all right working on brake lines originally the line went through and it was bent at a 90 and it was entered through the wing uh couldn't do it that way because the Wing's already on the airplane so ended up putting a 90 degree pass through I don't know if you remember but it comes out of the fuselage goes up over with the T and goes through a couple ribs so I'm gonna have to make this brake line it comes in a roll like this got the straightener right here so kind of do this spin it around a little bit perfectly straight brake line I'm gonna insert the grommets put the flares on with the flare tool and bend it accordingly times two left and right and we're going to bleed the brakes down would it even be something I did if I didn't go over top and uh polish these out just a little bit look at that sheen on there now you all right here's our 37 degree flare tool remember always put the fitting on first let's see if I can do this camera stick your diameter this so happens to be quarter inch close the mandrel down [Music] I ain't got to cinch it down but just kind of snug it I always put grease on the mandrel in there that flares the aluminum and this slowly work it until it gets snug no reason to force it take it off [Applause] and there is there you have it the brake lines run on both sides there's four limit switches on this um excuse me there's five so you have one on each gear and when they all click it gives you the green light and then obviously the squat switch on the back side here and then the fifth one is the up limit and basically you want to make sure these are snug up against the rubber stoppers just got those installed and then there's a torque retraction test just did that it's within limits um now we're going to gear doors so the way you do this is you got two rod end bearings and you shorten them are lengthen them to get the door adjusted and I'm not even kidding the service manual says to hang a nine pound plus or minus a pound of weight off the gear door and you want an eight inch deflection and that's how properly adjusted door so but the gear door is adjusted and I got the up limit switch adjusted we're going to double check the torque for the landing gear handle got a special tool right there with the torque wrench and we're aiming for 100 foot-pounds or less this is a 14 and a half inch uh fulcrum and you got a 12 inch fulcrum right here to do the math we're trying to aim for 185 foot-pounds with this size fulcrum so with all that math we're looking for a hundred or less on the torque wrench we're gonna wait for the click on the I figured I'd show you what happened shout out to Bogart Aviation for this cold weld the bracket just broke brand new tool 130 bucks waste of money I'll reset here all redneck Ingenuity put a hose clamp on it but I'm gonna see if I can get a refund on that because that's ridiculous um all right take two and see if you can see the gauge here waiting to hear the click for the up limit switch there it is what do we got 87.4 we're good time to put the wheels on so uh a gear swing on here is really hard adjusting everything the trunnion right here had to be shimmed for and aft um to get the slop out of there uh the scissor links had to get all the slop out of there when you notice when it comes down it's got about 16 to 3 30 seconds clearance here this bolt right here has to clear The Spar by 62 thousandths so you'd shim it four and aft replace these that's an ad they ended up failing the MPI inspection the rod end bearings uh here was bad and other than that the bushings weren't too too terrible here but anyways I'll show you swing [Applause] [Music] oh man wheels and brakes everything's bled down adjusted doing little things right now got the wing tip back on got this aileron back on the stripes lined up paint match looks pretty good what else I've been working on um that's ready for the cowling gonna get this ppf in the morning just a little wrapped around part right here then I can put the antichafe on put it back on Bolt the exhaust where the hangers are right there adjust the gear door see uh Interiors going back together foreign oh my goodness shout out to Zach for giving me this cover I was missing that got that glued in but uh interior is back in you shout out to Cranston for making a little placard for my uh router trim little details like that this kind of match the rest of the panel here's all the leftover parts that wasn't really sure where they went but I think we'll be all right just kidding all the old stuff didn't want to throw it away until I was completely done but uh that's just the main landing gear what in the nose got the uh cowling all ceramic coated which means we could put it on oh my goodness look at that looks like a Model A with no damn hood open all right the gear door is adjusted I'm going to show you the geometry on this it's crazy all right go for it crazy [Music] the wheel's sucked up let's see how those speed spats work right there aerodynamics phew all right do a gear swing it's gonna be the final one gear down boom oh man exhaust is hung the stripes line up the paint is beautiful ceramic came out beautiful and look at that we're off the Jacks but we're on the scales looking on the waiting balance um there's two different kinds of regulations there's car three and there's part 23. this is such an old airplane built in 59 that it's under car three standards the main difference is you don't put oil in the airplane and no fuel so it's got no fuel no oil the pallet seats are where