so that just happened ups guy showed up push rods are here motor will be in tomorrow and running i'm gonna throw this thing together tonight i'm ready we'll get this thing all buttoned up put together we'll have it running tomorrow this is great a mouse house see it right there freaking mouse it's got a whole bunch of babies hooked to it now i got to clean this motor out i'm again rage war on these things [Music] do you wanna introduce the cat okay sure this is pepper she's three months old she's playful and loves toys and she's a wild child what did we get in the mail guys someone sent us some kitty toys this is from troy parrish anyways they've been testing it out and she loves the toys what do you guys tell troy thank you thank you troy the cat helped with the circle of life she's a good little mouser all right so i evicted the mouse it's gone there's a little little house that left and it doesn't look like too bad i got a little cleaning up to do stinking critters nothing's been there for like two weeks it's nuts heads are all on i've ran through the torque pattern torque them down we're going to run back through it just to make sure they all beat and call it good okay she's torqued throw some rocker arms on it and get those all adjusted up then we can put the intake on it valve covers i like to put just a little little blob of stuff under all the push rods we're gonna prime this thing before we crank it over so this probably isn't necessary but i do it so these are one to seven ratio rockers so they'll make the cam work a little bit better i'll show you in a second why we had to get push rods don't make sense the other ones were a little shorter than these and it wasn't going to put them where they needed to be all right i'll show you what i'm talking about here so this lifter is clear down so we want it running right on this edge because when it goes up it's going to roll to the other edge it's going to go from side to side on that on the tip of that valve and with those other rockers or other push rods it was clear at the back edge it was going to fall off wasn't gonna work right so now they're proper they're right this thing's gonna run good so there's an order that we have to do all these push rods in some people say you take zero lash out of them then go a whole turn some say half a turn some say three quarter i'm a three quarter turn guy i like to go three quarters that's what we're going to do it's always seemed to work pretty fair for me we'll get it set up first then we'll start on number one do one two skip a few five seven exhaust and we'll do the other side and we'll roll it 180 and we'll do the rest of them all right so we'll do this first one give you kind of the gist of what we got going down here so i'm just filling for where it just starts to touch and then i'm gonna go three quarters of a turn right to there and then i'm gonna take this thing and i'm gonna lock it down like that that one's done there we go now i just got to do the rest of them like that you just have to make sure that the lobe is on the bottom side i'll do that and then we'll get after it all right she is all rockered all adjusted up gonna go ahead and slap the intake on it right now so we're to this point got my priming tool that i made we're gonna pour all this oil i got a bottle of zinc for the cam pour all this in and then we'll prime it a little need a few quarts of oil in it and then we'll pump some up through its system let's see oil pressure plug is plugged in the front we shouldn't blow oil too far that lifter's got it that one's got it these ones have it all right say that's a success we got oil pressure we'll clean the intake up now and bolt it on all right we're gonna get the intake gaskets on i don't like using gaskets on the end i like just silicone because this doesn't leak show you what i got just around here we'll take and smear this down we just don't want to leak in water all right now we'll stick a gasket on it set an intake on this thing okay so that's that's that we'll torque them down put the valve covers on motor is together it's right there i got to get some longer valve cover bolts i didn't plan on that so i'll get those tomorrow morning and it will get stuffed in that truck so i'll give you a little update bumper is all painted up she's party mounts are all done it's not mounted on it's just setting there because i painted it i'm going to take it off to get the motor out make it easier but i hope by tomorrow night she's driving all right back in the shop today i got a little bit more done haven't videoed but maybe the walk around motor is ready to go in accessories are on it valve covers are all bolted down i went to the store got those bolts all good to go so project now is to hurry and pull the front bumper off jerk the motor out and then stab this thing we'll have it in there before we know it one small problem we've ran into here is i'm running efi on this thing and i got to block that hole off because i don't need a fuel pump i took the fuel rod out of it don't need it so i traced the thing out on that little chunk of metal i'll cut it