um things did not go like i planned it hey everybody welcome into this video my name is tamra and this is my channel the paper and pin girl in this video we're gonna do three things number one i'm going to be sharing with you how i think the first quarter of 2021 has gone in my 2021 powersheets the second thing we're going to do is i'm going to share with you what some of my goals are for the second quarter of 2021 the third thing that i'm gonna do is share with you something that i think is pretty exciting that i'll be challenging myself to do as a part of my goal activities for the second quarter i'm gonna share that with you and i'm going to issue a challenge because i'm hoping that you're going to do it with me so if you want to find out what that is then stay tuned welcome back into the video let me start out by just saying y'all the first quarter of 2020 won nothing went according to plan okay almost nothing went according to plan for the first quarter of the year so for those who are not aware i do use the cultivate what matters powersheet this is my baby this is it right here for me okay this is a goal-setting workbook and this is what i have chosen to use as my goal guide per se okay um we usually spend and get your goal on which is a goal accountability group that i host if you're looking for some goal accountability hit me up in the comment section and i'll go into more details now we spend about two months october well november december um setting up our uh prep work for the upcoming year also making sure that we're planning the goals that we're going to be focusing on for the first quarter and planning out that first month okay so yes we were good we did that um my main focus my primary focus goal for the first quarter was going to be relationship tending okay so i was going to be relationship tending my husband honey i had plans and because the relationship tending was going to be a very um how do i put it taxing and tedious emotionally um tedious experience i decided to follow um my tip that i took from a book that we were also reading and get your goal on which is the one thing um we i i said i'm just going to focus on that one thing it's going to be my primary goal so all of my focus my energy all of that stuff is going to be towards tending that relationship now i did have some secondary goals like some home projects that needed to be taken care of in addition to home projects i wanted to double what was in my savings account from last year i wanted to double that so i had to put some financial strategies in place in order to accomplish that goal as well but my primary number one focus that cannot slip was going to be that relationship tending y'all okay so fast forward to about the second week in january y'all my physical health like i had some health things that started to come to come i mean it it hit like it it hit the fan and so in february i ended up having to have a surgery done in february because it was either that i was probably about to be close to be dead okay and so so oh it was an experience but by god's grace his mercy his kindness y'all oh oh how he loves me um we were able to do that so i had um surgery the middle of february which also means that nothing could be done i had no strength i had no energy i had so many testings and needles and pokings and transfusions and all sorts of things that was done uh for february and then for march it was you know the second two weeks in february and then the rest of march was recovery and so nothing nothing there was no nothing it switched from relationship tending to health that's what it switched to and sometimes when you are working on your goals life throws those balls at you and you've got to learn how to catch catch it and we're gonna do the best we can with it so my focus switched um so while i was unable to do the physical activities i started doing the health activities i started doing more research on what was necessary for me i asked questions and i made plans for okay what's my recovery going to be like before my surgery um what was my time frame that i'm trying to work with and make the necessary adjustments as we go along and so that spurred me on to be in a mode now of being a better advocate for my own health now as women i think we sometimes a lot of times most of the times put our health on the back burner behind the back burner um and we take care of so many other things and so many other people that we are not very good advocate for our own health if you can relate to that let me know and so um this first quarter has really been good for me because i was able to you know get this procedure done it was done safely uh done while i'm still young enough to handle it um as well i was able to learn how to become a better advocate for myself and so now i have other doctors appointments and visits so that i can advocate better for myself and i'm learning more and so yay i was able to check off like two things on my list of goals for 2021 in the first quarter so it just so happened that the procedure that i had done was something that i was planning to do second to third quarter of this year anyway it's just that it got fast-tracked it got fast-tracked and there were there was there's no other option you got to do it now um and so i i still got to check it off my list y'all i still got to check it off my list so going into the second quarter of the year now and going into the spring refresh which i have already done in our powersheet success your refresh is here so i have energy yeah i got energy um and some of you who have you know ever lived where you you have no energy you have no strength your body is like exhausted all the time you're living a life of depleted energy you can understand why like i'm like this now i'm i'm on 2 000 forget 1000 i'm like on 2000 because i could walk to my mailbox and come back and i don't need to take a nap to recover i can breathe y'all i i mean look look we're not going to get emotional but i could because it's that good um and so that has really helped me um and so i'm excited to go into the second quarter of the year so in this refresh i've decided to um continue with the one thing because it has worked so well in the first quarter where i was focused on some on relationship tending but that changed i had to change it we had pivot so i changed it to health and i just