admiral captain commander didn't last more than two weeks i've got to learn not to drink and play at the same time because every time i do it my character seems to die uh so that being said welcome to a new series i don't really know you know what let's just do [Music] no i don't want to do an apocalypse i mean i do i'm saying let's do let's do a vanilla one let's not use any mods i haven't done that in a long time just a good old traditional game of project zomboid but i'm going to go to um [Music] um um west point mall run somebody suggested i try doing them all not a terrible idea therefore i'm gonna spend some time in west point build up my character and then we'll head out the reason i'm going into custom is because i want to change just a couple of things nothing drastic i want to change the mortality rate from 2 to 3 days 0 to 12 hours i also would like to change advanced zombie options and reduce and eliminate the zombie respawn finally um that in world darkness at night pitch black let's save this vanilla no yeah the vanilla i don't know what i thought i needed to put an either okay uh so that's saved next let's build a character one thing i have wanted to do is actually i did the preset maybe it didn't okay i wanted to experiment so let's do an engineer do some things i haven't done before i definitely want outdoorsmen fast learner um i really like being stout it's too thick skinned i definitely want thick skinned uh what are some negative traits that i should take slow reader i don't like the vision ones cowardly clumsy makes more noise when moving definitely not no this disorganized i've done before it really hinders your ability to carry items um they say i like the things that i pick smoker definitely i try battling hemophobic again i'll not pick wrestle sleeper i get so much [ __ ] for wrestle sleeper i like rustle sleeper i don't mind it uh we'll do underweight slow healer where are we okay already hearing hearty appetite no less effective with the weapons no prone to illness okay let's try that one um i i am going to go with outdoorsman so i just hate getting a cold say what else we got here don't want those don't want that weak stomach's good really thinking maybe i should get disorganized let's play with this okay now let's how much do i have 15 i've picked outdoorsman fast learner thick skinned inconspicuous we'll do light eater seven herbalist we can learn that in game i like things that have peripheral value amateur mechanic let's do that okay now we have two so i have one electrical i have a mechanic skill so that means i just need mechanical two uh to hot wire cars and that's easy wakeful should we do wakeful i do like cat's eyes to wakeful okay so these are some traits i either have not ever used or have used very slightly i've never been a light eater i've never used prone to illness okay no no no no no okay um looks wrong thing stat stash man okay this dude is the stash man let's go ahead and play first house and i already hear zombies one's getting munched on over there i'm inconspicuous stashman is inconspicuous several of them okay let's see what we have in this place uh zombie this is at the most basic zombie level zombie population is currently at its minimum i don't want any of this now there are no zombies in the house that you spawn into so you can roam around free and that's not terrible i always like to hopefully start off with a bag but you have to find bags and if a bag is not found in the first house and obviously you don't have a bag so far we don't have a bag kitchen got a lot of food now am i underweight or overweight i forget i'm underweight so i need to eat let's begin eating this pie okay now let's find some more food i need a can over the can opener to open these items coffee's good fine tea bags are good find i really want a backpack frying pan another weapon okay nothing to carry water in unfortunately oh yeah here we go let that go can opener and empty mug let's take the bowl too i take the bread knife i'll take the bread knife in the matches okay this isn't a terrible setup for the first house let's take a drink all right where are we in west point a second story house let's try and make our way over there yeah zombie populations at its minimum it'll gradually grow over time i do have the zombies set to um no respawn however that doesn't mean that they're not going to grow in population so the zombies that kill in a particular area will still have more zombies coming in oh i guess i need to start working on my alt my fingers aren't set up for all very well i don't know maybe i have to use my thumb [Music] so yeah when you begin you really want to get good at pushing i mean you really want to get good at being able to maneuver a crowd because you don't have any weapons and you have in the weapons you do have are pretty [ __ ] so i do recommend understanding how the zombies flow i'll try to explain a little bit about at least my interpretation of it along the way since i'm doing a vanilla one i guess let's look behind make sure we have some more come on you guys want to die somebody hates us here we go one hit her there we go what's point map sure since we're in west point i will happily take that uh what you want to do is you also want to check to make sure the alarms are off otherwise the alarm can go off unexpectedly where is the watch there it is and it's off and um that alarm will attract zombies hey an officer chance for a holster and perhaps even a gun i'm inconspicuous hey man how come i got this dude i want the officer have i checked these zombies oh we are a smoker but we need cigarettes you know one thing i didn't pick is lucky for a trait so that's kind of a staple of mine and now don't go over there uh police officer i'm kind of curious what it's like to be on normal is that an axe that's on axe i don't know why two all right hmm don't need it and i can't disassemble it because i do not have a screwdriver come on police officer you got straight line aside on us won't you come on over here van we're definitely going to check out the van okay officer hey we got a holster that's not bad um i believe i'm wearing sneakers i'm wearing shoes let's wear some sneaky sneakers yeah white will go good with the shirt and will look hip and cool actually it doesn't go with the shirt very well [Music] hey it's west point what do we got here do not go here megan is here someplace okay we need to find megan what's over here be brave i love you i don't really know where we are um we're in a neighborhood it's downtown just right over here it might