out we'll grind it up and it'll be a block off plate so this is what it looks like right now pretty rough i'll show you what this belt sander can do it's pretty awesome that's what it looks like afterwards i'll drill those two holes and we'll bolt it on all right we got it all drilled put a little silicone on it you shouldn't ever have to worry about it again all right job done now we're ready to put this thing in motors out setting on the floor we gotta throw the clutch and the flywheel on that motor so i'll do that get it hanging on the crane and then you'll see me put it in all right we're gonna throw the old flywheel on a little lock tight to go on the bolts [Music] all right they're tight okay we're just sticking the old clutch back in this because it was in good shape that's my line up tool you want to make sure you don't put that on backwards like i just did we're going to put a clutch in this thing before very long i'm sure all right and if the lineup tool comes out in and out easy you're good okay so we got to stuff these kind of down in here i really might be able to fish them right up in we'll try it all right so if you have the transmission out of this it's easier to stuff a motor down in it but i already had the and drive lines and all that plunder all hooked up because i was making it all and i didn't want to take it out this bottom bolt right here is the only real hard one and once you get it started it's not hard it's just awkward one there's two it's not gonna do it not gonna do it it's a wrencher ratchet wrenches are awesome that one's tight i'll repeat on this side then we'll set the motor down in there seems to be a sensor like square in the way oh we're we're right there now when all else spells hit it with a hammer [Music] i hit it and i didn't do anything if you could see it it'd help all right we're gonna double hand this thing nothing we thought it was going to be easy winner go some nuts on that then we'll lift it in the air and start bolting this thing together we'll put his first of many sets of header gaskets on i imagine until he spends good money i'm gonna get tons of comments why we didn't do this why we didn't do that because a 16 year old kid's building this and he's doing it with his own money he's put his hard-earned money into this all he could afford these aren't the best header gaskets there's a lot of stuff that we didn't put that was the best we're using a used clutch the belts are all used still but it's because he's out of money and he wants it running which all of us can relate to that so here we go we're putting junk header gaskets in that are gonna burn out we're sure of it when they do maybe i'll have some more money and we can put good ones in it it looked like it was gonna work oh and it's candy [Music] just like so that wasn't nearly as bad as i expected it to be i thought it was going to suck way worse than that so that's good we'll do the other side and we can lift it up put all the bell housing bolts in it probably put the [Music] distributor on it spark plug wires tighten all the belts hook the hoses up and then we'll set the front clip in here i got front and full oil transmission transfer case bulb still got to check the rear end oh all right well slap some bell housing bolts in little drive lines pretty close to the head drill all right one side's in and then we're going to burn down go watch us some baseball landman's playing the game then we'll come back and finish this tonight he can help he ought to be here for it that way he can either see his money go down the drain when it blows up or to run good as you're filming along here by yourself trying to get everything put together and keep it all straight sometimes you screw up this is one of those times i don't know if any of you know where this goes but i do and i got one of two choices i can either pull the motor back out or i can pull a transmission out because this is a throw out bearing that makes the clutch work i screwed up one little thing i even thought about i'm like hey i should get that and put it in right now no i remember i didn't we're back this kid's home from his baseball game how'd you do we won so now we're fixing the screw up because land wasn't here supervising so so things went south huh so what we've decided we're gonna do there's four bolts that hold the transmission to the bell housing we're gonna pull those out real quick and try to just slide the transmission back on the frame enough to slide the throw out bearing into position slide it back together hopefully it's like a 20 minute fix and we're back in business going together we'll see all right this is the current status we've got transmission pulled back enough i can slide this up in there and put it back in and then hopefully go back together all right so we didn't video it it turned out to be a pain but it's done it's back in i think the clutch is gonna work we're gonna test it here in a second land is tightening a couple of bolts up we'll get get some more done that's the clutch linkage right there go ahead land push it it's doing its thing now okay let off all right