[Playing as Yoshi] Super Mario 64 DS!!

today we play Super Mario 64 DS where Mario and his friends go to the castle but then they mysteriously don't return and it's up to Yoshi to solve the mystery and save everybody it's kind of funny that when I think about this game I think that this game came out much later than Super Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64 but there actually aren't that many years in between the original and this version of the game oh wait and listen to this voice please come to the castle I've baked a cake for you yours truly princess toad store Peach that voice just sounds so strange it sounds like that's the wrong voice I'm so used to hearing the Nintendo 64 version of the voice that that one just sounds so different I don't even really have any memory of that that's so funny but the beginning is very similar to the original Super Mario 64 but some of you may have noticed that Yoshi was actually up there sleeping on the roof we can see that we've got water in the moat by the castle there there were some black blocks down there oh and this hedge maze is a little bit different and wait a minute oh I actually remember what happens here in the beginning because who do you play as in this game it's not who comes out here cuz look who comes out Mario comes out there is Mario in his Super Mario 64 DS model which is a pretty funny one to see but look two more pipes come up and who are these two out comes Luigi and Wario I remember thinking this was so cool because yeah these are all going to be unlockable characters that we will be able to play us so let's see what these guys do okay they're running around oh look at Luigi over there jumping on Wario Wario's trying to punch him Mario IGI run into each other they're a little dizzy now let's go to the castle Yahoo let's go oh okay Mario let's go to the castle meanwhile Yoshi's sleeping up here he's just blowing bubbles on top of the castle and you can actually see Yoshi and Super Mario 64 after getting all the stars Yoshi Yoshi what are you saying listen what are you going to say Mario hasn't returned yet oh no what does that mean oh wow latu is flying by pretty quickly where are we going to want to go we can't just go straight to the castle can we I actually don't think that we'll be able to do that okay nice we can do long jumps like this but look there's a lock on the door there isn't normally a lock there is it you need a key to open this door okay so let's see whoo oh and here comes lacka too uh-oh looks like the doors are locked huh huh I just saw a rabbit taken off with a key in his mouth why don't you go look for him on the touchscreen map Yoshi and as you guys could see there's a little map over there and we can see a flashing key back by where the hedges were so let's go to that I think that'll be a good place to go to so let's make our way over there let's see where is it where is it oh and wait can I uh I see the rabbit I see the rabbit come here how do I grab you how do I grab you rabbit look at the rabbit why is it moving like this I swallowed it ah no don't eat me all I did was tease you a little come on let me go okay we let him go that is a big rabbit doesn't that rabbit look massive ah I thought it was the end of little old me my entire life flashed before my eyes talk about scary anyway here take the the key it's just slowing me down hooray we got a key you've retrieved the key to the castle from the rabbit now you're ready to go into the castle Mario and his buddies went to the castle ages ago and they still haven't returned save now yes oh and I remember that save jingle that plays I forgot about that actually oh and I guess I wait can I eat him give me a break I already gave you back the key that's so funny okay we will give you a break we'll just leave you alone that's fine Mr rabbit you have done plenty for us okay let's make our way in here now into the castle we go cuz now we have the key whoa it just like flew out of my hand into the door okay but let's go into the castle now his bows are here let's see welcome no one's home now scram and don't come back it is so cool to be playing as Yoshi look at this okay let's go up to the first level here and let's see what's going to be through this door it is the painting to bom Battlefield oh I didn't mean to ground pound there actually Big B bomb on the summit how are we going to defeat King B bomb if we won't be able to go behind him and grab look at how funny these Goombas look jump bro okay at least I swallowed a gooa oh that's right that's right you can make eggs like this I can swell these guys and get eggs okay that's probably a easy way to get lots of coins okay wait can I still use this as a teleporting spot yes okay so those flowers can teleport you like that which is pretty nice oh that's a slippery slope there got to be careful and hold on I wonder if we could run up here cuz normally Mario is fast enough to be able to make it up this slope but is Yoshi fast enough let's see do we have the speed to make it up here and okay it looks like oh boy I thought that I would slide down after doing that okay now let's see let's see the camera in this game isn't as good as the original I think or at least I'm not as used to it okay but we can use that to teleport which is very nice can we do side flips or no yes we can and look at that we made it up to the top to King B hello King B I'm the big b b Baron of all blasting matter king of Kabooms the world over incredible you've made made it this far even without a mustache I commend your courage be that as it may I can't just give you my precious power stop you must defeat me in battle if you want it you'll be quite helpless facing my B bomb minions now put your tongue back in your mouth it's quite undignified let's battle that's such a