what's up everybody I'm doing another video with a professional Van Company why do I like doing videos like with these professionals is because anybody that is a DIY or can all learn from the professionals but if you're also on the market for a professional then also a good way to show off some cool people so I've got Jeremy I've got Josh they are from Outpost fans we're gonna get all the information on one of their newest builds or the newest build one of the newest called Zeus yeah here we go all right well I guess we're not having Josh in here anymore he's just out yeah I got a pizza I got to go to daycare but you know all right daddy duty calls daddy duties he'll handle it all right and all right well thank you what what is your role in all of outposts we can just say that how's that uh co-owner but I do a lot of systems project management as well um a little bit of everything so Josh is being humble he does a lot more than uh project managing systems he does systems design all electrical uh he'll dabble in a little woodworking every now and then he'll dabble in some exterior installs lighting I mean you name it Plumbing oh wow that's a lot so yeah humble humble cat I usually like that because you've got everything open for me by the way this is like ridiculous no you're fine this is fine with me uh what I might have you do is actually close the back door so we can get the full effect of the back doors you certainly have a lot of gear on the outside and we I usually get to the outside of the Vans uh at the second half of the video I like to show the inside first so sure before we walk in what is the make model so we have a 2022 Mercedes Sprinter 170. just regular length 4x4 and yeah we certainly did a lot in the exterior on this one you did including what's up there which is the pop top which we're going to get into as soon as you step inside so let's step inside now is this for a client or is this for uh is this for just a spec what are we doing so this is a custom client build right now all of our builds are fully custom for all of our clients that's usually the reason they seek us out is they're not found finding something else out there on the market and we'll really we call it the white glove experience okay everything down to the screw color and uh yeah do they really yeah you already said it was a 20 22 2022 4x4 170. and does it have all the bells and whistles in the front yeah it's got a 10 inch touchscreen these are rare these days in some of the builds um but they're really better yeah for a while the chip shortage whole thing yeah they were kind of tough to get oh man I I had a 10 inch screen of mine I loved it yeah Factory swivels yeah it's kind of the only way to go it's got the 360 cams so like you said these bolts swivel they do and they're the factory so you don't have to put in the aftermarket stuff which if you can get the faster shovels a little bit better 100 we usually work a customer will bring us the van if they've found one because we'll work on not just the Sprinter we'll also do transits and promasters but primarily it's sprinters and then obviously contact you for any pricing of any of your vehicles and vessels give me a wide range if you're you're not maybe not wide maybe give me a range of what what your what Your costs are uh for a custom build out really the range is all over the place but really starts at about 75 and can go up to 200 plus for the build yeah for the build right if you're comfortable I know this is a client so I don't know if you want to you know and share too many details but maybe a range of what we're standing in today yeah totally I mean we were just at tiny fest with this van and we were telling everybody the price so it's fine so build cost on this van you're going to see today was about 180 000 and then plus the van so about 269 all in now I know that's a big number for a lot of people out there and everybody's going to be gawking and saying like jaw dropping and why why why yeah we'll get to it however do you know roughly what do you have on the Outside Alone gosh yeah probably around like 40 plus okay exactly so if you take the 40 away from that 180-ish 140 yeah 140 and then we've got the pop top which is a big that's another 20. yeah that's a big Keystone feature in the van so I mean yeah when you start putting all those things together you really see how that cost is allocated and we give really detailed estimates to our clients since everyone is so custom in nature that you can really see where all your cost is going well you talked about it uh you put a popped up on here yep um and again if you're comfortable sharing some of your products then please by all means I love you too because I'd like the people would love to hear it yeah yeah what is that one so we get these from rre Global who's out of the Las Vegas area and we are a certified installer from them this pop top actually is imported from Germany by a company called SCA okay certified by them to put it in you have to pay to get trained they come out and train you they fly out and they certify you and teach you how to put these in because it's a pretty major modification and I've done actually some high roof sprinters that