well guys I am in the process of putting the latest so what have you done this Cummins I went back I checked and verified my timing and just went ahead and broke the cam deers loose and took all the rockers loose and pulled the cam ears off and reset the timing at 6 and 6 and adjusted my backlash readjusted my back glass and I just applied ler and put it all back together to retort everything and just kind of double-checked everything so we're gonna go back here right now this is supposed to be the latest update for this this a v10 420 3.23 for a CPL 8520 450 horsepower at 2,000 rpm torque at peak rpm is 1,550 foot-pounds of torque 1200 rpm so I am waiting for that to be done and I was trying to plumb the heater core and the sweeper while I was doing that I want to get this one done so I could work on nothing yeah oh ok there's a little kind of a bracket there is that a ground no that's a cab got to go to fix that to see the cut all the wires off right there I don't know if you can even see that it's too dark ah see here gosh they wouldn't cut those off like that guess we'll figure that out too darn it I only got like 15 1% oh I'll wait to do this till this gets down over here I'm gonna put this file in here and I'll be back when that's in and we'll see what's going on with our engine here hopefully it runs me you know I got to think in order owner if I when I chose the strange if you go to a CPL that's not even related to this engine then it works and then it runs it doesn't run too bad unbelievable huh let's go to fall tree okay the fault codes my displays you yeah yeah yeah what happened let's try that again [Music] there it is you just beat Center kinship Center sensory and mechanical misalignment in Kamchatka anxious centers possible causes of this fault called include loose missing or corroded grounds damaged stone wheel teeth loose crankshaft on wheel teeth static timing miss set front gear train slippage miss oriented engine speed or camshafts position sensor electrical noise well you can go to a different Cpl and then it doesn't throw the code there's something I don't know what they changed I'm just totally confused about this thing you know I called and the the camshafts are in it that are supposed to be unless they've been reground you know expected tone wheels and speed position sensors I know they're fine because it doesn't do that on on the different Cpl expecting any vehicle groundings buy things in bulk starter alternator chassis and battery none of that is tech check static time turning key switch cell from a Velcro rotate engine insert pin on down or saw the injector camshaft timing wedge respect engine static timing okay so she easily we know that it's time dried six and six this doesn't make any sense to me I'm gonna go back out of it and I'm going to its active I can't so I can't reset it hmm I don't know where's calibration solution uh what I have a 10-4 23.2 three I don't know let's try 1024 dot two three see what it knows I guess [Music] okay we're gonna try this other one I got a feeling it's gonna do the same thing I tried the next one down i-10 I can't even move came to this place yeah I can 10 420 4.23 instead of a 10 423 coming says it's 10 for 23.3 is supposed to be the one that's in here but obviously something isn't right [Music] all right let's see what happens Oh runs like same thing same thing but it's got a crank sensor code in it God wonder what somebody's done to this thing going to fall codes yeah same thing same damn thing so you can't any of these it looks like to me any of these 8520 see pls to me it looks like it's gonna do that the only one that I've been able to make it run halfway decent on is an 85 19 CPL there's another 85 19 let's go back up here 85 125 85 19 that's the one that's the wonders that I was the only ones I was having any luck with was those right there I don't know what is that I'll show you the one that I want I had in it that was actually making it run somewhat decent was 10 3 42.2 3 was the one that was making it run halfway decent no no well I get the heater hoses on putting another and I'm trying other file on it see if I can make it run halfway decent I don't know what to do with it I really don't want I've never seen I've never had one do this to me before so they've cut these two wires you can pull we ain't harness out of the sleeper and wire this harness stuff's not stripping very good all right that's why our 2:54 need to get my little butane torch and get warmed up I see the heat shrink out do I need probably everything right here I slide it over the other wire get more room there fine wire 254 here this one because the other one just doesn't have a number on it at all not that I can see [Music] it's all diamond plate nothing stand up on it just unplug it right here myself a little more flexibility here like that a little bit more back on it you twist them together a little bit more evenly maybe God would stuff just a installation is so hard and brutal all this stuff works great on stuff that's brand-new [Music] but this is all the that I get to work on a bunch of with a million miles on it that somebody else's mess with forever having a hill the time here I've gotta twist it together there something to kind of hold it there my solder out I haven't really soldered that much it just kind of recently started doing it and I'm still practicing and I'm not very good but I'm getting the hang ever that's a good connection now let's let her heat shrink over there I do is I just take this off real quick a little bit wrong I just use it as a torch [Applause] [Applause] all right now to fix the other wire I probably should just so there's both of them that we went only had to take that off once wasn't thinking I had to go check on my file huh strip this on I could keep going when I hear that fuel pump kick on I know it's done Oh guys I found that the problem don't know why can't explain why this thing won't take the original file I just don't I verified cams number that verified injector numbers are all correct for the east for the CPL you guys around his bicycle around they've got some green actuators and timing actuator problems so I have taken these out before and clean them and put them