foreign [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] well good morning everybody welcome to another Vlog and thank you ever so much for joining me I'll try to make this as quick as possible because traffic is Fast and Furious on this highway here in the Redwoods California this is a location I came to last year with Sean Bagshaw and Albert dross the reason why we've come to this location over others as well first of all this is the only one that I know and secondly uh the fog is often really good here so I thought it would be a good start to show Paul and sure enough we have lots and lots of fog so uh without delay let's head on into the woods and see what we can find [Music] I I always loved the the quality of the light with fog uh in this area I remember remember last year the quality was just beautiful we have because we have this cool mist it has a slight blue tone to it but when you have the sun trying to come through it also has a warm tone to it so anything that has direct line on it is quite warm to the eye anyway uh rhododendrons uh I thought we'd be too late for them but obviously there's still some kicking around I've noticed that some of them are finished but some are just coming out these are quite fresh and it's weird because you'll you'll get some bushes that have quite a few on them and then others don't have any on them this is a lovely scene we have these two trees next to each other wrote it in there and kind of curling around the front of them there's a great Rhododendron in the background that's just full of really deep pink flowers uh the only issue with this photograph is that the highway is right right at the bottom there so I think with the camera as low as it is I'm able to hide the highway and obviously also wait for cars to go by it's not really busy right now because it's still quite early in the morning um the fog does look like it's slowly lifting and actually I can see sun on these trees back here so um I'm not sure how long this is going to last hopefully we'll get some beams of light coming through but if this fog keeps lifting then that's probably not going to happen [Music] [Music] [Music] wow look at this eh Paul's getting all excited kids oh it's beautiful stunning with light like this oh this is what it's all about this is what good photography is all about when you get moments like this and we thought it was finished eh yeah uh the fog was dissipating and we pretty much thought we were done but of course the fog has moved in again and there's blue sky above us but we get these Banks of fog moving in so beautiful [Music] oh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] light beams here now and then it'll dissipate you think oh it's over and then the fog comes back again [Music] just incredible so what I'm concentrating on right now there's a I did take some of the light beams but I really love the the depth created by the different contrasts and branches and trees there's a tree in the background that's kind of revealing itself out of the fog I really love that and in the foreground it's got darker branches from another tree so uh and there's a little bit of Blue Sky in there which I think will help as well I've pretty much plonked the tree right in the center uh because to my eye it just looks balanced that way just incredible [Music] [Music] [Music] huh well another Stellar morning in the Redwoods I wasn't looking promising this morning actually when we got up there was quite a bit of low-lying fog we thought oh great but where we camped is quite low in the valley as soon as we come up the hill it was quite sunny and and we could see blue sky so uh a little bit iffy whether we'd get fog or not as we're driving down the road we can see that there was fog out in the ocean uh but it hadn't quite come Inland I'm guessing that perhaps the land needs to heat up a little bit um I'm not sure I'm not sure how this all works it does feel a bit breezier today so perhaps that's keeping the fog out of these areas anyway long story short we did find a section that still has some fog and as you can see it's pretty self-explanatory what I'm trying to photograph here these beautiful light beams coming from these giant redwoods uh the only technical issue about photographing this this type of scene is that there's a high contrast so what I tend to do is expose for the highlights the brightest spot so when I get the raw file it'll be quite underexposed and then bring the Shadows up but absolutely spectacular so that's going to be the thing today as long as I can keep wandering around and trying to find beams of light in different compositions thank you foreign [Music] the uh the light is slowly fading Sun is setting I don't know how many times we've been out to this Grove of trees today the weather's been quite strange today it's been very sunny and hot so the the fog is very patchy luckily there's still a little bit of fog right by the edge of the edge of the ocean here the ocean is just beyond these trees here and of course it's just just beautiful I apologize for the hodgepodge of different locations and different images we've been back and forth back and forth trying to figure out where to go but we keep coming back to this Grove of trees here because of the conditions anyway I think I'm going to leave the uh video here thank you ever so much for watching I really appreciate it and uh if you did enjoy the video be sure to leave me a thumbs up that's always always appreciated and as always uh if you'd like to help my channel in other ways head on over to my website I have a number of workshops happening uh for the end of this year and 2024 and uh also my patreon page where you can watch extra content from these excursions if you'd like to see more and um and merchandise hats and so on all right folks thank you ever so much again and I will catch you in the next video okay bye for now thank you foreign