focused primarily on the health and that was a win and i we got so i got stuff done um so now for the second quarter i'm going to now focus on and focus on what i was supposed to do for the first quarter which is the relationship tending um not only are we doing the relationship tending i'm going to be picking a second tip okay because we're reading books every quarter in our um get your goal on and we're picking something from that book to apply to our lives so we're reading and we're applying every single quarter so in addition to focusing on my one thing which for me is going to be the relationship tending i'm going back to that we're also now going to be picking something from a second book that we're reading which is atomic habits and so in atomic habits one of the things that the book says is to create an environment that is going to set you up for success not just cleaning and decluttering but it's what are the things that you have in that area because the things you have in the area can trigger you to do some things that you should not be doing not only that it's what area are you in the area that you're in makes a difference as well if you're in the kitchen yes i'm gonna get a snack if you pass the kitchen you may not be hungry but you need to open the fridge just to see what's in it because that's what you do when you're in the kitchen and so i now have to look around my home and i have to make sure that the places where i am is setting me up for success in that particular area slash goal that i'm looking for so when i sit down at my desk that is going to be dedicated for filming and doing my social media i should not have anything else there everything should be business social media filming you get it done you get out of that area stop lingering around and scrolling on the interwebs on your phone because you're in in in the social media sections of of the house okay we need to know you're out of that block of time because that's something i also do in my planner right but i'm going to be taking that type of thing and applying it to the different areas of my home that i do different things in to make sure that that area that i'm in and the things that are in that area is helping me to be set up for success okay success at accomplishing the task that i'm in that area to accomplish if that makes sense i hope that makes sense so what are some of these um goals that i'm going to be working on for the second quarter and then i'll come back and do a quarterly refresh for the third quarter and then we'll go over these i'll tell you how they kind of went so the first thing that i want to do of course is the relationship tending for myself and my husband we need to cultivate a relationship where we focus on us where um i'm i'm edifying my husband i'm building my husband up man i mean this is the time of life that we're going to enjoy right and i want to enjoy my man i want to enjoy my marriage i want to enjoy my husband right so a part of doing that for me is going to be be edifying my husband just letting the man know that he's the man he mama right and depositing into him um just just confidence depositing into depositing into him love depositing into him just gratitude all of that stuff is how can i do those things for him because i love him and i appreciate them right um and so those are things that i'm going to do for my husband for the children also let them know that yeah we appreciate y'all too uh-huh because you know y'all got to take care of us when we older so we need you to be kind we need you to be kind so children um also my uh church family and just some people i haven't seen in a long time people we haven't spoken to in a long time that people that's important to us and i'm gonna share more about that um later because that's a part of that is going to be the third thing okay so the next one is uh some financial goals i have to make sure we look at some financial things for the month get the savings back on track also we have two trips so in may hubby and i are going on a trip and then in uh whenever go wild is if go on is going wild go wild is happening as well so we have those two and then we have a child who's graduating um also in may no in june and and a couple nieces and a couple nephews they're all boys oh dang yeah a couple nephews that's graduating as well so we have some trips that we need to plan and make sure we get those things in place for the quarter also health is um a secondary goal right now is mainly maintenance and be an advocate for myself i'm getting some exercise in because y'all i have not had the strength or energy in years to even go for a proper walk so now i get to walk i get to jump rope i get to do my stretches and all that stuff that comes later in the quarter right now it's mainly yes my doctor says i can scrub some some pots you can scrub some pots you can get back to vacuuming you can get back to doing that a friend of mine um suggested stretches so i'm going to do some stretches and some other little exercises to get myself started um as well so that's going to be march is going april is going to be getting started um on that also there's some things i want to do in the home it is spring time and so with it being spring time there's some things you want to do on the the inside there's some things you want to do on the outside of the home so i've got some home projects um that needs to be done that wasn't done earlier because we just couldn't do it we was too focused on the health issue okay so have those things to do as well i am not overwhelming myself for this quarter because i still have to remember that i got to take it easy like you have to take it easy and as women we have a hard time understanding ma'am ma'am ma'am there are limits go sit down go sit down you need to make a limit go sit down and so sometimes we have a hard time just sitting down so i have to make sure that i'm not overwhelming myself and i am just stop there's some limit so each month i'm going to pick you know some of the things that we're going to be focusing on for that month based on this beautiful list that i have inside of my powersheet i've already planned out the month of april in here let me go over to my my attending list so i've already planned out the month and let me just tell y'all i love this new brainstorm year month um page that um powersheets have