hello everyone so today I wanted to come out here and talk about creating a morning routine and today I'm gonna be sharing with you my morning routine to intern hopefully inspire you to create a morning routine or a schedule or to modify your current one and so if you're new to my channel welcome I'm a homeschool mom of five little ones ranging from newborn to eight years old and today I wanted to go ahead and share with you a little bit about why is it important to set up a morning routine a lot of you guys and you email me and you ask me questions such as how can I about homeschool multiple children I'm having a hard time I feel like my time just flies by and a lot of you feel like um the day just goes by and you have accomplished nothing and so today I'm gonna talk about how creating a routine is actually going to help you with that problem so I understand that no one's life is perfect every single day and that none of us live robotic lives and that you know there's gotta be days in which we can't really follow a schedule let's be realistic kids got sick or we just go through things in which we can't stick to a particular schedule but having a schedule in place that creates a routine and a flow of day will actually change your life it's going to help you be more effective more productive more intentional it's gonna help you reach your goals that you want to reach and so the number one thing you have to do is create a schedule and so I am a true believer in black schedules or what some people call time boxing and basically is setting up particular time blocks throughout the day where you do certain activities and it's not like setting up like 9 a.m. you're gonna do math 10 a.m. I cover the reading 11:00 a.m. you gonna do science it's not like that because that's a very strict schedule and it's very hard to stick to a schedule like that but it's more like a time block like for example like our homeschool time block for the core subjects is 2:12 and so we have a three-hour block there where the kids can duel subject take a break and you know there's a lot of flexibility there because you don't want to set unrealistic schedules that you will not be able to follow you're gonna just frustrate yourself and it's not gonna go well and so once you create a schedule for yourself of you know how you want your data flow then you want to have some type of alarms set up so for example I use an app that that helps me create my my um my black schedule and then it sends me reminders and so it's their autonomy you know right now it's your your wakeup time right now is your read a lot of time with your kids right now is this and so it sends me reminders but you can you across do it on your phone you could do it if you have a watch and whatever you want but setting up alarms it's gonna be extremely helpful for you so I'm gonna go ahead and share with you guys how my routine goes with the five kids and the home schooling because a lot of you really want help with the home schooling and how to get by your date with home schooling so I'm gonna share with you my morning routine specifically and so it's gonna be from 5:30 a.m. to 12 noon and I feel like we accomplished so much because we had this morning routine and I hope that it serves to help you guys so I 5:30 in the morning I wake up and it's reading that hard for me I'm used to waking up early and I've been waking up at 5:00 a.m. for many for many many years so it's really not hard it's just getting into the habit in fact the most successful people wake up really early and and it's just it just makes your name so much more productive and it's only hard in the beginning and then it really just becomes a habitual and your body will automatically just wake up so I wake up and I I like doing my Bible time and my workout in the morning so I always tell moms you know if you are not taking care of yourselves you're not gonna be able to take care of your children the reason that a lot of moms you know last having your children and become these monsters reactive monsters is because you're not taking care of themselves they have to take care you have to take care of yourselves every single day before your kids wake up have some a long time where you're working out you're taking care of your body so in the morning I'm either doing strength training some stretching cardio doing something for my body even if it's just 5 10 15 minutes whatever it is that my body can do that day it's not very strict and so I do some type of workout and I also want to do something for my spiritual being so I wanted to connect with God in the morning so I have my scriptural writing in the morning and what I mean by scriptural writing is that I like copying books from the Bible and so right now I'm going through part of Proverbs and so been doing that for months now it's just it takes a long time sometimes sometimes I skip a day or I don't do it so it just takes a really long time but in the morning I like to do my scripture writing where I'm copying the Bible and I'm learning about Scripture I'm soaking Scripture and I'm meditating on these many scriptures I also like to do my gratitude journal if I don't do anything else in the morning having my gratitude journal and my time with God where I'm pray in prayer it's all I need and so my gratitude journal I've I've kept for about 10 years now and it's basically like a journal where I write down like other things that I'm grateful for because I feel like when you write down all the things that you're grateful for your opening up yourself to receive more of that in your life and you're going to feel like a millionaire when you're focusing on all the great things you have in your life big and small so I'm grateful for all the things even for just a little flower girl or growing in my garden or you know the fact that my newborn is actually sleeping two hours now I'm grateful for that it's progress and I'm grateful for the big things my family's health and my family and my house and all the great things you know and so I am also thankful for in my journal I am grateful for now write it down for the things that I have not yet received because I like to put in my faith action so I like writing down the things that I want to see my life happen and I write them down as if they've already happened thank you God because I gotta have this or thank you God because I overcame this and I cannot tell you how many times I look back into my journal and I'm like wow look at all these things that I wrote down that I that I hadn't received and how it seemed beautiful so I really recommend a gratitude journal so I do my morning time from 5:30 to 6:30 where I do a little workout I do my little time with God my gratitude journal my morning hygiene take a shower get ready it's really important the morning to get dressed get out of your pajamas even if you don't stay on mom throw homeschooler get out your pajamas get dressed for the day maybe put a little light makeup on you want to feel good about yourself you want to take care of yourself take care of your skin put some you know lotion on maybe some put some perfume on just so you can feel good about yourself it's really