it's another day you gotta wake up come to the shop go to work so today's project is to make this thing make noise first off is this holley sniper kit so i've got i mean it's pretty basic this part just looks like a carburetor sets on here my throttle linkage is going to hook right up to it it's all going to be pretty basic and easy and then i got to put a fuel pump in it i'll walk you through the whole process and we'll get it put on and this thing will be close to running continuing with our theme of this truck cheap we bought ourselves some knockoff flowmasters here they're called super bees now we're a winner [Music] just like so had to call on the troops and get grandpa here yeah needed the muscle front bumper's on hopefully the winch will be here today [Music] i got to get the front clip all bolted back on and we'll move on to exhaust and then some wiring today this truck is gonna run and drive so it's been a minute since i did any updating here let me walk back exhaust is exhausted all the way up it's all tied in so really i got to put some fuel i got to tie into the fuel pump i'll show you i got it mounted it's right there so i got a loop up into there tied in and back over a little bit of fuel work then build a heat shroud around it so it doesn't get hot and then some wiring this thing is getting there and then all of this the holley sniper stuff put that on and this kid is riding passenger seat while i do burnouts no oh yeah it's happening dealing with fuel system right now getting everything plumbed how we need it we'll zip tie that all up right there i'm pretty happy with that flow so we've got just normal gravity feed pressure coming to the back side of the pump so that's why we could use that stuff there and as soon as it hits the pump it jumps up to 50 psi so a little putting uh bigger clamps on now we'll do a loop-de-loop we'll come off of there back in and tie into that i'm doing that because i don't want to run this rubber line the whole way i have this really good metal fuel line that runs right up to where it needs to go so and then we'll just build a cover so it covers all this and it'll be fine i think we'll grind that up drill a hole and just weld that onto the exhaust so right now it's set up to go in right there out right there we're going to switch it to come in right there because it makes it easier but i still have to come out of there we can make all that work simple enough we've got some stuff handled it was pretty boring and tedious so we didn't film it because it's just a lot of hooking stuff up and but fuel system's done it's all plumbed return everything's in right now we're cleaning this wire loom up getting it all tucked down where it goes and everything hooked in we're gonna be really close to putting some water in it and giving it an old test fire so we still got a little wiring to do stay tuned it'll run what's going on in here i bought lights for this go ahead and turn her on it doesn't even run and we're buying lights we've got the cool lights on green red yellow i'm so amazed it can even go with music too bad you don't have a stereo what's about to go down we're gonna program this we'll see if it blows up or goes okay crank it it didn't even pop okay go crank it again [Applause] okay quick something right it's just making you a little excited will you turn the key on for a second let me see if i got power here okay i got power shut down crank it just a little okay [Applause] you got a little bit of fuel is it out of fuel yeah is that why my goodness all right so they're thinking that gas might help the situation do you think so it's not gonna hurt it it might not hurt okay yeah it's got gas but we got no sparky sparky for some reason look who just showed on up hello paul just said it's good that you came because we need you for some reason what do you need him for he needs a tilt deck trailer apparently he doesn't need you he needs your trailer i bought myself a forklift and i need to haul it home [Music] [Applause] okay i'm a freaking idiot i had the wrong one hooked up no i never plugged the dang distributor in but is it an easy fix it's an easy fix yeah just gonna plug it in yeah it's like 29 seconds here i'm glad i figured it out before i jerk the dang distributor out because that's where i was headed okay crank it yeah i shoved off losing it for some reason crank it so what you doing now well i'm bypassing the tank switcher because it doesn't work evidently it's not switching we're just going to hook straight to the one but then i got a bypass the return as well so yeah so you got them problems are solved you got them switched yeah okay land crank it uh oh [Music] crank it [Applause] still ain't getting fuel okay crank it again [Applause] nope give her a cranking and we'll see what it says turning all the stuff off the headers whoa yeah it's like we got a spark plug wire on wrong or something ain't right here so there's a point in time where uh you just cut your losses and you walk away from stuff for the day that's where i'm at right now to that point i'm at that point i was at that point at nine o'clock this