have done this before this look on it what is the benefit of having this you know clamshell opening you know extra sleeping the benefit is I mean this van in particular it's for a young family so Mom and Dad are inside and we've got the flare space which we'll show later but that's a queen size bed it's a queen size bed up top so that means you can get all of your other amenities you don't have to sacrifice anything because oftentimes finding that sleeping space for the kids or the other passengers or whoever you're taking can be challenging why can't mom and dad be upstairs ah I'm sure they could be yeah it probably will yeah but they're throwing the kids up top it is pretty fun up there it's pretty cool so we deployed the ladder when you want to get up there so that ladder right there yeah just hooks onto here it does and then you climb on up it's a telescoping ladder so it'll extend up it'll hook in secures itself boom you climb up you're camping so is this the only hole that you have to cut into the roof of the the the the the Sprinter um no we have a phantom max air fan on the rear but yeah this is the main one but you cut this in and you actually reinforce it it's all braced so that way you know the vehicle is still secure and strong can carry the load oh because you're cutting a rib right here yes uh-huh yeah and obviously this is the only location for it you can't put this tent further back you can't no this is the only location it's the same pop-up top or pop-up roof uh for the 144 wheelbase and the 170. so same hole location oh it is yeah obviously with the 170 which we're in you have a little bit extra space in the back to add a fan which you did and even we're gonna get to the roof here some some containers yep again this is a family so you have seating the way we work in our process is we really try to start with the customer's Vision we say hey what's the end result what are you trying to do and then we work backwards from that so they had to have the pop top for the kids they needed a seat so they could ride safely they needed a shower they needed 12 volt AC a few other things and they say hey make that work so this is our solution because they really wanted the seat this was the specific one that they wanted because they can get it up out of the way and it's really easy to deploy pull that down grab this one yeah and this is great for maybe if you have younger kids it's got the car seat hooks the isofix hooks so it's car seat safe it's an FM VSS certified seat what does that mean uh Federal Motor Vehicle Safety standards so it's been tested by the manufacturers and such all those standards and then we custom under mount and make a bracket the brackets that we make they're in my opinion that's safer than some of the factory seating for how strong I agree yeah and I know you're a dad yes so you probably wouldn't put anything in a van that you wouldn't you wouldn't strap your own child into absolutely not no I actually have the same seat in my personal Van Well you do yeah awesome did you say who makes this one this one is from Friedman Friedman and then I do know there's a couple different brands out there so this actually brings me to another Point let's say somebody has a sprinter and they want to do the build themselves but they're not comfortable doing that and not certified can they can you install that or can you just install this we can yeah we call those a la carte installs okay so they can get in touch with us on our website outpostfans.com and yeah we do a lot of smaller stuff all the time when we can fit it into our busy schedule of custom builds uh roof racks exterior gear air compressor suspension seats Windows flares all the good stuff yeah the stuff that maybe a DIY is probably a little nervous to do because cutting a giant hole in your van can be scary if you've never done it oh yeah yeah absolutely or even making brackets to put a seat in yeah for sure seeding is something you want to get professionally done sweet overhead shelf is is that yours no this one is RB components okay uh I had one in my van yeah yeah good stuff we try to use as much local stuff as we can we're lucky that we're in San Diego so we have a lot of good partners cool in the industry really close by isn't it crazy we're like we haven't even gone into the actual van yet yeah we've gone over so much yeah right I was just telling you earlier I do my monthly rounds of uh pickups from all our suppliers and I can hit some of the best names in the industry all within the same morning and be back by lunch we go to illuminesce Agile off-road we go to to Bay marine supply RB components is a little in the other direction and Sierra Lawrence we have here too in San Diego so pretty much you save yourself lots of money on shipping a little bit yeah it'd be nice to go pick up your your stuff at will call now I see right up over your head you have actually open face upper cabinets I know this side is closed face but this is an open face was there a reason for that a client decision yeah uh so a little bit of both the client didn't want to have something going over the entry so this is a little more shallow than our normal Cabinetry and then this is just going