gonna set your day so once I have all that say in care of I wake up my two oldest kids and I like starting off with the two hardest subjects or the hardest subject which is in our household this map and I guess for a lot of people is math and so we start off with math and with instruments so my two oldest kids they play well told my kids play violin and one of them play piano so I had them start off their instruments in the morning and their math my oldest does her math online teaching textbooks and I highly recommend it if you have a large family or even if you don't and you want to have your child do self learning discovery learning on independent learning because this is a curriculum in which they do it on their own it's self grading she keeps a notebook where she works out the problems but then she doesn't in the computer she inputs the answer into the computer which is great and so in the morning she's working on her math and my other daughter is working on her violin whatever her teacher has a sign that week she's working on her violin she's working on her math with me so I go back and forth been around I would say like 7:30 I wake up the other kids the other three kids to the smallest and I got them started with their day and everything got him dressed happening brush your teeth and so on but in the morning before my kids even get downstairs they have to have their beds done their teeth brush their hair done they're dressed you want to instill these habit into children at an early age the simple task of doing your bed and having your room clean is something that you may think is small but actually when you have that those small disciplines that they transfers on to your daily life to all other areas in life and I would say if you if you want to change your life start with little things be faithful with little things like cleaning your room making your bed having your room clean it's so important every day and I and I understand you know we're gonna have our moments there's gonna be days well you're gonna get you're gonna get bombarded with laundry you're just gonna have so much going on but you just pick up the next thing you and you get up and try again and you know you want to throw these values into your children where they get up every day and they make their beds even if it's not perfect and you're going to see that developing this discipline since your children is going to transfer on to other areas in life and so then around 8 o'clock we have our breakfast and devotional time so while we have breakfast I read the kids are devotional and it's wonderful devotional I'll link it below it's basically a devotional that ties God and science together and it gives them like a science lesson and then it talks about God and it's beautiful they learn about both things I'll link it in the description box isn't that together we talk chair kind of like you know have a good time and then around 8:30 or so we have our circle time in our read-alouds before we headed into our circle time and I read aloud again the discipline you're done with your breakfast put your dish straight into the dishwasher you want to create these habits within your children so that they learn to pick up after themselves it's not only gonna help you and your household it's gonna help them in their character and so throughout the day right away clean up after yourselves right put everything into the dishwasher even if they can't reach it let's have them put them put it on top of the counter around the sink somewhere but have them clean up their areas when they're done eating every single day we move on to circle time and Reed allows for circle time with to a little memory board where the kids memorize different things every month they memorize on him they memorize a poem they memorize things about civics about science about geography different things and I've made a video of our morning time memory board and I'll link it below in the description box we also have a read-aloud basket and it has really shrunk now that I have so many little ones but I do try to read a little bit every morning from our reader loud basket even if it's just 15 minutes really important if there's anything that you could do for your children every day is read to them it's really helpful for all areas in academics and if there's anything that you could do to get them ahead in academics it's actually just read to them so it also helps develop a bond between you and the child when you read to them it's really beautiful they're really gonna have that in their hearts as they get older they're gonna remember mommy reading to them and that one feeling of you connecting with your children okay so then we move on to our core work and that's 9:00 to 12:00 before we go into our core work I focus on my kindergartener and my one-year-old I try to fill their cups so what do I do I sit down on the carpet with them I do activities with my one-year-old I have made activities videos with these activities that I do with him and I'll link it below in the description box you guys to see what I do with my wander with me simple things like find motor stuff just like nursery rhymes little things like that and I'll link it below for you guys you could see like a sample of what we do for our 15-minute sessions with him and then so sit down with both for them and I read to them like little toddler books preschool books and they love it and sometimes my older ones come along because they want to hear anyway and so I work with them then I bring out a big bin of like different toys that I rotate out for my one-year-old and I let him play there on the carpet it's really important to to integrate your little ones and whatever you're doing you know cuz a lot of you guys asked me what do you do with your little ones I I include them and whatever I'm doing if I'm washing the dishes they're right next to me if I'm homeschooling there in the homeschool room and I have a little gate where they can't get out and I usually said like a little basket for them to pick things out little toy rotation for them little different toys in there that they can play with so I set him up there and he loves playing with the different toys that I rotate out and then I saw my core work with my three older children and what I do is I do rotations I do individual rotations with each child during the core work what we're doing is since they've already done their math we do spelling phonics grammar reading and writing and do I check in with every child I start with my kindergartner then I go to my second grader and then I go to my fourth grader because my fourth grader is the one that least needs to help I always leave her for last and I start with the child and it's most of my hope and the child is gonna take the most of my time so I work on making the gardener and I do all the subjects with her and then I go on to my second grader and I just check in with my second grader I I grade her work that she's been working on she knows what she needs to do she knows he needs to do how many pages she needs to do for each subject and I check her work to see how she's been doing I ask her any questions I grade it I work with