if you've recorded a stereo file and only need to use sound from one side of that file or if you've recorded some narration and you can only hear that narration on one side of your headphones here's how you can solve that problem here's an example of what I'm talking about here I have a stereo file when that file is played as a way for me to get exercise and also just in it we're only hearing this in the left speaker there's a number of ways to solve this problem but the easiest way to deal with this and the cleanest for a timeline just delete this track that we're working with go back to your file in your clip list open that clip list up a little bit and you're going to see that this file is labeled stereo stereo can mean left or right it also can mean having two channels channel one or Channel two when I click on this triangle right next to the audio file you'll see that it shows me the name of the audio file left and the name of the audio file right we only have sound on the left hand side of this file so if I click and drag that part of the file into the timeline I will only get that channel so now when I listen to it you know look at dance as a way for me to get exercise the audio is playing in the center as we would have wanted it to originally and that's it