to use for soft storage all right we're going to spin around you're gonna go now talk to me about this awesome stuff we got then honestly one of the coolest ridges I've seen which brand was that uh this is the isotherm this is the drawer 130. stainless steel I didn't even know they made a drawer 130. yeah they think it's so easy fridge freezer a lot of stuff you can fit in there uh this is probably one of my favorite fridges you can access it from the inside from the outside so a really good solution you can it's just really easy to get into I see you have the Lagoon table here but I didn't see them oh I guess the mount is over here yeah so you really in this build in this layout you're really only deploying um your dinette up here when you're kind of in that camp mode so you're going to put this down put the seat back up and then boom you've got your seating for four right up here right for yeah the family for sure most of the time they're going to be outside they cook outside a lot with uh their Grill and whatever so so this family of four is not full time in this rig this is an adventure rig yes exactly so weekends uh trips for a week two weeks here and there and right above of this awesome refrigerator you have obviously the Dual induction cooktop much needed is there a reason for location of appliances there certainly is I mean um based on what they wanted one right and then the layout too but yeah they want to be able to cook when they are using it and then you know face outside and like kind of see the view where they're at it's pretty cool right yeah exactly it's kind of like a dream like that you look out there and they're supposed to be either Beach or mountains or something yeah they do a lot yeah we went picked up the van from them right before tiny Fest where we were just at okay they had just went to Joshua Tree and then we got to give this back to them in a couple days because they're going straight to Mammoth oh wow so this is like used yeah all right well I guess that it's gonna I mean I know what this material is but this will bring up my next kind of point where what is your cabinet's face with because this does this looks brand new yeah so um it is so this is actually it's it's Fenix or Phoenix yeah we work back and forth I don't know which one it is so a tomato tomato but it's a phoenix laminate it on Baltic Birch Supply and then we actually custom milled these rounded corners and then we paint match these to the laminate Choice we'll do these with hardwood bamboo really like I said whatever the customer wants to take the palette and it looks like a maple countertop it is yeah so we've got the maple slotted ceiling we hand milled this in-house in our wood shop and then same thing with the countertop here is all Maple very light and Airy in here yeah that's what they wanted rugged exterior and then kind of light and homey on the inside most people's ask question is sleeping you know refrigerator and then toilet shower how do I do the business and how do I clean myself yeah so we have a stainless steel shower enclosure so we get these made to our spec and we have a bamboo mat in there and then we have the leveo dry flush toilet in there as well I mean it's one of my favorite toilets I don't know about you it's kind of it's our first choice all the time it is okay absolutely you're not a composting guy no nothing against combos against it we'll just prefer this yeah fair enough I'm with you my man um stainless steel I love that look to it um is it does it have a lot of upkeep to it like I mean yeah I mean you're gonna have similar upkeep just like you do at your house sure but the stainless steel is pretty bulletproof it's going to outlive the van for sure did you make this or how does that work yeah so we make these because all of our showers that we use they're different dimensions we have to change it up based on each layout in each fan since each one is so different so we custom make these with our upholsterer this is a marine vinyl so it's fully waterproof and then it's fastened in the outside so you could take it out it's got stainless steel Hardware on the inside so if you want to wipe it down and clean it if you guys have noticed really the only you have Outlets here but I don't see any switches and that is controlling the lighting water pump outdoor it is so um some people have probably seen this before but this is a switch Pro yep so it's a great solution to put multiple things on one switch panel so we've got the overhead lights we've got the shower light we've got some we call them deck lights on the outside so those are turning them on and off right now I can't see it I can't see it but uh your gray water dump this is under cabinet and then this one right here is we boost okay it says radar yeah that's funny you only have a certain amount of stickers so we have to make them work sometimes that's funny I was like I was waiting for you to get the radar I was like what is radar dude that's a Wii boost okay uh we have some other things up here we call this the monitoring console or the control center so they've got a bunch of goodies up here uh we've got battery monitor we've got water gauge we've got inverter remote