be okay we got the officer let's go check out these double story houses in the van and the frying pan is doing decently did you see me all the way down there i'm inconspicuous you [ __ ] game inconspicuous and i'm wearing sneakers and this dude tracked me from all the way down the street i don't even know where this dude came it's in decent condition that's good oh no it's summertime in fact uh i should just rip this up so we have some clothing i have looks kind of stupid on this dude but i made my decision really see the house and the way that the tiles break it it's weird looks all pieced together like lego to lego house oh i think we got some to feel a feel the effects of being overweight and here that's good mulder no we have a key no gas did you cologne we do not need 26 wow let's see what kind of condition this vehicle is in it's pretty good 260 horsepower not bad this really is not a bad vehicle yeah we'll use it if we find some gas there's no another vehicle okay if we can sneak by these guys being inconspicuous and all [Music] [Music] anything in the washer or dryer no a lot of food we need to eat and we need a backpack bleach peanuts wine water bottle gonna drink this we're not gonna get drunk there's no effects of being drunk until you're in a vehicle and we are going to fill the empty bottle and we can drop in the unnecessary mug and bowl now that'll help alleviate some weight uh so with a backpack i saw somebody standing out there but i think it was just the dead body out of the corner of my eye what kind of education are we gonna get out of here um yeah we haven't read anything hopefully we find a backpack up here all the doors appear to be shut just the way i like it briefcase it's something i guess how much weight do we have in there capacity four it's almost not worth it but sure my briefcase full of food that's pretty much full i don't know if somebody's on to us maybe we can expect some company well someone's knocking on the door anything of value plunger is a weapon a shitty weapon don't really want soap yet okay i think it's here nothing else important in this room [Music] guitar oh here we go [Music] all of this well why'd you do that [Music] we look ridiculous oh box nails always good to [Music] we've been all through here yeah we've been all through here trying to figure out where the [ __ ] we are i think i know where we are i think we're uh right outside of downtown i think the river's just right over here maybe i could be wrong there we go one's down [Music] gotta get that timing down okay now we're feeling the effects of not having a cigarette we need smokes if we're where i think we are we're kind of close to gigamar maybe but we may not be where i think there's more in the trees here i think somebody heard me no okay i heard me those three heard me i mean are we dealing with just three okay four come on do your work night stick the zombie eliminating weapon you are smoke smoke cigarette cigarettes yes i'll turn off the flies that's another thing somebody suggested i do not mind the flies but i guess i could see how people can find them annoying so i will turn them down i forgot i had extra [ __ ] on me too okay so that's it the shotgun won't fit in there we need to find a home or at least a place to save temporarily did you see me from all the way over there been eating your carrots these are you fancy i do kind of want to work this way so let's work this way and then we'll check out this place it's weird playing a normal game of zomboid without insane zombie population i don't feel like i have the need to get out of town right away i haven't played like this in a long time [Music] letter opener i am going to skip over [Music] it's got to be more out front [Music] tv i forget about tv life and living yeah we'll just keep that turned down because i think something may be on soon don't quote me on that i don't know the best tv channel schedule everyone always tells me and i read it and then the times escape me i'm sure somebody will inform me and let me know okay yes [Music] we'll now learning today outdoor life gonna be a survival skill survival show or a bathroom fishing that'll be incredibly helpful because if you know me i fish a lot like the reason why i purchased zomboid is because the fishing emulation so here we go yeah we have one in electrical we just need one mechanic so we can start hot wiring cars i know how to build [ __ ] like this uh engineer aerosol bomb flame bomb pipe bomb smoke bomb need to get her metal working up so this character could become pretty freaking powerful along the line long down down along the line what am i saying that correctly i don't know oh oh yeah we're underweight nine mil do we have a gun for this yes uh it's not the same gun it looks like it looks like this was like 45 which is needs a magazine as a magazine i don't have the bullets we're definitely picking this up and we are going to take a nine millimeter even though there's no nine millimeter gun let's eat and get our weight up again uh let's not eat pepper leak uh flashlight's a good thing to have broom is a weapon that goes on the back i've never used it as a weapon so i don't know actually i think a garbage bag is better than a briefcase and it fits a shotgun ugh maybe not i don't know we'll get upstairs here and see if we can find another weapon and we'll be eating oh briefcase i eat oh this can come off this can come off this okay we checked in here i don't remember laundry room at the end of the hall there is a shelf and there is a hand torch i like my other flashlight better okay second story after we check the closet out disinfectant sheets disinfectant want disinfectant uh no but i'll take the cotton balls in hopes and in anticipation and in anticipation of finding alcohol disinfectant case leather glove let's go ahead and wear those needs a magazine which gun is in better condition mine or this one that's in good condition they're in both the same okay lots of guns in this house run paint shotgun shells because we have a shotgun no there's no container in here man what a character he's just full-on eclectic i got a broom i got a night stick garbage bag um i'm pretty sure i know exactly where we are yeah river's right over there and then there's the dock that's just right over here uh it's where engineer my last engineer stayed and the uh river base but i think i'm gonna wrap this up here for the dates it's first day down a little tired i'm gonna put him to bed and i'll start in the morning this is not a bedroom for uh what's this dude's name stashed