they should be in Flight all the flight controls are centered the brakes are off what else are it's kind of weird um struts are aired up where they need to be nose gear tires aired down if you look at the little dots above the baggage door that is the alignment marks to make sure it's level so the airplane is leveled and longitudinally and laterally the hangar doors closed so we don't have a breeze we just had to calibrate the G5 came back from service and uh so that's all calibrated and here's our weights she's fat she's fat but I'll be able to calculate the new CG roll it outside and uh I guess the only thing I'd do is glue this chafe tape on and Crank It Up check for leaks sign the paperwork go fly oh my goodness just because I'm obsessing about the cowling rods and the exhaust cutouts mitt looks Factory gotta clean off all the uh fingerprints before I crank it up so it doesn't burn in on it another just because I can't get over it but uh I can't believe I'm gonna say it it's done I feel it adjust the nitrogen in the struts do one engine run just to make sure everything is leak free surreal cannot believe it paint match looks great airplane maintenance is complete without the log Bush got the prop engine airframe new weight and balance and the 337 for the STC on the exhaust all we're about to do oh my goodness well here goes nothing either one of those little one of those yeah hot oil on the problem clearland s checklist that's good Magneto fuel pressure oil pressure and meter doors and windows closed and Grand Prairie Tower uh Community five seven seven eight pops Ultra one eight at Alpha Ready for takeoff I'd like to orbit overhead at 2000 for an hour post maintenance flight Community 5778 Papa Grand Prairie Tower no delay Runway clear for takeoffs Middle a Runway one a clear takeoff 785 fancy 7A Pub you'll have to be under 2 000 left traffic okay 1900 and we'll make left left traffic 75. all right here goes nothing I hope you guys fell all right Gage is green RPM is perfect we're making full power airspeed's alive and rotate positive rate gears coming up flaps up your switch neutral still pop up ears up oh my goodness this thing's flying like a dream if you can see what I'm looking at here get a little close-up on the gauges people full bore here for a bit [Music] that fuel flow right there all right I'm gonna go ahead and sign off we're gonna fly for about an hour and land we're gonna check for leaks see on a bit all right so we got our chts up top our EGT is down low uh number five is the one we changed and uh we'll fluffy down here a little rain moving in uh we're about 35-40 minutes into the break-in doing some race tracks over the airport but uh anyways you can see number five out all of the hottest normally takes about four to five hours for a night treaded cylinder to break in so we're gonna keep everything you want a peak cylinder temps and pressures So Below 3000 AGL IP or excuse me uh MSL if able and uh Full Throttle full bore and I uh I personally vary the RPM so right now I started out at 25.50 went down to 2500 or 24.50 and then we'll roll it down to 24 23.50 and 2300 uh we should be done with that hour Land open up the calendar go far the only squawk I have uh the rigging seems fine checking the firewall temperature with the new insulation new exhaust it's pretty cool in here um only squawk my uh right mag something's wrong with the p lead it was hot uh the initial fire it fired right off what trying to I was trying to build the old temp but uh or excuse me oil pressure [Music] of everything we did over the past seven months that one squawk I can uh I'll take that so fingers crossed no leaks all right a little uh post maintenance flight debrief um the Comanche running great um couple squawks nothing major uh the right mag is a hot the P lead it's working I did a a continuity check so it is grounding and not grounding when you flip the switch um so I'm not really sure what that is uh going on with that I put 11 hours on it I took 185 gallons that hurt I thought I was going to save money once we got this all together but um took it up to the flight levels did great it's making a little bit more power it's about four five miles an hour faster actually pretty impressed the big issue I have well two other little small things the um oil leak is still there same spot it's I'm talking 10 12 hours it was three drops so it wasn't bad at all and uh the exhausts on the left side slightly shifted so we ended up having to move that let me just touch the cowling just barely no big deal it was just super simple fix but the main thing is uh the engine's running really hot uh 420 degrees and cruise which is fine um her light coming spec it's just it's kind of odd because before it was only about 380 385. so chasing that down gonna probably go through the timing make sure the timing is all correct and beyond that uh the baffling's really tight so I don't know if modifying the lower cowling maybe change the uh the way the air exits through the lower cowling maybe we have some kind of pressure building up to where I have enough Inlet air but I don't have enough exit air so I'm going to play with that but currently the planes in the shop for the autopilot super exciting have bought the servos about a year ago just haven't been able to line up with the avionics shop and and the maintenance with the plane so stay tuned it's gonna be lots of flying and uh flying season's coming up can't wait but we're going to track down that cooling issue and send it