back together [Music] you already done done riding already [Music] just a second more small pay attention to what I'm doing here buddy [Music] okay coil I don't think there's a lot you can take apart on the coil there's that little button but didn't doesn't want to come out anymore huh this part here you can feel them usually when you stick them down in here they'll hang on you oh shoot you got it did you get this one right yeah it's right yeah so that's clean you can get the button some thread this see how this one's tight maybe that other one see how that other one was loose yeah I might take that back apart see this one's tight only one was loose yeah I just done threaded right by hand that was might have been part of the problem you know what you know what we'll do is we'll just gently clamp it and wrap a ride around it or something to protect it and tighten it up we'll take that one back apart oh I'll show you here there's a flat the shafts he's got a flat on it and the part that you want to seal up is not really right here it's right here see where the taper is on the end of the plunger so I mean see there's something else it's in the system right there unless we just did that probably did probably and you're probably right let's clean this out I think we might have found a little bit of a problem already see that nasty looking black stuff that came out of there and I'm gonna take this apart like the other one was I don't really know if there's a need to do that or not should you think so yeah do you think we need to do it let's clean this part out here careful here go down like that you don't want that going back into your eyes okay let me do a little more take this piece apart oh yeah and the air horn oh that's pretty cool you sure it's the stat not the stack the exhaust stack that's it you can't see them what sparked the smokes coming out of these that's the exhaust the air horn see my air horns are up on see my exhaust is on the right hand side and see the silver thing right above it on the cab that's the air horn that's what makes all the noise when you pull the when you pull the handle down to honk the horn that's what makes all the noise I don't know if I want to mess with that ey o cuz I'm afraid I'm gonna damage it trying to unscrew it I think we'll leave it alone I think we'll pull this other one back apart and tighten it though let me start Mike no no just hang on a minute but hang on I'm gonna start the truck and build some air you can ride around over there oh yeah there's a lot of place to ride you can ride all the way down here around and by the end of the building there's a lot of room around here to ride turn after a ders and we cleaned them all the black one which is the newest one was actually the worst one it was stuck in there I got it and cleaned it up with some Emery cloth it needs new one so it was actually the worst one this one was loose the base was loose from the little armature plate and let's see what happens here Eli we've already started it wants Eli is gonna fire it up again good boy it was smoking like a banshee when we started it this morning the boy pulled those off I think we've gained a lot that sounds smooth or too splendid idols look Matt as walk back here bud climb down or jump down I don't want to do that burnham pretty clean now we're gonna bump the idol up on it and I'm gonna get my Cummins insight tool out I'll show you that let it get warmed up cruise control that's okay I'm gonna get that laptop out I'm gonna video the computer Eli and then I want you to run up and start it for me go ahead and start it all right good job no smoke [Applause] good it's not stumbling like it was yesterday let's go to our test we're gonna go to our cylinder performance test and then we're gonna start the test yesterday it fell on the back three and I swapped the back actuator for the front actuator the metering actuator no it's a timing actuator and then it passed so then this morning we came in and took them all apart and clean them all and we'll see how it see how the test morons out on it it's not smoking now I've smoking like a fancy this morning when we started it before we clean them eight seconds remaining six seconds remaining three seconds they're all pass and now see there's another thing I noticed it takes a lot for the turbo to kick in and go to the data monitor I probably shoulda stopped the test first we go to the data monitor and go to EGR terrible performance go down to the turbocharger speed it's a 70% it takes a while when it that the vgt will finally actuate and then the turbo of the turbine speed will speed up it seems like it takes a while for it to do it but I know we gained something because it still seems like I got a little bit of a Miss to it let's go into cylinder cutout and I had I was cutting out cylinder number six yesterday and it didn't really seem like it was doing much so here we can cut the cylinders out one at a time Eli means let him take the power away from the injector and make that a dead hole see watch this we're gonna cut out number one here it here now it change now we'll cut it back in let's go to number six oh it's working now it wasn't working yesterday I think you're right because it's working now it's not as noticeable as five though see how five is a lot different it's definitely changing it wasn't changing at all yesterday let's go to number four okay so I've a lot happier noise yesterday I'll tell you that he was filling the shop full of smoke yesterday you had to open that door up and it's it's improved drastically he's gonna have to get some new actuators eventually but maybe this will get him on the road rig he'll make some money we're gonna go do a sounder performance test one more time go ahead and start it it started well I started it here that's what I mean it's doing the task but oh it says stop yeah that's when we stop the test see the vgt just kicked in on it hear that noise they're all passing yesterday I had four five and six kept failing so I swapped that back actuator for the front actuator well then they all pass but it was still smoking it's still running her off but they passed that's when I decided to take them all off and clean them see I'll show you