we've got the heaters the thermostat one cool thing is a customer really wanted a JBL sound system in here so you've got JBL receiver we've got four speakers throughout yeah yeah it bumps pretty good we won't turn it on right now but please don't and then uh an amp as well yeah it's uh that's a Party Machine uh what is this this is a timer switch for their electric hot water heater they have a four gallon electric hot water heater it's kind of like a fail safe sure when you press this timer it's going to turn that on and activate it for that set amount of time automatically turns it off so the customer doesn't forget and leave it on I mean honestly it's I like those because we don't use them in our house yeah so we don't we don't we don't worry about hot water in a house is my point so we're going to tend to forget to turn them off yeah now we'll turn that off it's kind of set and forget I like to turn tell the customers hey turn this on in the morning part of your morning routine turned on for 30 minutes you're gonna have hot water all day yeah because that because the tank is insulated yep it keeps it hot in there for I mean like over 24 hours easily yeah easily so that's actually a pretty good call then to do it that way with the pop top you don't have a really opportunity for a fixed panel we do have a flexible 180 watt panel up there nice who makes that uh that is from sunflare yeah you are a dealer for them are you not we are yeah yeah so it sticks right to that pop top it does that solar panel we're talking slowly might as well tell me what you got for Batteries dude we have 810 amp hours of lithium batteries in here you say eight ten did you hear that correctly eight ten yeah how many batteries is that uh three yeah because they're I believe they're victron batteries uh this one actually we went with battleborn okay for the form factor yep uh we'll mix it up mostly we use victron but we'll do battleborn um again every build is custom sure you have to make it work 810 battleable gym the game changer threes in there yeah okay yeah so it's weird how I know that isn't it I know yeah it's weird I guess I'm maybe smarter than I look you know some people are probably going to say oh 180 watts is probably not enough well you are right we have a second alternator uh in the van 280 amps so yeah uh 280 amps second alternator to the nation's alternator I believe that's the one you're driving around for two hours and it charges it up yeah probably not even that long you're getting a lot of output when that's on yeah even regular idle without the high oh you still get a lot of juice you do get okay cool great let's keep moving on I mean this is all just storage I mean yeah drawers uh kind of boring over here uh I'm gonna jump up right here look at you sit on the bed so our clients for for him getting in your bed we also custom make our mattresses do you really yes nice we caught them right into the uh flare spaces yeah so it's a Sunbrella fabric that we use for the most part we'll change it up sometimes if they want something different and then we use it's a two inch high density and then a Topper uh two inch total six inch oh six inch excuse me we could do them different but most people opt for six and uh you know I know the audience can't feel what you're sitting on but that is a really nice like comforter like like Adventure comforter yes it's a Rumple blanket I feel like I'm giving a lot of shout outs but that's okay um yeah we really like using Rumple we are a dealer for them as well so if you need a rumble weak actually spoiler alert we give a free one to all of our clients okay custom build so yeah free Rumple blankets so if you if you order an outpost van free van with Rumple purchase or something no no no not free yeah everybody let's go buy a couple hundred dollars worth of Rumble and get a little better way around well I didn't say the price of the rumble oh there you go oh there you go I know you're about to get to this this thing is one of my favorite uh I guess I get it's a luxury item it is it's a I would say it's nice yeah it's one of those like I like to have it but it's not also needed yeah in Southern California it can get pretty hot I mean we've got the desert we've got the mountains but it still gets pretty warm okay you know what in the southwest that was about to say it's one of those things that I it's one of those like I'm in the I'm in San Diego I'm in San Diego right now I don't think about it we didn't talk about your heater you do have a heater in here but you don't really need it but yeah I mean you do have one it's nice to have you're probably only going to really use it like a couple months out of the year or if you're going somewhere where it's going to be colder right so what is your heater that was my point uh we have the S Bar D2L in this one with the High Altitude kit nice so uh like you were saying this this family's going out to Mammoth get a little chillier up there so they might they might be running it a little bit they'll probably run it up there yeah and then in the summer months you run what's that this is the cruise and comfort their ice box model which is super nice we got the digital thermostat having