morning when stuff just wasn't going good and then it just tumbled from there all right so i'm gonna stop doing this i'm gonna go get myself a new toy that i purchased from a shop buying stuff always makes you feel better right so i'm gonna do that and i'll deal with this tomorrow yep let's go get it she's a jewel the old betsy need some love give it to her are you gonna keep her patina or are you gonna give her a good paint job i'm just gonna use it that's what i'm gonna do i'm gonna make everything work right which it mostly does and i'm just gonna use it this one's not even a standard [Music] she's a jewel but daring you can hear dar taking off he just hauled it up here for me can't see him yeah you can hear him though that's him in the semi he's got to go close swim and pull down tonight at the campground so he's out all right so the ups guy showed up made landon's day what do we got we got here a apex badlands 12 000 pound winch for the front of that oh yeah it's gonna look good in there it will so we'll get that all out get it put in there so it's a new day today i'm gonna pull the valve cover off and see what i screwed up i hope that it's something i screwed up and that the head does not have a leaky valve or something on it because that's gonna suck but pretty 99 sure that i just screwed something up now i'm gonna fix it and then we're gonna go do burnouts in this truck hipper back there you go that's how it was engineered look at that almost like we knew what we were doing when we build it that thing's pretty freaking sweet in the front of there it is now you see why we bent those so did mr winch line up pretty cool gonna look good on there we got the old uh badlands all mounted up on the front worked out well if you were wondering that's why i put the bend in it so that the winch would fit up in there it's all tucked in nice everything looks good so front bumper's done we're dealing with this problem and i don't know what the crap's going on but the rockers are just loose like floppy loose i ran through these things and i'm gonna lock it down like that i don't know what went down i don't know i got no answer but we're readjusting them right now and we'll fire it up and see if that fixed them i hope if not we got some other lifter problem going on or something i don't know what it is but we'll figure it out all right so they're all uh adjusted again spin it over [Applause] there they are doing their job so we're gonna throw the valve covers back on it i'd start it without but it sprays oil everywhere and i just don't want oil everywhere so we're going to throw the valve covers on fired up we'll see oh oh got it so we've determined that we've got bad lifters they pump up and they start letting the valves leak and it's stupid i adjusted them right the first time it wasn't even screwed up like i thought it was so i've ran through them like two or three times now and once you slack them off to zero lash it'll run good for like 30 or 40 seconds then they pump up starts missing again so i'm out put a set of lifters in it but right now i'm gonna put the interior back together let me get this all done get it put together his wiring all tucked up and we'll be finished with this thing for a while until we get some lifters so we're putting this interior back together and these bolts are broke off so i've taken and welded a nut on it i just got that side out over there so i welded a nut on it we're letting it cool down just a little bit and then we'll start working it out of there see if we can get this thing to turn i got a little movement in it i didn't get it it broke off it's right there but it came out of ways so now we've got some note we're going to grab another old junkie nut weld on it we'll get it this time that's a winner grab that but it's probably quite warm i need matt here he could test it for me so that's what she looks like that's what winding looks like we're getting this carpet in land's truck here we didn't get the carpet that had the holes in it so we had to cut these holes now we're dealing with finding these bolt holes i use an awl and the easiest way i know how to do it is you heat this sucker up until she's red hot like so and then stick it right down through the hole it melts a nice little little hole down through there and then you just tighten her up we'll do the rest of them interior done carpets all in [Music] turned out pretty fair basically we're just done with this truck as we can be right now because it's got a set of bad lifters in it they're pumping up and they are holding valves open we had grand plans of driving this thing and showing the test drive and everything but that didn't happen so expectations didn't meet reality that's what happened so land he's buttoning up a few little details putting up the the fuel tank spouts and stuff but we're gonna have to order a set of lifters and tear the intake off and put lifters in it to make it right we're done my back's tired and i'm tired and this truck's as done as it's getting for a day or two we're gonna push it out until we get parts we're done with this one thanks for watching