something eel I remember Ahmet let's go back to the data you'll see that that vgt kicked in I'll show you the difference now the command state has changed on the duty cycle let's go back to turbo now you'll see that our third turbocharger control valve command was at 70% before at about 9,000 rpm an hour 35% at 19,000 rpm same thing I'm gonna shut it off I just started it again and I'll show you the difference so you had again bud oh you want to shut it off okay I'll set it off and just give it a minute I'll show you shut it off and then this turn the key back on without starting it now what we don't lose communication with our computer okay now turn the key back on and just let it set for just a little bit we'll let the turbo quit spin in and everything like that go ahead and start it back up but okay alright come on make sure you don't skip over the cord and it's not smokin okay see right now over 70% and 10,000 rpm for 70 70 % at 10,000 rpm see it now let's go back to the cylinder balance that's one more time I think it's gonna pass this smoking it's running good yeah they have you were sleeping in the truck this morning I had the video camera on you exelon four could boot up on the test here hey now is testing on right oh the circle it's the computers thinking that's kind of a wait time I think I don't know usually one year and on computer and you get one a little too early cues there it means it's it's thinking they all pass okay I'm happy with it she's not smoking that's really good okay I think we got this engine pretty well straighten out for now let's oh I forgot to I got to turn the key back on didn't disconnect from the ECM no fault codes either so this is good a truck like this will make you know these engines inside and out because no he seemed connected close out of that are you sure you want to exit insight yes I am sure and then I'll shut the computer down all right I'm happy engine runs good doesn't smoke [Music] so long story short viewers if you caught any of what I did there taking the actuators apart try to save yourself a little bit of money you can do it you know take them apart and clean them up and wear the little plunger goes down there take your thumb nail yeah that's heavy and just grab that if you feel a little bit of a step on that shaft just take a little bit of really fine this is like 220 emery cloth and just go over it to where that plunger slides in and out of there real nice and easy you know eventually you're gonna have to buy some actuators but this will get you going you want to be the camera okay so this make sure you point it and what I'm doing over here in light take this whole pan lean out so we can get to the wires in there here everybody just about right in here that's good enough it's hard to get everything for it but I have a better idea okay okay [Music] okay Nick you can hold the light with your left hand I gotta get to hands in on this thing cuz it's being on me that's light for the lower oh you mean like the that yeah I don't know I always turn on all the way on all you want I guess maybe if you get in a certain spot sometimes life's can get too bright kind of blind I'll put it on my hat while you keep your stuff down here hidden and they put a black screws on a black panel you can't see them can you hold that for a minute and hold the camera or not the camera but the light here shine it down here yeah yeah you're doing just fine man that was tired this is why the junkyard here why the junk here just make sure you don't can see on the other part we're worried about that part of it up wiring matching up to what's supposed to be okay now [Music] okay let's go outside let's go outside look and see what we've got that's working all right you know nothing is working here and I'm wondering yeah Wow that cigarette lighter there that shouldn't have done anything well I know I do need the lights as I'm old and I can't see I'm 43 feelings a little more there's nothing either a fuse pop somewhere I got a check and see what's going on we're not getting anything to that that board over there okay well darn it well obviously when you turn the bunk heater or the bunk on it grounds that wire amazing what happens when you turn it on well we just finally got pretty much everything done on the sink finally it's we got quite a mess here we've been humping right along there trying to get things done it's about seven o'clock at night I've worked though Eli and he's best about his thirties I am he's been working hard helping and but as you can see we made a plate that went down to the frame there we welded this on I took the hoses and the lines no pigtail and I pulled them out of the crossmember and then loop them back on this side and just moved it right up there and welded it on it turned out great and I well it ended up taking this rocket off because they had that bracket for a you know when this when that plate was laying horizontal like that or something yeah how was that thing laying before yeah they had it like that which I don't know why the head like that anyway that or they were you know pulled on it like that but anyway turn oh all right yeah we welded it right there hung anyway and then we made another plate for the other side I just didn't feel right about just putting two of these hold downs that they had on here like that and I just would feel a lot more sir secure and no making a plate and you know bolting it to the frame that way had a little bit more support on the front end of this thing hold down clamps on the back that's the welder right dear yep yep and then we did we you know first thing we did we tackled the metering actuators and timing actuators that don't smoke a lick now runs a lot smoother that's right and then we got all the AC lines and heater hoses and everything plumbed and then we wired didn't we we wired the thing we got everything in the cab work and we got the air conditioner work in yep she's pretty much ready to go we just got a couple things to tie up tomorrow morning and go test drive it and tell him to bring lots of money he's got to pay you too didn't he he owes you to that Sun again all righty you I let's uh say goodbye to everybody we're gonna go pick all our tools up and go home