the AC the 12 volt AC was one of the clients non-negotiables they're like we gotta have an AC we gotta have the pop top uh and they didn't want the roof well that was one of the things so we have to work backwards from that Vision sometimes and um yeah this was going to be the best solution for them because they also wanted some gearboxes up top for additional storage which meant the roof mounted one which we could have done in the rear but right then you can't have the boxes because it's too wide since this is nice one this is like putting together a jigsaw puzzle pretty much yeah and that's what we're trying to get at when I do these kind of videos that it's like it's not just like that simple there's a lot of moving Parts into this so we can't see a lot of builds now so we have a solution for you know um for I would say almost everything almost yeah we've either done it before or we have a connection or a dealer for someone that has that and now I just realized why the mom and dad will sleep here because you have nice cooling air conditioning and let the kids roast upstairs yep pretty much no they get good cross ventilation up there yeah it's fun for kids I mean I always wanted to be on the roof or in the tent absolutely that's super fun obviously you got the fan right overhead so when it's not like super super hot you can run that fan and then we have the flares back here so this is actually a really big like it's 76 by 58 wow so just under a queen uh we've got the sliders in both sides so yeah turn that fan on open those windows and you'll have a lot of airflow we didn't really talk about these these are just nice push button latches that kind of open yeah so in here we've got some stuff oh it's all the client's client stuff they got some snow peak stuff in here mule stuff Bloom hinges Bloom hinges it's a one of those industry nice things to have and we're about to go to the back um but you have the same company here I believe uh from the front and the side excuse me and the back what well you're just talking on this one I'm going with the bug wall right so yeah the slider and at the rear door we've got the uh both the bug Nets because obviously nice to keep the van open when you're coming in and out it's the magnetic entry so no zippers to mess with when you do have it deployed down expensive outside yeah this is probably one of the few lifted 4x4s or whatever uh with an agile kit which we're going to get to without Black Rhinos what are they doing uh so these are the methods and the tokens the other one yeah so uh yeah a little different a lot of people do and we do it a lot too yeah The BFG k02 and the Black Rhinos I mean you really can't go wrong with each but the method and the Toyo uh just something really clean about it before I go further I do want to kind of reiterate that wheel choice is actually important in a in a sprinter van because it weight 100 and I did not realize that when I when I was doing all this yeah so you want to get a properly rated you know not only the wheel but the tire as well load rating is important for both those and yeah these are all uh proper load capacity for the weight of the vehicle and same with the suspension I was about to say so the suspension isn't agile that's you know these guys are in your backyard yep so yeah agile off-road kit their rip kit is the ride Improvement package uh so you have the fox shock you have the Bilstein strut you get the coil over we have the seal saver on it right now some people run it without this and you see the spring which also looks pretty cool yeah I was wondering what that was just like a local cover yeah it's a seal saver it's made out of the same material as a wetsuit oh wow or you can just see this you could see the spring yeah but I don't want to pull it all the way out yeah yeah yeah yeah you know spray all those yeah we did yeah uh we don't do this here we actually sub this out but this is Linex uh we leave it expensive stuff it is yeah it's really nice super rugged everybody's probably seen the black molding panels on the Sprinter that are now gray and blotchy and super ugly so the Linux is a way to preserve that and then also make it bulletproof see a tune bumper tune bumper worn winch uh Baja Designs LP sixes with the rock guards these are the ambers I mean that setup alone is not cheap yeah so the Linex plus the bumper plus the winch plus the lights yeah it adds up it's yeah it adds up quick I'm gonna guess I like guessing is that an aluminous desk it is okay yes yeah I like aluminum Diego Road Show I I I actually I realized that I should have just picked a San Diego company and I'll probably get it right I've I've been in their shop and I've met the owners I know the owners I love them they're phenomenal people so how does that table operate yeah this is this is the happy hour table we call it okay you've got the hinges here you see all that and then this latch but these are on what's called friction hinge so they're really sturdy so oh wow yeah and that's all that does is just kind of slide out and then hit that is there a reason why there's kind of an opening right here uh it's just a reform Factor because this is on the bracing here that makes