funny line put your tongue back in your mouth okay but how am I going to get you wait you spit out or uh you shoot out B boms don't you cuz how else am I going to defeat you cuz look at this normally there we go what a cool hit we got out of oh my goodness we swalled a and spit it out back at him cuz otherwise who what the waa what in the world is going on did I take damage or no I don't know if I took damage but hopefully we're still okay cuz it's like I tried to grab the guy but he ran away basically whoo let's get this guy uh-oh okay wait is he defeated oh that hurts how did I lose to a bald-faced fellow like you let's keep this just between you and me I'll give you my precious Power Star in exchange if you want to see me again just select this star from the menu oh my goodness and he just explodes and we get to have this star okay well that's great let's collect that St we got the first Power Star of the game it's so much fun to play as Yoshi and out we come out of the painting what a cool idea going into paintings like this and of course we are going to do save and continue and that's so cool you can see a map of the castle you've recovered one of the stolen power stars now you can open some of the sealed doors in the castle try the princess's room on the second floor and the room with W's fortress on the first floor but there are still no signs of Mario hurry and find him Yoshi yeah that's right we want to save Mario and the others foot race with Koopa the quick I might be good at this one I'm assuming that we'll be able to be really good at this one oh I wait can I even break this block by ground pounding on it no I can't even break it by ground pounding on it okay let's go howy you know where Mario is I've been looking but he's nowhere to be found you don't look like you're busy if you don't mind would you bring Mario here thanks oh no he doesn't even want to race with me he only wants to race Mario I think he's a little suspicious that he's the one that did something to Mario and he doesn't want us to find out I think this is really the guy that kidnapped Mario just look at how suspicious he looks and guys don't these Graphics look kind of like Minecraft this actually reminds me a lot of Minecraft all right so how about we run over here and we go to wamps Fortress this might be a good one to go to because maybe we'll be able to get a star or two over here and we're playing as Yoshi reacting to the star power the door slowly opens it'd be funny if there was a glitch and the door just opened really really quickly chip off wamps block oh here we are wamps Fortress what a fun level wait a minute this seems like it is uh bigger than normal does this level seem bigger than normal it seems like it goes up really high oh we climb up the trees very quickly that's kind of funny get me up here wow the graphics here actually look so cool oh wait but I think when you're playing as Yoshi you actually can't do a wall jump so we can't jump off of that yeah Yoshi can't do wall jumps oh you're attacking quickly oh my goodness yeah this is a 60fps mod and because of that wait wait it's Mario's cap if I put this on will I transform into Mario I think I m is that what this does let's see we're Mario while searching for the power Stars you found a red cap put it on and voila you suddenly look just like Mario while playing as Mario in standard mode you can punch grab and throw objects you can also perform the famous wall kick just press a to jump against the wall and press a to jump up again Princess Peach is counting on you don't give up okay this is actually fantastic let's go like this oh and I still sound like Yoshi uh-oh okay we're taking some damage that's okay we can just heal up here which is also fine it's so funny to be playing as Mario but we're making Yoshi sounds it's almost like we're playing a mod or something okay and this movement is something that I am so not used to wa hold on can I uh can I do a wall jump off of this oh I don't think that we could reach high enough I rolled out to here oh my goodness the movement in this is so different from the original Super Mario 64 oh my goodness you know what I think the speedrunner simply who is one of the best Super Mario 64 speedrunners he had a video of playing through this game for the first time ever I think he has a video like that wait can I teleport here there we go okay there is a Teleport spot there very nice so now we teleported up this but yeah I think that that would be super cool to see I'm going to have to watch that video cuz I believe that I did see the thumbnail for that but I don't think that I watched that yet so I think watching a video like that would be fun it'd be so cool to see what this game is like for someone who is very very very very familiar with the uh Nintendo 64 version wa this guy has a crown now it makes me so mad we build your houses your castles we pave your roads and still you walk all over us do you ever say thank you no well you're not going to wipe your feet on me I think I'll cross you just for fun do you have a problem with that just try to pound me with h wait can we ground pound through him oh it doesn't look like you could ground pound through them in this version of the game hey let me out let me out let me out cuz I think in the original Super Mario 64 You' actually a ground pound through him if you do a ground pound as he's falling on you then you can uh just continue with your ground pound but in this version of the game it doesn't look like you can do that but there we go that's three grand wait oh I thought is he defeated or no no crushed again I'm just a stopping Stone after all I won't gravel uh gravel here you Inn take this with you that's such a funny pun I won't gravel gravel okay let's get that oh boy I jumped right past the star and