come out with y'all it gives you space to be able to put down all the stuff that you're like okay i'm wanting to do all of these things this month i'm wanting to do all of these things on a weekly basis i'm wanting to do all these things on a daily basis and then you're looking at the list like nah we don't have time for all of that and so i put all of the i wish i could i really wish i could and then i go over to the tending list and i put okay these are the primary ones that i would really really like to get done and if after i've done these i still have time left in the month i still have energy left i'll bring over something else to it and so that's what i've done with my tending list so now we're gonna go into number three the third thing that i wanted to share with you all um as a part of the relationship tending that goal that i wrote in my powersheets i mentioned to you all that i wanted to contact some folks that i have not spoken to for a while for a long time like i mean sometimes it'll be years y'all and i wanted to contact them in a meaningful way to let them know that i'm thinking about them to let them know that i care about them that that that i'm here for them as well so you will see coming up for me in another video there's gonna be a plan with me and let me take the sticky off so there's gonna be a plan with me this is my erin condren daily duo okay and i'm gonna be setting this up for the month of april and i'm going to be putting also planning out that that that relationship tending um item action item inside of here and what i'm going to be using in addition to that planner is these um erin condren stationary these cards that i did receive okay these are the new hello kitty cards and i'm going to take them out and if you look on that it says you are amazing and i thought that that was so dang cute this entire month i'm sending out this whole pack which has 20 and if after i send this out i have more time i'm going to be sending out even more but right now this is the goal on this card i'm going to be putting a scripture a note um maybe even a prayer that i'm praying for that person i'm going to send this out to that person and just let them know i'm here i'm thinking about you i love you i'm praying for you um and i thought that that instead of just making a phone call instead of just texting or emailing or whatever that this would be such a great idea so april is a national card and letter writing month um and so y'all this is so perfect and so timely for this type of relationship tending effort um what i would like you to do is if you purchased these from erin condren if you have them you don't even have to have those any cards that you have i'm going to challenge you to join me in sending out cards to folks this month if you do have these um or any of the erin condren stationery that you can use to mail out cards there's going to be a hashtag that you can use which is hashtag ec write a letter okay and so follow that hashtag y'all so that we can see what's happening for the month of april i'm gonna tell you all the story as to why i'm excited to do it and this is a little emotional so we're gonna try our best not to cry about it okay um i have a grandmother that i literally cannot remember the last time that i've spoken to heard about or seen i don't even think she knows what any of my children look like i don't think she knows i don't think she knows what most of my siblings children look like at all at all um and that hurts that hurts for me okay the eyes are getting big because we don't want to cry on here right it hurts for me um and it's not because uh of of a kind of a lack of trying when i was younger um i used to go and visit her where she lives which was far from where where i lived right when i was in high school i used to take that trip she was like the last stop on the train okay this is how far that was and i used to go visit her and she would be at work most of the time i was visiting so i would just see her in passing and we would have this conversations short conversation okay i would make that phone call to call her but not her call me um and so after a while of doing that with several family members y'all i got tired i got worn out and i really got to the point where i'm like you know what if you don't like me if you don't love me why am i trying to force myself on you oh we and so i i i was hurt i was hurt i'm i'm still kind of hurt truth be told right and so um i did not realize that i had not dealt with that until when i was going through the process of of of prepping my goals for this month and i said lord what should i focus on and i received these in the mail and um i picked them up and i said oh i can send out cards to folks and the lord said you need to send one to your grandmother and i promise you that was hard that was hard it was hard because everything kind of kept on coming back like like oh but she don't like me she don't love me she don't care about me if she did she she hasn't even she right and so and so that was very difficult for me and i'm sure that a lot of you also have family members who um i shouldn't say who who've done things or not done things to cause you to feel like that and sometimes that feeling is a lie um and what i mean by that feeling is a lie is maybe they were just busy maybe they were just focused on other things it's not that they don't love you it's just that they were in a different place like we don't know what was happening with her i was still a child so i don't know what was happening with her i thought i was growing but i wasn't but now being older i can see that i don't keep in touch with everybody like the way i should or want to keep in touch with everybody especially family members and so you know the lord had to bring that back to me so so my heart is softened um i've i'm i'm on the road to forgiving all of that because i mean i don't think she knew i don't you know i don't um and so it's not that's my grandma it's not so i'm gonna um grandma's gonna get one okay and she's gonna get a phone call too and she's gonna get a phone call as well um so this quarter i want to mend some broken fences and if this challenge can also help you to mend some broken fences i'm all for it let's do it let's do it let us mend some broken fences even if they're not quite broken but you know like they're dilapidated