sense okay got it that's cool your happy hour table Yeah that's what we call it's a happy hour right yeah happy hour yeah just hanging out just yeah pretty much drinking seltzers yep whatever your flavor so now let's move to the back yeah so you got it looks like well obviously it says right on the side I don't have to guess that one but owl yeah uh owl Vans we've got the B2 uh that's the carrier the large box so we can store lots of good stuff in here stuff you don't really want to bring in it's actually locked I can't even get it oh no the other thing's locked gotcha yes this is the um holder for the max tracks so we threw bolt this into the box and uh it's a great place to store the max tracks so they sell that too the out the owl van sells a Max track holder uh this is actually from luminous Oh weird um yeah so we're kind of mixing genres here but you know uh you all you've got to find the parts and uh stuff to make all the gear work together sometimes so is that a poop shovel uh it could be yeah this is your doing business shovel uh this is from agency six I like that yeah yeah so this goes on to the Expedition handle from owl on the tire carrier uh and Ladder tire carrier in the setup so this is the the only ladder going up I presume it is yeah so no really need for a side ladder with a pop top normally we'll do it just in front of that rear axle on the wheel on the driver's side but in this setup we have two Pelican boxes up top dude I love those and a uh we boost right up there so you climb right up you can deploy the Wii boost and then you get access to uh both Pelican boxes is that sitting on a flatline vanco rack yeah this might be the only uh Flatline rack for a pop top I actually modified one okay uh yeah so I don't know that I've ever seen anybody else use the Flatline rack with a pop top maybe the first ones but I don't know someone can fact check me well do you mind opening up the I guess the trunk space the the garage storage yeah for sure nice little view from the back there yeah we wanted to leave it open um you know that that way okay you got one yeah yeah these guys were awesome yeah uh so far shout out to them yeah uh so this is a super cool Grill since we're talking about it it's a four in one it's a campfire pit it's a pizza oven and it has the wok and then a regular did you buy that at the show because those guys were across the street away from you yeah I'm actually doing a Baja trip soon so I bought one and picked it up because I'll be down there for like a week so this isn't the clients this is yours no I took it home from the show yeah yeah no no we haven't no uh that's funny yeah these are super cool if you want to peek at it I do now because it's yours yeah so um I kind of want one yeah I don't kind of want one I want one dude yeah it's I'm gonna have to reach out to I think it was Mark yeah uh Mark's a great guy well honest to God and I have video of it um and I'll overlay it in this video but that the yesterday morning he made us all like uh egg sandwiches that's this thing at the shows this he'll cook everybody breakfast makes pizzas gives it out for free and doesn't even put out a tip jar he's a generous guy he's a very generous guy but man that was one of the best I don't even know what it was good like bratwurst egg sandwich yeah it was bacon chorizo bratwurst something it was one of the most best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had so yeah this is a major shout out today I know you're doing a lot of shout outs in this one I'm gonna get made fun of for all those shout outs but no it's fine uh but yeah this was fire or somebody but Fire trail fire yeah super cool Grill but back to the garage yeah so we've got all our utilities separate separate we call these the utility cabinets we've got all the power on this side uh so you got your light switch right there and then all the plumbing on this side so it's a 24 gallon fresh tank plus the four gallons in the hot water heater uh you can really have 28 fresh gallons and you have it looks like an outdoor washing station yep outdoor shower and of course this is all heated uh all of the lines The Fill it's all stored in these bags here it's a waterproof bag so you can hook it up to your outdoor shower wash off your gear all that good stuff uh I mean Jeremy I can't thank you enough for kind of showing me Outpost fans I was luckily enough in San Diego and was able to come by the shop and thanks for showing me around and you guys are doing some great work and I was able to finally meet you at the show and yeah yeah it was awesome it was really good times I definitely can't complain so if you want more information Let's uh give me that shout out one more time of what Outpost fans is and how we can find you yeah so Outpost fans were here in San Diego we do custom van builds primarily on this Sprinter but we also do transits and promasters outpostvans.com and then at Outpost fans on Instagram give us a follow awesome dude well thank you so much and we will uh thank you do another build so I can tour another one would you yeah yeah we've got a few in the hopper so okay cool let me come back anytime all right thanks yeah thank you Wonderful Life [Applause]