there we go now we've got this star that's the first one we got as Mario but we're not really Mario we're actually just Yoshi cuz as we come out we're not Mario anymore we didn't actually rescue Mario yet let's head back inside maybe there will be another nice start that we can get to the top of the Fortress this might be a bit difficult especially if we are not Mario so maybe we'll be able to transform into Mario can I go in uh let's see if we can just make our way up here and turn into Mario that'd be lovely if we could do that Yoshi's dead that guy just killed us okay let's just go and get this hat right here give me that hat there we go excellent job getting the Hat wait I wonder if Canon list Works in this game or not well you know what we can make maybe do W boy go no I didn't make it a so sad so sad but you know we probably can get also oh there's a Goomba right here were you here before uh-oh there we go okay I was going to do something else wait that's weird that that ground is there that ground isn't normally supposed to be there is it okay hold on can I do the wall jump up here uhoh uh-oh I slide down the wall so quickly this is so strange okay let's just punch this guy get out of oh no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no the Mario head is gone that is so sad so sad was planning on uh using that Mario hat to get to somewhere that I wanted to go okay well let's ground pound on this and I think the coins will appear here is that right yes look at that 27 coins already I think I might as well go for the 100 Coin Star cuz that is so many coins that we have collected look at this I think we should go for a 100 Coin Star what do you guys think I think that'd be a lovely star to go for and maybe I'll go for eight red coins also wait is there not a red coin up there or wait maybe I already got that one oh boy but these coins are so much fun to collect oh guys I'm I'm starting to get some memories of my first time ever playing this game as a kid I remember walking around here looking for coins what a fun game what a lovely game wait can I uh think I might have to be Mario to defeat these guys I don't think I can just quietly ground pound on them without them noticing me can I do that I don't think so okay so let's wait I already have 42 coins I'm already almost halfway there that's so many okay wait I'm guessing that the Mario cap is going to be back here no it's not where's the Mario cap hold on should I check the map and see where it is let's see the Mario cap is somewhere else now oh my goodness I can't believe it the Mario cap actually moved wow I was not expecting that okay well I guess I'll go for this red coin here there we are and can I jump to the center here I got sniped I've been sniped I have been sniped oh no that piranha plant just got me I don't know if I can even jump across to there and what is that whole area down there cuz in the original Super Mario 64 that wasn't even part of the level how did that get there okay so let's see we want to come up here okay the way that the camera works is so strange I wonder is there a button to actually turn the camera slightly left and right I don't know because the the Nintendo DS the original one didn't really have the equivalent of a c stick so let's see if we go over here we can hit L to make no no no I actually didn't mean to come here you know what I might just oh there he is there he is yes yes we got the Hat we got the Hat okay wait can I can they still jump on these guys Oh no I got squished not good not good not good not good not good let me out let me out let me out can I do regular jumps on them to get coins yes let's go okay that's good wait was my HP bar empty for a second there that's what it looked like that was scary okay let's see okay you come down and okay there he's not giving any more coins yeah so you can do individual jumps on these guys to get some more coins because normally when you ground pound on him you get five coins but if you just do Reg reg jumps like this 3 4 okay we got four coins I think you could get another five total yeah there we go that was five okay so now let's do a grandon okay some of the coins went flying and flew off of the level so we're not getting those for sure hey what about this can I break this or do you need Wario to break this I hope I could break this yes okay but we didn't get any of the coins at all from that that is all right since we are playing a 60fps mod it's kind of funny that some of this stuff is sped up a little bit let's get on there we go there we go now let's get these oh I didn't get them okay uhoh uhoh now I don't want to fall off let's just go like this punch there we go give me the blue coin give me the blue yes there we go we got the blue okay now hold on I'd like to go like this let's see let's get ready and run run don't fall off excellent now just walk to the edge here but not the final Edge okay there we go we got some coins and stuff okay let's climb up let's look turn camera turn turn turn turn turn turn okay let's let's go here let's get ready okay cuz we want to defeat this guy too it'd be nice to defeat this guy we already have 72 that is so many so let's just go like this oh boy I thought that I would get hurt but we got to hurt him very nice okay 79 coins I just really hope that we don't die in game over that'd be very sad or well not necessarily game over but even just falling off would be sad because then we'd have to get all these coins all over again let's get this one wow these guys don't have faces now these guys used to have faces in Super Mario 64 in the original okay we almost have enough coins for the Coin Star we only need six more come here Goombas let's go get out of here get out of here okay now we can probably defeat this guy oh I was so scared that I would jump