her it's really important to grade your child to work and have them go correct it a lot of times as home schoolers fell in grading and correcting our kids work and having them to corrections but it's really important because that's how they learn so that's what I do during these rotations I'm working with them making sure that they were finishing their stuff that everything's being done correctly then with my last child I check in with her I see how she's doing what grade she got in her teaching textbooks that morning I checked with her work see how she's doing she's had any questions because I do tell her if there's anything that you need help with and that you cannot do on your own skip it and what you come to work with me we'll do it together and that's what we do um so that's how we do our rotations and then they can work in their individual desks and I randomly just go and check up on them because kids can't get distracted and we all know it they could start doodling or drawing or talking to each other so I call and I check on them I usually have my baby on the baby carrier or I have her next to me on the sofa on her little bassinet she's always with me she's integrated into our schedule so that's how we work things with her so that's how we do work or work we are well done before 12:00 and every time the kids do a subject they got to take a break I like giving the kids a break i want to challenge my kids but i don't want to burn them out i don't want them to feel overwhelmed and i don't want them to feel like this is not enjoyable so like for example every time you finish a subject they got to take a 15-minute break if you finished your spelling they take a 15-minute break in the 15-minute break they can go play they can go take a toys out they want to play with they can go finish up some art stuff they're really artsy these girls and so they love arts and crafts and are and drawing so they sometimes go work on some of those projects that they've been working on sometimes they just maybe want to do something else so it really just depends they want to come play with your little brother they can on the carpet whatever is that they want to do but I want to give them that 15 minute break so they can refresh before they go to the next subject and so once we do that they go to other subjects we finish the core work then we have a lot of free time so as you can see it's 9:00 to 12:00 that's the slot for times for home school and during that time the kids take breaks I take breaks to feed the baby I can go get a snack for them whatever it is it's very laid-back environment it's not like just sit down for three hours straight and do work so by the time noon comes all of the school work is done except the electives and the elective is just really simple it's just 30 minutes in the afternoon where we rotate from science to history to arts different things to do our electives 30 minutes or 45 minutes we do our electives but our core work is finished by noon which is huge for us because we feel like we have accomplished so much by the time it's noon so that's really that's really been really important to us and so three things that I want to also recommend when setting up your schedule is one have a meal plan because when you have a meal plan you know what you're gonna eat everything you don't have to go crazy thinking like what am I gonna cook today oh my goodness and it's just crazy and chaotic and you may not have all the ingredients and it's just stressful for you so before you go grocery shopping every week or every two weeks or every month however often you go have a meal plan and I have made I think I made a video one of my previous meal plans I wrote eight different ones but I'll link one below for you guys that I recorded definitely have a meal plan it's gonna make your life so much easier you also like I mentioned before you want to clean up as you go throughout your day don't let your dishes rack up right away when you finish with a dish put it away if you see something on the floor pick it up we have something like a little basket where I take up and down the steps so whatever you know doesn't belong downstairs I put it in the basket and I take the day I bring that basket up and put it upstairs so we put things in baskets we put things in the dishwasher we put things away we clean up as we go so that we're not letting things accumulate I have made videos when I had time when I really had more time to make videos I made a video of our morning and evening cleaning routines I would like to share with you guys and I'll link it below in a video it was a few years ago but it's still the same concept and you guys can learn so much from those videos I got a lot of ideas from the flylady I will recommend the book called sink reflections amazing because it talks about soul cleaning it talks about how you really keep your house clean it's really really an amazing book traveling and I'll link it below for you guys so that's it guys I don't want to make this video really long I just want to let you know that you can change your life if you create a good morning routine for yourselves you create a schedule for yourselves you will change your life you will be more productive more effective you'll be happier you'll complex more you'll meet more of your goals and you'll know that you're really going to towards the direction that you want to go to instead of at the end of your day feeling like what happened like I did nothing today I wasted my time on social media and mindlessly googling things on the internet that I didn't really have to do and so that's how days will go by months will go by years will go by and you will not be accomplishing your goals if you don't have a schedule so I really highly recommend for you to have a schedule for yourselves and stick to the schedule as much as you can yeah there will be days where you will fall off the schedule and that's okay we all failed every day because no one is perfect no one's given a perfection token and and we all fail and we all have our struggles no one's life is perfect when you're looking at someone's life from the outside you're not realizing those other struggles that those people have so just realize everyone has struggles everyone has bad days everyone has piles of laundry sometimes everyone has dirty dishes but the point is that when you have a schedule of flow day when you have a routine you're going to get back up the next thing you're gonna pick up where you left off so I hope you guys have enjoyed the video hope you've gotten some tips here and how to set up a morning routine if you haven't already done so please subscribe to my channel check out all the other videos subscribe to my email list so that you get an email every time I make a video and you don't miss anything also let me know if you guys want to see like our afternoon routine because really our days split up into morning and afternoon and I think in the afternoon we'll do a lot more fun things and it's it's just beautiful the way it split up into two different sections so let me know if you guys want to see that videos Wow on to the next time it's great speaking to you mwah bye
