Power steering leak

hey here's Frank here today we're going to work on this for Newhall on thirty nine thirty and I've had this thing for probably ten years now and it's a dandy little tractor front will assist it's only 45 horsepower for what I do used to do making hay pulling the hay baler and I habe ein and so forth it's really done the trick but it's developed a problem here with a power steering pump that leaks like a sieve I have to click power steering fluid in it every time I use it I've done a few things over the last few months and I'm convinced and it's probably meeting a seal kit this is a complete seal kit all the overhangs and seagulls and so forth if I need them I even have a new filter from the inside and that's what we want to do today so let's get this thing apart and we'll see what we need to do to get this week fixed up here okay so this is the power steering pump and they are prone to leaking around this seal right here so we may try to replace that seal first that'll be real simple maybe put a new filter on it you can replace this seal and see if that does the trick yeah it is it is wet up the round there so that maybe would be where it's coming from we'll try that first I'm not sure if we have taken you off filter off to get this stuff apart we're gonna find out all right let's see if we can get you in here so you can see what's going on all right that might work alright first of all we've got a fitting back here that wasn't briefed that was not very tight let's get this cap off here oh there's some oil in there this is clean as we can all righty loosen up this it's French yep this well here I believe will allow me to take this whole housing offer here let's get this washer off here all right let's get it rubber of Noah be right back okay back again and I'm from right about this should be able to give this a few good whacks and you should be able to get it off [Music] yeah let's loosen this one up here [Music] [Applause] okay so this is interesting no see this is the seal that I suspect or a hearing and of course I forgot to bring my pic with me so I can't get it off after run back in the shop so I max will get this over in off of here I've seen better maybe that's a hoax okay let's find it over there well see two o-rings in here I'm not saying that this is probably these are probably ones let's give it a try yeah that's the one okay here's the new filter and I don't see where anything goes behind so what else do we have here now there's no evidence of anything that's behind this old filter let's take a quick look at the case here you know what I'm going to take that right in the shop we'll put her in the parts washer okay it's about as clean as I can get it seems pretty clean in there it's got some paint very here on the seal surface I'm ruff paint like runs or something all right now I've got the new filter on there that's the new bull ring will wet that down a little bit okay so we're not seeing any leaks in the short amount of time that we ran it here what I'm going to do next is my tools away but I'm gonna take I'm gonna take the screen pan I'm gonna drain this into my waste oil and wipe it off I'm good then I'll place it under the tractor and we'll see if we have any leaks over time so that's where we're going to end this one thanks for watching thanks for subscribing and we'll see you next time this is Mike [Music] you