up oh no no no no no no no no no no okay yes yes we got the hat back okay excellent excellent very good now let's see I probably could have just ran around the poles let's see go oh no oh no oh no no no no no no no they get up so quickly on let's see can I do this I jumped over him I think that's why oh boy I'm so scared of how this is going wait will you open the cannon for me I never would have thought that you are such a fashion plate I see red caps just like that around here a lot lately okay so he says something about how they are CS wait do I get coins from running around this cuz it's kind of hard to run around yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes one more coin and there we go the 100 Coin Star absolutely amazing so glad that we got that you collected 100 coins you gain more power from the castle would you like to save yes there we go that's excellent okay but I still want to see oh we got three power Stars we can now go to some more levels but where's Mario does Yoshi have to save him too in any case the Adventure Continues yes the adventure does continue let's see if we can take out oh oh I want to dive into this guy there we go okay we can defeat him like that and get the blue coin okay that's excellent let's come on up here okay not where I wanted to go wait I wonder if you could do uh these kicks like you can in Super Mario 64 not really let's see see cuz in Super Mario 64 if you hold the jump button and you keep kicking you can just keep going up the slope like this but over here in this version of the game it doesn't seem like you can do that and guys when the camera's really zoomed in on this didn't this look like a Minecraft block this looks so much like the texture of a Minecraft block okay now then do we want to get some more Red Coins I wonder if we could get all them okay you are going absolutely wild so we're going to run across here we're going to see if we can go like this okay stay there that's fine okay let's go like this excellent and let's see if there's anything here okay I think there might be a star down there cuz that's normally where there is a star and there are going to be some red coins up here oh I was hoping I'd be able to wall jump up to that but that's okay we can just get onto this one and now let's just make our way up to here do I have the platform that I'm allowed to kick yet or how am I going to make it across oh don't follow me Bullet Bill yes yes yes this is know what happened last time with these guys no no no you're kidding me guys I'm not even using Save St I should be using save states maybe because I have to do this all over again okay this time I just fell from up high when I was trying to get the two you know what up there when I was trying to get the two red coins over there so maybe I can now get one of these hold on I'm I'm just going to you know what I'm just going to crawl through here you guys aren't going to hurt me right right just let me calmly get this okay nice we got that now how in the world do we make it back to the level cuz this part used to not exist in this game oh that's kind of cool that's a pretty sweet addition to the level oh don't kill me okay now we just have to make it up to the very top and I don't think we need Mario because I already knocked over that one uh plank so we should be able to just go like this slide down here and just teleport me back there we go I feel like such a noob the way that I'm playing this using teleports like this and waiting for these elevators to get up when I know in Super Mario 64 and the Nintendo 64 version there's a much faster way to get up hey but let's see I already knocked this over right where's the thing to knock over where is it where is it oh there it is there it is okay now don't fall don't fall don't fall don't fall don't fall don't fall don't fall don't fall don't fall excellent oh boy okay now just be careful just adjust the camera that was just basically straight okay excellent seven one more one more to go it's just that one there and this should be easy go and there we are okay now we just need the star not time to celebrate yet okay let's just go to here so I think that should be fine yeah nice didn't even take damage now hold on we just got to come down here somewhere for the star right there oh no no you're actually kidding me how do Dives work in this game how how I'm dead again bro I'm getting comboed here taking fall damage and this guy gets me after that too I'm hit away from dying no no no no no no no this isn't kaiso Mario 64 I've had it enough of this this is actually insane this is one of the I'm at zero lives guys am I going to game over in a Super Mario 64 DS regular playthrough can you believe it am I going to be able to get all of these red coins or no nope nope no no no no no no no no no not getting comboed anymore let's see was that dive risky maybe but maybe it was just what we needed I didn't even get it can I just can I just have this coin and go please go okay okay okay that's fine can I come back this way or should I you know what this is the safer way to go back I'm just going to do things the safe way now I'm going to come down here do a long jump come over here you're not killing me I'm coming like this coming up here getting some coins just so I don't die and the final red coin that we need is going to be right here and if these guys push me off it doesn't even matter right right there we go that's number eight let's just come on back to there and now I'm finally getting the star there we go we finally got it I can't believe how difficult that was I died way too much there I almost gamed over or is it game overed I think that is a great place to end this episode check out part two and I really recommend you watch my video where we play Red Ball you will absolutely love
