the most fantastic finish I've witnessed will never be duplicated the New England Patriots trying to rewrite history all these things that they accomplished this year and achieved will diminish if they are losing here today and going into that game they're undefeated the Miami Dolphins from 1972 are pulling harder for you than even your own family you know last game of regular season Patriots are 15-0 you know end up losing the game but you know a one score game so if they play like they played tonight the New York Giants can make some hay in the NFC playoffs kind of gave us some confidence we just hung with the best team in the NFL and we're a play away you know we're a play away in the fourth quarter for maybe we're beating now nobody imagined that play would come down to David Tyree the fourth year receiver hadn't caught a touchdown all season and two days before the Super Bowl had what might have been the worst practice in the Hundred Year history of the NFL on a Friday practice the rumor is that David Tyree had a tough day tough is an understatement by any means final practice before you know the biggest game of your life everybody feels good with the game plan and you're going to play David Tyree could not catch a pass I mean he dropped seven passes I think I threw him eight he dropped seven nothing could go right I'm here calling you we always talk on our Fridays I said guess what David Tyrese and playing a spot he had the best practice of his life I've tried this you know misremember what just happened and try to just you know give myself something to look forward to that this is all going to be okay in this Super Bowl going against the undefeated New England Patriots Eli Manning do it just whatever quarterback lives for if I recall you headquarters coverage right cover four all the way across and Tyree he's got the post is open he couldn't play if you have time if you have taught him he was going to be the ball was gonna probably go to him on that play if you know if I didn't have to step up and move around it looked like you just couldn't see anything and if it's alive and just kind of collapsed but I know yes Thomas had a great Passion into homage pit history could have been a lot different for me thank you and as I'm stepping up you got people holding the back of my jersey that white jersey kind of flashes in front of me I'm thinking about kind of doing a little Ford shovel to this person get it out of your head now get it to a completion but it's an offensive lineman it's Chris Snee I don't know why he was right in front of me blocking no one like looking at me like he almost looks like he might expect the ball and so oh yeah yeah I see it's him don't throw it and then Shuffle out arguably the greatest play in the history of football almost was an illegal touch Touch by an offensive guard right do you think he would have scored you think he would have gone 70 you don't forward pitch it to sleep thankfully not just for you but for your brother and Family's sake for not embarrassing us you get spun out almost go to the ground right if it's staying on your feet and so I see Tyrique on the post and I see Rodney Harrison you know near him but I got to take a shot [Music] I mean I feel like Tyree just chose to catch it off his helmet like he could have caught it with two hands it just sort of added to the lore those are the moments that you you look forward to you dream about being in that Super Bowl and having a two-minute drive to Win It that's where you want to be four plays later Eli and the Giants completed the most stunning upset since Joe Namath and the Jets shocked the Colts in Super Bowl three [Music] the New York Giants have knocked off the New England Patriots 17-14 and the Giants were the most improbable win in recent memory have won Super Bowl 42. you get to see the catch really kind of kind of up unbelievable kids and then they finally okay I told you the gamer in the days that followed everybody wanted to give the play a name and the helmet catch stuck Omaha
